Thanks to all for your support and kind comments. We plan on starting the cams all over again next nesting season. While there is a small chance the adults would move on, that is unlikely--they will probably be with this nest for many years. As far as I know we will keep the still cam on. If it shuts down for a time I will let you know.
It is truly amazing that the three eaglets fledged and are all still around several weeks later. These birds have beaten tremendous odds. We have all observed and experienced a rare event in the natural history of bald eagles.
We'll keep the blog on and rolling, and we'll all be ready when the action starts again at the end of the year.

I like my tea strong so I use 4 family size tea bags per gallon of tea and 1 cup of Splenda. Nectar of the GODS.
I always wanted to be part of that team - Now I am -- Thelma, Louise and Sharon. (I guess I was stuffed in the trunk as you drove into the Grand Canyon).
That has a nice ring to it. All we need is some sunglasses and Babuskas aka a scarf.

Speaking of that, I watched the Blackwater Osprey fledging video clips today at work...where they have a fast connection. [Wish I could get that DSL here..besides being much faster, it costs less than half what AOL does]
The clips...very stimulating...the young Osprey takes off and lands much like a helocopter on its first try. The flying was less exceptional, but still competent. You all should watch them if you get a chance.
I also am happy the blog will continue...now if we can just talk the authorities into adding sound and the ability to pan the area with the camera(s) after the eaglets have flown the nest for next year.......
I don't know what's the story at that blog site Glo was talking about, but I guess I shall check it out.

Hi Jim, My favorite video was when the fledge landed on its sibling. Blackwater is a beautiful area, only about an hour and a half from where I am living right now. Might have to ride up there.

I still long for sitting on a balcony with a good cup of coffee, breeze blowing, dolphins going by! Maybe next year - or maybe not as Andrew starts college next year. Then I really won't have money to go to the beach for at least 4 years!

Suzanne, there was a horrible storm that rolled through and Spunky was in the nest during it. I frapped most of it. It was absolutely incredible to watch.
Not an MT nest. I see somebody at the launch pad, I think.
But not anymore.
5:42 a.m. A very wet-looking eaglet in the nest.
Now at 12 o'clock.
5:47 a.m. Now at the tree trunk.
5:52 a.m. MT nest again.

Do you see the 2 sticks between 3 and 6 o'clock? Spunky pulled those up when the storm started. It was so incredible watching him weather that storm, although at times the leaves were totally covering the camera. Spidey's web took a licking but kept on ticking.
I am going to try to put the frapped storm into 1 file and send it out sometime today.
Somebody needs to do some housecleaning today. That nest is a mess!
Good Morning Sharon and Suzanne, Missed Spunky, was out watching sun-rise, it came up at of the haze this a.m. No storm here last night, just a few claps of thunder and a little rain, stayed to the north of us. Can't wait to see fraps from the storm last night. Speaking of sticks, Tai and his Mom must have been playing pick-up sticks last night. Long bare bamboo sticks, looks like they were trying to build a tee-pee.
Sharon, have you checked that nest out in BC. That one is falling apart. Major renovation for that one, will be interesting to watch , if they have the cam up.
6:28 a.m. Parent in nest, then 2 eaglets, now 1 eaglet mantling and everybody else is gone.

i JUST WANT TO THANK ALL WHO WERE INVOLVED I HAVE HAD THIS CAM UP AT MY WORKPLACE SINCE ITS BEGINNINGS AND I HAVE EDUCATED ALOT OF PEOPLE ABOUT IT AND THE EAGLES. IT HAS BEEN A VERY UPLIFTING EXPERIENCE AND YES AT 46 AND BEING A MAN I TOO HAVE HAD A TEAR OR TWO AT TIMES FOR THE EAGLES UNBELIEVABLE THEY ALL 3 SURVIVED. MADE ME PROUD TO BE AMERICAN AGAIN !! YOU GUYS ARE GREAT AND I WILL DEF BE LOOKING FOR OUR NEW FAMILY NEXT SEASON !! THANKSTHAD!
