The perseverance of these eagles is best noticed today, as the snow continues to fall and the nest continues to accumulate more snow. Remember that this is more than a month earlier than the last time weather caused disaster for the nesting season. Even if they give up on this egg, (which I doubt) there is plenty of time for additional eggs. Keep your fingers crossed.

Poor Lib looks lost
WElcome to the new Riffe baby.Born during Sandra's 70th Birthday Blizzard". What a day! The tension on "As the Nest Turns" is getting to be unbearable. Tom says :leave it to the eagles. They're smarter than we are.
I enjoy this blog so much. Be warm and careful out there. Megan, there will be warm chocolate chio cookies soon. Come on over!
Twice today I have gotten on the live feed without a commercial
It is hard but they are so trying. Time will tell
Hi Sandra Happy Birthday
Feeling very sad. Lib looks as if he is alone in the world. Circumstances do not seem to be improving.
Sharon I second your not so popular thought and it looks as though which ever eagle we are seeing is in the process of trying to not make that very difficult decision and yet knowing its too cold and they can't get it out of there. I am feeling very sad for them again. Its nature and it happens over and over and most likely in many a nest we are not watching but its still hard when its our pair. We have seen their devotion and commitment and know how very very hard they try to make it all ok for their eggs . Back the eagle goes to try some more.
Daggon refresh! Looks like belle is back?
Ok, was just trying again...thanks Glo
Yes Sandra, HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY and we love you so!
And it appears to me that the egg was rolled up out of the hole?
Sandra, in all the excitement/drama/sorrow I forgot to wish you a Happy Birthday!
That is a sad live cam pic. It is like she doesn't know what to do.
Hi Sandra! Happy Birthday again!
Any chance little Mabel will see you after all this snow disappears?
This sure does feel like the ghosts of Christmas past but the last time this happened we were waiting for the eggs to hatch and not be laid.
well its been about 45 minutes now, I would guess the egg is cold, especially laying in the snow. Lib wasn't able to get it up under him.
It is what it is but oh how I wish I could change it!
I think we are watching instinct and acceptance work its way through to our eagle. I know they know all is not well. But that second egg had to be laid today it was time. Just no way to keep it warm. There is not warm.
They will both be OK and so will we. It just all stinks right now for sure. We know there has been some food and tonights weather will be so much better than last ngiht wherever they spend it.
Thanks to everybody for the greetings. Looks like a sad day, though. The sun is out and it's a beautiful world, but my heart's in the sycamore tree.
I am so happy you have sun!!! Can see no eggs. Wish eagle eggs were speckled!
Loved the video. Yes, happier times! I so wanted 2 or 3 eaglets this year, but right now just 1 would be a blessing.
yes sharon there is no newly hatched or about to hatch eaglet down there dying. There is an egg or two not going to stay viable but that is easier to accept and they do have plenty of time. I just want that snow out of there before the next egg.
Glad, too that our eagle is eating.
The only thing I can say if they do give up at present, is that we haven't waited for 5 weeks or more for the eggs to hatch, only to have snow come in at the last minute and take them away.
If they do give up, they have a better chance at a second clutch.
Road trip! Everyone get an extension cord and your hair dryer. Throw in an electric lap blanket! We have a tree to climb and work to do. Or....so I wish.
off went our adult
Got BWE up on wildcam.com...eagle on the nest...snow doesn't look near at deep as our nest.
Me too, Lolly!
Back from the left
down in the cup, trying to get egg out
Awww sat back down in the snow. Now up to try to do something with the mess again argh. Back down
And back and not giving up!
Looked like up and cleaning beak, now back down in the snow bowl
and up and back down again
and up and back down, then up and flew off to the right
can see one egg well now. OUr adult has left again
Empty nest. Praying hard here!
heck I don't even know what to pray for at this point.
it is very quiet.
That might have been the last try at it. The others are right, if they give up now and wait for the nest to dry out, they might try again.
I can't see the egg.
They are smarter than we are. Hopefully we'll get a second clutch this year.
I can't see the egg either! I know what I'm praying for!
I thinkits right in the middle of that gray circle which i think is probably a circle of snowy slushy stuff
I think its further down than that...
If you fullscreen the live cam you can make it out.
well anything is surely possible. Adult remains gone. They are so struggling right now :-(
OMG, just came back on & see an MT nest! Is Eggbert in the middle of well? I saved a pic, but they're such a small size, don't know if I can enlarge.
Just saw an eagle on the far left, flying from front to back
I see what you are talking about Glo, but I think that's too small to be the egg. Eagle back from the right...aww trying to place a stick around the snow bowl.
Gosh they just never quit do they. Still working at the nest. Hard to know what they are thinking. I don't even know who it is.
that egg is way down there, I think the egle is afraid of damaging it with its beak
Somebody's back!!!
still trying very hard to be careful where they step.
Not sure if that's the egg or a clump of snow, maybe we can tell when the night lite comes one
Now away from bowl.
Gone ;>(
Pink in the sunset means some sun tomorrow - also sun forecasted for Mon
Just seems to small, I go back and look at my pics and it seems too small
When the night light comes on, don't you think that it will shine off the snow on the tree trunk again and stop us from seeing anything; like last night.
Looks like a clump of snow to me.
Did the night light just go on?
I am still without the live feed
I have tried and tried..... and I am still trying.
It doesn't really matter. Wherever it is or they are they are "icey cold. I want the snow gone. I surely hope for nice sunshine tomorrow even if it stays cold air temp wise it might be warm enough to get enough out of there that Lib and Belle can clear much of the rest. I am hoping I guess.
Nite lite just popped on
Eagle call
How Can I watch this with such a heavy heart? I send my tears and prayers on wings of love for Lib and Bells.
Now the night light just went on
Just heard Eagle chirps. Must be in tree!
Lib and Belle.
eagle back...looks like Belle
In nest!
and appears to have dropped in from above
Eagle back but the night light is having a hard time getting past the snow clumped on the tree. I think that is Belle.
Lib in with a branch
Both there now and with another stick. God bless them!
It is as if they are trying to rebuild the nest again.
I think they know now.
I am thinking they can't find the egg. I would think if they could, instinct would make them incubate it.
Bringing more sticks I bet to cover the snow & have a real nest again.
Lib off to the right, Belle checking for nestovers...nope breaking branch
yes it does sort of seem liek they are building on top of what they already have since it is so covered with snow. argh!!!
back to the egg cup she goes...moving the small branch, digging in the snow
They are such a GREAT pair!
I know what we humans feel and the biologist teach us NOT to put our feeling into theirs - but how can we help not to do that.
This is hard to watch.............
It is hard to watch but I have to say that I am feeling some relief! I, however, can't see now so I don't know what they are doing.
she just doesn't know what to do.
But if they do rebuild it would be a blessing to have done so when that third egg arrives....
She waited a longer time then usual -
because the first egg was 2/2 late evening and then the second one was 2/6 early afternoon.
I hear the geese.
Well I guess I'll take a break and have some supper. I didn't want to watch the sad drama, but just had to watch. Hopefully by tomorrow the sun will comeout and they will begin again to rebuild their nest on top of the snow. AND hopefully that snow will start to melt!
Now she is up on the left side of the bowl..it's so hard to see
It is very hard to watch. I have been checking in from time to time.
I worry about all of the eagles around here that we watch.
I'm thinking they are bringing in more sticks to build the nest anew because Belle is going to be laying another egg very, very soon and can't lay it in all that snow.
Hello all. I have been watching and my heart is breaking for these two.
It looks like they are trying to rebuild. So confused...
Is she tenting over the bowl?
Thats all I can take for today. Tonight is better physically for our pair and they will accept and move on emotionally too. We know it we have seen it before. I don't think our eagle is any warmer or colder whether she sits on the snowy nest or up on a snowy tree limb in the wind tonight. Perhaps for her she will be better in the nest. Hopefully some sunshine tomorrow will improve conditions for all of us to move forward with Lib and Belle wherever they take us.
Are we sure that "Biologists" are human. Sorry just a little side comment, but all of the animals I know do have feelings and anyone who heard Hornsby lose their eggs knows that eagles do respond to loss.
I think God decided that we needed a break from this and now we can't see anything!
Can't get the cams at Blackwater or NBG.
Can you all still see cause I can't see anything?
WAX!
I really can't see anything.
