straysrus, I thought from the long show Hidey put on earlier that she was plumb tuckered out - looked like s/he was dead there for a while. Finally we saw her head and then a wing move.
Wanda, hope my hair turns out OK, I'll live with it, girl seemed like she knew what she was talking about, it seems to grow so fast now that I'm older.
Ceil, I did take some time away today, so am a little behind my schedule right now, but am headed to the bathroom again to clean out the drawers and areas under the sink. really foggy here again tonight.
Deep and steady breathing, Margy!! Robins are doing well...they also let their mama know when they want food, but their chirps are soft...just persistent!
Ok, I will give you all something more to laugh at...you wouldn't believe the PJ'S I was wearing this morning, if I told you. So, I will show you. They were very suitable for someone toteing a gun. Look on Just for Fun:)
This National Spelling Bee is outrageous....So far, out of 21 words, there are only 5 that I know....and I'm supposed to be well-versed in English and spelling! They claim all the words come from Websters, but give me a break...they sure aren't used in everyday English!
I just know that tonight as I try to go to sleep - I will have the vision of the Safari PJ's & elephant gun and I am going to bust out laughing. I think I best warn Hubby now!
Sorry, Paula...Safari hat was your idea. Gene may like my outfit or will laugh hysterically. Do you all remember the Leopard hat that I gave Jill a year or so ago? That will be perfect for my "dress up".
I like my gun, Lynn. I'm more comfortable with it than a rifle or elephant gun:)
BOB, we need you NATURAL FUNNINESS on here more often. I think we have all had some good laughs tonight...at my expense, I might add. (I'm actually laughing with you)
EJ and Odin, at Loch Garten, Scotland just had their third hatch a day or so ago. Here is a post from their blog with some distressing news about Odin (the male) having some fishing line tangled up in his left foot. I am not sure the link will come through but going to give it a try: Loch Garten Scotland
Oh, how awful to read that, Margy....they need to get a ladder truck up there and grab hold of that line when he flies off----reel him him, and then remove it!
I don't think so Wanda.... Deb or someone else on here might have a thought on that. Just, wait and see...and hope... Very tough to read of this. Chrissy sent me an alert on it, you can imagine how she feels about it....
That is very true and didnt think of that. Thanks for the help and I hope it doesnt get to our eaglet. Ive noticed that she doesnt sleep muvh at night but hangs on the side of the nest.
Just stopping in to say I heard from Goldilocks and she said she got a very special card signed by the eaglet momsters last Saturday. She said thank you very much.
Wanda, I sure like this pistol much better than I did a .25 Ruger that I had, but wish I had a .22 rifle, and I wouldn't mind a .38 Special like what I learned to shoot with when I worked for campus security in college.
All jobs for today accomplished! And I'm tired. Tomorrow is shopping day for gd's birthdays (5/31 and 6/3)--Pizza Hut party Sunday! And I need to get some groceries. My spare pair of glasses is ready which means going "downtown".
It is just a matter of being a responsible fisherman. Most of the line that is a danger to animals can easily be cleaned up. Not just by fishermen, although they should do their part. Whenever we are out, we take any line down that we can get to. In fact the other day, we talk about how it might be easier to get some of it, if we had a clipper or scissors along.
Education is a key part, many people don't know the danger the line poses and when they do, most clean it up!
Nite Sharon The egg well is the last place where I saw Hidey. I just wish he would move a little or open a glowing eye so we could be sure. Let's just assume it is Hidey in that egg well! I sure don't see any feetsies up on the edges.
I saw a post in our local newspaper on the Internet section where they have photographer's galleries. There were some pictures in there entitled "Berkeley County Ospreys." (that is the county for Martinsburg, Hedgesville, Inwood, Falling Waters...etc) - will be trying to track down the rest of the story.
Thanks for the information, Deb...., would make such a difference if people would be on the alert for those kinds of things, like the plasty thingies that soda bottles and cans are attached with.
Good night to all of you. Thank you again for all the cards, e-mails and support you have given me. It means so much to me to have found this blog and all of you.
Margy, been searching Journal website and CU photos and don't come up with anything aobut osprey......can you give me a clue as to where you saw them???
Well, I missed all the hilarity tonight! What a riot! Gun toting, PJ wearing, eagle loving Mommas!!!!
I am having a covered dish brunch Saturday for two friends celebrating zero birthdays. I baked a cake and after supper I spent the evening decorating the cake. Slow but sure! Then after cleaning up it took forever for me to read the blog.

Good morning all. I didn't see Hidey this morning and my heart skipped a few beats, but eventually I heard her and then saw her beak! She is really branching like crazy because she seems in a higher spot on the tree. I saw Magpie wrote that Hidey is "hovering" a lot. What does that mean?

What they usually end up with at that point though is the droppings on the ground or cleaning the branch. But they do hang together for quite some time. Lib and Belle are awesome parents I am sure their young continue to learn lots from them as they venture out til they actually leave on their own.

Thank you so much for all that information Glo! I really appreciate it. I've learned so much about eagles from all of you, and I am so thrilled to hear that mom and dad will continue to teach Hidey. I was worried he/she would be out on his/her own as soon as she left the nest.
Hello Lori. I'm Laynie. From NJ.
I work during the day so if someone says something to me and I don't respond right away it is because I haven't seen it yet. :)
GLO!---Thanks for the nice 'EAGLE THOUGHTS'----Remember---sometime they keep checking in the nest for sleep!---I hope our 'LITTLE JEWEL' remembers she is always welcome!!
Good morning all. Stopping in to say Happy Birthday Lori. Have a great birthday. Everyone else have a great day. Margy hope you don't mind I will remind all to wear red it is Friday.
Does anyone know just exactly where Hidey is? Maybe branching? I have a feeling that when Hidey does leave the nest, that he will come back often and probably spend the nights there...he's a HOMEBODY:) Knows a good thing when he sees it!
Hi, Ceil. Wasn't it sweet of Margy to send you the seal? If she won the Lottery, she would give it all away:):) She is a very giving person. Gotta love her!
well Lori if you had stock in Kleenex in 2006 you would be rich...yep those who watch are tearing up just thinking about it too. I do think the first time is exceptionally emotional.
MORNIN' DEB---from SD---home of the WINNER from WINNER!!---Poor soul!!---we had a millionaire in WV win the JACKPOT!!---Literally ruined his LIFE---his FAMILY---DIVORCED---only GRAND-DAUGHTER died---He was robbed a few times, etc---
GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE! HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LORI!!! Hope it's the best one ever! God Bless! ...Hey, Hidey just about gave me heart failure not too long ago-- thought the rascal was outta here for a minute! (My blood pressure can't take this-- Dr. upped my meds for that yesterday!) Caught the food drop-- our baby sure knows how to guard the food! "Mine, all MINE!" BTW, is it supposed to rain more back there? Thought they mentioned something about it on the early am news. Hope you get some sunshine instead!
DEB!---It's sad when all these little ones leave their nests--- wonderful that we get to enjoy them when they are hatched/born!! ---Then we stand back like proud parents---watch them go!!----WHAT JOY!
With my revised school schedule, didn't have a class last night-- but DID have 13 chapters to read!! Will try to get caught up on the blog; will be back & forth for a while. Looks like Hidey's making short work of the food Lib brought-- good going, Hidey! Waste not, want not! BBIALW... :o]
Does anyone have a fairly close up picture of the tree with mom and dad sitting on the branch? When I first came here someone had a nice close up of that. I want to show my brother.

SPLIT...
I didn't even see that SPLIT coming!
I'm not used to pop up either Magpie. I'm signing off for now. Don't let the bed bugs bite friends.
Hello Mits!
I like that moniker "Straysrus" -
Welcome to the NCTC Cam Daily! and the NCTC nest in wild, wonderful Shepherdstown West Virginia !
You could be right about why Hidey plopped out, Straysrus, exercise and a meal could wear him out!
LOL, Margy...I'm not, but I'll have to get at it shortly...I've been thoroughly enjoying watching our eaglet this evening!
yes, when i looked in and saw so many posts, than looked at Hidey, thought something had happened...
'Night T-Bird....I have plenty of Parfum du Bug Repellent for those bed bugs ! Rest well, see you tomorrow ! ♥
I did the same thing, Helen, then saw a wing flop!
Wanda, hope my hair turns out OK, I'll live with it, girl seemed like she knew what she was talking about, it seems to grow so fast now that I'm older.
Would be great if Hidey stayed down in the egg well for the night.
Not sure if the rain and wind is going to continue
Thank you Helen, for the prayer, just caught it from before the Split.
Wow, Hidey's tail resembles a rudder!
Ceil, I did take some time away today, so am a little behind my schedule right now, but am headed to the bathroom again to clean out the drawers and areas under the sink. really foggy here again tonight.
Mason Update
Mason's dad's words brought some tears to my eyes in his last paragraph!
Prayers for them all!
wow, what that family has been through.
Oh, Bob....roflmbo!!! That was good!
I felt the same sentiment, Jo, thank God it has brought them together and not torn them apart

Ok, I will give you all something more to laugh at...you wouldn't believe the PJ'S I was wearing this morning, if I told you. So, I will show you. They were very suitable for someone toteing a gun. Look on Just for Fun:)
Wanda - With those PJ's you should have been packing an elephant gun.
I get it now...Strays-r-us
Looks like some raindrops
ROFLMBO, BOB, you must have taken a funny pill today!

Oh Great Hunter!
You blend right in with the RV decor!
This is such a delightful blog to be a part of! You guys are great!
I just know that tonight as I try to go to sleep - I will have the vision of the Safari PJ's & elephant gun and I am going to bust out laughing.
I think I best warn Hubby now!
.... on the other hand, Wanda could have been mistaken for a wild animal and gotten herself shot with a tranquilizer dart.
My goodness, Jo, you have given me an idea...when Gene comes home, I will wear my WILD PJ'S and a Safari hat. WAHOO!;)
My gun is now on Just for Fun.
BOB, did you have a G & T to drink tonight?;)
Sure glad I learned what LOL means, because I have been doing a
WHOLE BUNCH OF THAT TONIGHT !
Just plain old side-splitting.
Beautiful testimonial from Bryan to Sylvia in the latest Mason Update...Nice way to end out the day, with those kinds of thoughts.
Spidey must not like the weather.
I still can spot Hidey at 3:00
AMEN to our weather report!
Going to take a break - I think it is safe to do so now that darkness has come to the nest!
BBILW
HAHAHAHAHA
That one I really busted out laughing!
Okay Hedgie, breathe slowly, in and out, and repeat OM or some mantra like that, over and over again? THEN call 911 !
Sorry, Paula...Safari hat was your idea. Gene may like my outfit or will laugh hysterically. Do you all remember the Leopard hat that I gave Jill a year or so ago? That will be perfect for my "dress up".
Wanda - G&T would be tasty right about now but no, I'm just naturally funny.
Hidey is now in the upper left corner...just heard thunder!
Wanda, your gun looks just like mine, except that mine has the mother-of-pearl look grip!
You are all on a roll tonight! Wanda, that outfit sounds perfect!
I like my gun, Lynn. I'm more comfortable with it than a rifle or elephant gun:)
BOB, we need you NATURAL FUNNINESS on here more often. I think we have all had some good laughs tonight...at my expense, I might add. (I'm actually laughing with you)

Hey, Indiana Dave, wherever you are...one of these kids in the Spelling Bee is from Terre Haute!
Bob is a hoot!! lol
How many spidey's are on this cam tonight?
Is it another bird that is the white object I see coming in and out of the upper left hand corner of the screen?
No YveBart that is our spidey.
Margy, that is a troubling situation with the fishing line and the eagles. I guess there is nothing they can do:(
I don't know how many, Dana, and yes YveBart, that is a spider. Making an early appearance.
:(
Gee, glad Hedgie cannot get live feed up tonight.
TTFN - time to play catch up for awhile.
Wait .... A spider? Really? The thing is HUGE looking.
That spider is going to be huge if he lowers himself while so close to the cam
The closer to the cam, the bigger everyting looks YveBart, including and especially Hidey and the adult eagles ! Really it is probably not so big.
He has weaved some awesome webs some nights, seemingly across the whole view of the cam.
Okay, back later....
Now Hidey is down in the nest in the egg well area.....
Wanda, I sure like this pistol much better than I did a .25 Ruger that I had, but wish I had a .22 rifle, and I wouldn't mind a .38 Special like what I learned to shoot with when I worked for campus security in college.
Just a reminder to Mary Marg that we were thinking of her getting all healed! Sure did miss all 3 of the "sisters"
Wanda so funny. Loved your pj's. When does Gene come home?
All jobs for today accomplished! And I'm tired. Tomorrow is shopping day for gd's birthdays (5/31 and 6/3)--Pizza Hut party Sunday! And I need to get some groceries. My spare pair of glasses is ready which means going "downtown".

I, also, got a very nice card in today's mail! Thank you everyone for thinking of me, too>
We were missing you too, Deb!
Just wanted you to know we are here for you, Buddy!
Such a shame Hope all turns out well. Pleasant dreams all.
I just have to tell you that I have never met a group of more loving, caring, thoughtful people in my life than you all on here. I am so grateful!
Going to bed now folks. Good night and sweet eagle dreams, my friends of fine feathers and fur!
I Hidey laying down in the nest or is that a figment of my imagination?
..don't think I was in the Eagle Express long enough to attach my greetings to those two cards....
Smiles and Hugs across the Miles though !
Nite Sharon
The egg well is the last place where I saw Hidey. I just wish he would move a little or open a glowing eye so we could be sure. Let's just assume it is Hidey in that egg well! I sure don't see any feetsies up on the edges.
Yeah, that is her, she just moved for me!
I saw a post in our local newspaper on the Internet section where they have photographer's galleries. There were some pictures in there entitled "Berkeley County Ospreys."
(that is the county for Martinsburg, Hedgesville, Inwood, Falling Waters...etc) - will be trying to track down the rest of the story.
Thanks for the information, Deb...., would make such a difference if people would be on the alert for those kinds of things, like the plasty thingies that soda bottles and cans are attached with.
Amen to that expression and Good Night Sharon
Nite, Sharon.
Me either Margy...but I am certainly thinking of them!
Thundering pretty good here....may be a storm coming...
Deb, I always have a pair of scissors in my pocketbook....just never know when they can come in handy.
Goodnight to all turning in...pleasant dreams!
Better slide this one in:
Good Night to all heading for the Feather Pillows or already there Hope your sleep is sweet, and your dreams even sweeter.
Prayers for wellness, comfort, strength and peace...
xo ☺ ♥
(I'm not exactly going to bed yet, still playing catch up, might be back on here and there..)
I have clippers in my purse, but not in the Kayak! I will have to put something in my dry sack for future use.
Get the word out on the line. Once people realize that leaving it harms birds and animals, they really help to clean it up!
I am going to say
Good Night TO All
Prayers for our needs and prayers for our blessings being said...
Peaceful sleep for all
((hugs)) ♥
Right behind you Jo!
Hugs to all ♥
I'm outta here too...good night everyone:)
Good night to all of you. Thank you again for all the cards, e-mails and support you have given me. It means so much to me to have found this blog and all of you.
Margy, been searching Journal website and CU photos and don't come up with anything aobut osprey......can you give me a clue as to where you saw them???
And you mean a lot to us, Deb! We love you!! We share your sadness, just as we share your joy when you have a good outing.
Goodnight Deb, Paula, Mits, Jo...and everyone! I'm going, too. Talk to you in the morning light. Peace and prayers.
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE

PRAYERS FOR ALL...SOME SPECIAL ONES FOR THOSE IN NEED
Emailed the info to you Lynn...
Good Night Those Before and After this post !
Oh, Hidey has changed positions....
smack dab in the middle of the nest now, guess I will bring live cam up again
Well, I missed all the hilarity tonight! What a riot! Gun toting, PJ wearing, eagle loving Mommas!!!!
I am having a covered dish brunch Saturday for two friends celebrating zero birthdays. I baked a cake and after supper I spent the evening decorating the cake. Slow but sure! Then after cleaning up it took forever for me to read the blog.
So, now that everyone has gone to bed, I will say Good Night! Sweet Dreams!
Hidey seems restless tonight, is now perched on the nest at 3 pm
Hey ! It's tomorrow, I mean it's today, well, it's Friday,
May 29... !!!
Happy Birthday Lori Eaglicious! Hope it is your Best One Ever !! ☺ ♥
Your first Momster Birthday!
I thought I would be reporting "no Hidey visible in the nest" again tonight...really couldn't see him anywhere.
But then one of the Spirit Eagles standing on the edge at about 2:30 o'clock began to stretch and preen itself. Hahaha.
When he isn't moving he becomes just another ghostly shape on the edge of the picture.

Good Night, Jim... one of these nights, Hidey really will NOT be in the nest at night :(
Good night, Magpie.

Hidey is already up and at em this morning!
Zebras and wildebeest on Pete's pond. I am going to have to look into that place more, learn more amount the animals and history of the cam. It is really a fascinating site!
Looks like Hidey is on the launch pad! She really wants out of that nest!
She is wingercizing this morning, flying all around the nest. Be still my heart!!
Oh wow! I thought she was gone that time!!!
Good morning everyone one. Is today the day?
Don't know Glo. Hidey was doing that head bobbing back and forth thing this morning.
sure has herself tucked up in the corner LOL Saw that poop shoot a few mins ago when I first turned ont he cam and decided to stick around for a bit.
If someone is jsut turning on the cam about now they would think she was gone.
I hope not Glo - I'd love for Hidey to stay here and just grow up in this nest, bring all his girlfriends by for us to check out and approve, etc! :)
He/she can stay forever. Good thing I never had kids!
Hello Sharon!
She is kind enough to give us a glimpse of that beak every now and then LOL
Good morning all. I didn't see Hidey this morning and my heart skipped a few beats, but eventually I heard her and then saw her beak! She is really branching like crazy because she seems in a higher spot on the tree. I saw Magpie wrote that Hidey is "hovering" a lot. What does that mean?

HOVERING is when Hidey is up off the nest for 5 or more seconds.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR LORI,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!
AND MANY, MANY, MANY MORE!!
Oh... Ok Glo. I see. Thanks!! Yes, I have seen Hidey do that over the past several days as well.
Do Eaglets tend to have a preference when they take their first flight... night vs day?
Hidey is gracious enough to let us know she is still there, Glo, you are right! Good to see you on here this morning!
Yep, you'r right Glo, I hear or saw nothing and thought for sure Hidey left home without saying GOODBYE!
Of the 6 fledges I have seen, 5 were in the morning and one in the afternoon. All fledges have been from the 4-5 o'clock position, what we have lovingly called the "launch pad!"

I feel nervous like she'll be gone any minute. I know it's a wonderful thing for her, but I can't imagine not seeing her everyday.
OMG, OMG, she is killing me!
I swear it is looking like time but maybe not!
heart is so pounding
Oh wow. My heart is so racing.
Hi, Ceil. Wasn't it sweet of Margy to send you the seal? If she won the Lottery, she would give it all away:):) She is a very giving person. Gotta love her!
Right Glo, I am with ya!
Ghost of Christmas past for sure!
She is killing me here!
Thank you Ceil - that's very nice of you.
I sure hope Hidey does come back a lot. I can cry just thinking about it! :(
Is everyone like this with their first eaglet? Plus he's the only child.
Bless her heart
There he is!
Yes, we are all like this for the first fledge and second fledge and third fledge . . .
well Lori if you had stock in Kleenex in 2006 you would be rich...yep those who watch are tearing up just thinking about it too. I do think the first time is exceptionally emotional.
He /she's been a flapping fool lately - - and it seems more so every day.
Now I have a fledge anticipation headache.
MORNIN' CEIL!---It's a beautiful day at the EAGLE NEST this am!!--ho!
She hasn't lightened the load yet so we may still be alright.
well Dex and I are off for coffee and dog treats. Keep those wings uplifted in prayer.
thanks for sharing your stories with me. It helps knowing you're not the only one who will be sad.
With just one eaglet, she's been our entire focus. I'm hoping next year there will be two (three is too much for Lib and Belle). :)
YEP SHARON!!---I can't figure out if the WING FLAPPING is for real --or she is just BORED!---ho!
Lori, they actually do really well with 3 eaglets. We had 2 seasons of 3 eaglets, this is our first with just one.
Well, Lib just caught Hidey unaware1
Good morning, everyone!
Happy Birthday, Lori.
Kind of mantling now but not sure there is anything to mantle.
Was that Lib bringing breakfast?
Hi Deb, thank you.
How ya doing? Anything I can do for you from Maryland?
Nope, no food!
LORI---'BELLE & LIB'--can handle 3---with 1 hand!---ho!---They just spend more time feeding!!
What was that lay down and rock thing he did?
I think Lib brought a little Hor'dourve. Hidey pretending like he doesn't care.
I am so grateful she has calmed down a little bit. My heart could not have taken much more! :)
MORNIN' DEB---from SD---home of the WINNER from WINNER!!---Poor soul!!---we had a millionaire in WV win the JACKPOT!!---Literally ruined his LIFE---his FAMILY---DIVORCED---only GRAND-DAUGHTER died---He was robbed a few times, etc---
Did anybody else just lose their cam? Nothing, just came back.
The KESTRELS are so adorable this am---growing like weeds---love their eyes!!
I am doing good, thanks, Lori.
It is going to be a beautiful day here, and the weekend looks good for painting the trim. I have to get it done, should have done it last year.
SHARON---I see your Sheriff is making headlines!!---He is also and MD---hardy to believe that he would rather be Sheriff than be a MD!
Norma, I watched one Kestrel make it almost all the way up to the box opening yesterday, won't be long now.
The NORFOLK 'REBELS' are doing a wee bit of WING FLAPPING this am!-----One one seems to stand by himself---like our little one did!!
BBIALW... :o]
STEVE HAS GIVEN US A NEW THREAD...COME JOIN ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
look at him!
Does anyone have a fairly close up picture of the tree with mom and dad sitting on the branch? When I first came here someone had a nice close up of that. I want to show my brother.
What a marvel of God's creation! Thanks to all who make seeing it possible.
