Good night, Judie, Margy and Mits! Margy makes her cheese salad like I do, except I don't use olives or celery---but I do use celery seed! Like pimiento in it, too. Have always liked cheese spread, as well. And I love Sandwich Spread!!! Hmmm...going to add it to my grocery list for tomorrow! Haven't had it in ages---does anyone else remember it??
Wanda----glad you and Gene found a project that makes you feel so good! Been wondering if you got back online, but then saw you on yahoo, so figured all was fixed!
Fun, Paula!!! Made my DVD----and when I tried to view it, my PC started doing funnny things......lost all my desktop items, including the menu bar....now Microsoft is saying I need to download an Update to correct problems: well, why didn't they send patches for the known problem when they found them? Argh!! So still don't know if DVD is okay or not. Will try it in DVD player in the morning. Heading for the tub. Hope everyone has an excellent night. Prayers for all, and Peace!
Hi all! I'm back. Did another tray of slides tonight. Slow but sure!
No, Jack is not home. Expect him in little over an hour. And, no, do not have a fire waiting for him. It is 63, not quite cool enough for a fire. Also, I was too busy to tend a fire.
Think I am going to go pop some pop corn and fix myself a G&T to have with it.
Been over reading the new bear article. It is so interesting. My question....so if we meet a bear on a trail, what do they recommend? Has any of that info changed?
Yep keep my eye on it til bedtime. I have 3 or 4 photos will send on out in a minute. I was surely hoping to NOT see an owl and our eagle there close in time argh!!!
Hi, Gang, I'm B-a-a-a-c-k! Thank God it decided not to rain any more, so I didn't have to drive through pouring rain to get to school, OR to come home. That was a blessing! Got almost all my homework for this week done. Just have some word definitions to type up and turn in on Thursday. Tomorrow's Wednesday, so no school for me! Hope to get some laundry and housework done tomorrow. BTW, thanks, Lynn--glad you like my patio. Gardeners couldn't work on the yard today, so the lawn may get kinda long before the rain's over, but at least it's nice and green!
Well, guess I'd better call it quits for tonight. Getting kinda late, and must get up early with Hubby in the morning. Prayers being said for everyone, especially those in need of healing. The night light is on, the porch light is too, and the eye scanner is ready to go. Sleep tight, everyone, and have pleasant eagle dreams! Talk to you in the morning. Love all you guys! :o]
Sorry Andy, I was up, but missed you. Jack is home. We have been talking and relaxing now that he is home. Do not relax when he is on the road. Heading to the shower.
Nite all! Good morning early birds. Lily is sleeping and I soon will be.
Wow, a late night Eagle visit to our nest ! Great captures of that Glo ! I read your post and saw the pictures in the album. See that Lolly saw them too ☺ Thanks for getting the pics up Jo !
Two Eagles in the nest right now at BWE - wonder when they got there...camera openes up at 0500 and there they are.....
Finland water nest looks like things are warming up there a little
Lolly Glad that Jack is back at the Roost...and that you can relax now
Andrea - Enjoy your day off, sounds like you have worked hard for it, your avatar pictures are great, love the one that's up now...is that from your garden too?
GOOD MORNING... Don't think we will be able to see any eggs or babies til they are couple weeks old...Cam must be 2ft higher up the tree:( This is a FIRST sighting for me IN THE MORNING...
Wanda, Sharon and Paula told me that is where it used to be in the beginning and we would be able to see them fly in and out of the nest from this view.
Sharon, that would be nice to see, but I'd rather see them UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL...I think??? Time will tell. Guess I shouldn't holler before I'm hurt:)
Good Morning Eagle buds. Good Grief! I've been up since 5 AM & didn't see eagles. It's so dark here, I didn't check cam~~Boo. We had some large sleet pellets. Worked on Park eagle pics, but there a little blurry, so don't think I'll put them up.
Wanda that's so cool about the new soup kitchen! What a great thing you are doing!
Loretta, how is your hand....did you get one of those splints to wear? HOpe you get the camera figured out soon.
Glad Jack got home safe....can't blame you Lolly for not being able to relax when he's on the road.
Andy and Jim and AnneMarie are really in for more bad weather....they are saying the low pressure system coming through tonight will be a "record" low pressure system. Batten down the hatches and stay safe!
Norma, you asked about Kelsey and Jake...they are my neighbor/landlord's kids, and Kelsey spent part of the weekend with us. She is almost 3, and Jake is 10 months and a week. He was at his granny's and got really sick cutting the getaway short for mom and dad. Double ear infections, infected tonsil and some concern that he may have mono....Happy to report he's feeling better and it doesn't appear to be mono!
So sorry about the second quake in Haiti. Tragic situation.
Andy and Jim, stay dry and safe.
Lynn, what does your Aunt Jane have in her seasoning? LOL Never heard of that brand -- what would be similar? Also never heard of sandwich spread unless it is what I remember as potted meat.
Did see one eagle at BW, two at NBG, empty ours, Lily sleeping, Diego fogged in.
Judie, that was Margy's seasoning----I've heard of it but never bought it. Might be like Lawry's Seasoned Salt. Sandwich Spread--a Hellman's product--is kind of a mayo concoction with pickles and other yummy stuff in it. Look for it where the mayo is!
JUDIE!! There was an eagle in our nest! Bring your coffee, and get on back here! He might come back!
I'm with you regarding the 6.1 quake in Haiti earlier this morning--can't mean anything very good. Many more prayers being said for that situation!
Lolly, sorry I missed you last night, but glad you had some time to catch up with Jack, and can now relax, since he's back to the roost!
Margy, glad you like my new avatar! It's a picture of two 'Black-Eyed Susan' vines that are near our back fence. There's a yellow-flowered one, and an orange-flowered one. Funny story: a month or so ago, Hubby was saying I ought to just get rid of the orange-flowered vine, since it didn't seem to be blooming hardly at all. There were yellow flowers EVERYWHERE, but only one or two orange ones. I didn't have the heart to chuck the orange-flowered vine out, so said a little prayer for it, hoping that it would do better. Well, now it's climbed about 8 or 10 feet into one of our big Arborvitaes, and there must be at least 25 orange flowers! There are only about 4 or 5 yellow flowers at this time. Guess I'd better say a prayer for the yellow-flowered vine now!
Very happy to hear that little Jake is doing better, and hope that Kelsey is OK, too. It's beginning to rain a bit more here where I am, just a sudden burst of rain, then nothing for a bit, then a burst of rain. No wind so far, which is good. Guess the third BIG storm will hit here later today. Am considering bringing my patio geraniums to the front porch, where they'll be under a roof for a while. The poor things are nearly drowned! They don't like so much water, and need a breather. They have bloomed like crazy since I've only been watering them once a week--now this!
I see that I missed the discussion about Sandwich Spread while I was at school last night. Have eaten my share of it--but like deviled ham (in the little paper-wrapped can) better! Usually add mayo to it, and pickle relish. Don't have it often, but it's good!
I didn't know that! Wow, the Maryland State flower! I really do like them--they look so cheerful! My geraniums are the only other bloomers right now, so they really perk up the yard.
Thanks, I love black eyed susan vine(thunbergia), and we grow about 15 varieties of rudbeckias here, they are great cut flowers. Waiting patiently for my sweet william seeds to arrive in the mail.
Well, shucks, we all missed out. Tavern on the Green asset auction: a carved wooden eagle from the front entrance sold for ONLY $5000---well under it's $10-50,000 estimate! Gee, I always miss the bargains!!!
Gosh, Megan, I wish there weren't so many miles between us! I have a feeling I'd be a BIG fan of all your flowers! While I'm thinking of it, let me ask you about a poinsettia plant that's survived Christmas. I'd like to put it outside, but am not sure what sort of conditions would be best for it. What sort of spot would it like best?
on Baltimore news channel 2, reporting the theory that this man, who died on the 17th, may have been the Poe visitor. They are speaking with the head of the EA Poe society about the theory. This is an article about the man...
Megan, I think Sweet William was one of my Grandma's favorite flowers! I'm sure my Uncle Bill had something to do with that! I bet my Grandma would've loved your place. She had a quarter-acre back yard, and every square inch of her flower beds were STUFFED with every variety of flowers imaginable! She had SUCH a green thumb!
I always put the poinsettia outside (after frost/freeze time has passed here!) until fall---then put it in a cool dark corner of the basement until about 4 weeks before Christmas and then it is supposed to "come back" to bloom in time for Christmas---sometimes it worked, sometimes not. Found that they often got too spindly to be pretty. Of course, NO green thumb here. And I know people who swear that watering them with urine is the way to go----and I wouldn't!!
Good morning everyone. Late on Blog but lots already done. Have freezing rain moving in anytime now. Dex has had his treats and walk. Birds are all fed oh and those squirrels :-), and I have been to grocery. Now I hope we don't get too much but it doesn't sound good. Had a very special Cam club meeting tonight too. Stan Bousson (Google him)had one of his cams in a tree and photographed the a pair of eagles from egg laying to fledgling. He was presenting a slide show of his gorgeous captures. One of which was the baby eagles with the sparrow visiting them that I had posted . I was so looking forward to that. Also how to clean our camera sensors. It $100 everytime someone else does it. Hope if needed it is postponed and not canceled. OK enough from me. Got lots to do. Enjoy your day.
Today Mostly cloudy early...then becoming mostly sunny. A chance of rain early. Highs in the lower 40s. North winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.
Tonight Partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 20s. North winds around 5 mph. Thursday Partly sunny in the morning...then cloudy with a chance of rain and sleet in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 30s. East winds around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation 40 percent.
Saw a small news item in paper today about that guy, Lynne. Your article never related any suspicion of him being the Poe visitor. But since he was 61, if it was him, he must have inherited the role from someone else, because it's been going on for longer than 61 years!
Morning all. Wanda wish I lived closer to you would love to help with the soup kitchen. I have an old poinsetta plant. It is just green and as you said Lynn very spindly. Urine yuck. No thanks.
Megan, I looked this up on 'Ask'--here's what they say:
How to Transplant a Poinsettia to Your Garden
Contributor By eHow Contributing Writer
If your poinsettia is still alive past New Year's Day, it may live to see another holiday season. If you live in a temperate climate in which there are no hard frosts, you can plant this tempermental plant outside in a permanent location.
Instructions--Things You'll Need: Fertilizers Garden Shears Poinsettias Potting Soil Watering Cans Step 1: Set the poinsettia outdoors once outside night temperatures average 55 degrees F or above. Allow the plant to acclimate to the outdoors for a few days prior to transplanting.
Step 2: Select a protected site against a south-facing wall.
Step 3: Dig a hole larger than the pot. Fill the hole partially with a rich, fast-draining potting soil.
Step 4: Gently remove the plant from the pot and place it in the prepared planting hole. Adjust the soil under the plant so that 1/2 inch of the root ball will set above the surface of the soil once the hole has been filled.
Step 5: Fill around the root ball with potting soil. Water after planting is complete. Add no fertilizer for a few weeks.
Step 6: Cut the poinsettia back to about 8 inches in height in late March or early April. By the end of May you should see vigorous new growth.
Step 7: Prune during the summer to keep the plant bushy and compact. Do not prune after September 1.
Step 8: Water regularly. The roots of poinsettias should never be allowed to dry out completely.
Step 9: Fertilize every two to three weeks with a complete fertilizer.
Step 10: Cover the plant for 14 hours at night, starting in October, making sure it receives no light at all. (If your plant receives no artificial light at night from the street or house, this step is unnecessary.)
Step 11: Remove the cover each morning for a maximum of 10 hours.
Step 12: Continue this procedure every day for 10 weeks, and you can have poinsettia blossoms by next Christmas.
Sounds a bit complicated to get it to re-bloom next Christmas, but might be worth a try. Still too cold to move it outside here right now, though.
Andrea...we have a 24ft X 24ft deck and I stuff every square inch around the edges with plants (potted). I LOVE gardening up there. I keep a green plastic garbage can up against the house, filled with water and a gallon jug inside for instant watering. I have a wooden whiskey barrell filled with water and water plants. Easiest garden in the world to care for:) CAN'T WAIT!
I am SO anxious to have my YELLOW COLUMBINE to bloom (seeds that Lolly sent me). I have planted them next to my dark purple columbine...if all goes well, should be a pretty sight! Lolly has some of my purple seeds. They sould do well in Texas...you know, everything is BIGGER in Texas:)
Hi, Wanda! I LOVE columbines! Have some fond memories of them from when we lived in Utah when I was about 6 years old. Hope yours do well--should be a gorgeous combination with the purple ones!
Erich Segal, the author of "Love Story" (I think most of us are old enough to remember the impact that book and movie had on us---weep, weep) died of a heart attack Sunday at 72. Wow---he was young when he wrote it---wonder where he got all the angst at that early an age!
That reminds me--I need to find the pictures from the trip! Also, my goofy computer (which is still whining at me because it wants to do multiple updates!) lost the link to the hummer nest cam. Can someone send it to me, please?
Thanks, Wanda....yes, I'm feeling much better this week----yesterday was best day so far, so think I have turned the corner! I missed being with y'all so much! The laugh can be a real problem when I have a cough!!!
Sorry to hear about Erich Segal, AND David Franks, too. Wonder if David Franks WAS the mystery person? That's the sort of thing he liked to do. If it was, bet he and Mr. Poe are toasting each other with some cognac as we speak!
Good morning! Just to let you know that I am having serious computer problems. Could not get online at all yesterday. Do not know when I will be able to get on at home. Our system is shut down while we figure out how to fix it.
Wow! Was going to put pics in album & see he/she is still there! Andrea, don't know if you're near the CA mmonsoons, but hope you and all our other CA buddies--Jim & Anne Marie--are not flooded!

Margy, sleep. Morning will arrive early for you.
Lolly, hope you have a home fire burning for Jack -- or some kind of fire, anyway.
Jo, I'll share with you anytime. Maybe Mits will join in.
I hope the MIAs will join in tomorrow.
Okay, this is it for real. Light is going off and staying off. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. Night all.
I love Sandwich Spread
Been over on FB...amazing who you find or who finds you. A little girl I used to babysit found me on there...she's all grown up with 4 kids!
SANDWICH SPREAD IS GOOD...:)
My girls loved it with tomatoes from the garden and lettuce. Has a good deal of fat, but OK once in a while.
Going to bed now...will probably dream of SOUP! LOL
GOOD NIGHT MY FRIENDS
SLEEP TIGHT
PRAYERS FOR ALL
Fun, Paula!!!
Paula, did you see #2 video of Conowingo? I can't seem to get #1 or #2 on my blog.
That would be on FACEBOOK, Paula.

Thanks Glo I bet you were looking for the GHO and look what you found.
Gone now, but I saw the eagle.
Been over reading the new bear article. It is so interesting. My question....so if we meet a bear on a trail, what do they recommend? Has any of that info changed?
Eagle was in our nest, Glo?
I was up wiping off doggie feet.
Wanda - I saw it, but hadn't a chance to view it yet...will do tomorrow on better computer.
Wanda - you just need to copy url from youtube to place on your blog...embed is the option you want
Yep keep my eye on it til bedtime. I have 3 or 4 photos will send on out in a minute. I was surely hoping to NOT see an owl and our eagle there close in time argh!!!

WE HAVE AN EAGLE IN THE NEST!!!
I think it is Belle.

Don't think we will be able to see any eggs or babies til they are couple weeks old...Cam must be 2ft higher up the tree:(
This is a FIRST sighting for me IN THE MORNING...
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!!
Was a reason given for attaching the cam so much higher up? I'm waaay behind on this blog! Will never catch up, cause I don't know where I left off:)
Wanda, Sharon and Paula told me that is where it used to be in the beginning and we would be able to see them fly in and out of the nest from this view.
Good Morning Norma.
Megan's Sweet Williams or Dianthus are a welcome sight:)
Sharon, that would be nice to see, but I'd rather see them UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL...I think??? Time will tell. Guess I shouldn't holler before I'm hurt:)
OH DEAR, sorry SISSY...thought your were SHARON! Imagine that! LOL
Happens all the time, Wanda, even face to face!!!
MORNIN' MARGY--MEGAN--SISSY--SHARON & WANDA!!----WHOA!--I'LL NEVER CATCH UP!!----
Good Morning Eagle buds.
Good Grief! I've been up since 5 AM & didn't see eagles. It's so dark here, I didn't check cam~~Boo.
We had some large sleet pellets.
Worked on Park eagle pics, but there a little blurry, so don't think I'll put them up.
Another earthquake in Haiti~~~6.0.
I have a folder of nest pics from '06 and cam was further away from the nest then.
Which do you think is best, Loretta, closer or farther away, but able to view more? I guess it may be a toss up.
ANOTHER? Lord have mercy on all of them.
Good Morning all!
Wanda that's so cool about the new soup kitchen! What a great thing you are doing!
Loretta, how is your hand....did you get one of those splints to wear? HOpe you get the camera figured out soon.

Whoops---GOOD MORNING Eagle buds!
Loretta, heard on news that east and south of the city was getting some mixed precip. Nothing here, thank goodness!
You DID see my post a few days ago about how to conservatively treat your carpal tunnel, didn't you Lowreeda?????
Poof!
good morning everyone, have a good Wednesday..I remember Sandwich Spread, never had it, did not know it was still around
poor Haiti, prayers for all the people and those there to help...

Now just one
Lolly, I like your picture of Lily, and Megan, I like your new avatar, too!
Me, too, Andy----but always used the Sandwich Spread with it!!
Gosh, Judie needs to get back here--she's missing out!
BOTH again

Hi, Lynn! Gee, I'll have to try that combo--sounds good!
BTW, have heard the raccoons on our roof the last couple of nights. Wish they'd come out during the day, so I could get a picture of them!
yes that is the name of the official state flower the cutting type...
Now, Megan, how did you miss out on that eagle carving?
Well, I was counting my pennies, and I had just gotten to $4.53 when I heard the eagle had been sold....
Gosh, Megan, I wish there weren't so many miles between us! I have a feeling I'd be a BIG fan of all your flowers! Hope if needed it is postponed and not canceled. OK enough from me. Got lots to do. Enjoy your day.
This is a better view of the eagle, now that it is good daylight. Still not close enough for me.

Saw a small news item in paper today about that guy, Lynne. Your article never related any suspicion of him being the Poe visitor. But since he was 61, if it was him, he must have inherited the role from someone else, because it's been going on for longer than 61 years!
Gone, now...looks like a lot of fluff has been brought in.
Morning all. Wanda wish I lived closer to you would love to help with the soup kitchen.
I have an old poinsetta plant. It is just green and as you said Lynn very spindly. Urine yuck. No thanks.
Saw eagle a couple minutes ago, then poofed!Blog page froze. Got 2 pics.
Beautiful sight. Now I can go to work!!
If you go to Ecke.com they tell you how to care for poinsettias. And they are the experts
Read that article in the paper It is also on wjztv site. Lynn he would not have been the first one but may have taken it over.
Back again!!
Well, I thought everybody peed on their poinsettias. You mean you don't? :)
BBL got to get dressed
Megan, I looked this up on 'Ask'--here's what they say:
How to Transplant a Poinsettia to Your Garden
Contributor
By eHow Contributing Writer
If your poinsettia is still alive past New Year's Day, it may live to see another holiday season. If you live in a temperate climate in which there are no hard frosts, you can plant this tempermental plant outside in a permanent location.
Instructions--Things You'll Need:
Fertilizers
Garden Shears
Poinsettias
Potting Soil
Watering Cans
Step 1: Set the poinsettia outdoors once outside night temperatures average 55 degrees F or above.
Andrea...we have a 24ft X 24ft deck
and I stuff every square inch around the edges with plants (potted). I LOVE gardening up there. I keep a green plastic garbage can up against the house, filled with water and a gallon jug inside for instant watering. I have a wooden whiskey barrell filled with water and water plants. Easiest garden in the world to care for:) CAN'T WAIT!
I have had a poinsettia to rebloom several times, but it was never pretty enough to be worth the effort. It WAS fun to try.
Oh, goodie! Eagle back again! This is making my day!
Dark purple and yellow - Vikings colors!
Hi, Wanda!
I LOVE columbines! Have some fond memories of them from when we lived in Utah when I was about 6 years old. Hope yours do well--should be a gorgeous combination with the purple ones!
Now eagle was pecking at the tree branch. Maybe trying to peel tape!
Erich Segal, the author of "Love Story" (I think most of us are old enough to remember the impact that book and movie had on us---weep, weep) died of a heart attack Sunday at 72. Wow---he was young when he wrote it---wonder where he got all the angst at that early an age!
Loretta, maybe they want some GORILLA TAPE to hold the nest together:)
LOL Sharon You are such a goof.
Hey, Lynn...feelig better now?
Your presence and wonderful laugh was REALLY missed on our trip:(
SHARON, I shall name my yellow and purple columbine patch, "THE VIKING PATCH"! lol
Yes, Lynn, how are you feeling? Sorry you didn't go on the road trip last weekend!
eagle BWE
That reminds me--I need to find the pictures from the trip! Also, my goofy computer (which is still whining at me because it wants to do multiple updates!) lost the link to the hummer nest cam. Can someone send it to me, please?
poof BWE
Wow, just LOOK at that eagle in our nest! I am loving this!
Hey, maybe Lib wants to use duct tape to help hold the nest together!
It's a guy thing!
Thanks, Wanda....yes, I'm feeling much better this week----yesterday was best day so far, so think I have turned the corner! I missed being with y'all so much! The laugh can be a real problem when I have a cough!!!
HUMMER NEST
Lily is awake
Sorry to hear about Erich Segal, AND David Franks, too. Wonder if David Franks WAS the mystery person? That's the sort of thing he liked to do. If it was, bet he and Mr. Poe are toasting each other with some cognac as we speak!
so today is Lily's birthday.
Mits, THANK YOU for the link to the hummer nest! Awwwwww--what a cutie!
Good morning! Just to let you know that I am having serious computer problems. Could not get online at all yesterday. Do not know when I will be able to get on at home. Our system is shut down while we figure out how to fix it.
I miss you all!
Wow! Was going to put pics in album & see he/she is still there!
Andrea, don't know if you're near the CA mmonsoons, but hope you and all our other CA buddies--Jim & Anne Marie--are not flooded!
It's Lily's Birthday today?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LILY!!
NEW THREAD!
Morning, all!
Enjoying the eagle in our nest!
Wanda - you will definitely be able to see the chicks in our nest....what may be hard to see is the pip hole!
