Good Morning, Eagle Land!

Thanks for the new thread, Steven.

Just Vicky said...

Good morning Momster! Hope we get "action" today again!

paula eagleholic said...

Me too! Hope somebody can keep good notes today, going to be away most of the day...:(

Ginger I was thinking when you said they were building a new bridge. When you look at the Washington State site on the Osprey
they had to build a platform and the osprey took right to it. So if the new bridge has the platforms like it did before the osprey will come back. I surely hope so.
Enjoyed the "stick" story...I got tired of throwing sticks to logs up. This one found and chased me; then I had the National Guard men and women use the cargo plane. They hauled out a huge log. Yep he caught it almost sunk him in the river but he hung on. lol of course you know I am kidding about the National guard and cargo plane. Sure sounded good though. lmbo

paula eagleholic said...

Suzanne,
I can't wait to see the Osprey's fledge!

paula eagleholic said...

Ginger,
I, too, really liked the "stick story" of how the eagle picks it's mate....I must be throwing out logs, haven't found a good catcher in a long time!

wvgal_dana said...

Jim you have mail.

wvgal_dana said...

I do believe though if you ask him; he would tell you I through up a "railroad tie" for him to catch.
Well I was tired of imiatations!!!

VICKYI did not know we had a new thread, answered you on the last thread.

Anonymous said...

Well, I will be out most of the day, going to Lewes, Delaware for lunch and some shopping with my friend. Maybe, pick up something for BABY KALIS, only 7 weeks to go....Did I mention I will be a 1st time GRANDMOM Sept. 2nd.?? Put down those sticks, I bruise easily.:):):):)

wvgal_dana said...

Mits went back to old thread and read. I hope the count on the dolphins is good. They need to be reproducing at Ocean City.

paula eagleholic said...

Mits,
How I envy you! My mom had a beach house down on the "west" side of the bay, where the Potomac meets the Bay...but Isabelle got her....really miss going to the beach every weekend....did that for nearly 30 years....

paula eagleholic said...

And wow, only 7 weeks, and Mits will be a Grandma! My, how time flies....look at our eaglets....already young adults!

floralgirl said...

Morning all- In from the garden for breakfast-a late one, been cutting flowers since 5:30 am,gotta get em in before that sun gets to high in the sky.Hope someone will catch some eagle action today.Love all these 'stick' stories,my husband would probably say I dropped a forest of sticks ,but darn if he didn't catch them all and he's been juggling them for 19 yrs.now!Love the osprey cam at Blackwater-those babies are really pretty.I've been to Blackwater a couple of years ago-a really beautiful place with lots of osprey and eagles, well worth the drive.

paula eagleholic said...

See ya'll later! Have a great Day!

HI PAULA, I LOVE BEING AROUND ANY WATER. SPENT MY SUMMERS AT MY UNCLES' SHORE HOUSE ON THE MAGOTHY RIVER. TIME SURE DOES FLY BY FAST, BUT WHAT FUN IT HAS BEEN WATCHING THESE EAGLETS GROW.

wvgal_dana said...

9:54am I see we had a visitor not an eagle or eaglet; nor little birds. I guess it was walking on the lens of the cam; a flying type long bug. Had it visit around. Took a look at us and went to a limb I guess. OOOppps he's back.
Just keep watching he likes to hide then out the big guy comes againl

wvgal_dana said...

Norma are you lurking out there??? I read you post on the other thread but by then hun everyone was on here. They probably didn't see you post unless they go back. I am sure alot would have said "Good morning to you".

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I figured the bug on the camera lens would get caught in Spidey's web, but he flew right off. I am really glad because I really did not want to witness a murder by a spider.

I am here for the day so if there is any activity, I will be the ace reporter on the J.O.B.!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Mits - I didn't know you were going to have a grandchild? When? :)

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I just checked in on Papa Smurf's (CT) osprey - my God, he has gotten huge! As big as the mommy. Unbelievable at how fast they grow!

wvgal_dana said...

eagle-eyed Sharon good to hear you will be on here today. I have to go out about 11am back sometime around 1 or 2pm.
Will be checking on comments. Hope there is some action but hate to miss it again.
I figured that bug was too big and strong looking for old spidey. He wants something small and tasty. lol not a lumber-jack

wvgal_dana said...

Some kind of small bug maybe a fly on the large leaf (one that points toward the sky) over toward the left. As wind blows sometimes it does; maybe wings move up some. Now that would be tasty for spidey.

wvgal_dana said...

Boy at the Osprey nest at Blackwater it almost looks like the nest is too small. They have grown so much. Wow

wvgal_dana said...

Oh my spidey is on the move!
Well all of God's creatures need food.

Mema Jo said...

Good morning. I guess we'll never know who made the almost smiley face design in the nest or from what it is made.Sounds like everyone has their day planned - I'll be gone about 4 hrs & I am hoping that a lot of nest action will be seen in my absence.. I know we are ready for some.
MITS Be careful on the ferry ride over to Lewes.
Sharon I know your play by play of any events will be worth reading when I return.

I don't want all of you just to watch da bugs on da leaves all day!!
Come on you Eagles

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

12:20 p.m. MT nest. ARRGGHH!

Anonymous said...

hey all. just popped in to say have a good weekend... going to take next dose of Happy Pills... why is it this kind of injury always gets worse before it gets better? i'm ready for the "gets better" part, anytime now would be fabulous..

The Blackwater ospreys are close to fledging... right now, there are two babies and one adult huddled together at the 1 o'clock position, looking down at something... maybe one chick left?? there is another baby at the 7 o'clock position, so I know there's at least three in the nest of the four babies... I'll watch for a few minutes, maybe I can get a definitive snapshot...

Bird Girl

Anonymous said...

nope, all four are there... darn.. hoped to catch a fledge...

belle_wv said...

Maybe the parent(s) are there coaxing them to branch down on the tree?

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

1:34 p.m. No activity in the nest so far today!

WHERE IS SPUNKY? WHERE IS SPUNKY?

Just Vicky said...

He's probably down by the riverside eating sushi

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Bird Girl and vicky from oakwood il I've been checking in on both osprey and washington state also. Hope to see a fledge between on of those 3 places.
vicky from oakwood il has your eagle emailed you and said he is tired of flying yet?
Mema Jo earlier I was only watching for action in nest. Can't help it was bugs and spidey lol.

Just Vicky said...

NO he hasn't emailed me! He has miles and miles to go!

Just Vicky said...

I'm sure some of YOU will email me soon! I'll have to take the flapping out of him!

Mema Jo said...

3:30pm MT NEST Yesterday this time we had visitors....... Maybe they're just running a little bit late today - It is one hot day out there - Couldn't blame them for staying down by the river....

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Yeah, Jo, but it seems like the lure of a nice, shady comfortable bed would spark their interests! The breeze is even blowing for them.

wvgal_dana said...

Vicky from oakwood il I like him moving; I think he is neat!!!
eagle_eyed sharon maybe they are at the river learning to swim--cooling themselves off. Now that would be something to see wouldn't it?

wvgal_dana said...

I just got finished reading an article in paper. I remember Geula said it sounded like she wasn't in the area were there was problems. My thoughts are with her hope all is ok. Be glad when someone hears from her or she checks in here.
Geula my prayers are with you (eagle friend).

Just Vicky said...

Yes, Geulah, we are eager to hear from you again! It has been too long since you've blogged!

Just Vicky said...

The live cam looks so dark compared to the still!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Geula, I think all our prayers are with you. You are one of our family and we hope all is well!

wvgal_dana said...

Checked in on Panda's cub and mom eating bambo.
Osprey at Washingtn State cam is down.
Conn. Osprey parents just brought in food the the one.
Blackwater in Md. they are all bunched together (osprey).
4:41pm EST here and still no visitors. Guess they are going to be out all day and come in tonight for some sleep.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

They will come in tonight after Spidey and the Eagle spirits take over. Tai and Mei are sleeping side by side now. They are so cute and cuddly!

glo said...

Hmmmm Our little buddies have spread their wings to fly more and more and farther and farther i'm afraid. AND on a Friday when cams are actually working they don't show up!!!! Well about to spend the evening with my kids. Will check in some time tomorrow. Everyone have a good evening and pleasant start to the weekend.

NillaWafer said...

Hey Gang, Checking in and just was reading the blogs,Ya'll do keep such good notes..lol It is really hot here in Martinsburg today which is about 15-20 minutes from NCTC. It is looking like a rain storm developing, hopefully to cool things off. Hold on next week going to be near 100.. OUCH i will be around looking at cams.

Just Vicky said...

Wow can't believe these "kids" gave us the "brush off" today!

NillaWafer said...

Gee Willickerzzz where everyone go??? Well we have an empty nest so i thought i send a little joke my daughter gave me.. goes like this... A Frog and A Loan Frog goes into the bank and goes to the teller... says i would like a loan for $30,000 for a trip... The teller named Patty Whacked looks at him in disbelief and asked what his name is.... The frog answers saying his name is Kermit Jagger, and his dad is Mick Jagger and he knows the bank manager personally...Patty explains he needs collateral to get the loan... The frog says ok i have this tiny porcelain elephant... Very confused, Patty tells him to wait while she speaks with the bank manager...Patty finds the manager and says "There is a frog called Kermit Jagger who claims to know you and wants aloan of $30,000 for a trip... All he has is this elephant... The bank manager says to her........ ITS A KNICKNACK,PATTY WHACK.GIVE THE FROG ALOAN..HIS OLD MAN IS A ROLLING STONE........... (YOUR SINGIN IT ARENT YOU???)NEVER TAKE LIFE TOO SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!!!

Just Vicky said...

Nilla, that was so CUTE!

Mema Jo said...

Yes, NILLA I was singing it!

How about: Where is Spunky?
Where is Spunky?

NillaWafer said...

Out in the middle of a field stands an Ole' Sycamore tree.. This where the Eagles Liberty & Belle share their life with me.. Belle laid 3 eggs and sat on them patiently.. til they hatched and brought joy to everyone of us.. We watched them grow and set though rain storms and began to flap their wings ... We knew they were practicing to let go.. So over the edge they did fly.. out into the open sky.. Liberty & Belle always by their side.. teaching the 3 what needs they had to learn.. Soon the day will come when they will not return.. We watch each day and night hoping to see "OUR" KIDS BIG BOY... INBETWEEN AND SPUNKY return just for one more glimpse of the kids we all call "OUR"own..

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Been out for a while. Sorry to hear nobody has been in the nest yet. Last night it was a little later than this so hopefully we will see somebody.

Nilla, I was singing it too. I am back ready to frap if I get the opportunity.

wvgal_dana said...

Nilla I love the poem. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
Happy thoughts, then some sad thoughts of them as you said not returning.
I know our babes that once were eggs, then fuzzy little balls, an in came some feathers, later a different kind of feather taking the others place. Then the fledge and now.
KIds were in the heck are you!!
Your suppose to be in at night!!
Oh well I had to get it out lol.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I am with you on that Vicky. Except to yell, you have to have all caps and bold!! LOL.

wvgal_dana said...

I had to go back and check on the Osprey sites I have:
Connecticut
Minnesota
Washington State still down
Long Island New York on this one it is neat has sound. I sent this to everyone on the momsters site just now. Love it the chicks make such a cute sound. You can even hear the wind blowing.
Empty nest still here 8:10pm

Man, I heard Hugo today...I don't know if he's getting worst or just getting older and suppose to sound like that!!
I don't know why so many of the cams are down today. The ones I checked that I know are still inhabited were all down - except cutie TaiShan. He is something else.
Well, like Sharon said, it was later last night when they came to the nest - just maybe!
NILLA I sure did like that poem. Thanks for sharing - I know it just came right out of that redhead-didn't it...?

wvgal_dana said...

Ok what I was saying did anyones feed go crazy with lines. Then a dark black thing like a bat or bird fly around then leave???

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

No Vicky, you must have been hallucinating.

Yes, the black thing did fly about. Saw a bug earlier today right on the camera lens. Might have been the same one coming back to visit. He might have known we needed to see somebody around! LOL.

wvgal_dana said...

Good an idea; who in the momsters group or on here is a "real good pitcher?
I give you a fish nice flounder filet out of the freezer. That person can throw it in the nest.
Wala eaglets will be in nest so we can watch.
Sound good???

Mema Jo said...

I never could throw straight - don't ask me to do it. And as for climbing up & dropping it in - won't do that either. LOL

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

We need somebody on an hang glider to go in with it so they will follow them in! Any takers on that?

wvgal_dana said...

Janet M. that does sound like a question that would be right up Birdgirls alley.
Ok mema Jo I go it "you no go".
The glider deal sounds real good. Have to check around but I think they would probably get in trouble or our eaglets would attack it lol.

Mema Jo said...

It's getting close to the same time that they cam last night 8:47pm or so.
DON'T TAKE YOUR EYES OFF OF THE NEST

NOT FOR A SECOND

wvgal_dana said...

Janet M. have you also wanted to jump out of an airplane with a parachute???
My husband would say, "now why would someone want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane that has nothing wrong with it"?
Gliding and balloning sounds great been in planes small and large, but don't know if I'd be scared until I was up there. Don't think it would be fast trip down unless they threw me over the side.

Mema Jo said...

ONE BIG BOY BIRD>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>YAHOO

START FRAPPING>>>>>>>>>>>

2 in the nest

wvgal_dana said...

8:40pm one flew in then second one flew in looks like Spunky and MsInBetween

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

8:39 P.M. TWO EAGLETS IN THE NEST!!

Mema Jo said...

One out of the nest Big Boy it was

wvgal_dana said...

8:41 one flew out of nest at the 2:30 position
One left in nest

wvgal_dana said...

Moved over to position sitting at launch pad. 8:42pm flew out from launch pad position.
Not staying long at all.

Mema Jo said...

That's our SPUNKY

There he goes. Quick sighting but worth every second !!!

wvgal_dana said...

8:43pm empty nest

Mema Jo said...

HEY THERE MOMSTERS

They didn't let us down - Good Kids!!

Mema Jo said...

That was your daily EAGLE FIX
It worked for me!

Didn't get any still pics - they were too fast & I was too excited in seeing them. Nothing for the Loop!

wvgal_dana said...

Probably if someone drove down there they would be sitting on limbs.

wvgal_dana said...

Janet M. bet your right mine was in the Marines.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

8:40 P.M. 1 eaglet in the nest.

Mema Jo said...

Janet M Sharon is the frapper on here & she probably captured their visit. I think yesterday that it may have been Vicky-IL who was frapping.

Sharon Were they too fast to frap? I guess they may come back to their sycamore each evening after their day's ventures. You know- There is no place like HOME

wvgal_dana said...

Well we certainly know one thing. Those white things in the nest are nothing to eat. We all know if it was they would have stayed and ate it.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Can't get the daggone frapper to work!! Wouldn't you just know it? I am still trying though. Probably have to restart the computer to get it to work and that wipes out the real player! ARGGHH!

Mema Jo said...

Sharon - Where in the nest do you see the eaglet?

wvgal_dana said...

Now that I think back on things. There was some times when daughter and a friend would come in the house "hi mom".
Very shortly "bye mom" and in and out thing just like we seen with the eaglets just awhile ago.
Hummmm kids will be kids......

wvgal_dana said...

This foggy nest is making me think.
Isn't it funny we've watched alot at night time and never that I can remember have I seen a firefly (lighting bug) up this high.
Anyone ever seen one on here at night???

Just Vicky said...

Ok, who has pics of this evening?? Share please???

wvgal_dana said...

vicky from il
It all happened too fast for me to get to the still pics so I didn't get any.
Don't know if Sharon frapped or not. Sounded like she had a problem. Will have to wait and hear from her.
SHARON CALLING SHARON

Mema Jo said...

I have never seen a firefly - they come up out of the grass at night it seems. I don't think they fly as high as the tree. Guess there isn't any grass under the tree - just bones & poop! Now as for spiders!! That's a different story.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Okay, I give up. No pictures, no video, no nothing but memories!!

Just Vicky said...

Oh no, possibly no pics!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Mema Jo, I bet there are turtle shells under there too! :)

Just Vicky said...

How do we put "memories" on the clips??? Hope someone can figure that out!

Just Vicky said...

Of course, I missed it ALL!

wvgal_dana said...

If it wouldn't be for the memories where would we be???
Sharon you got me humming the song "Memories" lol.

NillaWafer said...

The Eagles we love so much soon one day will not show up... Our hearts will ache and tears may flow.. But just think next year we all get to watch new babies grow..They maybe as cute as can be.. But in OUR hearts the love we have for BigBoy..Inbetween.. and Spunky ALWAYS will be!!!!!! So put a smile on your face and think of the good times we have had watching 3... They feel "OUR" Love NO MATTER where they choose to be... No matter what were watching the nest patiently..

wvgal_dana said...

Ok mema jo are you still on here??? If you are then it's not you shining that flashlight up there into the nest.
Anyone else see the flashlight ???

Mema Jo said...

I am still right here in the valley.. It is probably the largest firefly
you will ever see in your lifetime!

NillaWafer said...

Memories... like the corner of our minds always think back to that Ole' Sycamore tree...Remembering.. Ahhh but what sweet Memories

wvgal_dana said...

Mema Jo I hope your right lol. Truely does or did anyone else see the flashlight shining across the nest more than once. It moved around alot.??????

wvgal_dana said...

Old spidey is smart moved his web to around the large sycamore leaves up here. Catching himself some moths.

wvgal_dana said...

That is ok everyone that doesn't want to say they saw the "flash lights shining into the nest". I figured it out.
The eaglets are wearing "coal miner helmets with the light on top"...yeppers I sure is smart lol.

Anonymous said...

Hi all, Got back about an hour ago from my day out, got thru my e-mails and the blog. Great notes! Is there an eagle in the nest now. What is all that motion on the left side of the nest down below? Is the wind blowing that much? My husband and I took our 1st hot air ballon ride on our trip to Phoenix this past April, it was fantastic, can't wait to do it again.

Anonymous said...

Ok, I think something is caught in Spideys' nest and it is trying to get out.

paula eagleholic said...

Just got on and read the blog from today, glad ya'll got to see the 2 eaglets in the nest...

Just checked out the Long Island Osprey cam - it has a warning on the page that says -

Warning: The camera on this site provides an uncensored view of nature.

I had to laugh...would we want it any other way?

NillaWafer said...

Speaking of air balloons.. here in Martinsburg they are having a big hot air balloon celebration i think its on August 4th &5th at the air port.. Hot air balloons rides and planes from the air guard and food and from what i read in the paper a night show of balloons in the sky which is free... It is replacing the air show which they are not having because of all the construction at airport. Tickets are $5.00 in advance and $7.00 at the entrance. Something to think about attending..

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

The iridescent white stuff in the middle of the nest now looks like a smiley face with 1 eye open and 1 eye closed! I really wish the poor bug caught in Spidey's web would go ahead and die. I hate to see it suffer like that!

wvgal_dana said...

Hi Mits glad you checked in with us. The ferry ride was nice huh?
Paula when I went to that site yes it was funny "uncensored view of nature" lol. Boy that site is nice though with all the sound.

paula eagleholic said...

You're right, Sharon, it does...makes me think the kids made it for us!

paula eagleholic said...

Maybe they attended a "Fun with Sycamore Bark" class this week...

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Going to bed now. Have to work again tomorrow so hopefully the live feed will stay up and I can get Fraps to work. More will be revealed.

NillaWafer said...

I am thinking that maybe what is in the middle of the nest could be some kind of fungus growing??? Who knows from all the stuff thats been in the nest.. Doesnt look like mushrooms...lol

paula eagleholic said...

Look at the sticks at the 11:30-12 position in the nest, looks like hair sticking up on smiley's head

NillaWafer said...

Dont know but each time i check its spreading more and more, thats what makes me think its a fungus... OMG WE HAVE FUNGUS AMONGUST....lol

Anonymous said...

WESTVAGAL-VICKY, Did not take a ferry ride, only went as far as Lewes, Del, did not go to Cape May. Had a nice time. Up in Lewes they have 1 main street for shops, imagine my surprise when I turned the corner and don't you know they have taken down every single tree on that block in the name of progress and replaced the sidewalks with bricks. What was once a nice stroll down the block in the good ole summertime, turned into, ok, I've had enough, back in the car with the A/C. What a shame.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I just restarted my computer and of course Fraps is working now. So, hopefully tomorrow we will have action in the nest and I can save it.

It could be new bedding starting for next year's round of kids! LOL.

I sure do wish we would hear from Geula! I am worried about her.

NillaWafer said...

Has anyone else noticed the nest on Hornby Island seems to have collasped on 1 side?? I think they have fledged but return now and then.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Nilla, I hate when we have a fungus amongus!

Mits, Did I hear somewhere about a new grandbaby coming soon? Don't know if it was a rumor or true! :)

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Is Mema Jo lurking again?

Anonymous said...

NILLA, I think you are 100% right about the fungus, it gets in my garden sometimes if we have had a strecth of hot and humid weather and when you put the hose on it, it turns into a smokey dust. Flora-Girlwould probably know what it is...

Mema Jo said...

You may wish to say hello to HUGO before you turn in for the evening. He is standing tall in the nest..

Anonymous said...

Correctimondo, Sharon, someone will be having their 1st Granchild in 7 weeks, now let me see, who could it be?????? Why as I live and breathe, its MMMMMEEEEE!!!!!

Okay guys, I was just checking back through the blogs from this week and the last time we heard anything from Geula From Israel was Tuesday afternoon. Everybody pray that she is okay! I don't know where she lives in Israel, but it just gives me a yucky feeling with all the fighting going on over there. I know she told us before she was away from all the fighting but that was before all this other started happening!

Anonymous said...

GEULA IF YOU ARE OUT THERE, PLEASE LET US KNOW THAT YOU ARE OK, OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

Mema Jo said...

MITS Sorry I misled everyone about the ferry - Maybe you should have taken it - Cape May is a nice place to visit.
Sharon I have been lurking recently. Don't know why. I have also been thinking of Geula quite often since I am not certain where she lives in Israel. I am keeping her in my prayers. Seeing the eaglets this evening made my day. Memories are made of this! We need to get some of our ideas on the 'parking deck' over on the momsters
site so that next season we are on top of things.

paula eagleholic said...

I dont' think Mits is the least bit excited about that 1st grandchild on the way :):):)

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Oh, Mits is going to have a grandchild. Well, I didn't know!

Mema Jo said...

NILLA JUST A DITZY REDHEAD
I want to see the 'Chic"! LOL

Anonymous said...

No problem, JO, I have gone over several times, love going in the fall when it is all decked out in the fall decorations and the crowds have thinned out. I know GEULA has said she is far away from the action, but after the last few days, I am concerned for her.

Mema Jo said...

Are you sure MITS is going to be a grandma! Well, bless my soul! I bet she bought baby items on her trip today.. What ya want to bet?

Did you Mits?

NillaWafer said...

Listening to Hugo.. at first he didnt seem to enjoy his mothers pecking on his body but now he is sorta making baby sounds..lol Must be early AM over there.. Hope Ms. G is safe over there in her country..

paula eagleholic said...

BTW, don't worry about me, I'm pretty far away from the action (in Israel,
remember).

Have a grand afternoon, all
Geula!!

Geula sent this out in an email on Thursday!

Anonymous said...

Yes Sharon that is what I had wrote about in here when I read the paper this morning. I am worried about Geula too she is in my prayers.
About Hugo I listened to him yesterday and parents were gone for an hour. Hugo made no sounds at all; no sneezing no coughing nothing I believe cause he knew he was alone. When parent came back he started with the sounds again.
Mits that is ashame they took the trees down; remember like Sharon said "all we ever have are memories".
Mits is going to be a grandmother soon.

Paula Thank you for reminding us of that email. It was another puzzle - right?

What did you buy MITS
Are you going up to the outlets soon?
They have a Carters store I think - or there is one for sure out on RT 50. They have good sales.

Anonymous said...

Yep, just the memories of a beautiful tree-lined street in a small quiant town...

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Jo, you've got mail.

Mits, I would bet odds it is going to be a girl or a boy!

Mema Jo said...

NILLA a DITZY REDHEAD

We may all be in bed by the time you get home!

paula eagleholic said...

Ok, when we going to the tree... cough it up...Hope it's a Sunday (I work Saturdays)

Mema Jo said...

MITS You best believe Sharon She is always right - we call her Eagle-Eyed for a good reason.

I am going to check my mail.

Actually, what I bought was kind of neat. It was different pouches to go in the diaper bag, one for dirty items, one for clean items, snacks etc.. I can't wait to hit the stores when that baby is here. Isn't it strange, I have not met this little one and I love him/her so much and can't wait to have him/her in my arms.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

How come Hugo looks like he has a huge furball sticking out from his neck? I haven't seen that before.

Anonymous said...

Sharon, I'll take those odds, wish it could be one of each. Twins run in my daugther-in-laws family and mine, so maybe next time.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I have twin brothers. I am really grateful I didn't get blessed that way. One is plenty for me!

Does HUGO have a goiter???

paula eagleholic said...

Yes, Jo, It was an eaglet pic puzzle from July 11

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Okay, I am really going to bed this time. Takes me forever once I start the process. I said at 10:22 that I was going to bed. Now I am watching Hugo!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Mits, I bet it is a goiter. It is something, just don't know what. Live feed is really screwing up right now. I hope it is not getting ready to quit on us. I need it in the morning.

Anonymous said...

I'm right behind you SHARON Its bedtime for me. Take Care everyone, hope we hear from Geula tomorrow and the live cam stays up for the weekend and the kids come home. Good Night!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Good night, my friends of fine feathers!

paula eagleholic said...

Do storks have crops like eaglets? Might it be he just ate?

Mema Jo said...

That's not a goiter! It's a puff of feathers. If you look at his father's neck - Hugo will be just like him. I bet BirdGirl would tell you it's just the sign of a male stork. OK-Hugo is all alone in the nest. I don't think I'm staying up long enough to see mom fly in - but I did see it twice before. When she hits the nest it sounds like a 10 ton truck! First she brought new grass (big clump in her bill) & second trip she brought a large branch which took her almost 10 minutes to get it placed exactly where she wanted it. Anyway, I hope it isn't a goiter or any growth inside his throat. But maybe that's why he sounds so funny. Oh my, Not to worry.

Glad to hear 2 of the eagles made an appearance this evening, couldn't watch, had to work all day ,making bouquets for market tomorrow.Went by the tree Thursday evening, couldn't stay very long-didn't see any eagles.Going to try again-thinking the river is a good place to look for them now. Off to bed-early day tomorrow.

As dark settled in at the nest
In that special sycamore tree
There were always three eaglets
Snuggled along with MsInBetween
They were BigBoy and Spunky
Resting along side of her
Dreams of becoming eagles
Would swirl in their heads
Breakfast of turtles brought in
And Dinner of fish from the river
That flowed close by the tree
Once they fledged back at night
The three would always come to nest
Sleeping near each other to rest
As time went on; they learned more
It was longer times away from home
Now it gets dark around the nest
All three don't come home to rest
They've been stopping by at dark
To say hello then fast out they go
Our eaglets know we wait to see
That's why one or two stop by
To show us they know we wait to see
Yes they know we watch for them
Until time comes they won't show
Then all we'll have is the memories
Three eaglets and their parents
And that nest in the sycamore tree

7:38am I came in earlier just to see if anyone in nest. Then off I went to check on 2 stork sites; laughing here Hugo is getting his hair done. He is doing it to but Mom and her way of caring for him.
He sure is a cutie.
Blackwater went down 7/1/06 didn't see that before.
That opsrey site at Long Island New York is awesome!!! The one chick kept watching parent flying around (I seen parent) with food. That chick almost fledged lol had its neck turning every which way. Thought it was going to unscrew and fall off lol. But chick didn't take the bait this time. Sounds are so so great!! Could hear parent inticting chick.
Two eagles on Northwest Utitlies site look like they could fledge soon. That site also has a good osprey cam no sound though. Checked in at Washington State wasn't daylight yet.
Our "live feed" is up but needs one of Birdgirls pills same with "still pic".
Still we have an empty nest.
And that's what this non-roaming reporter lol has to say from around the world for eagles
and oprey.

8:08 a.m. Still an MT nest. But I am here just in case we get any activity. Hopefully Fraps will work for me today.

Good morning everybody in Eagleland!

While keeping our "live feed" up. I visited Sidney/Victoria nest. The male and the female are strutting their stuff. Flapping wings and moving out of nest to limbs. Then at 8:10am the female flew out of the nest off the right hand side. I don't know if this is her first fledge or not. I was laughing and them jumping around and flapping their wings thinking of our eaglets when they did that. Then off she flew. wow
Washington Osprey I checked is up daylight wasn't fully there yet they were snuggled in their nest.
I cry sometimes when I watch the eaglets (2) at British Columbia site think back on ours.

HAPPY SATURDAY MORNING, EVERYONE!!

Doesn't look like too much action "on-camera" this morning, and I've got to work a few hours this morning.

I want to thank you for the puzzles and the pictures...they're a lot of fun.

Talk to you later..........

8:34am here we have an empty nest.
I was still keeping a check on the boy eaglet at British Columbia. Parent kept flying around tempting the male eaglet (made me think of Spunky). He would move from the nest to a limb off to the left where you could hardly see him. It made you think the nest was empty. Then he was whiming and moved back into nest. Seen parent fly by again and 8:33 they have an empty nest cause off the male flew following the parent. If the eaglets hadn't fledged on that site before they have now. It's help me see what our eaglets were doing alot of the time. Leaving nest to "limb it" were we couldn't see them alot. With the action of jumping up and down on those limbs and flapping those wings. Yes I had "our live feed up all the time". Smiling with tears of joy and saddness.
Memories of what it use to be. I'm good as long as I got those memories. The site at B.C. just hit a "refresh button" in my brain.
Ah was so good.

9:11 a.m. MT nest still but I am reading and waiting, just in case. If the live feed stays up, that is. Looking really bad again.

HOW THE FEMALE EAGLE CHOOSES HER MATE
(As told by the Wintu Tribal Elders of California)

When it comes time for the female Eagle to choose her mate, she prepares herself for many suitors. And many come before her. She looks them over quite well and
then picks one to fly with for awhile.

If she likes the way he flies she finds a small stick, picks it up and flies high with it. At some point she will drop the stick to see if the male can catch it.

If he does, then she finds a larger stick and flies with it much higher this time. Each time the male catches the sticks, she continues to pick up larger and larger sticks.

When she finds the largest, haviest stick that she herself can carry, the stick is at this point almost the size of a small log! But she can still fly very high with this large stick.

At any time in this process, if the male fails to catch the stick, she flies away from him as her signal that the test is now over.

She begins her search all over again. And when she again finds a male she is interested in, she starts testing him in the exact same way.

And she will continue this "testing" until she finds
the male Eagle who can catch all the sticks. And when she does, she chooses him, and will mate with him for life.

One of the reasons for this test is that at some point they will build a nest together high up and will then have their Eaglettes.

When the babies begin to learn to fly, they sometimes fall instead. It is then that the male must catch his young. And he does!

The female Eagle and their Eaglettes have depended on him to be strong for them. Just as we Native women and children need to depend upon our Native men.

So what I would like to offer to you my friends is this.

Sisters, how well do you "test" your suitors before you allow them into your life?

And my Brothers, how well have you caught the "sticks" for your women and your children?

Whatever our past has been like, if we need to change, let's do so now together. Our children are counting on us to make these good choices for them and for their children.
