Good morning Norma. I just watched the video Glo made. What devastation there was. My heart goes out to all effected, especially the family that lost their child. Bless their hearts.
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE... I just looked at Glo's video and it sure does remind you that Mother Nature is in charge. Thanks, Glo for taking the time to take the video and ahare it with us.
Me and Tom are both so tired. Having fun is hard sometimes. Need a couple days off to recuperate. But, no rest for the weary!! The eagles at Dollywood were just beautiful. They seem to have a good program there for them.
Well, there is a nice shot of Tai's butt in the grotto! By the way, he has some really big teeth! Saw them when he was laying on the grate the other day.
OH SHARON!----I used to be able to tell TAI from the other PANDAS by his---'clean white bottom'---ho!--I just saw that 'cute behind' sticking out!!----(no more white bottom)!---He is still COOLER than all the rest!!!---
Good morning everyone. I am back from coffee and dog treats. Coffee was hot and I oculd see my neighbors who had cold milk also for me to use in my cup LOL. Much different than a week ago. Tonihgt I go to work and am also looking forward to the difference a tuesday night will bring. Hope everyone has a great day. Sounds like Deb is in for a very fun week. I am very jealous of all who have been to see Tai and the eagles at Dollywood. ((((hugs)))) so glad you had a great time..Its your turn to have some fun for sure!!! Now get back to work.
PAULA---WASH POST didn't have the EAGLE PIC---but they had a pic of the floaters---colorful inner tubes---holding to each other's tube---would be lots of fun !!--SHENANDOAH RIVER!!!---

The "CHINCOTEAGUE PONY SWIM" is tomorrow...I have always wanted to go, but it is usually to hot, and you have to wait hours in crowded conditions for a 3 minute swim, with no bathrooms close by....I usually visit Assateague in the fall and winter less crowds and usually see the horses
Not working today Norma. I should go in but will go in tomorrow. Don't want my boss to get to use to my coming in. Get to the bank early before it gets too warm.
I took some photos at the Easton Plein Air Festival Saturday for a contest they are having (I didn't know what plein air was - "This term is used to describe paintings that have been created chiefly outdoors, rather than in the studio"). I can submit three. They have to portray the flavor of the festival. I took 128 and narrowed it down to 7. I think I know the three I'm going to submit but would like your opinions:

I'm just getting in under the wire to say Good Morning So many regulars - it is GREAT! You just know it is going to take forever to read it all... lol
Mits: Thanks for keeping us updated of Mei.. Deb: You go you Biker Babe! Remember we have the cams up keeping track of you! Glo: Great to see you back here with us! Sharon: Love your pic! Paula: Glad you joined the Paddlers - I'll be waiting to hear if you think I could do it!! I may just need to stay on the Tow Path! Sissy: Bet you'll never forget this past weekend! Norma: I know what you mean about that "clean white bottom" ALL GONE Bob: Going to look over your pics! Ceil: Loved that RAVEN clip! Cool idea - shame we aren't the Eagles! Dave: Enjoyed all your new photos. Envy you being able to pull up a lawn chair, relax, and watch the eagles soar! Loretta - Keep you eyes to the skies like Suz says and you may be lucky and see a soaring juvie!
Interesting. #1 seems to be a favorite. That was my wife's favorite too. She agreed with Mits that it almost looked like a painting. I was leaning against that one.
LOLLY, to bad about going to South Padre, looks like they got slammed by that hurricane, but you will have a good time anyhow with the family...I love when the family comes to the beach:)
Lynn, Tennessee was too much fun. There were 18 of us in a cabin up in the mountains, went to Dollywood and the Aquarium. We rode rides at Dollywood like a bunch of kids (the old ones did). Then yesterday and today we are so sore we can't hardly move. LOL!! The eagles and birds of prey that they had down there were just beautiful. I was giving anyone that would listen lessons about eagles. HA!!
I bet you taught those folks alot, Sissy!! My cousin and I were all booked in a cabin down there almost three years ago in the fall, but my chemo ended up getting extended and I just wasn't up to it. We have yet to reschedule...boo!
Oh Lynn, you should make a point to do that. We had a great time, just getting to visit like that was wonderful. Relatively speaking, it was very inexpensive for us as well. Those cabins are just beautiful, great deck with a hot tub, jacuzzi, sauna, game room, etc. We don't get to visit like that very often. This is the 2nd time we have done it and hope to start a tradition with it.
The first time we did it was when my sister in law was really sick and we all wanted to spend some quality time with her before she left us. It is just wonderful. There was enough room in the cabin that we didn't get in each other's way but not too big that we weren't together alot.
Dave, I finally found your photos of the Eaglet on the boat... that is just wonderful!!! You take some great photos and I enjoyed them all, but the ones on and around the boat are just terrific!!!
Hi Iris Thanks I am glad to be back on here and yep very glad that Dex and I really came through the storm relativley easy. Getting ready to head off to work now. Will be nice to have a normal shift with lights, camera and action..you know thats all true!!!
Jim, glad everything is ok w/ you. Just talked to my BFF--she is in Highlands--and everything ok there. I wasn't sure how close she was to the city since I haven't visited her in her new location. She was at Huntington Beach when I was there.
Sissy, sounds like so much fun. I don't have enough relatives left for that big a bunch!! Have a group of 8 friends and we rent a beach house and cooking, etc. for that many is totally manageable, but don't know whether I could handle 18!!!! Nice way to make happy memories from a bad situation, too...I think that was kind of how our beach trips started, but I fooled them all...so far!
Lynn, Judy (my sister in law) fooled us too for quite a while. She lived 2 years after that trip. At that time the doc said 3 months tops. I am so glad you are healthy and doing so well. You would be amazed at how smoothly things were relatively speaking will all those people. Had a menu planned and knew what we were going to fix and if some of us where not there at supper time, it was fine. We made it very well.
Tom's mom and dad had 11 children and now they all have children and their children have children, so there are a bazillion of them Riffe's. They are everywhere. I think at last count there were over 80 in the immediate family. Christmas is wild!!
Boy, I am grateful for the facial, been needing one!! We do real good cooking because we are so used to doing it for the masses on the holidays. And we had 2 pregnant women with us this weekend. We were lucky to get out alive.
I've been at my Mom's most of the day. Doctor appointment and a small birthday celebration (B'Day is tomorrow). I need to slip in here for a moment and let you know that Dustin has come home with me to stay for a while (he loves me). So, I will say goodbye to my 'puter for a while and all of you too. I'll check in from time to time.
And you probably know that Delta Dawn is back on the nest. There is a video spot where you can see her return to the nest while the adult is on it too.. will try to post the site here shortly..
LW eaglet still at nest, up in a branch just almost out of sight... well I can't see him at at all now Aaaaah...an Eagle Fix !
Hey, Mits...did you hear the report about the beaches? OC ranked in the top five for water quality and testing procedures, right up there w/ Hawaiian beaches!! Good advertising. On the other hand...because of the Bay, Colchester Beach in Anne Arundel Co., rated poor 42% of the time due to storm water runoff.
Good report on CBS news about our beloved Wolong pandas. Jennifer Liu is the writer/producer of a movie called "Touch of the Panda" which they were filming when the earthquake hit. 5 people at Wolong were killed, which I think we knew, plus the 2 pandas. They said that the only way to get the pandas settled down was alot of hugging by the handlers, and that it will take a long time for them to get over the fear. Can't wait for this movie to come out....it didn't say whether the quake delayed production or not.
Hedgie, our So Cal beaches are never as clear-watered as the more tropical areas.
We have an "upwelling" of materials from below caused by strong currents impacting the coast from the far regions of the Pacific.
It's great for providing foodstuff for the sea life, but even on our clearest day, you probably can't see half as far as in Hawaiian or Floridian water.
If you listen to the sound on the Delta nest, it reminds you of the Hitchcock movie "North by Northwest," where Cary Grant is waiting for a contact way out in the deserted farming area... just before he's attacked by the crop duster biplane.
MOVIN: I was reading some of the older posts on DELTA to get an update on DAN, haven't found it yet...once it had been said they would see if he could be returned to the nest, I'm going to have read further.. Parent just arrived at Delta ! Made a drop-off and POOF gone again. PS - I think they BLOG on that site more than we do !!!
July 29 Mei Xiang continues to show all the pregnancy behaviors previously discussed, although she shifted her activity time from midnight to 3 a.m. this morning. Behavior watchers observed two short periods of ano-genital licking between 3 and 4 a.m.
This morning Mei participated in an ultrasound procedure at 8:30 a.m. She continues to eat well and be responsive to her keepers.
Many of you may be wondering why ultrasound exams are not telling us whether Mei is pregnant. Due to the giant panda's unique physiology, it is difficult if not impossible to visualize the entire reproductive tract. On the left side, we can tell that the reproductive tract has expanded, which is consistent with either pseudopregnancy or a real pregnancy. We are unable to visualize the entire right side. So far, we have not found any evidence to definitively diagnose a pregnancy. We know you'll stay tuned!
COOL, Margy....I won't be back in town til next Tuesday, so doubt that I will be there for the birth, if there is one, would only be there if I were on shift, anyhow. They are discouraging us from being in the cam room, just to hang out, it will get very busy if there is a cub
I've been watching Delta Dawn in the nest eating for my eagle fix today! Thanks Mits for the link to the return of DD. You're right Hedgie - they do the same kind of blogging over there as we do! This is when Delta Dan (I think) fell out of the nest. You may have already viewed this Link Delta Eagle Falling out of nest
Just caught up on the blog. Boy, the suspense about Mei's pregnancy or pseudopregnancy is driving me crazy. It would just be wonderful to have a baby. God is in charge and it is what it is, so I reckon I'll just have to wait it out.
Ya'll have a good evening. Will see you in the morning light.
Jim, I have to admit--no offense--that when I saw the CA beaches I was totally shocked. So used to the relatively clean sand on the east coast, and just couldn't believe all the kelp/seaweed, and stink, and total lack of shells!!! Even Carmel was a mess!
Hedgie, the beach condition depends a lot on the season and place.
Nowdays they often clean up the weed with a skip loader and even drag a "rake." But that's in the warm months and at beaches which see the most use.
I lived near the beach in the Del Mar area of So Cal while growing up, and I got used to kelp (at least a moderate amount). I even like the looks as long as they don't leave the humongous piles I've seen at times.
Kelp is at least as important to the sea life in our area as the coral reefs are in tropical waters. You wouldn't believe the number of species that depend on it in some way.
Oh, Jim, I know you are right! Everything has a purpose! Don't get me wrong...we have it on the east coast, too, but maybe the tidal action is different (maybe deep vs. shallow waves or something) and it gets carried out faster or further or something! Maybe down south and in the tropics the reefs "catch" alot of it!! Who knows...an oceanographer I'm not, tho' I would love to be..or an astronaut...or a zookeeper...etc. LOL
I have lived in Texas all my life. Really like the Florida beaches, but South Padre is great. In front of all the hotels the beaches are great! Along the public beach it is a mess, people can be so sloppy! Makes me ill! However, after Dolly it is all cleaned up! I really want to go there this weekend, understand the electricity will be on Thursday. However, we are going to Galveston. Never been to the beach there, so we will see. Then in Sept. we are going to Port Aransas. First time there as well. I am a South Padre girl!
Jo I had not seen the video of Delta Dan falling out of the nest. Thanks! I knew it was going to happen, but gasped anyway we he fell. Where is he now? I am so glad to see Delta Dawn back in the nest!
Sharon, just in case something bad happens and you can't be a panda when you grow up......watch this! If you have cable or satellite, Travel Channel...Samantha Brown..China...Sichuan episode...wonderful visit to the Chengdu Research Base...airs again Weds. 12am (MN tonite!), 9am, 11pm & Th. 9pm, or Fr. 1am. Did you know...pandas only have twins in captivity, due to artificial insemination. They have to eat so much bamboo each day--up to 80#--because it is not terribly nutritious! Watch it if you can! If you can't, I'll copy it off TiVo onto a VCR tape and send it to you!
Hedgie, I believe I saw somewhere that Pandas often do have twins in the wild, but because of the low nutrition of bamboo, they never have the milk or energy to raise both twins.
But in captivity the handlers always take one twin and hand raise it in their nursery.

Hmmm have to find me a kayak!
Good morning all!
Opinions please!
Easton Plein Air Festival
JMHO, but I like 1,2 and 5;), Bob
Mits - You hit exactly on my problem. My favorites are 1,2,5 and 7. I'm wondering if other photographeres may have captured #1 but I like the composition of it.
Bob, I like 1, 5 and 7 myself!
you have a dilemma, Bob, but I really did like all of them, but, there was something about #1, the intensity in the gentleman's face.
Well, I posted that before I saw your choices. We are not helping you at all! :)
also like his relaxed position, looked like a painting of a painter
lol......no help here:)
eenie, meenie, miney, mo
Bob - 1 and 5 are definites....struggle is between 2 and 7...
I like #1 Bob.
BOB, I like #7, #1, #3....in that order.
Tai is entertaining his public this morning!! Buta has moved over to her most comfortable place. And poor Mei is sprawled out.
I love 7 because it is pretty dark and the colors just beam through the water.
I'm just getting in under the wire to say Good Morning
So many regulars - it is GREAT!
You just know it is going to take forever to read it all... lol
Mits: Thanks for keeping us updated of Mei..
Deb: You go you Biker Babe! Remember we have the cams up keeping track of you!
Glo: Great to see you back here with us!
Sharon: Love your pic!
Paula: Glad you joined the Paddlers

Envy you being able to pull up a lawn chair, relax, and watch the eagles soar!
Loretta - Keep you eyes to the skies like Suz says and you may be lucky and see a soaring juvie!
BBL Off to the Bank
I want to say,
GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE ...
first, and then read this morning's comments.
Hope you're having a wonderful day so far.
It's 68° and climbing in So Cal ... probably will top 80° today.

Jim
Need to read the Early Bird thread.
Hi Wanda - how soon you going up to pick up grandson?
OMG Paula, how hilarious is that!! I love it, thanks for the laugh.
Hi Bob,Finally got a chance to look at your photos. I like 1,3, & 5.
Paula, you mentioned kayaks---we rent them from 8-3:30 ;>)) Come on down!!
Interesting. #1 seems to be a favorite. That was my wife's favorite too. She agreed with Mits that it almost looked like a painting. I was leaning against that one.
Thanks Jim and Iris for Frodo links!
Wanda, who is having the tummy scan...you or your mom? Hope everything is ok!
Hey, Sis! How was Tennessee?
I like 1, 2, and 5!!!!
Another scorcher again today. I get out in the morning but that is all. Even late in the evening I start to melt after a very short time.
We are definitly going to Galveston, not S. Padre. Our son has rented a 4 bedroom house. Should be loads of fun!
Hey, Bob.
Very interesting photos...a few could be indoors as well...so..........
I think I like 1, 6 & 7.
C(°?°)3
Jim
LOLLY, to bad about going to South Padre, looks like they got slammed by that hurricane, but you will have a good time anyhow with the family...I love when the family comes to the beach:)
Bob, 2 & 5 are my favs...4 good, too!
HA!!
Paula, what a great shot of one of our adults!! Can anyone tell whether it's Belle or Lib?
I bet you taught those folks alot, Sissy!! My cousin and I were all booked in a cabin down there almost three years ago in the fall, but my chemo ended up getting extended and I just wasn't up to it. We have yet to reschedule...boo!
I like #'s 1, 5 and 7.
They are all really excellent but I think those 3 fit the festival's theme. Good Luck!
Have a great day, folks.
I'm going to shut this operation down for a while and take care of business around here.
C(°?°)3
Jim
off to pool deck for awhile, later:)
Hahaha!!
We just had a real "Shake, Rattle and Roll" session here in So Cal!!
It was pretty strong, perhaps 5.8 on the Richter Scale, and it was sharp, and then just swayed and rolled for a llloooonng time.
Jim
I'm feeling some after shocks now ... not too bad.
We haven't had a strong one for some time, so everybody on the radio, etc., is pretty excited.
Jim
Jim, I just saw where that happened and said to Sissy I wonder if you were affected by it!
Jim, glad you are okay. Sharon said it just popped up on her computer. Any damage reports?
Just hearing about the earhtquake on my local radio now Jim. Glad to see a post on here from you. Please keep in touch so folks don't worry.
Glad to hear you rolled with the flow, Jim. Thought you might have felt that one :)
The people on the radio are still checking for damage, but it doesn't look as though there's too much damage ... perhaps a little near the epicenter.
Report just came in about severe structural damage at an Outpatient Clinic in Brea.
Jim
I was going to say the center was between here and L.A. ... but further inland.
Probably 20-25 mi. from here.
Now they are saying there was a large landslide between here and Riverside, and a bridge damaged somewhere.
Jim
Bob, I have to be different I guess, but I like 1, 3, 4 and 5. In that order I think...because:
I LOVE the composition of #1
I like the play of light & shade best in #3
I can see grass in #4 (PleinAir) but not in #2 - also the slightly messy hand speaks of hurry, get this down, quick!
I haven't seen anyone use a pallette like that in forever, but he is definitely painting outdoors.
One of the things about painting "plein air" is capturing the light/shade/scene of the moment... it can move away so rapidly
Dave, I finally found your photos of the Eaglet on the boat... that is just wonderful!!! You take some great photos and I enjoyed them all, but the ones on and around the boat are just terrific!!!
Jim, thanks for letting us know you are OK...stay alert please and keep posting so we know all is well!
Glo, it is so great to have you back on here! And I'm so glad you and Dex were not hurt!
Praise the Lord!
well, MEI XIANG, looks like her old self sitting there eating bamboo
Hi Iris Thanks I am glad to be back on here and yep very glad that Dex and I really came through the storm relativley easy. Getting ready to head off to work now. Will be nice to have a normal shift with lights, camera and action..you know thats all true!!!
Mei om CAM#1, Tai, on CAM#2
Jim, glad everything is ok w/ you. Just talked to my BFF--she is in Highlands--and everything ok there. I wasn't sure how close she was to the city since I haven't visited her in her new location. She was at Huntington Beach when I was there.
Iris, you are an art oficionada!!!
EARTHQUAKE MAP

with all those people, I meant and relatively speaking was really a play on words for sure.
I'VE DONE SOME GOOD MEALS WITH 12+ PEOPLE IN A CROCK POT;0
got yourself another facial, Sissy
Tom's mom and dad had 11 children and now they all have children and their children have children, so there are a bazillion of them Riffe's. They are everywhere. I think at last count there were over 80 in the immediate family. Christmas is wild!!
I just heard about the earthquake and thought that you were in that area Jim. Glad to hear you rocked and rolled with it.
Boy, I am grateful for the facial, been needing one!! We do real good cooking because we are so used to doing it for the masses on the holidays. And we had 2 pregnant women with us this weekend. We were lucky to get out alive.
Glad no one decided to deliver, Sissy!!
Yeah, I don't know how to birth no babies!!!
Cool map, Helen!!
Where are you Anne Marie? Yoo Hoo?
Jim - stay safe.
I was just thinking of Annemarie Jo.
Mei is in the birthing room licking her paws.
Mei is in the birthing room licking her paws.
Sissy...the new Hattie McDaniel!!!
I see her Ceil. Been watching her all day! Did anybody on here know that my sister wants to be a panda?
Speaking of sister, heading to her house for a burger. Be back later!
Anne is way further north....
Thanks Paula! I thought someone would remember her location.
WOW Sharon - Eagle Eye's Sissy
wants to be a panda cub and never grow up
Time for dinner here!
BBL
Just saw one of my fawns....2 beautiful white stripes down its back, and still so many spots visible that I can't count them. Loverly!!!
I was thinking that Anne Marie was up near Sacramento...
Dinner time here, too!
yep, Lynn, that is where she is:)...going out for awhile..bbl
I've been at my Mom's most of the day. Doctor appointment and a small birthday celebration (B'Day is tomorrow). I need to slip in here for a moment and let you know that Dustin has come home with me to stay for a while (he loves me).
So, I will say goodbye to my 'puter for a while and all of you too. I'll check in from time to time.
Eaglet at Lake Washington.
For Now.
Good-Bye, Wanda....family much more important:)
And you probably know that Delta Dawn is back on the nest. There is a video spot where you can see her return to the nest while the adult is on it too..
will try to post the site here shortly..
LW eaglet still at nest, up in a branch just almost out of sight...
well I can't see him at at all now
Aaaaah...an Eagle Fix !
Hi folks--home. Just heard on newqs about the CA rumble. Glad everyone is OK. My cousin is in Chula Vista, near San Diego, so guess their OK too.

Delta returns to the nest, 2:43 EDT today...
My brother was in Oakland for "the Big One" back in what I guess was the late 80's - he was not too long getting out of California after that.
Glad You're Okay Jim!! And others' relatives too...I have a nephew at Miramar...and another in LA - will have to try to find out how they are too...
Wanda, your mom's birthday? Tell her to "Have a Happy!"
I looked at the Delta Dawn clip, Magpie... thanks for it.
She made a pretty good landing, and she's still on the nest now, beginning to call incessantly for her dinner.
Any word of the other one, which fell out of the nest?
Gotta check the Channel Island cams soon. None appeared to be up when I looked this morning.
Jim
Hedgie, our So Cal beaches are never as clear-watered as the more tropical areas.
We have an "upwelling" of materials from below caused by strong currents impacting the coast from the far regions of the Pacific.
It's great for providing foodstuff for the sea life, but even on our clearest day, you probably can't see half as far as in Hawaiian or Floridian water.
Jim
If you listen to the sound on the Delta nest, it reminds you of the Hitchcock movie "North by Northwest," where Cary Grant is waiting for a contact way out in the deserted farming area... just before he's attacked by the crop duster biplane.
Jim
Eaglet is back at LW...eating, I think....
yes, Lynn, saw that, another reason we get so many people from NY, NJ, and PA....clean public beaches....hope their water clears up soon:)
A nice big Something was brought in..
LW still in nest...
Would sure like to see one of OURS here at NCTC...
JIM - Maybe you can "BLUE LINK" the Delta eaglet returning...
I don't know how to do it..
DELTA RETURNS
I was here, Margy, so I went ahead and did it;)....lastest report on Mei....nothing new.
Delta Dawn did make a nice landing. Mei is not sleeping in the birthing den and I am calling it a night. Have a peaceful night
July 29
Mei Xiang continues to show all the pregnancy behaviors previously discussed, although she shifted her activity time from midnight to 3 a.m. this morning.
We know you'll stay tuned!
yes Margy, great landing for such a small nest.....
Thanks, Mits!
Boy, the suspense is high regarding Mei...! Wonder how it is all going to turn out...
I appreciate your updates on ALL the activities...you DO want to be there when/if she delivers, don't you???
I got a catalog in the mail today, MITS, it has a beautiful bracelet with the words "It is What It Is."
xo
sorry I meant, Ceil,......must be tired, ocean air does that to me....shutting down too....GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
Good Night Ceil!
LW must have a big something to eat too....
xoxo
Hey - Good night MITS Too! I won't be far behind ya'
z z z
COOL, Margy....I won't be back in town til next Tuesday, so doubt that I will be there for the birth, if there is one, would only be there if I were on shift, anyhow. They are discouraging us from being in the cam room, just to hang out, it will get very busy if there is a cub
2 eagles at LW
DEER PARTY AT PIX PA
Yeah, Magpie, 2 eagles at Lake Washington, and the fledgling is eating its dinner.
Jim
I've been watching Delta Dawn in the nest eating for my eagle fix today!
Thanks Mits for the link to the return of DD. You're right Hedgie - they do the same kind of blogging over there as we do! This is when Delta Dan (I think) fell out of the nest. You may have already viewed this
Link Delta Eagle Falling out of nest
Just caught up on the blog. Boy, the suspense about Mei's pregnancy or pseudopregnancy is driving me crazy. It would just be wonderful to have a baby. God is in charge and it is what it is, so I reckon I'll just have to wait it out.
Ya'll have a good evening. Will see you in the morning light.
Here's a nice little site for hummingbird hatching and developing:
http://community.webtv.net/Velpics/HUM
..I've not seen the LW Eaglets in one spot for this long for awhile...
Moving away from the machine for a few...gonna get ready to hit the sack!
xo
But first: parent down on the nest sharing some chow now at LW...
Jim, I have to admit--no offense--that when I saw the CA beaches I was totally shocked. So used to the relatively clean sand on the east coast, and just couldn't believe all the kelp/seaweed, and stink, and total lack of shells!!! Even Carmel was a mess!
Look at Bai eating her dinner. She looks like she's using one of those TV trays we all used to have ... don't know about now.
Jim
Glad to hear Delta Dawn made it back to the nest...
Wish we could see one!
Been out buying dogfood and lunchmeat and watering the back gardens...
WE gals still have the cam on ocean view....little rascals!
Hedgie - I noticed the same thing...although there were some beaches that were pretty clean of the kelp.
Paula...San Diego was probably the best of the worst!! Unfortunately, I never got any further north than Carmel to see what it was like up there.
9 racoons at PIX - -
make that 11
Hedgie, the beach condition depends a lot on the season and place.
Jim
Oh, Jim, I know you are right! Everything has a purpose! Don't get me wrong...we have it on the east coast, too, but maybe the tidal action is different (maybe deep vs. shallow waves or something) and it gets carried out faster or further or something! Maybe down south and in the tropics the reefs "catch" alot of it!! Who knows...an oceanographer I'm not, tho' I would love to be..or an astronaut...or a zookeeper...etc. LOL
On the Yahoo "open up" page (I call it that...) where it says "Top Stories," it takes you to a link with 68 pics of some Earthquake and narrative...
"Strong Quake rattles buildings, nerves in S. Cal."
look for "slide show" if your page looks as mine does, down along the left side with other links..
BOB QUINN:
I vote for #1, #3 and #4.
They are all nice...down to earth and people proud.
Going to close down earlier than usual this evening........
Good Night Everyone out there
Peace to You & Yours
Prayers for all our needs being said
((HUGS))
I don't see any updates yet, either on Buddy or on the Channel Islands.
Guess I'm jumping the gun on the Channel Islands. They usually do Updates on Wednesdays.
Anybody heard the latest on Buddy?
Jim
Good Night All.
Time for a full-size Panda snooze...
Take Care, and Prayers, for
safety, wellness, peace, joy and serenity.

Jim, nothing new on Buddy since the 27th.
Goodnight all! Sleep tight. Prayers for all.
Thanks for the link, Mema Jo. I thought I had seen Dan fall, but it must have been when Dawn was scared and backed up over the nest's edge.
Just one slip on that big branch in the wind, and over he went. Glad he survived OK.
Jim
Hedgie, I believe I saw somewhere that Pandas often do have twins in the wild, but because of the low nutrition of bamboo, they never have the milk or energy to raise both twins.
But in captivity the handlers always take one twin and hand raise it in their nursery.
Jim
GOOD NIGHT, EVERYBODY.
Happy sleep, bright tomorrow.
Jim
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
