Quick stop before I go out for the next round of shoveling. Hope everyone is staying warm. If you're shoveling - pace yourself. No heart attacks please!
Hi everyone, just checking in. There is an eagle in the nest. Looks like it's cleaning out the cup.
We only had flurries this afternoon and after watching the other cams, we escaped this one. Daughter in Chesapeake had lots so Max got to play a bit in the snow. She's getting rain/ice now.
One more day in January then we watch for an egg in February. Before the groundhog sees his shadow?
Thanks so much Steve for our new snowy thread! Hubby is using the leaf blower on this light fluffy 7-8" of snow which is still lightly coming down. We'll be ok as long as the wind stays down!
I'll be back to look at pics, Bob. I just scanned this thread to see if Mits has touched base - need to go back on old thread.
First I am going to enjoy a warmed up bowl of yummy chili!
Things seemed to have quieted down a bit on the scanner. Margy should be getting off in a few minutes...glad that she can come through town and not have to travel far or on back roads. Hope her relief personnel all make it in!
I wasn't certain this am if it was Tai I was watching out in the snow - but I guess it was. I thought maybe they would protect him from getting the sniffles and not let him out.... So glad they did.
I can't find any coverage yet on the Polar Bear Plunge. Just mainly concerned that all of Maggie's Mounties made it home.....
I guess we have about 8-10 inches of snow! I am so over this weather! Spring needs to hurry! I am already envisioning myself on the boat in the hot sun!!!
Iris, so good to hear Doretta is recovering so well. Bless her heart. Life really, truly can change on a dime!!
Georgeous pictures, Bob. Thank you so much for sharing.
Hi Andy.
Sissy, listen to Jo. Take care and see a dr. if you need to.
Hi Lynn. Tai coverage on news here. Big cake and playing in the snow. Sure hate to see the panda guy leave us. Understand his farewell party will be revisited tomorrow. Only about 150 fans today because of the extreme cold.
Hoping Margy gets home and can stay home to get some well-deserved rest.
yeah, lots more snow than I expected, and just as many wrecks as I expected...never fails. Fortunately, few injuries, nothing serious, but the day did start out with a stabbing ! Someone couldn't get along with someone else...one transport, one arrest.
have to chuckle when Andrea talks about "Hay Fever" ...haven't heard that expression for a long time...my mother always suffered from it, poor gal, couldn't enjoy fresh cut flowers were much
Will sure be good to hear about the Polar Bear Plunge when the news comes around about that
Sissy Get thee some antibiotics...Mema is right, those things don't cure themselves very easily. Hope you feel better soon !
Can't sit in front of a computer for very long after 12 long hours in front of five screens and a bunch of yacking radios...had to call an extra person in, but all the night shift folks showed up ready to go....
Hope our Polar Bear Plunger and family and friends are all safe and warming up! Tomorrow is the big day of baptism for Benjamin ! Anxious to see some pics of the little man.
Good evening all. Checking in to say the plunge was great. Have to give them so much credit. I was there to shiver for them. Weather man was wrong. We did not have fluffy we had heavy wet and made coming home really bad but we are home and ready to hit the sheetz. No egg today so far. Pleasant dreams all.
Good Evening, Eagleland! Hello to all the old-timers and new friends. A word of introduction to those who don't know me. I joined the gang in the year of Spunky! Even saw him take his first flight. I peek in from time to time, but will be here more regularly now that it's egg time.
Steve and I took Daisy for a walk in the snow...what a goof! Got some pics and will post later. We ended up with about 5 inches but the roads are much worse than I've seen with more snow. Guess the crews were not "ready".
Forgot to watch the Hallmark movie :( Hope it's on again.
Have a good evening all and prayers for everyone....see you tomorrow!
Well, NW PA missed the snow for once. We have about 3 inches on the ground from Thursday, but it is COLD. Went Friday about 60 miles north of here to see a Snowy Owl. It was a mature male on a fencepost behind a farmer's barn. The farmer is a birder and invited us to drive into the barnyard so we didn't have to go through snow and ice. His wife came outside with a plate of warm from the oven chocolate chip cookies. Such nice people! The owl will probably be a once in a lifetime sighting. The PBS Eagle program was on again this afternoon. Can't wait for our eaglets.
Boys are in bed and finally quiet. What is it about bathtime that energizes them? They got to acting silly and were two "Wild Things!!" But they are settled now and I can put my feet up.
Have read back through the blog. Wanda, head to the nest with a hair dryer. Gotta melt that snow from the nest!!! Glad I did not see Belle sitting on the snow. I am now worried about this year for Belle and for NBG.
boo...I'm here, just briefly, just want to touch base, day was great, Maggie was only there briefly, but then took Annie 3 hours to get back home....looks like most counties believed the weatherman , oh well, it is what is is, main reason I jumped on was to wish Megan a very Happy Birthday!!!!:)
Thanks, Margy and Lynne:) Granny blt that is so cool! Glad you got to see the owl and meet some other great birders. Margy, you crack me up...hubby doesn't make dessert, he consumes it...
another busy day tomorrow, so goodnight and prayers for all, and God Bless all those wonderful plungers...BTW, there was a great horned owl, a barred owl and a red tail hawk, there today...I got the info, it is some rescue place near Baltimore...the birds were fabulous, thought I had died and gone to heaven...within the next few days will read their material and let you know about them...off to get under the down comforter
GrannyBLT IF you got a pic of the Snowy Owl please put it on your avatar. What a sight it was for you - and warm fresh out of the oven chocolate chip cookies. WOW what an event!
Evening~~~back for a little while.Been sitting here going thru pics. Put a new set on & had added the owl twin the other day!
This AM, I was surprised that road to the Park where they had oil spill TU, was still closed today by workers even tho the sign said "One Lane Ahead"! HA! The big block bypass has some mean hills, so we went out a back way to next road up by the Mt. Calvert Mansion you can see from the River.Always something!
Megan, you mean your MIL didn't even bake you a cake? Boo!!
Mits, so glad your day was a good one. Hope everyone had fun, and that no one gets sick!! Great that you got to see some good wildlife! Enjoy the special day tomorrow, too! Love christenings!!
Granny, how cool that the owl is a dependable fixture on that fencepost! And that the owners are SO accommodating!! Hope to see a pic!
Lolly, I find that the only way to get the girls to settle down, even now at 11and 15, is to put them in seperate rooms to sleep! I put one on a cot in the office and one on the sofa in the sunroom.
Good night to all. I'm not far behind those of you already gone. Hope everyone elses' snow has ended by now. Mine was like a HUGE box of Ivory Flakes. If I had any air to spare, I could have blown it off the decks!! Almost felt silly using the shovel, but didn't want to tramp it down to get to where the leaf blower was stowed!
Prayers and peace. Will check nest again after bath and when I'm up during the night.
Yes, we usually separate them. However, instead of sleeping in the bedrooms, they have recently discovered the sofa in the living room makes into a queen size bed and they both love it. They are in sleeping bags on that bed. lol My two guest rooms are empty!
Passing through. All is well. Nest is empty. I do hope the snow will blow or melt out of the nest very soon, but it looks like it will be pretty cold there.
At 1:28 AM i brought up the nest and there set Belle poor thing setting in the snow..Paula is on facebook and told her right away too.. She was wake n moving her head now looks like she is trying to rest ..
Me too strange if you say she wasnt in theer earlier and now she is... God i have small windows all ovr my screen to watching for my Sun Flowers to pop an harvest on Farmville.. Well im not sleepy to eggcited now
Oh earlier she was facing to the left, then she had her head down towards the back, couldn't see her head. Then she moved with her tail to the cam, dug in the bowl and layed down. She tucked her head back.
well she seems to be resting now but she had to fly in between Wanda n Jim last post and when i saw her at 1:28 and told you .. so u posted her at 1:31am .. I ris and i said same we hope she doesnt have an egg under her yet.. we got atleast 6 inches of snow here..
I logged off facebook.. yeah well gona try n lay down on bed n watch tv and keep an eye on her to.. Lets pray she doesnt lay an egg til this weather gets better.. Niters, Nilla
Just checked on Belle she seems to be sleeping.. slight wind blowing..Its almost 4:45am and i hope with the dawns early light Liberty brings in food and she gets up to reveal no egg yet.. Just to cold..Good Night or Good Morning.. Nilla
hI, everyone. I'm up again in the middle of the night and decided to check a couple of snowy nests....
Boy, am I surprised to see Belle in the nest now. I don't think she has laid or will soon though. She's got her head tucked in tightly, snoozzzzzzzzzzzzzzing away.
It's probably her 'night before', plus they need to clear that egg cup of snow if she is going to lay her first soon.
Has anyone seen the egg cup recently?? Eggs? Snow?
Good sunday morning to all in Eagleland. Got up early this am to see how the nest was doing only to see it full of snow and an eagle sitting in the nest! Oh no! They couldn't be starting their family with all this snow!
I think they must be at least getting ready to lay them soon.
Belle was not in the nest when I first went to bed, but there was some snow in the cup.
Probably they will try to clear the egg cup as much as possible in the morning and then lay down some dry grasses. She'll probably lay the first one in the next day or less.
They've been "bonding" frequently in the last week, so it's hard to tell what to start the clock from. But she could lay her first today.
GOOD MORNING... Good to see you Miss Candy! Belle is still in the egg cup, looking around. If she hasn't laid an egg yet, it won't be long. It is 1° here. I can assure you that it is warm and toasty underneath her:)
Hope everything is doing well on your end WANDA. Josh was home for a little over a week and went back two days early to get ahead of the storm,. We had a very nice visit.
The only things better about one is that they aren't pecking each other all the time, and there isn't an undersized chick that has to wait to eat until the bigger ones get theirs.
I'm predicting 3 will be laid, and, barring tragedy, all 3 will hatch this year.
JIM They will be a lot of people on here who are hoping you are right, but I do feel sorry for the heck pecking going on. So we are looking for 3 then. :)
Woke up and checking in on Belle..Ooooo she is standing up No i dont see any egg although she was moving the egg bowl grass around.. She flew off at 6:49am from nest...
May the sun come out and milt someoth that snow off the nest. Have a good rest Jim. WANDA church has been cancelled here for today. I just hope we have school tomorrow. We still have one day to make up for that Noreaster that went through here.
Candy, our church NEVER CANCELS. One Sunday we had a bad ice and snow storm and 8 people showed up, but the sermon went on as though the pews were filled:) BBL
Well, I am so grateful I didn't know Belle was in the nest during the night. That would have been a big worry. Looks MT now but she certainly has that cup melted out.
Good morning SHARON. I got up and saw her sitting on the nest and prayed that she hadn't layed an egg yet The egg cup is free of snow, but I hope the nest finally can get some sun on it to melt that cold snow before she lays
Good morning everyone. Time to pull up the cam and bring on the sunshine. I do wonder how BWE is doing with this strom but haven't checked. No one home at NBG that is good. I had a great afternoon with the eagles yesterday and plan to head back over to the dam after church today. 2 sunny days in a row without 0 temperatures. Its so crowded over there you can hardly find a spot to stand but the passion for the eagles is also there and that is a fun way to spend an afternoon. Have a Blessed Sunday. Going to watch the nest now and get ready for coffee and dog treats and then church.
GOOD MORNING SNOWY EAGLE BUDDIES!!-----PAULA--NILLA---MARGY--JIM--CANDY--WANDA--SHARON--GLO & SHIRLEY!!---WHOA!---HELLO 'SUNNY'---Always great to welcome someone who remembers--'SPUNKY'--will never forget SPUNKY!!

We have about 4-5 inches here near Shepherdstown. Not to worry about Belle, I think she knows she has to hang in there until the snow is gone!

Wow Jo you got a lot more than me...
my neighbor was using the leaf blower, too.
Earlier when you said about having a few inches, Paula, we already had quite a few.
Leaf blower is doing a great job - Most of the deck is cleared.
Things seemed to have quieted down a bit on the scanner. Margy should be getting off in a few minutes...glad that she can come through town and not have to travel far or on back roads. Hope her relief personnel all make it in!
Love your pics, Bob!
I sure like the variety of pic, Bob.
#30 looks like Lonely Louie! The woodpecker is fantastic. So are the TV's. Thanks for sharing.
I suppose they both had come in to turn on the night light.
Still covering Tai farewells on the news. Calling him the most popular guy in town...I'll second that emotion!
Time to eat. BBL.
Snow has stopped here.
Mom didn't get any just north of St. Louis---glad for her.
Zoo closed at 1pm. Festivities will resume tomorrow. Tai was sleeping in the snow! What a cutie.
Might be an egg roll at BWE
I do like our Live Feed and Sound!!!
Good evening everyone! Great pics Bob! Wish I had your talent for taking pics.
I have managed to get a sinus infection or something, just started this afternoon, but man I feel rough!!
I guess we have about 8-10 inches of snow! I am so over this weather! Spring needs to hurry! I am already envisioning myself on the boat in the hot sun!!!
Iris, so good to hear Doretta is recovering so well. Bless her heart. Life really, truly can change on a dime!!
Hi Sissy - take care of yourself. Those infections don't go away all by themselves. I am also ready for daffodils!
Sissy - Is Mattie's email 'Frontier' or 'Live'
Hi, Gang!
Sissy, I'm saying a healing prayer for you! Sure do know how miserable that feels! Hoping for a speedy recovery for you!
We went and saw 'When in Rome'. It's pretty good light entertainment.
Bob, the new pictures are great! Thanks for posting them.
Well, gotta run again~~Hubby's starting a recorded TV show he wants me to watch, too. BBL!
Mattie is frontier.com, Jo.
Thank you Steve.

Hoping Margy gets home and can stay home to get some well-deserved rest.
Dinner is over and both boys are quietly playing. Will be bath time shortly, then to bed.

Just checked on Lily and cub. Cubby was crying, but is now making the purring noise. So cute! All is well in their world.
BTW, I didn't see NBG nest before dark, but there seems to be one darkish spot. Don't know if it's shadow or a bird.?
BBL---pill time
New Pics are great, Loretta.
Larada, I just checked out NBG. I can not make anything out. I was thinking that if there was an eagle possibly we would see her eye gleaming.
Megan, you mean your MIL didn't even bake you a cake? Boo!!
Mits, so glad your day was a good one. Hope everyone had fun, and that no one gets sick!! Great that you got to see some good wildlife! Enjoy the special day tomorrow, too! Love christenings!!

It's all good...who needs cake when I got cookies and ice cream:)
Yes, we usually separate them. However, instead of sleeping in the bedrooms, they have recently discovered the sofa in the living room makes into a queen size bed and they both love it. They are in sleeping bags on that bed. lol My two guest rooms are empty!
I am getting sleepy. Time to shower and get comfy.
Nite all! Sweet dreams!
I see that our nest is MT..

She dug in the nest a tad, then layed down facing left...then just tucked her head back
I don't think there's an egg...
that might be the wind I heard, and not a vehicle
Yes she looked around hearing the vehicle n settled back in head back in wing.. I didnt see any egg when she was standing up..
I logged off facebook.. yeah well gona try n lay down on bed n watch tv and keep an eye on her to.. Lets pray she doesnt lay an egg til this weather gets better.. Niters, Nilla

Right now you can see all of Belle better on the Still Cam than the live feed....

xo
hI, everyone.

Belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY Megan and Mits , glad to hear that the Polar plunge went ok and all got back home safely.
AND Benjamin is getting baptised today! How wonderful MITS!
Hi, Candy. Long time no talk.
But she could lay her first today.

good morning to you Jim. I was shocked to see her in the egg cup this am when I got up to look. I haven't seen her up at all yet
What horrible weather to decide to have the first egg. We even got a little snow here on the Outer Banks. I was hoping that our nest missed missed it.
Somebody commented that it would only 'dust' the area, but obviously Mother Nature is a dusting freak sometimes.

Jim
I haven't seen her get up yet, but she just raised her head.

GOOD MORNING...
Good to see you Miss Candy!
Belle is still in the egg cup, looking around. If she hasn't laid an egg yet, it won't be long.
It is 1° here. I can assure you that it is warm and toasty underneath her:)
Food morning WANDA. I have been having the pic up at school lately, but was hoping they would wait until it was a little nicer weather.
Hope everything is doing well on your end WANDA. Josh was home for a little over a week and went back two days early to get ahead of the storm,. We had a very nice visit.
BWE is up and turning eggs. They got a lot of snow too.

Jim
I sure hope this is the last snow storm and that we see Megan's flowers popping out of the ground soon. Spring is my time of year.
Blackwater has two eggs right?
Good to see you too, Gentleman Jim:) This is getting so exciting...the fun and worrying is about to begin!
Yes, Candy, 2 just like last year. I so hope we have more than one baby. Hidey was fun to watch, but nearly as fun as the three the year before:)
I agree with you there. I just hope that the weather is good to Liberty and Belle.
The only things better about one is that they aren't pecking each other all the time, and there isn't an undersized chick that has to wait to eat until the bigger ones get theirs.
I'm predicting 3 will be laid, and, barring tragedy, all 3 will hatch this year.
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
Yeah, Wanda. Good to 'see' you too.
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
JIM They will be a lot of people on here who are hoping you are right, but I do feel sorry for the heck pecking going on. So we are looking for 3 then. :)
BELLE LEFT THE NEST....NO EGG!!
Thank goodness:)
Woke up and checking in on Belle..Ooooo she is standing up No i dont see any egg although she was moving the egg bowl grass around.. She flew off at 6:49am from nest...
Now back to bed... Have agreat day.. Nilla
It sure is nice not to see an egg in that cup yet.
May the sun come out and milt someoth that snow off the nest.
I posted the photos of Belle in the nest and the empty nest on E M Album. Some on my WILD AND WONDERFUL TOO.
Have a blessed Sunday:)
Have a great day. I'm heading back to the sack for a while...

May the sun come out and milt someoth that snow off the nest. Have a good rest Jim. WANDA church has been cancelled here for today. I just hope we have school tomorrow. We still have one day to make up for that Noreaster that went through here.
BELLE IS BACK CHECKING TO SEE IF SHE MADE A MISTAKE AND LEFT AN EGG BEHIND;)
The sun is starting to shine on the BWE nest. Hope it will follow soon on our nest
Some Starlings landed on the nest; a large flock of them flew through the nest's airspace; and then one of our eagles landed.
I think it's Belle, and she's back in the egg cup.

Jim
He/she took off again. I'm betting there will be some dry grasses in the area of the egg cup before long.

Jim
Hate to leave, but gotsto!
I seem to be having trouble . Is she still on the nest?
Candy, our church NEVER CANCELS. One Sunday we had a bad ice and snow storm and 8 people showed up, but the sermon went on as though the pews were filled:)
BBL
Well, I am so grateful I didn't know Belle was in the nest during the night. That would have been a big worry. Looks MT now but she certainly has that cup melted out.
Our church never cancelled before that I can rememmber, but we don't have the equipment down here to keep our roads in driving condition
This time I'm really going back to the rack.
Talk to you all later.... Hi, Sharon.
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
Good morning SHARON. I got up and saw her sitting on the nest and prayed that she hadn't layed an egg yet The egg cup is free of snow, but I hope the nest finally can get some sun on it to melt that cold snow before she lays
JIM, I'll believe it when I hear you snoring. :)
Good morning. Nest MT. I can see where Belle has melted away some snow.
