Oh this squirrely thing was fun. Sharon love your pic... When Ed had his open heart surgery in 02. Two squirrels got into our attic. Of course he couldn't do anything. So up the ladder into the attic he sent me. Both ends of the house in the early morning while the squirrels were out. I had to staple small heavy wire. That took care of it. I have to say I remember before hearing them in the attic. The cat kept going into the kitchen running all around the cabinet area. Going nuts...then from the kitchen into the hallway running. So we figured it had to be squirrels. One morning early I stood outside hiding behind a tree. They were coming out for their acorns. ( : lol So the wire did the trick.
Truly that is so not fair...they ask them to do this show. It is hard enough to do with your own dog. They had to do it with 3 others!!! grrrrrrr bark bark
I thing the one they should have sent home was the girl that pushed her dogs but down. The guy they sent was doing his own part right and his dog did good.
I don't like the judges...but I commit myself due to the people that "lovingly entered their beloved dogs"...Short of it; yes I will because of the people and their dogs.
If I get that place to go online. I hope there is a place to let them know what you think. I am going to tell them the judges are too too harsh! Plus I don't feel it was set up to work other people and other dogs together. It should just be each person and dog against one an another.
Hello there HEDGIE, DANA and PAULA. Finally found my way back to you lovely people for now. I haven't read the last two days blogs yet or my e mail, but I had to get on to see how things were going and to see if MaMa Swift's eggs had hatched yet.
Glad to see you got the squirrels out of your attic SHARON. They went up our pilings under the house one year and ate holes by the pilings and got into the underneath of our house. It was a time getting them out. Now we have put wood all around the top of the pilings and that seemes to keep them at bay.
Just came back from the ocean. My friend and I went out just to relax without the hords of people there in the dusk. I hate to sit in the sun and all the people all over. It was very relaxing.
just talked to Ceil, they are in Ohio.....they went thru a terrible storm in Nebraska yesterday....man she was using some stong language for my other sister and b-i-l who wanted to keep driving thru it...a real potty mouth she was...lol.
Helen, are you at the condo or onthe home front now? I guess we aren't getting the Hurricane Burtha; dodged another bullet. :) I don't know how much longer our luck will hold out.
You are sooo lucky HELEN. It used to be soooo nice when we vacationed at the beach and had a beachfront cottage. We spent all day on the beach. ......That was a long time ago when this place was still pristine. I'd love to be able to walk out on my porch and just watch the ocean.
News from the ME forum: The Cornell Chimney Swift cam switched over to a new server today .... now has excellent audio .... the little bobble heads are very vocal when Mom is coming in with food. Also stated was: Michael Postolan is the owner and operator of the Chimney Swifts webcam in Glenham NY and he sent me a message today asking me to notify everyone that he is not giving permission to post photos at our forum taken from the webcam. Quote: "I would at this time ask you to remove all Chimney Swift images from this forum and any websites operated and to please notify your members of this."
Hi Squirrel girl, too! Sorry I missed you! Mits, glad to hear that Ceil and M-M made it safely through the storm. Candy, how far back from the beach are you? And where are you?? I can remember 35 years ago when the entire Outer Banks area was peaceful and pristine, AND sparsely populated. How times change!
HEDGIE That is about when we started, and the was just the beach road and a little two lane highway for the bypass. It was beautiful down here then, but now it has been build up by defelopers wherever they can find a spot. I am back in Colington Harbour; you turn west on the road right after the Wright Bros. Memorial. We moved dodwn here to stay about 26 years ago and there were not many houses in the Harbour; ours was the first on the right after the gate. Now almost all space is gone back here too.
Back here the people with boats like to go as we have the harbour and canals that the houses back on. Now all that is going up down here are BIG HOUSES HERE MORE BIG HOUSES AND MORE BIG HOUSES. North of here in Duck and Carolla, they have places I would call Manasions some of the places. That is the high rent district.
Hey Megan. I hope your flowers are doing great! They are alot of work, but what a joy it must be to see the finished product. I take it you are still taking them to farmers markets on Saturday and Sunday?
Candy--Helen is watching Hopkins! The last two times I was down we stayed in Southern Shores--off season, of course! But some of those places are McMansions, too! The first one was For Sale for $1M, but I thought it was junk!! Mits...when you come back...did you hear the female doc say Baltimore was a social nightmare???!!! Insulting, huh??
ha ha -yea- what a grinch. He should be glad people are paying attention to his cam. Hello Candy- long time no chat- I've been to Nags Head twice-once I broke out in chicken pox and once I had morning sickness the whole time. Never had a fabulous time there, but it was beautiful. Still going to mkt. on Sat, Sun, and Tues. Hello Dana:)
Megan, You don't have many good memories of the Outer Banks then. :) Chicken pox and morning sickness. :(
Hedgie, Southern Sshores in a pretty upper crust place too. It is at the beginning and going north. When I first came down, there was hardly any homes and when I came down to live, I had a friend that had an ocean front home in SS; first of the big homes, but modern. She was ahead of her time. They owned a few businesses down here and the Nags Head Fishing Pier. Gave it all up and are living in Florida.
Good evening gang!! Watched TV & had long phone call w/Dr Daughter. She said in Austin they've had lots of rain & humidity is not so bad! That's different! Had armadillo tho, coming thru yard last night & turned on spotlight! Her hubby hates them! Jo, the Barton's eagle parents are bad, fighting in front of the child!!!!!
Hi Folks, still don't see any Wanda postings...wish I had thought to call her EARLIER, but if we don't see that sweet name on here in the morning, I will call her at 9:01 AM Sharp!
I went to Swanging Bradge hoping to tell Wanda, Hedgie, Dana and all our Berkeley County gals that I had sighted a BEAVER, but no such luck. In fact, it was very quiet, too early for evening roosting activities. Saw the Indigo Bunting, that's about it! Coming and going, though, I saw three fawns, two green herons, and a fabulous Great Blue Heron.
The evening is winding gown. Gonna check the Chimney Swifts and the Barton Cove video that Mema Jo posted....will catch the Blog one more time before beddy-bye time.
That is one nice thing about down here at the Outer Banks, I have never seen or smelled a skunk. I am not saying that there aren't any, but I haven't come up against one. We had them in NY all the time.
It must be Skunk Season. Same thing happened to me last evening - I was calling in the Cat & was so afraid he had been out playing with the skunk! Lucked out on that one.
Loretta, One time when she lived in FL, mom had an armadillo who dug under her concrete patio and was living under there in his tunnel! Finally had to get a relocator to trap him and take him away!
Going to get ready for the News and then off to Bed. I did email Karla about Wanda MIA............ I will peek in before going to bed to see if any word has been received or if Dana gets a call back. This is one thing a mom doesn't miss and that is worrying about one of the (Eagle) family!!
Good Night Everyone Peace to You & Yours Prayers being said for all our needs
My eyelids are getting heavy. I'm taking that to mean bedtime for me.
Take Care All Prayers for Wanda & family since we don't know what is going on. Why she wasn't on today. Could be nothing or could be something. Prayer will still HELP!!
That Barton Cove Video link - is fascinating - you can go from video to video to video....the one Copulation video from March 3 (Maine nest) goes into slow motion halfway through and it seems like something out of a horrow show, the sounds at least. Very weird.
The Chimney Swift Cam we are focused is the CamClickers Glenham NY, right? Is there another one? I can't keep up!
Getting ready to sack out. I'll try to call Captain and First Mate and then will drive down later in the morning if we are still out of contact. (If I don't get called into work which has almost happened three times in two days!)
Good Night all, (I think) Prayers for all, for safety, wellness, comfort, and peace.
yes, Lynn, I did hear that little twits snub of Baltimore....it sure isn't perfect, but it is my hometown....I lived 5 mins from Fort McHenry when I was growing up
Watched last half of the Hopkins show---really intense!! Lynn, that's quite an armadillo story!!My daughter's just dig around in the ground for grubs, etc., but killed some azaleas by digging up the roots! SIL gets out his gun! (I think they're cute, but I don't have any!) Scrolled back on blog & last time I saw Wanda was Wed.AM when we were all interested in Tai Shan's B'day. Maybe her power went out, as I don't think she mentioned going anywhere.
Paula, enjoys those nightly hugs and kisses. Won't be too long before he's flown the coop completely!! Hoping that everything is okay w/ Wanda and her gang. I certainly hope that no one has a run in w/ a skunk...went through it one time about 15 yrs. ago and it was the worst thing I ever had to deal with--youngest let the dog in and didn't notice in time, and she was through the whole house before we could get her. Midnight trip to store for gallons of tomato juice, which really DIDN'T work well. Took days to get the smell and taste out of our systems--I went to work thinking everyone could smell it on me, but they couldn't...it was just IN me! At four AM that first night had to take a ride in the car just to get away and breathe fresh air. AWFUL.
Good night HEDGOE. Glad to have talked to you. Sleep tight. I only have 13 more emails to go through, so guess I'll call it a night too. Hope WANDA and gang are ok too.
Good night all. Have a peaceful and restful night. Tomorrow brings a new day with new beginnings.
Good Friday to all you fine eagle momsters and dadsters. Seems like such a long week-TGIF. I hope you all make a good day. No eagles or eaglets as of yet. Thelma
MaMa Swift is having a bit of trouble this morning keeping her waking chicks quiet and in the nest under her. I think she finally has them all settled down again. :)
Good morning Candy and Thelma. TGIF for sure. Hope to have a nice, productive day. Weather is supposed to finally be nice here with no rain in the forecast for today. Seems like it has rained forever.
Good morning to you EESissy. I was awake this morning, so decided to get up and see if the PJ club was on yet. I think you are all trickling in finally. ;) Hopefully Wanda will get on here this morning.
Morning all:) 60° here this morning, looks like it will be another nice summer day. Off to cut flowers, should've already been out there. Moving like a snail this morning....
Good morning to you HELEN AND MEGAN AND good bye to both of you at the same time. Megan, I just looked at your pics and what beautiful gardens you have. They are huge and really must keep you very busy.
Our nest still MT Swift chicks getting breakfast. Puro hummers are still clustered around the watering hole. Still no live cam for our nest Pete's Pond MT.
With that, I think I will go and watch some news and weather on TV to see what today holds. It is cloudy so far dowwn here. Time will tell.

Here, Dana! Maybe everyone is watching! Hmmm...I'm kind of disappointed; not what I thought it would be. How about you?
Spidey is starting his web in our nest.
Wanda and crew are probably eating crabs!
Hi Hedgie...yes I'm very disappointed....some of these dogs were NOT mean't to do the type of things they are asking them to do.
I don't like the judges either!!
Truly that is so not fair...they ask them to do this show. It is hard enough to do with your own dog. They had to do it with 3 others!!! grrrrrrr bark bark
Hedgie crab legs are only Fri and Sat...
Darn they didn't say when it is on again.... Oh my wonder what happened to poor Star...sniffle sniffle Such a wonderful doggie.
Right, Dana...the judges seemed very snobby and supercilious!
Hedgie it is on again next Thursday 17th at 8 pm same channel.
Whoops...it IS only Thurs...seemed like Fri. for some reason; probably because I cleaned house today, which I normally do on Fri.!
I thing the one they should have sent home was the girl that pushed her dogs but down. The guy they sent was doing his own part right and his dog did good.
OK, Wanda and Gene...come out and play...we miss you!
Not sure I'll waste time watching again...what about you, Dana?
I don't like the judges...but I commit myself due to the people that "lovingly entered their beloved dogs"...Short of it; yes I will because of the people and their dogs.
There is some Deer Activity in the PA woods! Hadn't seen many recently.
If I get that place to go online. I hope there is a place to let them know what you think. I am going to tell them the judges are too too harsh! Plus I don't feel it was set up to work other people and other dogs together. It should just be each person and dog against one an another.
Right on, Dana!!
Good evening everyone. I am back home in what I pray is a squirrel-free house! Not long before I go to bed. Been a trying little day!

Dana, you have mail...sent you the dog site, it has a forum....I didn't watch it, because the commercials looked kinda boring
Just came back from the ocean. My friend and I went out just to relax without the hords of people there in the dusk. I hate to sit in the sun and all the people all over. It was very relaxing.
Hey HELEN. You are on here tonight too. Good to see you. I hope everyone is doing ok.
GREATEST AMERICAN DOG SHOW
Hi Sharon, Candy and Mits ( :
Mits ty for the mail..
No one asked, but I think it would be nice if each week the dog program would just focus on one dog and it's family. That would be interesting to me.

just talked to Ceil, they are in Ohio.....they went thru a terrible storm in Nebraska yesterday....man she was using some stong language for my other sister and b-i-l who wanted to keep driving thru it...a real potty mouth she was...lol.

Howdy again...back from feeding dogs and fixing dinner...debating whether to make zucchini bread tonight or not..

Good niggt Helen. I guess you went to bed. PLeasant dreams to you and yours.

Still going to mkt. on Sat, Sun, and Tues. Hello Dana:)
Hi ya' Megan! How was your day?
Paula...what did you decide about the zucchini bread? Yummm!
Megan,
You don't have many good memories of the Outer Banks then.
Hello Hedgie- not too bad, much less humidity today, beautiful summer day.
There is a zuchini lover right here too PAULA. I'll eat it any way you fix it. Yummmmmmmy!
Hi Megan ( :
I'm watching Hopkins also.
Hedgie I registered at that site and they are suppose to send me a confirmation email. Been awhile now and haven't received one.
Anne I need your skunk repellent whew Opened front door and what a smell. Never see it though...only smell it.
LOL, I sat on my butt too long. Maybe tomorrow night for the zucchini bread...too tired tonight from mowing!
Margy I called Wanda and left a message. That we ALL are worried about her. We are hoping she, Gene, Mom, and family are ok.
Margie - Dana did call & leave a message for Wanda. You just may need to do a drive by! I may have Karla's email - .....
I hope her computer just crashed!!!
Dana - before I had a fence, we used to have an almost nightly visit from a skunk!
LOL...tis the seaon.. smells like pepe le pew just walked by the house here. Dog wants to go out and I DO NOT.
Whew JO. There is nothing worse than having your pet have a run in with a skunk. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
The sound is clear at the chimney swift nest - Sounds now just like a lot of traffic going by...
The skunk sure doesn't have the pleasant smill of your flowers, MEGAN. I wouldn't walk the dog now either.
Yeah, try telling that to the dog- I'm ignoring him, but he keeps sighing.
JO, it also sounded like someone was shooting off fireworks for a bit awhile ago. They are all holding on for dear life in that small nest. :)
Jo...Barton Cove parents might be heading for a d-i-v-o-r-c-e!! NOT setting a good example for Juvie!
The chimney swift is a very interesting bird.. especially their
nest. Amazes me! Glad we found it to watch.
Candy - Megan has some new pics on her blog of the garden........
Thanks JO. I'll take a look see.
Loretta,
One time when she lived in FL, mom had an armadillo who dug under her concrete patio and was living under there in his tunnel! Finally had to get a relocator to trap him and take him away!
Sure is nice to get a hug and a kiss from your kid before he goes to bed!
Yepper! There are some things that a mother misses!!
Your right about that Jo
My college kid arrived home last night...he is back staying here 3-4 days/week...got his old job back...needed to make some $$$
We are meeting at the Thurmont carnival tomorrow night to have catfish for dinner!
I'll third that JO and DANA.
Aww, so sweet:) going to take the dog out- carefully... and get my hugs, then off to bed, Nite all.
PAULA. Enjoy it while you still can.
Going to get ready for the News and then off to Bed. I did email Karla about Wanda MIA............ I will peek in before going to bed to see if any word has been received or if Dana gets a call back. This is one thing a mom doesn't miss and that is worrying about one of the (Eagle) family!!

Good Night all, (I think) Prayers for all, for safety, wellness, comfort, and peace.
