NORMA, you asked if we had anymore veterans on the blog...Capt. Eagle served in the Army for 15 years. I have posted a photo of him, in uniform, on my Wanda's Wishes.
Yes, Paula, we have a handsome group of men on here who served our Country and we are proud of each and everyone of them. We are expecially proud of our youg friends and family membes who are serving now in the Iraq War. GOD WATCH OVER AND BLESS THEM ALL.
HAPPY VETERANS DAY to all who served and are serving now & their families!! Some Vets in my family---1 uncle survived Pearl Harbor and another worked w/Gen. Chenault & Flying Tigers. Hubby got drafted during Bay of Pigs, but luckily conflict did not develop. Just dropped in for second to check on things--working on readying house for guests coming to go to Gdaughter's wedding.
Good afternoon everyone and happy Veterans Day.I went out to school and downloaded more photos on my webshots, and good news i will have DSL by the end of the week.I will be able to get on here more often.
Going to get my 3:00 cup of coffee! I really bombed out this morning after I had slept all night. Had a kink in my neck and had the heating pad which was so nice & warn and man I just dreamed away forever! I missed a lot of good chatter & cam viewing earlier but you all make it sound great.
We are leaving for Bedford now. Sharon has to be at the hospital at 11 a.m. Surgery not until 2:30 or 3:00 tomorrow afternoon. I promise to keep ya'll updated, have my laptop with me.
Thanks for all the prayers and love coming our way. Talk to you later.
Thank you Paulleo, Jim, Red, Gene, Frank, Ed, Dave, Suzanne, Deb's husband, Sharon's Father and others Fathers, Brothers, Sisters, Aunts, Uncles, Grandfathers, and ALL AND ANY WHO SERVED OUR COUNTRY .......THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU.
I'm joining my special prayers with all of yours, to all those in need, with special thoughts to the Bluefield Delegation, Lolly, Mema Jo's family, my own family friends, and to all of us who can whisper, "Lord, I need a little help down here. "
And once again, to all our Veterans and those in the Military.
Please forgive me if I have left any names out....I know the list is a large one....
I wanted a platform bird feeder. I looked all over and they wanted $28 for a 12" x 12" feeder. I decided I could make one way cheaper than that, so I got my supplies and can make 2 24x 24 feeders for less than the one that was ready made.
Red I finally read the tribute. Could not get through it this morning I kept crying. Many in our family were in World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War. They are all gone now with their Purple Hearts and other medals of valor. God Bless our military people. Crying again.

Mason is back to his A team at Bryn Mawr. He is healthy and clear of infections. He should start his drug trials maybe as soon as tomorrow. Our rehab techs are very encouraging, he 's tracking well and doing some hand squeezing, eye blinking etc. Keep sending that energy.
Sam, Lisa and family came to visit this past weekend. We had a great time, a short visit with Mason since he had just gotten back ti rehab on Saturday. We had some interesting games of pool too.
Ashley, Grant Kevin, Brett and her dad came up on Sunday as well. Mason was nice an bright for them as well.
Deb that sounds so nice. I use to feed with 4 different feeder plus a peanut flat feeder and a corn feeder. Both squirrels and birds even little Titmouse loved the shell peanuts.
Right now I have to try to rescue my "bluebird" house back. Yep believe it or not. Last year during fall got stolen. Now again this year on ELECTION DAY it got stolen. I know each time who steals it. This time their parents are going to know too. Sad of it is "she" is in the family...they say they can't do anything with her. She is in 3rd grade. Give her to me and she'll not act like this anymore!!
Evening all. Haven't read thru' comments yet....I'm 3/4's done on leaves....took a muscle relaxant and soaked in a hot tub, now getting something to eat. Will catch up and BBL!
I have about 100-150 birds feeding in my yard and needed to expand the feeding area, but I couldn't see paying that much for such a small feeder. I have 3 blue jays, 4 cardinals, woodpeckers, finches, junco's, nut-hatcher's and sparrows, so far. There are more birds headed south, so who knows what else will come. I wish we had cardinals like you do, I was so excited to have a pair nest in the back yard this year. Now I have 4 adults here this winter.
Sorry back there I said she was in 3rd grade. She is in 6th grade. So she certainly knows right from wrong. I just can't believe it when parents say "I can't do anything with her/him".
Deb...Tell us about your new bird feeder. It sounds interesting.
One of my most sucessful feeders was made out of an old cookie pan that had about one inch sides on it. I drilled out a small hole in each corner to let out the rain and screwed a couple of 2 X 4`s on the bottom. We could sit it on the deck railing or sit it on the ground. The birds loved it! And it didn`t cost anything.
Dana, sounds like the adults in that family are NOT in charge. They need to visit Dr. Phil! I've often thought they should teach parenting maybe in high school. No one really knows all it entails. My Mom helped me & gave me Dr. Spock book!!
My problem for feeding is there is a couple of families of skunks in this area. They seem to love bird feed any kind. Cheap expensive you name it they want it.
Loretta if someone had told me what I have seen from these two adults. I never would have believed it. Living here I've gotten first hand and eye and ear contact. Of happenings within that home. Hubby has taught with nephew told him I can't believe you allow this to go on. Seems his wife runs things which is "not running things".
Pauleo, I got an 8' length of 2 x 4 cedar and they ripped it to 2 x 2 for me. Then I got some screening cut to 24 x 24. I cut the cedar into 21 1/2" lengths and am making it square. I will staple the screening on and there you go, bird feeder. I did 21 1/2, because I wanted legs for one of them to set on the ground. The other I will hang up.
I would like one that would be on the ground standing higher up. I need to figure it out because I can't go off the ramp or porch onto the ground to fill them. I want to catch the fallen seed into something high enough but needs to drain well. Maybe a screen over it so smaller bird can get inside that one under the one say hanging.
Let me test it out first, Helen, I'll let you know if my design works. I wondered if I needed to put wood on the bottom, too, if the birds would be too heavy for staples. I'll find out, I can always adapt it.
Deb you got me drawing. Hum hanging feeder could hang over a wooden box type with screen over it.(tray pull out from side to clean). Wooden box under hanging feeder could be supported at the railing of ramp or porch outward into lawn.
Too bad I didn't have your design, Paul, sounds easy. A friend of mine uses the trays from clay pots to put her seeds in. I don't have a good place to set them here. I have to feed in the front yard, my dogs own the back yard.
Red and Gene, our handsome VETERAN fowl friends!!! Thanks for sharing and for serving!!! You, too, Dave, Jim, Ed and Suzanne, and anyone else who has sacrificed to keep us safe!! Deb, you're a carpenter!!!! Be careful w/ the saw!! Oh, Margy, sorry you had to go in early...will make for a really long night. Dana, you wouldn't believe the number of 911 calls for "can't get child to go to school" and "can't control my child". Bullfeathers! Loretta, I bet Dr. Spock-rearing is considered child abuse in this day and age!!!!! It sure served us all well!!
Sharon, know that my prayers are with you and will be anxiously waiting to hear when surgery is over and you are awake. Know that Sissy will take good care of you, and will stay in touch w/ us. Hope you sleep well tonight. And you'll get plenty in the next couple of days. Take the pain meds on schedule...don't try to be stoic and wait. It's very important for healing that you rest as pain-free as possible. This is your nurse talking!!! We love you!
Deb...You`re going to be able to feed a lot of birds with your feeders and the cedar will last a long time. We have the same type of birds here but I had to look up the nuthatch. I think I saw one on one of our trees a long time ago. They feed upside down?
Funny story...When I first put my feeder on the deck we had problems with squirrels. I mixed some of my HOT sauce with the bird seed. The first squirrel put his paw on the feeder, jumped up and ran away FAST. It came back a few minutes later, tried it again, tasted the seed, liked it and jumped right in! Later on he brought his whole family and they ate all of the seed!!
OK, call off the hounds, I am fine, I think I was on here Saturday to wish Jo happy anniversary.. anyway.. We have been busy gathering greens so that I can start making wreaths next week. Long days, and next week, long nights... people only want Christmas wreaths for a short time period, so gotta make as many as I can.
Deb, Mom is doing OK today...kinda tired, but otherwise being a good patient! I may know more tomorrow about when she will be released...hopefully in the next couple of days.
Heard from Sharon tonight as they were on their way to Bedford. They had to stop at an ER, Sharon was having awful back spasms. They tried a couple of meds and found one that worked and were on they way again. Should be there now. She goes to hospital at 11 tomorrow, and they said surgery should start around 1 or 1:30p.m.
She is having the exact same surgeries that I had back in Feb. Mattie is along for the trip. Told her to tell those waiting it would be a fairly long wait.

When I see the cub without the aid of a monitor, I am always astonished by how big he has grown. The camera view has an illusory effect, making it difficult to gauge the cub’s actual size; although, one can appreciate his mass (3.372 kilograms) relative to Lun Lun’s (105.5 kilograms).
This visual anomaly, coupled with the fact that I was unable to recall the cub’s body measurements, created some curiosity. I decided to review past updates; and, from data contained there I composed a chart that depicts the cub’s growth, which I thought I might share it with you.

Hey Deb, you might be going into a new direction and make bird feeders......I'll buy one:)
Neat Deb
I would like one that would be on the ground standing higher up. I need to figure it out because I can't go off the ramp or porch onto the ground to fill them. I want to catch the fallen seed into something high enough but needs to drain well. Maybe a screen over it so smaller bird can get inside that one under the one say hanging.
Let me test it out first, Helen, I'll let you know if my design works. I wondered if I needed to put wood on the bottom, too, if the birds would be too heavy for staples. I'll find out, I can always adapt it.
My drill has to charge, darn it!
Did you all find Dave's new pictures?? They are great. Here is the link to find them:
Dave's eagle nest pictures
Deb you got me drawing. Hum hanging feeder could hang over a wooden box type with screen over it.(tray pull out from side to clean). Wooden box under hanging feeder could be supported at the
railing of ramp or porch outward into lawn.
Too bad I didn't have your design, Paul, sounds easy. A friend of mine uses the trays from clay pots to put her seeds in. I don't have a good place to set them here. I have to feed in the front yard, my dogs own the back yard.
deer on snowman cam:)
This blog hog is heading for the recliner...and maybe a panda nap. TTNF.
Dinner time, I`ll see you all later.
Good story, Paul. Yes, nuthatches feed upside down, so funny to watch them. I have a picture somewhere.
yep, tried that hot sauce, the squirrels loved it.....
I gave up on the squirrels, just let them eat away. They don't come up on the porch anymore, at least.
I think that deer just stuck out his tongue at the cam watchers....
I found the nuthatch picture and posted it along with my squirrels.
The deer are up close to the cam.
I saw that, too, then he looked us right in the eye!
Where has Megan been? Don't think she has been on for a few days.
Love the snowman cam. A new favorite.
lol...too cute:)
I'm thinking a lot of us has tried that hot mix and the squirrels seem to come on back.
Don't have many squirrels here. I'll have to wait until I get the setup to see if any come around. Have seen a couple.
probably starting her Christmas wreaths?
She was collecting pine cones the last time we talked about the wreaths, so maybe she has moved on to the next step.
But she usually stops by. Might have to send out a scouting party.
yeah, well Margy is busy....;)
Checked pic out Deb ... beautiful and clear...lol squirrel reaching. I had a feeder that had plastic on it they chewed right though plastic.
I sent her an e-mail...MTBR
Thanks Mits.
miss her morning songs:(
bunch of raccons in PA
There is a moose on the moose cam.
it is finally back up, was stuck on Nov. 9th...guess that is Primo
I think it is now stuck on 4:46, I haven't seen him move, have you?
no I haven't ,I think Pook turns it off around 5 her time.....maybe it is the first time he has been there since the 9th
That could be, she might have wanted to turn it off while he was posing so nicely.
yep, Pook always tries to get the good shots
OK, call off the hounds, I am fine, I think I was on here Saturday to wish Jo happy anniversary.. anyway.. We have been busy gathering greens so that I can start making wreaths next week. Long days, and next week, long nights... people only want Christmas wreaths for a short time period, so gotta make as many as I can.
Well, hello there, Megan. Glad you checked in with us. Hope your sales are good this year.
NCIS is on...
Thanks, Wanda:)
Glad you are here Megan. Missed you.

Hi, Paula, how is your mom today?
Coons at Pix PA.
Awww, cute little bandits!
Deb, Mom is doing OK today...kinda tired, but otherwise being a good patient! I may know more tomorrow about when she will be released...hopefully in the next couple of days.
Splitsville!
