Monday July 10

The cam problem is in Denver. We have let them know.

Fresh thread.

Update 3:55 PM: Looks like the problem is centered around the camera and or the batteries. Our folks are working on it. Hang in there.

Good morning to all you eagle and eagle watchers that blog or that don't blog. It is a sunny morning here but this afternoon 30% thundershowers (yuck then).
The "still" yes is out of Denver but the "live feed" is out of NCTC.
Where is it at??
Well if it does come up we must give a big "thank you to Donna at NCTC" for taking a call again.
So check every now an again for the "live feed" to come on ok.

wvgal_dana said...

Still pic is up thank you Denver.
Now just talked with Brad we must yell GO BRAD GO BRAD he is going to run up the hall trying to catch John GO BRAD GO BRAD!! to get us the live feed.
I told Brad we on here would be yelling for him.

floralgirl said...

Are you sure cam is back up??my pic still has all those lines at the top.

Just Vicky said...

THANK YOU STEVEN!!!!!!

WE'RE TALKING DESPERATE MOMSTERS HERE!

wvgal_dana said...

Well so does mine floralgirl. By the way I love the pic by your name that really suits for you.
Hope Brad caught John so John can work on "live feed". Got knock out after they fixed it this morning; Brad said.
GO BRAD GO JOHN

They said at NCTC that "still" is working???

Mema Jo said...

Good mid-morning to all in Eagleland!
Floralgirl. Your blog pic is so refreshing & bright! Love It! I'm still looking for a photo to use.

I still don't like those lines on my live eagle cam. I'll believe it is fixed whenever I see one of our little guy fly in...

Jim Anxious to hear from you again so I can find the pics you posted. Did you place them in the loop on GLO's blog?

Yesterday's birthday bash for TaiShan was covered in our newspaper-The frozen cake was filled with apples, yams, carrots & fruit juices. I was wondering what he was chewing-thinking it was just a freezecicle.. Yummie!

Need to leave for 3 hrs. or so-Hope both cams are up & running when I return & keep your comments comming.

floralgirl said...

Well, I don't know-it looks like the same image we have been seeing uploading all weekend-there's a good breeze this morning here and those leaves haven't appeared to move at all.Hope you get the live feed up in case someone stops by the nest!! Must leave for a while-have to run essential errands like going to the grocery store.UGH!!

movin said...

Suzanne, you're not stupid.

My beautiful eagle, which was attached to an e-mail I sent to all momsters, was removed ... not sure why Yahoo has an attachment button unless it's for "text only" files.

Try again..........

Jim The yahoo site doesn't allow attachments on our emails. You could create an album under photos on the Eaglet_Momsters site.

paula eagleholic said...

Don't believe the still is working yet, no change in shadows, no sunshine, still lines across the top...hopefully they will fix it soon!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I don't have anything different on my pics either!

paula eagleholic said...

Jim,
You'll need to do as Jo states, load it to the momsters site, and I'll get it on there for you.

Yahoo doesn't allow attachments in group email, it is protection against viruses.

wvgal_dana said...

My "still pic that refreshes" to me is not working also. Like you say I will believe it is working when I see someone in there.
Jo you not leaving to go climb the tree to wave at us from the nest are you?
Well sure hope they get the "live feed at NCTC working".
Birdgirl are you ok there?

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

WV Vicky, maybe you could call themn back and let them know we ain't working!

movin said...

Paula,
I will be happy to do that ... send it directly to you, but I tried to get a photo album started and found I have none of the buttons necessary to do it. Is that a prerogative of those who started the group?

Jim

belle_wv said...

Anticipation.... I keep pressing buttons hoping the still cam or the action cam will rev up with new images...

WV Vicky - thanks for all your efforts to get them working again!

Floralgirl - is that a pic of YOUR flowers for sale at the farmer's market? I have never been to Shepherdstown on a weekend morning when the market was going.

Jim - hope you get those pics up and running for us

Sharon - welcome home, glad you had a good time, and happy to be home again, too. Best of both worlds.

To all of you working - hope it is a good day for you, even though it is a Monday.

BirdGal - enjoy the feeling of pudding! Just don't try to do anything more dangerous than blog here! Hope the meds do the trick in allowing your back to mend.

wvgal_dana said...

Well I'm going out for awhile. Hope those in Denver can get the "still pic working" and also maybe by then NCTC since they know about it will have the "live feed" working.
So welcome and have a good day to all in Eagleland may it even get BETTER
not going to tree mema jo

paula eagleholic said...

Jim's pic is now on the Momsters site.

paula eagleholic said...

I get all sorts of interesting pics when I refresh that eagle cam....Black and white, half pics,, (the dreaded) All Blue...wonder if that is kinda what Bird Girl is seeing this morn!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Bird Girl, I hope your back gets better really soon. Maybe you could go to a rehab (like physical therapy rehab - not drug rehab- LOL) run by birds to make you all better. Turn about is fair play!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I was just watching the Panda's (since I can't watch our eaglets! SIGH) Mei Xiang is in her slumber period and Tai Shan is outside climbing around. That is what I used to do too when my mommy would take a nap. Get out and explore the world!

belle_wv said...

Ok - I will do it... I'm going to go out for awhile - so I know as soon as I get out the door the cams will both be up and working fine - blog well and enjoy. I'm taking one for the team... y'all are worth it

movin said...

Yes, my eagle pic can be viewed in the "Photos" section of the momsters site...thanks, Paula.

Hey Gang, Imm backkkkkkkkk after a wonderful trip to upstate NY (20 miles from Montreal Canada) Had a great time with my brother and his family. Went to Lake Champlain( or how ever you spell it) and took alot of pictures as they were having a sail boat race. Beautiful area and the Anerondike Mountains (spellin again) took my breath away, did see some large birds soaring , and 2 small fawn with spots still standing along the road as we came home.. I think they were saying good bye and hurry back..LMAO I am sun burned after riding back with the top and sides and doors off the jeep..OUCH Ok how did you get those pics of the kids on your names??????? Missed ya'll but did get on up there and showed everyone the momster's and pictures. Hugss, Nilla PS Jo have you been a good girl??????? Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Where is Spunky? Where is Spunky? BOOHOO, SIGH!!

belle_wv said...

Did it work? I'm back, did the 30 sec cam come back at least? I hope...

belle_wv said...

30 second cam looks different but still don't think it is refreshing properly? Very colorful, for sure, though. No blogs of any action, sigh...

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I emailed NCTC but haven't heard anything back about the camera. I even sounded pretty pitiful in it too!

Mema Jo said...

Well, I am back & no one yet has gotten these cameras up & rolling?? What's a Momster to do?
I am laughing big time after reading all the comments you have made to Birdgirl! Sharon I think you meant to say about the rehab "Turn about is FOUL play - you know like birds...
Delphia-Birdgirl you get yourself in a safe place & stay there until you can stand up tall with no pain!!
NILLA I just knew you'd have to hold onto the roll bar in that jeep. Glad you're home safe & enjoyed your visit. How about all those deer along the roadside in NY?!
CarolThe circle around the WhiteHouse of wind turbines is one great idea! Keep them out of the hills.
Jim Going over to see that photo. Are you off work today???

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Jo, I did mean foul play! That was good!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Hey, Jo, can you make a miraculous phone call?

Mema Jo said...

Jim Being an army grandma, I certainly am impressed with the photo!
Sharon I can try anything once!

NILLAyou have mail concerning the profile photos - Birdgirl sent us instructions - she wasn't under the influence then, so you should be able to follow them. LOL

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I did the picture thing but it took me a little while to figure out. Slow sometimes but eventually I get it!

Mema Jo said...

I had to leave voice message for Steve Chase and then I did send an email. I just don't want them to think that it has been fixed with the clock ticking and the date recorded correctly.
We'll see.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Thanks Mema Jo!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Tai sure is giving his momma a good wallering today!

Mema Jo said...

Steve Thank you so much for the update - Knowing that you know what we know is very helpful on our nerves.

NOW LET'S ALL MARCH DOWN TO THE SYCAMORE TREE haha! Just kidding!

floralgirl said...

Back from the long grocery store trip-now I have to put the darn things all away. And later if I'm lucky I get to cook some of them for dinner!Yipee!seems like not much has changed with the cam, looks exactly like the same pic to me.Belle WV- that is a picture of peony bunches from one of my markets this May.Bird Girl explained how to post it,even I could figure it out from her instructions, and that's saying something.

Mema Jo said...

***Steve posted an update for everyone over on the home page in case you didn't know from where I got my information***

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Well, Mema Jo, didn't know where the update was but dug until I found it! Glad to know that they remember we are out here!! :) It was so much better when the camera froze while an Eaglet was in the nest instead of this nasty-looking picture!

belle_wv said...

Steven,

Thank you so much for your kind efforts. Has anyone spotted any of our fine flying friends anywhere about? If we can't see them on the cams, we'd love any "bird's eye"-witness reports? Maybe send Todd out to get some more pictures against the grey hazy skies? Not as pretty as the blue, but hey - we're desperate! Thanks

floralgirl said...

Yes,thanks Mema Jo, for pointing out the update. At least we know they also realize the picture is not really changing. We have missed so much time now with our eagles, really want to see them.Don't forget to pick me up on your way over to the sycamore tree! And I'll volunteer to help install the wind turbines around the White House and the Capitol so all that hot air down there doesn't go to waste!!!

Mema Jo said...

Floralgirl Since you don't sound too enthused about getting dinner and since you're probably the closest to the tree - get on over there & check things out!!! LOL

floralgirl said...

Yes, it's so frustrating to have that tree so close by,and not have aspare hour or two to go gaze at it. Oh, how I would love to, but now that the groceries are put away,I'm out to the yard to water some seedlings and do some planting. IThis evening is already slipping away. I may try to get over there tomorrow, fear I've already waited too long.

glo said...

Ok so what's with the cam and the pictures etc. First chance I had to check anything today and doesn't look real good. I don't know that I saw anything vrom Steve but guess I could have missed it or something. Will check back in later.

belle_wv said...

I just had to try this... my blog entries looked so bland. Hopefully now this shows with my favorite flower. This was a lot more fun than wading through research articles for my course work, too! I miss our eagles. There are summer storms popping up, going to check radar to see how the tree zone is in relation to the storms...

belle_wv said...

Yeah the picture thingie worked :)

Radar shows small cells popping up mostly south and east with a cell north a good ways... tree area clear for now :)

belle_wv said...

I just had a thought? Is that 'strange thing' that we were hoping was a Gorton's fish container a part of the camera or battery pack? No idea what they'd look like... I'm sure that isn't likely, but the silly idea popped into my head - Vicky - toss me a percocet and somme muscle relaxants and I'll quit thinkin... LOL

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I guess it is safe to assume that since it is 6:15 p.m., there will be no camera today. ARRGGHHH! I am out for a while. Blog with you guys later, my friends of fine feathers!

movin said...

Well...
If I followed Bird Girl's excellent instructions rightly, we should see a pic of an American Eagle next to my blog.

The only trouble I had was getting on the same page with her...I had no idea where my Blog Dashboard was, for example; but everything indicates we got it done, and I have added my Dashboard to my Favorites....

Let's see if it works. At least we'll have one eagle to look at.

Jim

wvgal_dana said...

Talked through email with Steve C.
they are really having a bad problem with the camera itself!
So send up lots and lots of prayers; they are tring to fix it.
Of course as you see the time 6:26pm you know we won't be seeing it today. Hopefully it will be fixed tomorrow. I did encourage overtime thanking the guys for staying and told Steve C. that he knew I was a joker on this end (which by now I am sure he knows it from talking on phone to me).
He told me to "hang in there". I told him I was "hanging upside down so please tell them to hurry it up alittle lol".
I do feel before they left today they did all they could to fix it for us.
Again I am asking for prayers for the camera at NCTC of course Denver has the still to fix.

P.S. Anyone going to the sycamore tree???

wvgal_dana said...

belle_wv is that a "lily of the valley" pic???

belle_wv said...

Thanks WVA VICKY! So good to have an update. I'm glad a few of you have 'inside contacts'! Yes on the Lily of the Valley :)... Got married by a huge 'pond' of them in bloom under maple trees and have transplanted some from there to my house. They are so pretty and smell so wonderful!

belle_wv said...

Jim,

That is one sharp lookin eagle! Thanks for making sure we at least have something to see in the feathered 'range' :)

movin said...

Hi again,
Looks like the eagle picture added successfully...you can click on the pics to see them full size, you probably know....

Yesterday, recalling what was said about Hummingbirds earlier, I took another look at some nests, and so forth (eagle cam was down, right?)

Anyway, I decided to put out my feeder again after several years layoff (long story). I put up an "illegal hanger-bracket," hoping to keep the feeder out of the sun on my balcony patio (failed, I see, but it should be in the shade soon as the sun moves southward), and I half filled the Perky Pet with my 'special, magical mixture from the past' and hung it.

Usually, in the past it has taken days or weeks for the little Hummers to find it, but the visible feed is already half gone today...it's in a bad place for viewing though, and I haven't seen any Hummers today.

I had reason to believe there were some of the little beauties living in a tree very close bye though, and it looks like there are.

I bet they think they died and went to heaven finding a feeder in this hot muggy weather we have been having.

Jim

movin said...

I really like your Lily of the Valley too, belle_wv, and in fact I like all the pics added so far...they are all beautiful, and they really brighten up the blog area.

If you go to www.protectpendleton.com it's a website devoted to fighting placement of wind turbines in Pendleton County,WV .Pretty interesting info on there.

floralgirl said...

Mema Jo-love your pic! Thanks so much to Bird Girl for walking us all thru the picture posting.Sure does make things more colorful on here. Now who wants to climb the sycamore and replace the cam battery?

movin said...

Should you become the slightest bit bored while the cams are down, I have made a new puzzle, which involves our eagles...it's on the momsters site...

Jim

Mema Jo said...

Belle wv I had the same thought about the mysterious object in the middle of the nest being connected to our problems with the camera.. I wonder if they have to climb the tree to fix the problem? We could have requested all the old turtle shells.

belle_wv said...

I agree about asking for the souveneers(sp) from the tree if they have to climb. I hope while they are up there the put another camera to give a different angles? Maybe one with sound? Hey I can dream, can't I?

belle_wv said...

I love Liberty and Belle - they're perfect! We're getting so computer smart! All the pretty pictures are so nice. I won'der what they'll do if we have a big long log day, though? Might take awhile to load if we get a couple hundred comments...

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

BOO HOO BOO HOO BOO HOO, SOB, SOB, DRIP DRIP, SNIFFLE SNIFFLE! Okay, can you feel me now?

movin said...

Hey, Everyone, I got an interesting piece of information on Bald Eagles...

I couldn't see the Eaglet on the Santa Cruz Island nest, so I e-mailed a Phd. to ask if they knew whether the young eagle had fledged yet. Found out he's still there...was perched on a branch of the tree to the right of the camera frame. Now, he's center stage eating his dinner.

Anyway, I asked this guy why the eaglet was over the 12 wk. fledging limit, and he said he thought it was because the little guy had not been fed for the first 3 days and had 'lost weight' instead of 'doubling or tripling his weight' in the early days...he's doing fine now (don't know why the delay getting started).

Then I asked him how eaglets, which are put into "hacker towers" to fledge [they have one from a Catalina nest, which broke its leg], get their early flight and fishing training; and here's what the Phd. told me:

"Adult eagles don't do much training of the young, it is mostly instinctive. For the first year or so, young bald eagles are scavengers and don't learn to catch fish until they are about a year old. They generally remain with their parents for only about a month after they start to fly, so they may see the adults fish, but that is probably about all the training they get. We have seen no difference in survival of eagles fostered into nests versus released from hacking towers over the past 25 years."

Interesting, but I know we've seen evidence of at least some training on the WV site.

Mema Jo said...

Was that you, Sharon??
You tear jerker you! Hey, I think BirdGirl is resting quietly now..at least I hope so! Back pains are definitley not anything I would even wish on my worst enemy - but I don't have any enemies.....
Wish we would hear from MITS soon.

Bird Girl said...

Hey everyone! Thought I'd pop in before I take my next dose of "Next Stop: Trippyland"....

I'm really pleased to see all the pics posted on all your entries! I hope that means I did a good job with the instructions. Jim -- you didn't understand what I meant by "Dashboard"? I had circled it on the screen shot -- did it not show up??

Floralgirl: I LOVE flowers. Don't get many here in the desert, although there is something to be said about sahuaro blossoms and prickly pear flowers! I love marigolds, irises, amaryllis, tulips, carnations, roses... I can grow marigolds here easily, irises and amaryllis if I use a little extra care. Roses do well for some people here but I don't have much luck.

My mom loves peonies -- she had some gorgeous bushes back in Denver (that's where I was born & raised). Even though there had to be red ants, it was nice to see the giant blooms and the dark green leaves. Wish they would grow here. Lilacs, too, would be nice. You can send me pictures of your flowers anytime!

Jim, what do you use for nectar in your hummer feeder? The best thing is to use pure cane or beet sugar and water, nothing else. In summer, change the nectar at least every other day, and wash the container when you change the nectar. Hummers are extremely sensitive to molds, which can grow easily in sugarwater.

The still cam is still not working... I'll try to pop in tomorrow...

Thanks, everyone, for your kind words. I am feeling a bit better, although I still have to take it easy. No lifting, pushing, or pulling for 2-3 weeks. Apparently, I tore some muscles on either side of my spine in the lower lumbar region, and i have a bulging disc which is causing acute sciatica. Joy. And guess what I was doing when this happened? All I did was bend over to pick up my mini-dauchshund. All six pounds of her. Heard a loud POP! and couldn't stand up. Oh, the agony... but I have good meds now :-)

Anyway, talk to everyone soon!

floralgirl said...

Bird Girl-glad to hear you are doing okay-back injuries are so painful.I've taken percoset before and it makes me really loopy, all you can do is sleep and lay around.I will definitely share some more flower pics with you at some point.I was checking out your nest watchers blog page and it is really great, lots of interesting stuff on it.

Bird Girl said...

thanks Floralgirl for the nice comments! i try to keep Nest Watchers entertaining for all :-)

When I was at the ER early Saturday morning (I thought I had herniated a disc), they gave me Demerol -- that makes me completely loopy and sleepy, Percocet not quite so bad except I get the shakes. It's weird, like I'm "floating" around... But my back is still painful and I want it to heal properly, so I'll take the meds...

Jim, what's your email address?

floralgirl said...

Well-I am waiting for my husband to finally arrive home from work-he had a huge job that had to be done today and he is sooo late ,I can't sleep til I know he's home-that would explain why I am still awake at this hour. I finally had a chance to look at the Hornby eagle site,so sad and yet so beautiful to see the bird's devotion to their eggs and each other. Many of the images brought tears to my eyes.We are lucky that our eagles are healthy and thriving. Hope the cam can be fixed soon so we might catch a few last glimpses of the eaglets before they stop visiting the nest.

movin said...

Bird Girl,
I'm glad you are feeling better also. It's usually the dachshunds that have the back problems, but I love their expressive little faces and personalities ... might get one if I retire. You might want to look into the "bent knees and center the load" method of lifting now.

As for the adding pictures to the blog, it wasn't so much that I didn't understand what you meant by dashboard (although I didn't particularly), but that I didn't know where it was...this is the first blog I've signed up for, and I just stumbled through the process and forgot it.

Anyway, I found "dashboard" through "Edit Profile" and then I could follow your directions without much problem...thank you.

Flowers...Believe it or not I also like flowers and the varied colors they provide. And it is also pretty dry in So. Cal., so I tend to grow stuff that flowers a lot but doesn't require a lot of care...Geraniums of many varieties and colors, Bouganvillia, and other low water consuming things. I tried some roses and Hybiscus, but mites or molds always got to them.

My e-mail address: jp99seek@aol.com
What have you got going?

Everybody have a good day tomorrow.

Jim

I have faith it will be fixed soon!

wvgal_dana said...

Steve and all at NCTC you know I am still hanging up-side-down so I am SURE you all are working hard and fast. I am getting dizzy lol.
Thank you for the hard work you all are doing. Give eagle-eyed sharon "That EASY button" so she can fix it lol
Thank you Birdgirl I worked on info. you gave to bring pic up. I will see what happens at this posting. Hoping size is going to be ok.
All out there in Eagleland. Have you seen our Eaglets and parents Liberty and Belle??? I haven't (sad face).
I like you all am in desperate need of an "Eagle Fix"I did check at drug store they don't have a pill or nothing for an"Eagle Fix"They were smart enough to tell me to call NCTC. I thought wow good Pharmacy guy smart even.
So I wait like everyone else does.
Sharon, MemaJo, anyone do you think John, Steve W. or Steve C. needs our help? lol

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

So WV Gal Vicky, did you follow the advice and call NCTC?

wvgal_dana said...

No Sharon I did not due to the fact that Steve C. emailed me yesterday. He said we just have to hang in there they are working hard to fix it. Both of them the "still" and "live feed". So I figured I should wait like everyone else but it's killing me....
Doesn't Birdgirl give good instructions on putting up a pic by our comments?
I did the Cardinals because they are West Virginia's state bird.
Didn't do the old "out house" kept it nice lol.

belle_wv said...

I was so hopefull that everything would be working today. I'm feeling a trip to the tree coming on soon if the cams don't come up... Todd can you take a pic or two today? Does anyone at the Center have any news of the family's activities? If so, please share!

WV Vicky -I love the cardinals! I'm still LOLing about the pharmacist!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Vicky (WV) I have several cardinals come to my feeders and have even been having a scraggly looking baby coming too. LOVE Them. I think my favorite is the rufous-sided towhee though. I have had the mommy, daddy and 2 babies coming!

paula eagleholic said...

I have cardinals at my feeders too. Plus Robins, chickadees, sparrows and lord knows what else. Had 2 Robins reuse the same nest. And now have some sort of sparrow or chickadee that built a nest in a hanging plant on my front porch. There are 3 babies in there, they are so cute!

floralgirl said...

In for a Gatorade break-it's hot outside today!! I really like all the pics everyone has by their names now, thanks again Bird Girl!I have so many cardinals in my yard-we were looking at a baby this morning, they are rough looking when they are real young-very unkept if you will.I have had towhees in my yard before-this is the first year we have had a male and female stay since winter and eat at our feeders-they seem to hang out in the woods a lot though, always exciting to catch a glimpse of them.If I had the technology and the moola-I'd put a hummingbird feeder cam up,there is a major battle for the feeders going on out there!!Never a dull moment with the hummers!

wvgal_dana said...

Thank you about the pic. I had also decided on the cardinals since they were my Dad's favorite; although in scouting (yes his daughters too) he taught and showed us alot of beautiful birds. With his passing left a "void". So whenever I see a cardinal I think of him.
I like hawks alot too. When I lived in Baltimore and made the trip home to W.Va. I would see how many hawks I could count to pass the ride time. Now I'm always watching for them have my husband doing it too. lol
But like I said the cardinals won out over the outdoor "outhouse".
Use to have this wooden picture on top of toilet showed an outhouse said; "this outhouse sure did cost alot of dough please pay as you go". Yap I did. lol

WV GAl, whole family of bird watchers here, too. We have so many bird feeders in the yard it's a major event to fill them all.cardinals, chickadees, all the woodpeckers, flickers, wild turkeys,timouse,dove,etc...We have quite a few "pets" we feed daily.Whenever we're getting in the car to go somewhere we always grab a pair of binoculars "just in case" My husband has sometimes seen bald eagles fly over his van when he's been going to and from jobs.

Good mournful Tuesday morning. I am really late today. If the humidity weren't so bad, I'd take a trip to the tree...I guess I don't have the patience that an eaglet does.
wvgal Vicky Love your cardinals
Sharon You're going to get alot of work done today with no distractions..BooHoo
Belle wv How far are you from the tree?
FloralgirlYou sure had a late night..Know what you mean about not getting to sleep until all birds are in the nest..........BIRDS IN THE NEST I have a one tract mind....
Jim-BirdGirl Loved Jim's reminder to you that back problems are for dachshunds! Bend those knees!
I need to find an Eagle Fix

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Jo, still can't get work done for clicking on play and refresh!

belle_wv said...

LOL Sharon - I hear you on the interruption of work to 'check and try'hoping the cams are working. I've done it so many times even a penny a click would net a nice sum.

Jo - I'm about half an hour or so from THE TREE. I'm very tempted, but I have a huge amount of literature I have to review and write up for this phase of my project. I am such a procrastinator. Maybe I'll get some work done, but first I think I will check the mailbox... LOL

Also, I want to buy a better set of binoculars before I go back to the tree. I have a very old set - big and heavy and they didn't magnify so well, apparently. Compared with what y'all that visited previously were saying you could see with your binoculars, I'm thinking mine are pretty outdated and semi-useless for what I want to see. I want to SEE the eagles, not just the shape... any suggestions on brand/model/magnification/where to buy?

Someone here at work just told me that the birds nesting on my front porch are purple finches.

Belle wv Procrastinator is my middle name also. Even in retirement I hold true to it. Binoculars: Bushnell is a good brand-USA.What I like most is a small lever you use for insta-focusing. They're lightweight-daughter gave them to us as a gift so I don't know expense. There is a 2 yr warranty on them.My older pair were quite antique & made my arms tired using them. Go on line & see what they have. I am also about 1/2 hr from the tree. Tempting.....

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Jo, here is my suggestion. Head that way, take a cell phone with you. You can call me, tell me what you see, I will transcribe what you dictate on the blogger and then we will all know what is happening as it is happening. Hey, it is just an idea! :)

Been watching the pandas this morning. (Oh how I wish I could watch eaglets). Anyway, Tai Shan is using his mommy's butt as a pillow and it is slumber time!

Wow-it is soo HOT outside-in for more Gatorade and a sandwich.Carol- I found that website by accident ,it has so much information on the subject of these turbines.I am so pro enviroment and I always thought these wind turbines sounded like a good idea until a few years ago when I started reading about all the problems that come with them..Does seem to be another example of the rich getting richer at the expense of everyone else and the environment.
