I am going to attempt to get to a wedding at 4 p.m. Andrew is the best man and Kelsey is a bridesmaid. Got to see my baby boy in a tux. Plus, it is one of his dear friends getting married and I really want to witness that. He calls me "Momma" so I have to be there! But, I will not risk my life to get there. Andrew has not stayed in through this storm yet. He has a friend who has been driving them around in his Jeep so please pray that these 20-year-old know-it-alls stay safe! Can't tell these kids anything!

Good Morning!
Slept like a log last night! Comfy bed! Got to go get ready for a 'golf cart tour' of the place. If we agree to do some word-of-mouth advertising, we get 2 tickets to a live theater presentation of 'A Christmas Carol'! They're free, but usually cost $100. Should be fun!
Margy, glad you got home OK! Hope you have some time off now.
Glad there were no serious calls last night.

Very pretty out your way, Lynn. Love the bench pic. Your deck is pretty good size!

stronghunter said...

Hi folks!

Sitting here watching it snow and listening to wind whistle. It is really blowing around and drifting.

I did not get out to fill the feeder, but there's suet out there and some thistle seeds in the thistle feeder. Have been opening the door and throwing out a handful of seeds from time to time. I think that it's juncos out there. I think other birds are still hiding.

One squirrel came leaping through the snow.

Glad to see Margy got safely home.

Margy, so glad you are home! Only a 180, huh? Golly, nothing exciting? Yikes!

Just checking on all of you. Going to go mix up dough to rise and then heading out to mow.

I saw 12" of snow my soph year in college. Have seen 6" once or twice since then. Have not seen the ground really covered in several years. Please send some snow my way! You seem to have it to spare. Love you all, stay warm.

Paula, love that you are throwing snowballs for your dogs. Laurel's Bosco, would love that as well.

stronghunter said...

Beautiful tree, Lynn. I will post mine later.

stronghunter said...

Hi Jim, yes, they say this will still be with us on Christmas day.

Shutting down above ground Metro service in DC.

Snowing really hard here. I do not know how much is on the ground, but would guess a foot or more.

Reminds me of the great blizzard in Ohio; that was in '77 or '78. I think it was 1978. That was worse than this one, but this is bad enough. We were housebound for 3 days. The street was cleaned with a frontloader and we made an exciting family trip to the grocery store. The whole town was there, and they were rationing milk.

George is at his window. Ever hopeful he can catch one of those birds.

normabyrd said...

We have 18 -- 19 inches now & still coming down---LAURA was out with her dog & measured!!---Pray it doesn't break any limbs on the trees!! ---

stronghunter said...

Ohio Blizzard of 1978

I remember well the covered 18-wheeler. We were not too far from where that happened. They found the driver eventually. He was okay. I think his brother went out looking for him.

stronghunter said...

Radio reports were mostly people trying to contact one another. Channel 6 television was broadcasting from a building under the antenna, not the studio.

Mits said...

The Maryland National Guard is being activated because of Saturday's snowstorm,
and Gov. Martin O'Malley has declared a state of emergency for the entire
state.

stronghunter said...

Prayers for everybody in this storm. Stay safe out there.

hedgie said...

Lolly, that's cruel to talk about mowing!!
Got front half of deck done...and that's all it's going to be! Still need to do the 3 steps and the bricks at the bottom of them, but glasses got so fogged, had to come in.

paula eagleholic said...

Heading outside for awhile....have on 3 pairs of socks, long johns, pants, turtleneck, sweater, coat, hood, gloves, headband!

stronghunter said...

Going to have some hot chocolate.

ceil said...

Lynn great pics.
Paula love your dogs.
Jim made rolls Going to get a salad and roll for lunch.

hedgie said...

I remember a storm in '58 or '59 when we didn't have school for 2 weeks. Think we had 36" and power was out for a week----that was in the DC suburbs!

Mema Jo said...

Gosh! Paula - don't forget your
snow boots!

ceil said...

Paula can you move?
Just did the front. Luckily we do not have much. My friend Melvin was doing his mother's and came to help me. Jim did not know I was out.

stronghunter said...

Will has ventured out, so I had him fill the feeder. I haven't seen too many varieties of birds. I think they are still hunkered down.

stronghunter said...

Big flakes coming down hard.

stronghunter said...

Let's hope Paula just assumed we'd know she has on boots.

Costume Lady said...

We have enjoyed the birds flocking to our feeders. They are such a joy to watch:) I have posted a few of them on "JUST FOR FUN".

Mits said...

sunny day at Maine nest.

Mema Jo said...

Different moose on the cam now.

Mits said...

just another nasty Nor'easter at the beaches.

stronghunter said...

Would be nice to be able to send you some snow, Lolly.

Costume Lady said...

Dana, the snow plow was a STATE vehicle and they DON'T PLOW ANYTHING but the road. One year, Gene and I were shoveling out our driveway and felt like we just couldn't go on and the STATE plow came by, stopped a moment and looked at us and kept on going. About 10 minutes later, a Farmer came by with a plow on his tractor and plowed us from one end to the other and didn't want anything for his kindness. Gene bought him a bunch of steaks and gave them to him later. He said he would plow our driveway ANYTIME! LOL
Gene started my car and it plowed right on through this 14" without any hesitation. I love my car:)

MARGY, you are a dear for offering to help GG if necessary! Love You!
We talked to her last night and told her to turn her fireplace up if the electricity went out and remember that she could cook on her gas stove. Neither one needs electricity to work. She didn't want to come home with us, wanted to sleep in her cozy, warm bed. NO PLACE LIKE HOME:)

hedgie said...

13" now----geesh! Ridiculous!

Mema Jo said...

Decorah nest has snow and some new
limbs and grasses on top of it.

Mema Jo said...

Our snow is NOT going to stop anyways soon. Flakes are large and almost looks like a white out.

Taking an afternoon nap.......

stronghunter said...

Enjoy your nap, Jo.

paula eagleholic said...

Well that was a blast!

Took the dogs out back...the snow is too powdery for snow balls, so they found a couple of tennis balls under the snow. Nugz would shove his head into the snow to look for the ball after I threw it. Then they were running through the snow, leaping like deer.

Got some of my deck shoveled, refilled 3 feeders, and got half the driveway done. Dogs wanted in, so now it's breaktime.

Hope everyone else is enjoying the day!

normabyrd said...

MEMA JO!--Our SNOW FLAKES are larger & they are REALLY coming down!!!---

paula eagleholic said...

I measured 17" here.
