I am south of Erie about half way between Erie and Pittsburgh (Grove City)The Pine Siskins have emptied my feeder and are looking for leavings on the ground.
Hope my truck starts for the Dr. visit. It was -8 an hour or so ago.
Yes, I never really got much sleep. Slept quite a bit more than usual yesterday for some reason, and I guess that's why.
It's still dark here, but I have my Internet and my stereo listening to Chuck Cecil and "The Swinging Years." Seems to be featuring Sinatra and Tommy Dorsey right now.... Beautiful stuff.
Good Frosty Saturday! Eagle at BWE. We have icy flakes coming down in the sun!!!The River channel is frozen--rarely happens & have that strange cracking ice sound. One cluster of Can. geese sitting in Jug Bay. As I drove down to unlock the other boat ramp, several deer were in the roadside trees & just looked at me as if to say "Good Morning"! No visible eagle in the nest.
Okay grannyblt, thanks! Best wishes on your medical things today, I had to fast a few days ago and boy was I hungry! Then I could only eat "soft things" for a couple of days!
Jim When I cannot sleep is when I find some of the most fun stuff on the overseas cams! And can always back up and open up links from the Blog and check Glo's new pics when they come on.
NATURENUT Sounds, great, but Very Wintry there! Is the ice groaning? I had thought when I first heard it yesterday evening, that it was a large bird stuck and he was trying to unloose himself!
Take a peek at San Diego. It's still dark, but Bai is exercising .. walking the perimeter of the enclosure ... and ZZ is cutely charging along behind her.
I think ZZ must be getting old enough she'll be weaned pretty soon.
Magpie, no snow buntngs at the feeders, I saw them in the next county in a flock of 150 plus . They all were flying away, landing, fly ,land etc. If they hadn't stopped momentarily in the road in front of us it would have been hard to ID them.
I have never seen the snow buntings nor the siskins, grannyblt, but would really like to get up to where my friend is. How about those cranes you mentioned?
Missed the eagle visit...was on phone w/ Michael. He is having a great time in Jamaica and loving every minute of it. He has a free day today, they are going shopping and swimming at the beach. It has been 80° there all week!
Something interesting (or not) that he ate this week. Fish eye soup! He said they had the consistency of chick peas!

Time for me to get the day going... Roundhouse Museum in Hagerstown with the grandson to see the model train layouts, including the Christmas trains which are out until March 1.
From reading on the snowman cam. In about 1/2 hr or less. Some people should be showing up. They will be holding some kinds of signs they have made. From what it says on the chat there. I think it is people that know them in the chat.

It was just too darn cold to pump my own today in my hungry caffine deprived condition. Am I spoiled or what?? BWE sure has a lot of feather fluff...wonder what it was?
Hope Grannyblt gets some good food now. Retired Park Commission man is having his annual family B'Day Party in our meeting room here at Vis. Ctr. We were invited for lunch! Yum, yum!! Got a simple dessert recipe from him a few yrs. ago--Cherry Flop! Line lge pan w/graham crackers, add mixture of instant pudding & Cool Whip & top w/Can (or 2) of cherry pie filling!! Wonderful day in the neighborhood! ☺ ☺
Hi, T-Bird. Have had several visits at BWE, because there was a good meal! Haven't seen anyone in our nest, but am at work so can't watch all the time. Bluebirds reappeared & I was able to get a pic! Hooray. Now if I can see eagle on way out, will be the icing on the cake!
Good afternoon, gang! Rough morning here...-5° and no power...that was at 8am....luckily it came back on around 10....what a rough way to start the day. Got the fire built up but gas stove was running with out the fan and smoke alarm kept going off--finally had to take out the battery! Been lurking while working on organizing pictures and getting some ebay stuff going. Looks liek there's been a bit of housekeeping done in nest....at least those two "logs" are no longer in the middle!!
I be darn! Birds in and Jo was out!!! T-Bird you must have hit #500! Sorry I missed them but soooooo happy you all saw them! Thanks for trying to rouse me up, Mits! I'm having a cup of coffee before leaving for mass.
Jo, the PB in question is a commercial product used in schools, bakeries, etc. They had said regular on-the-shelf products were not affected, but then turned around and said not to eat Keebler and Austin crackers/cookies w/ PB. Go figure! I was so bummed a couple of years ago when Peter Pan was pulled....so glad to have it back!! You know what they say..."Man cannot live by bread alone. He must have peanut butter." I agree wholeheartedly.
I have return home from Mass & a quick meal from Bob Evans - no dessert! They have this Cherry Bread & I use it as dessert as it is so sweet.

Just saw the ending of the Hallmark movie The 5 people you meet in Heaven... I had read that book and I loved the presentation that Hallmark did.
Howdy Eagle ♀ and ♂ Buds. I have not read all the comments since I checked out this morning but will be working my way back. I agree, Mema, T-Bird sure seems to have a way with bringing an Eagle visit around ☺
from the grandson: Great Wolf Lodge Two beds, and a couch that opens up into a bed, a balcony, two televisions, microwave, refrigerator and bathroom. Two pools inside and one inside, two hot tubs, and an arcade.
I'm back now from visiting my brother. Prayers worked. He is feeling much better and was up and about while we were there. He has a large area of hematoma on his arm and leg on the right side but most of the pain has gone. They are giving him coumadin to thin his blood and hopefully that will disolve the clot. He enjoyed out visit. Thanks for all your prayers.
Roundhouse Train Museum in Hagerstown had a wonderful Christmas train layout, so many beautiful trains and little buildings and cars and things. Bought myself a great little coffee mug with the Chessie Logo, pretty little sleeping kitty, on it, for all you Cat Lovers! No, I am not giving it up! ☺
Hedgie, so sorry about the power problems...I have been wondering if Gene and Wanda have the right plans in place for no freezing pipes...know they have someone looking out for things, though...
Red so glad that your brother is doing better. Will keep him in my prayers. Margy this morning you said that the train exhibit stays until March. That is great. Glad when things stay past the holidays. Usually to busy to enjoy. When we were in Chicago Macy's leaves its windows up until the 11th and it even plays Christmas music
Hi Everyone & Good Night to some;>) My eyes were closing after dinner, but I got a 2nd wind & have been working on pictures/ They may get posted by midnight (LOL), so you can check in the morning.
Glad to hear your good news, Red.. Siounds like grandson has the GW lodge memorized, Margy:) Nasty patch of frozen precip passing by right now, wind is really gusting..
Margie. I missed the birds after T-Bird broughjt them in too & there wasn't one in nest when I left Park. I had a beautiful Chessie headscarf, aqua background, that I lost in high school. Always pulled it into sleeve of coat & guess it slid out somewhere.I want another!!! Maybe they have a website. Back to pics.....
Hi Everyone...Got home this evening about suppertime. It had just started to snow as we pulled into the driveway...perfect timing. Good to be home, but really going to miss Florida's 75° & 80° temps! GeeGee did VERY well. Shopped til she dropped and walked the beach and brought home bags of shells.
Bet they do too, Loretta. I had a set of towels once with the logo, think in a weak moment I gave them to a friend before I used them... Shot myself in the foot I guess.
Megan, forgot to mention, I asked James about coffee pot, and he said yes. Funny, bathroom was the last thing he mentioned. And food was not a topic, think he just ate his weight in hot dogs somewhere. ☺
Good Night to those heading for the pillows. I think we are might be finishing a week with No Friday or Saturday... Guess we should be paying Steve to let us come to NCTC, bless his heart, maybe we could help out in some way...
Haven't had time to read all that I have missed, but did see where Mason spoke! Gives me cold chills thinking how his Mom and Dad must have felt. Glad to see Jo has recovered from her BUG and is doing well with her MD.
I can tell you this, Wanda: You will soon discover that you missed a lot of Hanky Panky in a lot of the Eagle nests, and Our Birds are heating things up often ! ☺ We are really becoming voyeurs!
Wow, -2! Makes me want to hibernate.LOL Hey, Margy...I have a lot of catching up to do. Too tired to do it tonight. Yes, I'm sure the lights were out at GeeGee's. She probably crawled into bed the moment we pulled out of her driveway. She is an early to bed lady. 7 o'clock most every night.
Back for a few before I hit the sack! Big buck in the PA woods - Looks like a few more snow flakes are falling. No precipitation here in the valley!
RED - prayers will still continue for your Brother & family - good to hear he was doing better.
Margy - Hagerstown's Round House is a favorite with my 4 yr & 3 yr old. They were brought up with Thomas!! They could stay there all day - so glad you had a good time - I bet you wore your bibs!!
Been watching that Buck in PA, Jo, was a doe there a little while ago... He's a handsome one ! Well, flannel camouflage pants with lots of pockets and room for thermals underneath over-ruled the bibs on this cold day...☺
WELCOME HOME WANDA, GENE AND GEEGEE! You have been missed! Hope the house was warm for you...it's been a couple of bitter days...was -5° here this am @ 8....so probably even worse before dawn! Turning in....seems like it's been a long day. Sweet dreams for all...prayers and blessings.
But you all forgot the fresh, moist bread and the big slather of strawberry jam you got to have ...and the big, ole glass of cold, cold milk.
I've been using the unhomogenized, nutty grind with just salt for years and years now. Usually, we get Laura Scudders around here (it was originally made in San Diego, don't know about now), and it is delicious. But for a while Sam's Club had a giant jar of similar stuff by Best, and I got that since it was a lot cheaper.
I found a way of mixing it so it doesn't slop out on the counter and it doesn't dry out at the bottom of the jar.
I'm in Heaven now, I know it. Where's the milk? I just had some soup and wheat French bread .. for dipping; but you know you can use a juicy peanut butter and jam sandwich for dessert too.

Margy this morning you said that the train exhibit stays until March. That is great. Glad when things stay past the holidays. Usually to busy to enjoy. When we were in Chicago Macy's leaves its windows up until the 11th and it even plays Christmas music
Pix PA is still getting pummeled with snow!
Paula: James really liked his wolf! ☺

Good night everyone.
Hi Everyone & Good Night to some;>)
My eyes were closing after dinner, but I got a 2nd wind & have been working on pictures/ They may get posted by midnight (LOL), so you can check in the morning.
Glad to hear your good news, Red..
Siounds like grandson has the GW lodge memorized, Margy:)
Nasty patch of frozen precip passing by right now, wind is really gusting..
WELCOME HOME WANDA!! Sorry we couldn't warm it up for you-welcome back to winter...
That's fort-making snow at Snowman Cam!
Haven't had time to read all that I have missed, but did see where Mason spoke! Gives me cold chills thinking how his Mom and Dad must have felt.
Glad to see Jo has recovered from her BUG and is doing well with her MD.
Megan, I may have brought these cold temps home with me. Our last night in Florida was 32° and it got colder the farther we went.
Wow, Wanda you slipped through some comments. I drove past GeeGee's house a couple of hours ago and all looked dark...
Welcome Home for Sure!
xox ♥ ☺
Nah, Wanda, these temps have been here for days. This morning it was -2° when I got up.
I can tell you this, Wanda: You will soon discover that you missed a lot of Hanky Panky in a lot of the Eagle nests, and Our Birds are heating things up often ! ☺
We are really becoming voyeurs!
Wow, -2! Makes me want to hibernate.LOL
Hey, Margy...I have a lot of catching up to do. Too tired to do it tonight.
Yes, I'm sure the lights were out at GeeGee's. She probably crawled into bed the moment we pulled out of her driveway. She is an early to bed lady. 7 o'clock most every night.
Peeking Tom's is what we are! LOL
Seeing HP just reinforces (in our minds) the Lib and Belle are making plans for another batch of babies:)
God Bless You Three on a Safe Return, Wanda, get your rest. We'll see you Sunday....
xo ♥
Thanks, Margy.
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
SWEET DREAMS
PRAYERS FOR ALL
Back for a few before I hit the sack!
Well, flannel camouflage pants with lots of pockets and room for thermals underneath over-ruled the bibs on this cold day...☺
I bought a dozen train post cards ☺
I guess it's about that time.
Love, Peace, and Prayers, all xox ♥

I'm a peanut butter lover too!!

Nest Update
01/18/09:
We've noticed the water is rising in the field behind the platform.
This is a water impoundment area where the refuge staff can manipulate the level of water based on our rainfall. Sometimes we see waterfowl feeding there.
Nestorations and talking to each other. Keeps moving same stick. Fell backwards on butt because of that stick. Now wing action to move the stick.
EAGLES.......
SPIT..........
Wants that stick at 12 o'clock position and that is that!! Stick GO THERE !!!
Tee hee I made the split ---weeeee
