I'm reading on Saturdays comments right now Thelma. She isn't on there. I do remember her asking Sharon or Sissy about what places in their area would be good for her grandkids to visit..Remember flea market etc.
I wish you were there too Paula so you could report and bring us back some pics. Hope you all make a good day today-I'm going to take Mattie to the store-later.
Friday, the older one fledged on her own and returned, and then a low flying plane scared both of them off the nest, effectively fledging the second chick as well.
Yesterday, nobody saw anything of either chick, and it was never sure the parents knew where they were or were feeding them. Although a couple of ladies "thought" they heard them close to sundown.
Well, there's more evidence today that they are alive and well. They haven't returned to the nest, but this is the next best... a clip of probably the younger one "flying" on the slope behind the nest.
good morning . feeling muscles I lost in the third grade. Worked in the yard all day yesterday.cool breezes coming in from the bay and we lost our 100+ temps. Its wonderful.
megan you are a regular Liza Doolittle. The flowers are beautiful. The heat burns up everything here. My beautiful hydranga is burned to a crisp. heavy watering didnt help.
More drama at WE . They think it was Miracle that landed back home at WE, and was forced off the nest by another adult eagle...not one of the WE parents!
I'm back. Thanks to everyone for their prayers for a safe trip. We needed them. Thanks for the concern about my illness. Hedgie loved the cartoon. I like pigeons. I know they are dirty, but they are all different. We got home Friday night and I have been trying to get things caught up. I read all the blogs that I missed. Very interesting reading. Happy belated birthday to Nilla, Magpie and Marie. Get well wishes to Dustin. Will talk later.
Almost forgot. When I turned the computer on yesterday morning I saw a juvie and I saw the two in the nest this afternoon. Missed everyone. Good to be back. We do have a beautiful country. Son and girlfriend treated us wonderful. Went to the Oregon zoo. Saw their 2 eagles. Beautiful. Will talk later.
Good afternoon everyone. I am still in Bedford. Just went out to the store and thought I was going to blow away on my way back into the house. Looks like a storm is a-comin'!
Holy moly!! What a down pour- we already had an inch of rain when I ran outside 15 minutes ago- the power went out briefly and the sump pump has stopped working- which is just fabulous... water is rising around the pump and flowing into the basemant- not sure why it won't work- checked all the breakers.. #@&**%^$%#$^&&^&**(*
Raining so hard you can't see through the drops! My oh My! I just looked at your flowers and I should have been down to market this morning!!!!! Love the buckets!
Good afternoon, all. All caught up on blogs. Great update on Buddy (the bird, Thelma!). Those people at the Wildlife Center are truly dedicated! Megan..your display is beautiful. Hope you sold out! Hope Mattie is having fun in Bedford.Glad you didn't blow away, Sharon. Welcome home, Ceil, hubby and M-M. Hope you are feeling much better, Ceil. Now you need to make a trip to the beach to see Helen. Anne Marie..was Norma coming up to visit Lisa in Shepherdstown?
HI Hedgie and Jo!! Yep, had a very good day, tons of flowes and yep, I sold out:) I didn't realize that if you clicked on a pic on my blog it would go full screen..duh- then you can really see the colors.
Rain was powerful here this afternoon. Just rumbling thunder--no loud cracks--but wind was high and rain was sideways. Gentle rain since about 3:30--the kind we need. And temp dropped from 87 to 76--very refreshing. My new knowledge for the day from one of the nature shows this am: Owls are the only nocturnal bird in North America. And only Great Horned Owls hoot--which means that I have several here, because I hear multiple hoots from various directions almost every night! Like I always say...learn something new everyday!
Hi Paula, Jo and Megan, Megan we have a back up sump pump. Battery operated that we put in a few years ago. What a great pump. Our electricity went out while we were away. My neighbor called me. Told her don't worry. We have a stream under our house and we are in the city. We would take out the whole block. Beautiful flowers Megan. I wanted some when we were at the market but knew we were going away.
No rain here. Doing much better Lynn. Thanks and for the great cartoon. Think I need a vacation down the ocean hon. Hope to get there the next few weeks. Going to Cape Cod the end of August and hope to get to the open house in October.
A million thanks for the flower compliments, you guys:) This rain is just what my garden needed, hard rain, but no wind once it started, temp is 70° right now- Yeah, I gotta go figure this out- have checked everything twice- my maintenance man isn't here- Either the pump has died, or something is still tripped.. BB
This rain stops then starts again I can hear thunder up there - no lightning here though. I have a grandson whose b-day is today - He is a juvie - you know a teeny bopper! 13 years old! Going over in about an hour for ice cream cake!
I've been looking at the OC cams I don't think Helen's visitors went down on the board walk or maybe I just missed seeing them. We have about 4 or 5 cams for the boardwalk. I was also watching & just saw our daughter, Jenny go through the inter-section of DE 54 & 20. We were on the phone with her & was able to spot them at the stop sign... Oh What Technology You can't escape anyone!!!
Happy Din Din time. Been working on pictures, and in early am read a lot on CHIL forum. Had heard about Limuw before & Glo made a gorgeous video around the time he passed. Then 2 ladies flew to Nevada, rented a car, found area & his feather+, had a small service & placed a memorial stone. They did not post pictures until late Feb. '08. Sad, but beautiful. I reread some of our posts in Feb., but didn't see it mentioned. But it probably was. I really started out looking for update on WE eaglets.
Good evening all my beautiful Eagle buddies. Been at the lake for the past couple of days, didn't stay (though we should have) but went back today with a couple of friends. We got soaked to the bone by a storm, TWICE. Looked like it would clear up and then happened again, storming here now. I think it followed us back from Dublin.
Anyway, how is Dustin? I haven't gone back to yesterday's blog--too lazy to be honest.
Back on Hi Ceil glad your feeling better and back...Jo sounds good ice cream cake...Megan your flowers are a "touch of painted beauty in ones life" ( : Hi everyone so I don't miss anyone..
Hi Sissy and Loretta, Good to be back. Missed you all and the eaglets. Back to normal for awhile if that is possible. Loretta I am feeling much better. Hubby is sick now.
I can't tell what that is, could be a turtle shell I reckon.
I swear, with all this rain, it is like monsoon season around here. Saturday was absolutely beautiful, though, great sunshine. Hard to come by around here.
The camera person zoomed in on the tail end of our panda when he/she laid down. The tail end was hanging out over one of the rocks! And Uepper! I SAW IT ALL HAPPEN!
It was really TOO funny Dana/Sissy. I was thinking it was the Panda Watch (new cub) and that I was going to see that little stick of butter shoot out of there! lol
I can only get one panda cam .... Now I see maybe Mei in the birthing den??? Like Chrissy said this afternoon Where is Helen when you need her? We need our panda expert....
I have 2 different cameras of the pandas, have had them up for days, keeping just clicking on the play button and it is 2 different pandas. I think the poop shoot was was Mei and Tai is eating bamboo. I think, but I get all the names confused and twisted around, so I am certainly not one to ask.
Tom is gone to stay with his Mom tonight, so I have an empty house (except for 3 very beautiful dachshunds). Looks like another storm is abrewin'. Gonna watch some Law and Order. BBL.
Hello everyone... We all had a very restful night. Gene got up and gave Dustin his 2:30 meds. Both went right back to sleep. I guess it is my turn tonight. Kinda like when I used to babysit him and give him his 2 o'clock feeding. I have a 14 year old baby! LOL
Hi Wanda, Good to hear from you. Hope Dustin is well soon. Helen told me while we were on the road that they were concerned about you guys. Antibiotics lasted only 5 days and the pharmacist said they would be in my system another 5 days. I will go back for a check up this week. Hubby is sick now. Saw a lot of RV out west.
WELCOME BACK CEIL. Sorry to hear your Captain is not feeling well, but happy to hear that you are feeling better...We missed you, all right! But we got some pretty comprehensive reports of your travels. Bet it's nice to be home!!
WANDA AND GENE: Dustin has the best nurses!
Just hopping on for a bit, busy day at work.
MEGAN: Your new posy pics are a real cheerer-upper...
Time to get cleaned up...after looking at Meg's flowers, I cleaned up my sorry little flower boxes out front....most of what was in there had to come out...Wahh...time for new plantings...
DANA - I was not working yesterday evening, but might pick up a clue at work in the morning....it might be in the newspaper in the morning, not sure....I woulda looked over the calls today from yesterday but we were hopping pretty good ourselves while I was in there, especially when the rain storm came in from the West....
Back from b-day party. Ice Cream cake was yummy. Dana, thanks for the info on the 2nd panda cam - I was always able to bring it up by clicking right under the 1st cam.
I just found a ferret cam at the zoo. There is a baby with its mom. He is a pudgy little guy.
It looks as though all the uproar at the WE nest has settled down.
The two eaglets, which had been scared off the nest by the aircraft, have been "found" or returned on their own; they're being fed and protected, and they will likely develop normally into great adults like their parents.
Nest looks empty so far...it had a real "ghostly" appearance overnight with all the Spidey things.
Opened up Loch Lowe's just in time to see Solo fly up off the nest. Cool! That cam scans a little and just showed a view of a bird on a branch just above the nest, but I can't tell anymore if it is the Baby of the Mommy. Nice close up of a squealing Bird there right now, think it is Solo. Loch Garten all squealy too.
Parent chimney swift all mantled over the nest...that is a noisy little site.
Looks kinda dark and cloudy at the Finney sites.
Good Day Wishes to all...gotta head out for work at this end soon.

I'm reading on Saturdays comments right now Thelma. She isn't on there. I do remember her asking Sharon or Sissy about what places in their area would be good for her grandkids to visit..Remember flea market etc.
I see on Saturdays comments where Jamie came in again...Mr. J....
Nice to have him back...another Dadster.
Eaglet has been all over the nest, back and forth between 12 and 6...must be cleaning up any nestovers...
Dana, that was Jim asking about Norma and I think it was a friend of hers and the friend's grandkids coming to Bluefield.
Nature to your question when you come on. YES we have seen Liberty and Belle flying around at NCTC during Oct. open house.

very happy you are here with us! Join us often!
Tiny's tail feathers are a dead give away!
Yes they are! Hard to tell when she was first in the nest in the bright sunlight...easier now. They are both rummaging around the nest.
Tiny ssems to be lighter than Pearl, too.

Man, just missed the pic, adult landing on the right, now Tiny looks like she is mantling
Tiny looks like she is eating again!
Did I tell you how much I miss the
LIVE FEED when it is down......????
Yup, really missing it this morning! Lots of action!
You two ladies have that right...really been active at the nest. Live feed would have been fun..glad the refresh is up.
Me too Dana. At least we can see them.
Thats a nice looking fish!
Hey everyone, there's good news from WE.

It has been a long time since I saw ZZ. Cute picture Jim. Thanks
Good luck Megan. I even keep an extra sump pump. I am so paranoid about taking my neighbors out.
Be careful, Megan. Don't get electrocuted!
Right be careful Megan. I am off to fix supper.
Any further word on Norma? Does anyone know how to reach Lisa? Romney is a little ways out to send the posse....ready Magpie?? I'll go with you!
Like your new avatar, Anne Marie.
I'm sure Norma will show up tomorrow...she is rather busy on the weekends, and doesn't get on much!
Okay, Paula. No one can accuse us of not looking out for each other!
This rain stops then starts again
I can hear thunder up there - no lightning here though.
I have a grandson whose b-day is today - He is a juvie - you know a
teeny bopper! 13 years old! Going over in about an hour for ice cream cake!
I've been looking at the OC cams
I don't think Helen's visitors went down on the board walk or maybe I just missed seeing them. We have about 4 or 5 cams for the boardwalk.
I was also watching & just saw our daughter, Jenny go through the inter-section of DE 54 & 20. We were on the phone with her & was able to spot them at the stop sign...
Oh What Technology
You can't escape anyone!!!

I can't tell what that is, could be a turtle shell I reckon.
I swear, with all this rain, it is like monsoon season around here. Saturday was absolutely beautiful, though, great sunshine. Hard to come by around here.
Is anyone looking at the pandas at the national zoo? I can't really tell what I am looking at on one of em.
Oh, it was her butt. How funny. Her tail was bobbing up and down while she was sleeping, too close up and I couldn't tell what it was.
On one panda napping
On two panda eating bamboo
Buddies You are not going to believe this BUT I just witnessed a
PANDA POOP SHOOT!
Link to DC Panda
The camera person zoomed in on the tail end of our panda when he/she laid down. The tail end was hanging out over one of the rocks! And Uepper! I SAW IT ALL HAPPEN!

Like Chrissy said this afternoon
Where is Helen when you need her?
We need our panda expert....

I need to pack it up and go get my
ice cream cake...
Be back in a little while......
I reckon our Helen is still being held hostage by her weekend guests! :)
Welcome back home Ceil. We really missed you.
Hate I missed the panda poop shoot. I guess they were looking for that stick of butter and definitely got a stick of something else! :)
Welcome home, Sis-o-mine!
I have 2 different cameras of the pandas, have had them up for days, keeping just clicking on the play button and it is 2 different pandas. I think the poop shoot was was Mei and Tai is eating bamboo. I think, but I get all the names confused and twisted around, so I am certainly not one to ask.
Hey Sher!! I wish you would come home. Gonna go down there one of these times and not come back, I see it coming. Lonely ole place around here.
Also to get to the other camera just scroll down alittle and it says "More Giant Panda Cams" that will get you to the other cam.
Tom is gone to stay with his Mom tonight, so I have an empty house (except for 3 very beautiful dachshunds). Looks like another storm is abrewin'. Gonna watch some Law and Order. BBL.
Juvie in the nest!!
Looks wet.
Hi Sharon, Good to be back. Pandas can do good poop shoots. They are like elephants.
We are not getting much rain so far and no thunder or lightening.
Hi Dana. Pandas are cool. Hope there will be a new one soon. Tai will still be my favorite but it would be nice to watch a new one.
Hello everyone...

Welcome back, Ceil. We were all concerned about you. Glad you are feeling better. Are you still on antibiotics?
Hi Wanda, Good to hear from you. Hope Dustin is well soon. Helen told me while we were on the road that they were concerned about you guys. Parent chimney swift all mantled over the nest...that is a noisy little site.
Looks kinda dark and cloudy at the Finney sites.
Good Day Wishes to all...gotta head out for work at this end soon.
