JO, when you come back on, the Fort St Vrain (XCel) is the nest in Colorado at which the three chicks failed to survive, the one where they stated one of the adults might have gotten injured and the other adult could not manage the roosting and food-gathering :(
Oh yes I remember. I was like a crazy man. Every place I went that had a computer I was checking on those eggs... I drove my sister crazy with all the updates.
There once was a black bear named Lily Who made usually sane people quite silly Every breath that she took At their monitor's they'd look! Exclaiming, could this be the day, Lily really?
I have gotten a mailing address for Iris's daughter-in-law Doretta, recovering from fall with serious rib/chest injury about two weeks ago. Some of us on the Conowingo trip signed a get well card, and I have signed it "From the Eaglet Momsters" with a brief note of Who We Are ! (per Iris's suggestion; Iris said Doretta knows Iris loves Eagles! )
Lolly - get the word out on an email to all thru Momsters since you are now a certified photo capturer of Live Feed. That is great. The last photo you took of Lily and is now your avatar is great. You really caught a good one.
Oh Lol, on the front of the car is an exquisite cat reposing with its eyes closed, and some hummingbirds on there too...don't know if Doretta is a cat lady, but hope she can relate to the Repose Idea...☺
Tell your nephew you will be in touch when it is banding time at NBG because about a doz or more Momsters will be coming down and need a nights lodging!
Just looked in on yun zi and he is still up on the platform. Read the update and it tells about the keepers day with the bears. It tells how in the morning Yun Zi is in the den but most of the day likes the platform
ARGH!!!! I am ticked off. Tried to rename my photo album....and it threw all of the pics out of order. It will take me forever to redo them! I am kicking myself---I must really be stoooopid.
My jubby left me. Around 3 he headed to Houston. He will be home tomorrow night, probably late. going to veg out tonight watching The Bachelor and Castle while monitoring Lily. If she is sleeping a lot, I might work on slides.
Oh Mits, ISS your area tonight? Not here until Tuesday night, and then for a few days after that... evening veiws, I miss it when it does not show in our area.
Hopefully just looking for nestovers and not going to become a problem for our pair. Although it didn't eat. Just sat ont he edge long enough for 3 photos. When i saw it it was facing me but took a minute to get up photo capture program. By then had turned its head but does stay for 3 captures and you can see its size and shape. Perhaps eyes again in one of the photos.
Yes, Mits....Don't need ANY OF THAT anywhere here, or there... I know it's nature, but still... there are a lot of other "fish in the sea" for owls....
Yes I do think its the Great Horned one. The frontal view made me think right away oh no its an owl. I don't at all like seeing it there. Wish I oculd have gotten he first photo as it was clearly and OMG its an owl at the nest moment. And yes I remember nBG and the owl too.
yes hopefully. Wish I could say I think it might have been an owl and perhaps a GHO but thats not at all what I think. I know what I saw and how long it stayed. It was looking right at the cam when it caught my eye.
Owls are pretty much the only threat to eagles during their nesting and young time. I was tryiing to find some info on line but haven't seen what I am looking for yet. I need to go out tonight. lib and Belle will have their hands full if it wasn't just s brief visit maybe checking for nestovers etc. But Lib and Belle are young and healthy . They haul whales to the nest :-) I think they will hopefully convince mr/mrs owl to go else where.
part of the problem about the owl, at NBG, is that after a fuss with the owl, one of the adults might have landed back down on their eggs too hard.....damaging them. Others can say more about it I think.
I think the first attack was at the egg the eagle had laid, so we waited and she laid another egg, might have been 07, not sure what year....will look around and see if I can find the info.
No I don't think any owl carried off baby eagle. IWS had their Pelican Harbor attacked by rogue eagles I think year before last and knocked both young out of the nest. Nestcam watchers allerted Dr Sharpe and his team and they headed out to get the injured eagles who were taken to the mainland and treated by a vet there.
I don't remember any owls hauling babies off but I do remember them harrassing NBG to the point that they eventually moved back to their old nest. They also had another adult female causing problems at that nest that year too. NOT to worry just yet. Just to watch and be aware.
2008 New nest completed in January. 1st egg laid on February 1 2nd egg laid on February 4. Growth noticed on eaglet’s beak on May 17 Eaglet removed from nest for examination and biopsy on May 22, then transferred to the Wildlife Center of Virginia for care and recovery of Avian Pox. For more details about the disease and recovery see Wildlife Center of Virginia's Norfolk Botanical Garden Eagle page November Adult eagles at NBG began to rebuild old nest. Camera moved back to original location.
LOL Hedgie well thats an idea BUT geesh it took our pair so long to come back this time. I don't know if we mamas can take that maybe just hang a few snakes in some surrounding tees but not go near the nest :-)
Yes Magpie I thbok you are right about the broken egg too. Just lots of drama at that new nest that year. I am actually glad they moved back to their old nest.
this is 2007..... 1st egg laid on January 31. Hatched March 10. Female 2nd egg laid on February 3. Hatched March 13. Male 3rd egg laid on February 7. Hatched March 15. Well I am sure MeMa JO will post pictures for you when she gets back from Cracker Barrel. I am off to a previously snowed out cam club tonight from 10days ago, not the recent pictures contest. Those are for first thurs in Feb. Dex is off to visit the neighbor. Keep you eye on the nest for any return visits.

Yes and we can see them in our nest. All is well enough.

Megan
Your flower avatar is stunning !!
And Glo, I never told you, so is yours !!!
Ain't it purty? it's a sweet william, I'm ordering some seeds now ...
Magpie - that old avatar was hard to figure out. It was a rumbling volcano seen from above. The polar bears are more appropriate.
Carol, I'm glad you told me that, I thought it a Bald Eagle peeking out of a snowy nest !
Seems like I should get to the eye doctor's !!
Thanks Magpie you will probably be seeing it for a while, maybe forever. :-)
sunlight blazing at NCTC right now, glad the birds came in before that....
Well, Megan, keep me in mind when you order those seeds because I will gobble some flowers up at Market !!
Yes, Glo, it is really perfect, your soaring eagle
JO,
when you come back on, the Fort St Vrain (XCel) is the nest in Colorado at which the three chicks failed to survive, the one where they stated one of the adults might have gotten injured and the other adult could not manage the roosting and food-gathering :(
I think I might find some energy outdoors and in the sun while it lasts...
going to head out for awhile.
Hello all, and so long for now
xoxo ☺ ♥
Oh I forgot, I clicked on Donnie's site, and remember now all those fanatastic photos...think Donnie's camera might be like Bob's !
Donnie, stay around....
Carol, you too !!
This is the best time of the year coming up
I will go put my pictures on the Momsters album, with the right dates...first, before I leave
Oh yes I remember. I was like a crazy man. Every place I went that had a computer I was checking on those eggs... I drove my sister crazy with all the updates.
I'have the still camera now. I'll be checking in on a regular basis now. Thanks everyone
Thanks Mag, I have to update everything. I have not taken the time to do anythng on that blog. This is a great excuse to get back into it again.
Thanks Mag, I have to update everything. I have not taken the time to do anythng on that blog. This is a great excuse to get back into it again.

There once was a black bear named Lily
Who made usually sane people quite silly
Every breath that she took
At their monitor's they'd look!
Exclaiming, could this be the day, Lily really?
Lolly You are going to need a a separate album for just Lily's pics.
Yes, Jo, I probably should create a Lily album. lol It is just so fascinating that she has such a huge amount of fans.
Mits - NBG - Is that a zoom or is that a zoom! WOWSIE! What a close up
yep that is really a ZOOM:)
just want to reach out and scracth its head...
I sure hope that Shirley has this up for Hunter and the same goes for Lynne if she is still trying to find a good cam for visiting little gal.
Jo, I just practiced saving a pic from NBG. It worked...I feel so clever. lol
What a beautiful closeup that is at NBG!
Norfolk does an awesome job showing off their eagles in all their beauty. They are a thrill to watch for sure.
There is such a great close up of the eagle at Norfolk. WOW
(per Iris's suggestion; Iris said Doretta knows Iris loves Eagles! )
So I will mail that off this afternoon....
Ok, not getting anything accomplished what with looking at Lily and NBG. Going to get busy, but will be peeking in occasionally.

Iris said if she (Iris) had been in Pa, she would have probably made it for the Conowingo Expedition ! ☺
Great Margy! I am so glad you thought of doing that.
Know what you mean, Lolly!
I am not up on anything right now but NCTC...

Lolly - get the word out on an email to all thru Momsters since you are now a certified photo capturer of Live Feed. That is great. The last photo you took of Lily and is now your avatar is great. You really caught a good one.
Margy I'll email you Deb's pic to print out if you want. You may already have it in you saved photos.
Oh Lol, on the front of the car is an exquisite cat reposing with its eyes closed, and some hummingbirds on there too...don't know if Doretta is a cat lady, but hope she can relate to the Repose Idea...☺

Hope there is not too much excitement at NBG this year
yes, would be nice to have a boring season at that cam
Yun Zi is up on the platform sleeping.
Gnite, all, have a great evening...see ya tomorrow!
I just read the same thing...sounds alot like the day the keepers have at NZ
darn Lynn, sorry about that, take a break...
darn missed the fly-over of ISS
owl at the nest
gone
Lynn your not stupid. These machines do what they want sometimes. They are haunted.
Sorry,Lynn! No,you are not stooooooopid!!!!
did you get a pic, Glo?
My jubby left me. Around 3 he headed to Houston. He will be home tomorrow night, probably late.
going to veg out tonight watching The Bachelor and Castle while monitoring Lily. If she is sleeping a lot, I might work on slides.
YES sent 3 photos to MeMa Jo
stayed a little over a minute
Oh Glo first I thought WHICH NEST ???

Then realized when you said would email to Jo, must be Valmont
Baby Moon in the West/Southwest sky, thought newborn but it's too big!
Riding out the evening with Jupiter.
Our nest Magpie
Oh Mits, ISS your area tonight?
Not here until Tuesday night, and then for a few days after that...
evening veiws, I miss it when it does not show in our area.
Hope everyone is doing well tonight
don't kick yourself too hard, Lynn....no more injuries allowed on here !!!
Finally managed to get back on this computer. It goes offline and online. It took about 30 minutes to log on.
There are plenty of reasons I stopped using it. In addition to the problems with logging on, there is no sound.
Lily's up
Oh, no sound, I know how miserable that can be Shirley!
Perhaps eyes again in one of the photos.
it was only a minute fly-by, Margy, same for tomorrow night only a little later...I think on Friday night it is supposed to be 5 minutes
I think Paula's avatar is from Conowingo....
OUR NEST !!! That's the first I ever heard of an Owl BEING in the nest Glo! That is awesome, any idea what kind it was ???
well i remember what a problem the owl was at Norfolk...hope it stays away
Yes, Mits....Don't need ANY OF THAT anywhere here, or there...
I know it's nature, but still...
there are a lot of other "fish in the sea" for owls....
In all the time I have watched, don't think I ever remember an owl there, but who knows this cam has been down alot too.
Yes I do think its the Great Horned one. The frontal view made me think right away oh no its an owl. I don't at all like seeing it there. Wish I oculd have gotten he first photo as it was clearly and OMG its an owl at the nest moment. And yes I remember nBG and the owl too.
Well, it is the breeding season for Great Horneds...hopefully he or she will be well-distracted by other delights than leftover fish....
so guess someone needs to volunteer to go to the nest and chase it away, I never knew the damage they could do till I saw it at Norfolk
think I will sneak a peek at a few cams west of here, see how back I can get my computer to freeze up
Glo are you going to put the picture of the owl on your blog?
Lolly, loved your limerick about Lily!
late this afternoon, something was bothering the eagles at NBG, hope it was not an owl
What happened at Norfolk with an owl?
i am assuming that an owl is a threat to the young eaglets.
yes hopefully. Wish I could say I think it might have been an owl and perhaps a GHO but thats not at all what I think. I know what I saw and how long it stayed. It was looking right at the cam when it caught my eye.
must have back on the mind, mine for example...
that would be how BAD I can freeze the machine up
Someone talking on Lily's page the other day mentioned watching eagle cams and said she saw a baby eagle carried off...was that it?
Maybe Nu better climb the tree and hang a rubber snake! That's supposed to chase away owls, I think!
No I don't think any owl carried off baby eagle. IWS had their Pelican Harbor attacked by rogue eagles I think year before last and knocked both young out of the nest. Nestcam watchers allerted Dr Sharpe and his team and they headed out to get the injured eagles who were taken to the mainland and treated by a vet there.

don't look now...
been wondering where the raccoons at Pix Pa have been, they are at the carcass site at this time....

I forgot about the intruding female that year
LOL Hedgie well thats an idea BUT geesh it took our pair so long to come back this time. I don't know if we mamas can take that
maybe just hang a few snakes in some surrounding tees but not go near the nest :-)
great summary Mits, that answers a lot of questions, I was just beginning to watch in 2008
Lily is restless.
wow, Margy you picked an eventful year....off to fix dinner, no House tonight:(
Yes Magpie I thbok you are right about the broken egg too. Just lots of drama at that new nest that year. I am actually glad they moved back to their old nest.
this is 2007.....

wow, thanks Mits....lots of drama. Not sorry I missed it.
