Wow....2nd wave of plungers were canceled due to extreme cold and a bunch of people were treated for hypothermia from the first bunch. Water temp was 36.
Brrrrr! Good reason to call off the plunge. Surely everyone can just pretend they did it and donations can be made anyway. Would not want someone to end up sick.
Just called Kathryn and told her that she can bring Hunter here if he dosn't have school tomorrow. I think Will does not work tomorrow. He can play in the snow with Hunter. I'll watch.
I'm back on the desktop. Yes, I do get 10 min. and then 30 seconds and I have to hit the play button each time on the live cam. Just being a grouch (read b#@%!) today.
I DO love the live feed with sound and heard Lib make that growl/grunt before the hp, but was just wondering if there is a way to keep up the live cam a bit longer so I don't miss the egg laying.
They aren't gonna change it, many cams do it, so if someone has walked away and isn't watching anymore, they are not using bandwidth. It's expensive to run the cams, and many sites do this. The bear.org cam does this. Grin and bear it, and keep hitting play:) It's a great feed so far this year, the sound is the best we've ever had.
At the risk of sounding indelicate, I caught a photo of our pair just seconds after that last HP and it shows the position that Belle takes when HP occurs. Something I have not seen before...I found it very interesting and informative. On my WILD AND WONDERFUL and Momsters Album.
I sure hope Belle comes back to the nest tonight and does her thing !!!
Hedgie - I didn't catch that on Ch 4 about the Plunge. Hypothermia would be my biggest concern for all those fearless Polar Bear plungers. My gd was to go with the 3:00 group - I am sure their promised donations will be made even if they weren't allowed in the water.......
Margy I thought Hedgie and Mits were talking about the 7th for the shuttle. I could be 100% wrong..but they were saying that half time at the Super Bowl could have great entertainment with the launch
I think it is Moose #12 at the feeder on Pook's cam. There were others but now only this one is in view. He lowers himself by bending his front legs in order to reach the feed bin.
Thanks for your comment on my INDELICATE photo:) No one said anything and I was afraid I had offended some. I have been known to say things that I shouldn't. Tee Hee That's just me!
Think I am going to retire for a few with an overdue library book about Flamingos, and my computer manual....and maybe some ice cream. with chocolate sauce.
Comment over on VDGIF/NBG: Some have asked if the female would wait until better weather conditions to lay her first egg - unfortunately once the process has begun and an egg has entered the female's oviduct there is no stopping it.
Got an email message from NBG around 3:30 today with a nice pic of parents in nest with egg
Dear Paula,
The first egg of 2010 has arrived! The egg was laid around 2:15 pm on Sunday, January 31. The adults will now begin incubating this egg, which should hatch in around 37 days.
Evening to those still here. I left for supper and went back to the laptop and now I'm back on the desktop.
Guess I'll put up with refreshing the cam often but wish once you say yes, they'd keep you on. Maybe all the bugs aren't worked out yet. Hope I don't miss the egg tomorrow ,Tuesday, Wednesday, or ... this is why I don't play the lottery - never win.
Was able to Skype with Teresa, hubby Bob, Max and Jared (#1), They showd me the snow they have and word has it that it's the most in 20 years. Now that doesn't sound like a lot to us up here in PA, but she's closer to the ocean/bay. Jared has a week's break from school so he'll entertain his little brother and get on mom's nerves.
About to log off for the night I have PT tomorrow after lunch and am tired of all the testosterone here.
Poor Diann...empty nest takes on a whole new meaning when they come back home, doesn't it?? So sorry you are feeling overwhelmed with too much manhood. Hope your PT is going well---good excuse to get out of the house. Goodnight to you, Margy, Ceil and Judie. Hope Shirley doesn't stay in the recliner all night!
Good night, Wanda! I'm right behind you. Nest is still MT...wonder what our mama bird is doing tonight? Maybe enjoying one last night of freedom?? See you fine fowl friends tomorrow. Prayers.
Helllloooooo!! This Grandmommy has returned! Boy, those boys do take up all your time. We went to church, then after lunch I took them shopping. Joseph needed new jeans and slacks for church. Gotta put a brick on that boys head! He is 9, had to buy 14 slim!! Bought Jacob a new shirt, he is 5 and wears 7 and 8's. We do not have little boys!
After we got back home we played games and then it was time to take them home. We just got home!
See where NBG has an egg. Also, see where Lib and Belle brought in new fluff. Smart birds!
Laurel got a lot done without the boys. She bought groceries, cleaned house, and they went out last night. Then today she woke up feeling bad. She now is sick with a cold.
Then to top that off a little student she had last year died this afternoon...cancer. She got the phone call when we were there. Lots of tears shed...did not help her head.
You never stop hurting when your child hurts....even when they are adults.
Going down the hallway and our nest is still MT. Shirley - Hunter is going to be getting you up from the recliner at 6:30 am if George doesn't do it first!
Good Night All Restful sleep and Pleasant dreams Prayers for everyone's needs/wants Thank you for all our blessings of this day
Thanks for the pictures taken today. Larada, loved the egg pic taken at NBG. Very eggciting! Liked your picture, too, Wanda! Of course we might have to start monitoring you...what you say and what pics you post. lol
Passing through. Nest is empty. Not too much snow there, either.
Happy birthday, Glo and Zach.
Guess I slept through my nest-watching duty, but is seems that no egg was laid.
No, I have not been in the recliner all of this time.
Kathryn called last night to say that Tom will be home today, so Hunter will stay with him. Kathryn needs to go to work early today because auto body shops get very busy in this kind of weather.

both eagles in the Maine nest, and doing HP, thought that Lib and Belle were good, thought these 2 were not going to quit, and she sounded really happy after.

yes Wanda, Maggies Mounties got to plunge, they were at 1, and everyone was fine, all went back to their house for pizza, some even spent the night because of the snow, so they had a full house and they had to get ready for the Baptism, don't know how they do it, but they did:)

VERY SLIPPERY this morning so be careful outside!!
Happy Birthday Glo!
Happy Birthday to Lolly's Zach!
Jungle Jack Hanna will be on Good Morning America (ABC) this morning!
BAD DAISY ate a hole in the corner of a Friendship Quilt my friend Joan made for me. No idea how she got it off the back of the rocker, or why she did it because she's not prone to doing that sort of thing. UGH
Good morning everyone. Thanks for all the Birthday wishes I have a Birthday wish too Lib and Belle. :-) Hope everyone has a good day. I will eat a piece of cake for each of you LOL.
rofl, Wanda, I was thinking the same thing, out of all the eagle cams I watch, they are the messiest, they keep a nest like most ospreys. I think it is just them, not very neat housekeepers

Yea, Shirley, your turn. I have to go to work tomorrow :)
Glad to see our teachers getting to sleep in and enjoy a day off:)
Enjoy your evening and sleep late, Shirley! Wonder if Judie gets to sleep in too?
Hunter will be here by 6:30 AM! Of course, he can watch TV and let me snooze.
None of us have found any way to keep the live cam running any longer than the 10min30sec before we need to say 'ok' and then hit the play button.
Paula may be posing that question to Outdoor .
They aren't gonna change it, many cams do it, so if someone has walked away and isn't watching anymore, they are not using bandwidth. It's expensive to run the cams, and many sites do this. The bear.org cam does this.

I know the purpose of the cut off as far as saving bandwidth and I agree.
I think the concern is: "Why do we need to hit play after we answer the question of Are you still watching with a YES"
Great pictures, Wanda...
I squealed wheels to get home and then squealed wheels reading the blog posts...
Whee doggy, lots of visits but empty nest now....
Hello Everyone ☺
BWE and BWO nests both stuck, eagle nest at 1743 and Osprey nest at 1746
:(
Well, Lisa said that might happen...
And Congratulations Norfolk Eagles !
Yeah, I don't know why it doesn't keep running after you say yes. After a while, I have to refresh the whole page to get it running again.
Well no one has to worry about my using too much bandwidth.... confirmed I do not have enough memory on this computer for the new live cam
So maybe a trip to buy some new memory gizmo this week
WOOF !!!
Moose cam is still running.
Hi Margy -You be careful skidding around out there --- You know about
black ice better than most!
Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan county, wv all on 2 hour delay tomorrow. Lucky...
Wanda...
had to laugh! Indelicate! On here? Are you crazy ??
Never !
Hey, where is Lolly ??
Yep, Mema...I will be careful, I'm getting too old to get laid up!
Spring Birdwatching and Wildflower season just around the corner !
I didn't get home in time to watch the Ch 4 show, well, it took me too long to get to that comment or I might have seen it
Thanks for the tip Hedgie....
I have to work on the 13th is that the Shuttle launch date? Also have to work on the 15th
:(
AND VALENTINE'S DAY :(
Margy I thought Hedgie and Mits were talking about the 7th for the shuttle.
I could be 100% wrong..but they were saying that half time at the Super Bowl could have great entertainment with the launch
Time to squeal my wheels into my pj's...
had enough of these street clothes
Jo, my eagle cam still says it is 9 degrees. Odd.
how about these longer days!
I think it is Moose #12 at the feeder on Pook's cam. There were others but now only this one is in view. He lowers himself by bending his front legs in order to reach the feed bin.
Jo is right, Margy....launch is scheduled for Sun. the 7th.at 4:39 AM!!!
Let's hope for clear skies that night/morning so that we can see it!
Now come on Shirley - lol - On mine it is still 1°
I get a correct temp on other zip codes. I think it just wants to aggravate me.
Hello!!!! I just got a brief ad and video of scenery when I turned on our Live Feed. What's with that?
May be a moose fight over the feed bin going to happen
caveat from NCTC says that they have no control over advertising that appears on live cam!!
May be Alfalfa on the cam now.
Yep, I just got that ad, too.
Time for me to take a break
BBILW
Thanks for your comment on my INDELICATE photo:) No one said anything and I was afraid I had offended some. I have been known to say things that I shouldn't. Tee Hee
That's just me!
It's just natural :) No offense taken here.
Wanda, I'm not offended. I just hope no one was offended with the "V" word the other day.
OK, Jo. After reading your comment on my photo...I HAVE to say "Heads up, I win, tails up, YOU win;)"
You know I'm bad. LOL
That's part of your Tiger Charm, Wanda ☺
Thanks Hedgie, wrote it down, I am OFF that morning...
Oh the big Moose in the Snow, way cool, er, way COLD
Shirley, we shouldn't be offended from hearing a word that we all have...except for our dadsters, and I'm not even going there!;)
Half a rack Moose that is...
I didn't get an ad on the NCTC Live feed, oh, I forgot, I don't have it on :(
LMBO, Margy!
But my Still Cam is working GREAT!
Enjoy your day off tomorrow Shirley...that's a nice thought...did you see, Paula says it's your turn to watch the nest ! ☺
Capt. is all alone with a warm fire, I'd better join him. The fire is in the FIREPLACE!
Think I am going to retire for a few with an overdue library book about Flamingos, and my computer manual....and maybe some ice cream.
with chocolate sauce.
back in a little while
Going to snooze in the recliner.

I finally remember to email the Outdoor Channel about the timer issue and got this response tonight
Hi Paula
Thanks for the response. Yes, we’re aware of the issue with the time-out on the EagleCam. That’s on the to-do list.
Thank you.

Helen, did Kevin get to PLUNGE? We heard that the second group of plungers was canceled.

yes Wanda, Maggies Mounties got to plunge, they were at 1, and everyone was fine, all went back to their house for pizza, some even spent the night because of the snow, so they had a full house and they had to get ready for the Baptism, don't know how they do it, but they did:)
Will go check the other Finland site, Helen, thanks.
PIX PA is off air right now
