Monday

Cold and windy thread.  I suspect the cam issues are related to the wind...  they're working on it.

Inquiring minds definitely want to know! :)

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

I am really trying to think happy thoughts with Donna today but it gets hard sometimes.

This nasty cough is also driving me nuts, pulling muscles that I really don't want pulled! :)

normabyrd said...

GOOD MORNING & THANKS STEVE for the new FROSTY thread!!---Thanks MEGAN for the call over!!

floralgirl said...

((HUGS)) Sharon, sure it is a rough day for all of you.
You are still sick?

glo said...

I am glad you are in where it is warm Megan Dex and I are back in and plan to stay that way except for very breif minutes about every 4 hours :-).

Sharon did you see my message to you aobut Mucinex on facebook yesterday. Its a little costly but it does work really well for oTC medication. Just a thought.

floralgirl said...

ah yes, about every 4 hours...my dog gets out there and wants to stay out...but I do not. He is sighing heavily now because I mentioned to him that he needed a bath...

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Yes Megan, still sick. Kind of felt feverish this morning but of course the battery in the thermometer is dead. Coughing is hurting my whole rib cage so . . .

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Glo, I am taking Mucinex, Tylenol, and Tessalon Perles for the cough.

normabyrd said...

WHOA!---I just read 'some material' about the Kindle book!---#1--not cheap!----But would love to try one out!!---ONLY sold by AMAZON! --- Lots of used ones at about $174---Books are about $9.00---& it isn't only for books---it covers newspapers--magazines, etc!!----doesn't weigh much, etc---sounds COOL to me---Will talk with LOLLY & JACK after they try theirs out!!
PS--won't talk today--LOLLY has a big football game!!--her alma mater is playing this afternoon'?

normabyrd said...

BLUEFIELD SHARON & T-DOG---Oh you folks have been 'not feeling well' way to long!---Maybe you should check with a Dr---Would probably be cheaper than all that over the counter meds!---This weather isn't made for folks with colds, etc.--I am older than both of you --- so--YOU HEAR????

MEGAN---Do you get a break---or have you started reading your seed catalogs?---

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Morning again everyone!!

glo said...

OK Sharon Get your butt to the Dr before you have pneumnia. If that stuff isn't helping you are needing more.

floralgirl said...

Well, how did you know that, Norma? I am surrounded by seed catalogs, although I am supposed to be working on taxes and cleaning house.

Mema Jo said...

I just had a 'conflicting comment'
Who was it? You all know my memory isn't as good as it once was - I think I said Good Morning All!
I also told Sharon & Thelma to get to the Drs... I think I made a comment about Topsy Turvy - think that was the cam situation.
I know I said that I was going to read back to see it Daisy ate yet.......

normabyrd said...

WELCOME BACK SISSY!!---What's new?---You folks don't have school today??---MERCER CO?

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
Norma, seed catalogs are so very welcome here! Capt. Gene is reading one right now...his main focus is on tomatoes and squash. My favorite veggie to grow is peppers. Nothing did very well last year. Need to rotate the crops this year...haven't done that in a while.
GG plants her spinach the first week in March and it does REALLY well. Last year, the ground was too frozen to even scratch the soil. Hope she can do it this year, it is her greatest joy!

Dustin has held my computer and office hostage for a week, now I need to use it to pay bills that have really piled up over the holidays. Hope Santa left me enough funds to pay all of them:)

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

How do you tell the difference in a crow and a raven?

hedgie said...

Sending lots of hugs to Sharon and Sissy today---((( ))) Hard day, I'm sure.

Mema Jo said...

Nest cam was getting better
with only the line

Now it is topsy turvy again.......
Now it is back to lot of lines!

Lolly said...

Cold day here. Was in the 20's this morning, sun shining and now up to 32, and the wind is blowing something fierce! And, yes, saw something silvery and shiny pass by. Think it is headed to CA!

normabyrd said...

YOU GO LOLLY!!----I thought it was this afternoon!!----WHO do you play?----so EXCITING!!----IS JACK'S school in the play-offs too?----

Lynne2 said...

HUGS and prayers for Sharon and Bev today.

Sharon, a raven is much bigger. Usually alone (crow usually travel together in a "murder"). They sort of have a less smooth feather look on breast and head. Very large beak. Make a deep "caw" sound instead of higher pitched and more constant sound of a crow. HOWEVER, it's not that easy to tell them apart if you have never actually seen a raven in person.

Lolly said...

Norma...GA TECH is playing in the Orange Bowl. I think the game is Wednesday. Sure wish they were playing each other. That would have been such fun!

We are playing Boise State. They have also had an undefeated season.

hedgie said...

Good---not a structure fire! Not clear whether it's a water leak or if sprinkler put out fire----whatever, thank goodness it's not serious!!!

Lynne2 said...

now I've got to go get ready for my job interview...see y'all later!

paula eagleholic said...

Sharon, I think a raven is bigger than a crow!

hedgie said...

Shar, never heard of Tessalon Perles....what are they??
Mucinex is great stuff-----get the DM if coughing (dextromethorphan)!
Don't you think it's time to go to the doc, girlfriend??? Sounds like at least bronchitis, and maybe even pneumonia....:(

Lolly said...

I am leaving to eat a bite of breakfast, do my walking, and put up some decorations. I say "some" as it is such a huge project. It is going to take me most of the week to get this done. Going to do it slowly. lol

Have a great day everyone! (((HUGS))) to Sissy and Sharon. (((HUGS))) for Dana as well. Remember the good times!

BBL (((Hugs))) for all!

Lolly said...

Good luck on your interview, Lynne!

Yes, a Raven is much bigger than a crow.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Yeah, I am thinking maybe time for doc as well. Don't have insurance right now so not sure where to go except maybe ER.

If ravens travel alone, then these are crows that come here because there are several at a time.

normabyrd said...

WHOA LOLLY!!---I never dreamed I would meet a 'PURPLE FROG'?---Let alone---ROOT FOR A PURPLE FROG!!---Now that is way out----ho!----YOU GO FROGS!!

hedgie said...

GOOD LUCK, LYNNE!!!! DId Daisy eat yet??

Norma, is T-Dog a new name for Thelma because of Buddy, and all of Shars' dogs???

I, too, liked Matewan---and many of those PBS shows, Norma. BUT I mute the TV when those ASPCA ads come on---I bawl everytime if I watch/listen to them.

Good luck, Lynne!

Sharon, sorry you're still ailing. I had bronchitis a couple months ago & Dr. gave me an RX cough med to stop the coughing. It's Tussionex & can make you sleepy, but that was a relief!!!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Yeah, Normabyrd, have a bunch of them that come through here everyday, at least 10 at a time. Didn't know if I was naming them right saying they were crows but I guess I am.

Late last night, I clicked on EENet home page, the Estonia Edu. site that has listed several woodsy & a bird feeder cam. It has the link Helen gave us for the feed in the snow.It is the White-tailed Eagle Cam. 2 wild boar cams showed birds feeding! One closeup had a ledge w/ birdseed ball hanging above it & 2 red Xmas balls! There was a lovely small, yellow, grey, blk. & white finch like bird I have to look up & sparrows.

magpie said...

Thanks Loretta, the first day Mits posted the still cam site I also saw some Magpies, or thought I did...

I know there are some good players on the Washington team....just don't think it is one person only responsible for the season, and think a lot of it started during the off-season....Hope all works out well for all the people involved, including, the loyal fans.

Better stop while I am ahead.
Trying to get ready to go but moving slowly...I will bundle up, Hedgie...at least the winds have died down ☺

normabyrd said...

NATURE NUT----love your RED CARDINAL---That is our state bird!---Aren't they beautiful in the snow!!!

normabyrd said...

HEDGIE---I heard it on the news!

floralgirl said...

In the winter months if it is foggy or wet in the morning, the vultures line up on the fenceposts in the field next to us to dry their wings and wait for warm air currents. Sometimes more than 40 at at time. Last week we watched a fox walk by them, most raised their wings at him, some flew away, he just ignored them.

magpie said...

Sounds great, Megan...and that is really a prize-winning photo.

Something rather dark and red and tasty looking in the BWE nest.

Headed out soon, TTFN all.

hedgie said...

The security escort off of property is a real bugger in my opinion. Our local hospital did it, too, to professional people who had been there for 25 yrs. Have seen GM do it, too. They are so afraid that someone will get MAD at being let go, and will try to sabotage records or something. Very insulting---JMHO. Sometimes they won't even give people time to gather their personal belongings----they will "send them" later.

hedgie said...

Great photo, Megan!!! An award winner!
BTW----the epoxy did such a good job that the white pine has not even started to brown on the ends, either! Like a two-fer benefit!!! Do you use any kind of preservative when you make wreaths? You might want to try the epoxy!

floralgirl said...

Don't think it would work for my purposes, glad it worked for you tho. I don't use any kind of preservatives on my wreaths.

Mema Jo said...

BWE is in the nest
Don't know if it is Lord or Lady

The length looks like the Lady

Mema Jo said...

Wowsie Both the Lady & Lord
Blackwater are in the nest!

Mema Jo said...

Now you can really see which one is larger and is the Lady........

Costume Lady said...

I have recorded that Lord & Lady B. had their first egg Jan. 23 last year. Just a week before our first egg. Won't be long now...Hope Steve lives up to his word and gets live feed going for us!

Mema Jo said...

The Moose behind the bush is still there.

Costume Lady said...

I see BWE has corn husks and fresh pine again...same as last year, just close to egg laying time:)
Remember the husk last year had a cob in it along with a small amount corn. Food for a rainy day:)

Hi, Eagle Gang!
Boy, it feels good to be here, and especially to be sitting still for a while! Went and fed the bulldogs, and cleaned up the house a bit for SIL. They should be home pretty soon. Went to the bank and the post office on the way home from there. Need to straighten up my house more, and DO LAUNDRY! Good Lord, I don't know where it all comes from! Haven't started taking down the Christmas decorations yet. Probably either tomorrow or Wednesday. Must get all lights on the artificial tree to light BEFORE I put it away, or I will hate myself next year! Will take a while, but will be worth it.
(((HUGS))) to Sharon, Sissy, and family. Know how rough a day like today can be. I'll be thinking of you and saying some prayers.
(((HUGS))) for Dana, too!
Hope Lynne's job interview goes well! Prayers for that, too!
Also hope Sharon's Dr. appt. will leave her with some really helpful medication! Will be anxiously awaiting news about that.

Taking a break! Have really got a lot put away. What I have done is put away the stuff I store in doors. Will gather the stuff I put in the attic into the dining room to be boxed. I really need to get rid of some. I have way too much!

Guess now we are waiting to hear from Sharon as well as Lynne.

Yes, NORMA you now know a purple frog.....cause that is what I am!!!Actually, the "horned frog" is actually a lizard, but that is beside the point! lol A Horned frog is a unique mascot...we are one of a kind!!!! Appreciate your pulling for them! That is fantastic!

Got a new DVD to do our 2 mile walk. It is a good one, I was working up a sweat.

Jack has done more with his Kindle than I have. I will get around to it. He did download the complete works of Mark Twain for 99 cents or $1.99 and and another book for free. There are a lot of books for free or close to it. Best sellers go for about half price. You can change the size of the text and you can read it in sun light.

Forgot to tell you that I have school tonight! 5-10 pm. Think a panda nap will be in order so I don't fall asleep in class. Jim, I find that panda naps tend to fix all kinds of ailments! Kinda gives you a new lease on life!

OK, back from interview and store. It went well, I think. I like the place a lot! The vet used to work at another nice hospital for years before moving to CA. Then they moved back here about 2 years due to wife's job. He decided to open his own clinic. So it's only been in operation for 1 and a half years but is doing really well. The staff all started with him at the other place and came to work for him in the new place which I think speaks volumes. I am the first and only person so far ever interviewed for a job there! They will be interviewing over the next 2 weeks and will make a decision. One of the receptionists is moving out of state and hers is the position opening.

Daisy had NOT eaten yet...UGH. And this morning I left her to go to the bathroom and when I came back down she had bitten through a strand of lights on the tree. Double UGH! She hasn't done a single bad thing at all, and I am just grateful that the lights were not plugged in.

floralgirl said...

Sounds good, Lynne. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Guess Daisy is a little stressed out. She'll eat when she gets hungry. Just make sure she's drinking water.

grannyblt said...

Lynne2 you just interviewed for my dream job. I hope it works out for you.

Still snowing here in western PA--it has been since Wednesday night. I think we have about 10 inches.

No eagle sightings for me today. I spent 2+ hours in the dentists chair--new crown.
Chicken and dumplings for dinner.

Oh, Shar---glad you got seen and have the meds! I was afraid that it was going to be pneumonia, so you caught it in time! Now get lots of rest, and eat (feed a cold!!) soothing stuff like chicken soup! And stay warm!

Lynne, sounds like you were really impressed with the job. Hope they realize what a smart, experienced person you are and give you the job!!

Oh-oh, Daisy----Strike 1!!! Kidding, of course....maybe she never saw a Christmas tree or lights before! TG they weren't on!!!
And the first nibble will surely lead to a full meal!

Cleaning is done. Some laundry finished. Just ate and feel a panda nap coming on....y-a-w-n!

Had a near catastrophe today. Fan under floor vent over woodstove room died. Bill came to replace it (I keep a spare on hand!) and almost fell off the stool when the fence-post staple he was pulling out of the joist gave way. I grabbed his belt which maybe helped. Hit his head on a joist and scraped off some skin, and his hand smashed into AC vent hose (don't think it did any damage), but at least he didn't do a head-dive to the floor!!

hedgie said...

Cute avatar, Diann!!
Good to see Lynne1 drop in to visit. Can you imagine having snow every day for so many days?? Ugh! So sorry, grannyblt!

Well, I'll be back after school. So glad you got some good meds, Sharon! That's good. Later, alligators! :o]

Diego has claimed his mother's Garden spot as his favorite for sleeping. I would still like to see him going up the log to get to it.

Mema Jo said...

Lolly - your pregame dinner sounds like a winner to me. I have a purple frog but not the species your team has.

I am off to watch TV

Bye, Ceil......well if that crazy garland went from CA to Finland, it is really sailing fast!! Too bad it missed Oregon!
Andy, if YOU get snow, we will know there's no such thing as global warming, right?? Hope you fall back into the school routine easily after your nice long break!
Wanda----no bandages, but hugs and kisses for sure!!!
Yep, Lolly---GO FROGS!!!! Even tho' I still don't understand why they call a horned-toad a FROG!!!!!

hedgie said...

Will tell a little tale on me: when I went to TX with a classmate one summer during college, I "smuggled" a horned-toad home on the plane!! He lived for several years!! But can't for the life of me remember what I named him.

Lolly said...

Bald eagle flying at game!

Oh, wow! They just showed him on the handlers hand. He had his wings spread!

Lolly said...

This is a good omen! Pregame show has been good!

Mema Jo said...

The deer on ESPN (which has run off) had a broken left front leg. Kept waiting to see some weight being put on it but when it ran off it was going good on just 3 legs.

Good evening, everyone.

Lynne, I do hope the vet has the good sense to select you. What an asset you will be. Also, at least Daisy chose a non-electrified tree and I think a little bit of food is just the beginning of feeling comfortable.

Andy, hope school was good tonight. Let us know about the teacher and workload.

Thanks, Loretta.

Wanda, thanks for reminding me it was Glo and Savannah. Had a halfsheimer's moment.

Lynn, glad Bill was not seriously injured -- only just enough to get some TLC.

Sharon, glad you saw a doctor and no have meds to get that mess cleared out. Stay in, stay warm, and chicken soup for the soul!

Well, good night everyone. Turning my light off but leaving the night light on for others coming in.

Hi Jo!

Lolly said...

TCU has played in many bowls and have played the last few years in bowls, but this is the first BCS bowl. They were Natl champs in the 30's.

Mema Jo said...

Good Night Judie!

hedgie said...

Judie....hope I caught you before you go----how are you feeling??? Better, I hope! When do classes start again for you? Hope you have a little more of a break! Sleep tight!

hedgie said...

What's a BCS bowl, Lolly?

stronghunter said...

Good night Judie!

I am about ready to go to bed myself. Very tired.

We had a German shepherd once that bit an electric cord, and, when she got shocked, she barked at the cord and bit it again before we could stop her. In her puppyhood, she bit and chewed many things-- every pair of leather gloves I owned and their replacements, the control to the water heater, the stair rail for the basement steps, etc., etc. She actually drained the water heater and turned it off before demolishing the control thingy. She also felled several small trees with her teeth. She would just walk by a tree and snap it in two.

Come on you Frogs - Get Hoppin'

stronghunter said...

Okay, I do have a teacher story.

I had a student who told me today that it was not fair for me to deduct points for mistakes on her research paper just because I know more than she does.

Mema Jo said...

Whoa Shirley! Did you ask her what she thought you were being paid to do?

I hope you didn't laugh out loud in front of her!!! lol

T-Bird said...

Hey folks. I hope everyone has had a good day.

Mema Jo said...

So far so good, Thelma. What about your day. Are you feeling better
or do you need a visit to ER......?

T-Bird said...

No Mema Jo, not me. I'm feeling better. My first real day back to work.

T-Bird said...

Thanks Mema Jo for the BCS standing site. WV number 16 isn't bad.

stronghunter said...

Jo, I told her that I want her to come see me tomorrow for a private conversation.

stronghunter said...

I think we need to discuss the mistakes that cost her points. She got an A-. I wasn't that hard on her.

Mema Jo said...

Shirley I admire your professionalism
in handling your students. Great!

T-Bird I am glad you have mended - you probably had that stomach virus.

stronghunter said...

You are kind, Jo.

Sharon, I do hope you are going to be much better very soon.

Lolly, hope your team is successful.

PA Nana said...

Good evening everyone. Hope your day has been good.

With all the snow "men" I had to find something for my new winter avatar. There is free clipart online so I copied a couple for the winter and this struck me funny.

Yes, Jo, I think that is a "pot" on her head. But she also has a mop in her hand - not so funny.

... later

PA Nana said...

Shirley you are very diplomatic with your students and I hope they appreciate it.

Thelma, so glad you're feeling better. Now Sharon must get better too.

Mema Jo said...

Diann - I love the snowlady!

Dianne Cooper commented on Deb Palmer's wall post:

"Thanks to all of you. Amanda and I are going to Vermillion on the 14th to the 18th. We are flying in late Thursday and will have all day Fri, Sat, Sun to get things packed up. I am currently busy watching BSU again TCU. I know one of you is a horned frog but I and my family are Broncos. It has been a fun game so far. Dianne"
