Thanks for new thread Steve Wanda Box Turtles, Most of what was shared while they retrieved those young that day I shared on Glo's Glimpses. Pretty much I think it comes down to human needs versus wildlife needs and finding that balance. They too are losing their land areas where they can safely lay eggs hatch them out and suvive etc. They have natural predators like the raccoons I mentioned. Water conditions in our rivers effect not just fish as we saw this winter with our eagles but also other animals that use the waterways such as these turtles and the health of their eggs and shells. Ground temperatures during winter effect the survival of the eggs that are laid and of course there is the cars that travel the same roads that turtles are crossing. I did see many turtle crossing signs in the wildlife refuge I was on but never stopped to take photo of the sign as I was following the folks who were heading to the nests.
Wanda - I can't believe all the problems you are having viewing the nest! I'm not having any on my windows7...do you know how much ram you have? Ask the guy! I have 4 gigs of ram.
Congratulations to Mattie. May her talent continue to bring success at the State competition.
I don't seem to have much trouble with the live feed. Just have to wait and click a few times.
Shirley, it is regrettable but what you described is, too often, what I am coping with. Did you know that Sigmund Freud attributed anal-retentive behavior to having a Type A personality? Just learned that yesterday reading a paper.
Did see lovely view of three babies at NBG being fed. So pretty in the sunshine.
Good morning! Laura I was just about to tell Paula the woodpecker, you beat me to it! That little bird is always on our suet!
Great article, Paula, on the eagles. I know and feel his excitment about having a nest. Cool!
Just getting on to check on Belle and Lib. Going to read the paper now while watching the nest. I'll be back after church. Teaching Children's Church this morning.
Oh, forgot to mention. After dark last night it started snowing and lasted for a couple of hours. It was very fine snow and this morning, all roof tops are white! But, the sun is shining.
Paula, I think we're going to get the kayaks out of storage today, but not on the river today. I drove down to the river at Shepherdstown last Sunday while it was flooding, and it was scarey! I think we'll wait another week or two for the water level to drop some more. It's at about 8' now, and we're used to 2-3 feet in that area.
And, Judie, the ones you get are the ones who graduate high school and get admitted to college. I think mine will graduate, but I don't think they will get into a selective college.
Of course, it is always possible they will grow up and surprise me. Sometimes that happens. I do have some outstanding students. I have to say that.
I have been here for a while but I forgot that I didn't say Hello! I just watched Belle do a very long egg roll and fluff digging. Can't be much longer.
Well I read Lily continues to create excitement at her cam. Do you suppose she enjoys being in the spotlight. I thikn perhaps the good doc may as well just set up camp out there.
Meanwhile back at the nest we have a very busy and fidgety eagle trying to get everything just right around that egg and nestwell area. I am off to church and anxious to see the nest happenings when I get home.
Hope was really serious in calling out for her mom.... She is an adorable little cub.... Now she is happy and content with Lily coming back but I think she is still telling her mom Don't leave me again!
We have one restless eagle on our egg cup. I sure hope Little Palmer is talking in that egg. Can't wait to see a half shell get on top of all that fluff!
Good Morning Everyone! Have a great day! I'll never watch Live---installed Flash 3 more times & made it worse. Have IE7---afraid to change & maybe not know how to maneuver. It was great until a month ago-Duh. Freezes whole 'puter & eventually knocks everything offline. Gonna check Lily.....
Paula, thanks for calling our attention to Lily. Love my laptop. Took it to the bathroom while I got ready for church. lol That was very interesting watching. Gotta go now!
Paula, Thx. No haven't tried another browser. Thought I might email Outdoor. Just saw our big bird standing next to bowl. Thought I could see egg w/some fluff on it.
I received an email from Dana yesterday and the acquaintance, Louise, that she had gone to visit in the hospital did pass on the day after her visit. I feel that there are times we are doing His works with our daily kindnesses.
A very very dear Momster, Deb Palmer passed on this year due to cancer. We promised ourselve to never forget her and honor her with our eaglet being named Little Palmer. Deb was an avid photographer of all kinds of wildlife - We love her beyond words.
Hello ladies. I have been watching eachg day from afar and now am wondering if our eagle is watching a happening in the nest. She seems very fidgety today.
Candy - I meant to email you personally because I doubt you saw me post news about my Germany Gang being assigned to Ft Bragg NC near the end of the year! Whoo Hoo! I'll be headed down your way!
I'd hate for anyone to miss all the eggcitement - but I read some people are having computer problems - just want to mention I'm having good luck with google chrome for the live feed, so if you haven't tried that yet you might want to give it a go
Jo, I missed your post, but that is good news. I would love to see you down there, if it were possible Nice to hear that they are finally talking of him coming back to the states, at leasJosh i Josh is supposed to be going to benning sometime near the summer for OCS, and hopefully will be ab oe to come back to Bragg.
Has there been anything said about the possibility of restoring sound? Wonder if that can only be done by going up to the nest, in which case I know they won't fix it this season, but if it can be fixed remotely, does anybody know if someone is going to try to do that?
Wiggle wiggle is what they do to work the egg into the proper spot under their feathers--I believe someone called it the brood patch. She wouldn't do that if the egg is hatching.
Jo, I went out and bought several pairs of nice pajamas because I like to spend my days off in them. I do have on jeans right now, but I have spent many days in pj's over the past few months.
Netbook is NOT being terribly cooperative......I keep getting booted off the internet.....IT apparently doesn't want so many things open. But PC is fine!!!
Good Afternoon everyone. I just wanted to post about troubles viewing the cam. Myself and quite a few others I know have all had problems. Back around the time of the snowstorm maybe ppl had virus attacks when attempting to connect to the cam. Some were using IE, some FF. Same problems on both. It has now gotten better but not much. When I try to watch it slows my computer down immensely...and thats when I can even get connected. I liked it better when it wasn't on the Outdoor Channel. I truly believe there's something wrong with their website. But, such as it is, I continue to try and watch and I am very much hoping and praying this egg hatches!
Took me forever to get the cam up, but kept trying. I finally succeeded and it is up and running smoothly.
Congratulations to Mattie! Well done! Sure wish I could see this project that is getting all the rewards! It is something to be very proud of! Know the family is very proud of you!☺
Jack is leaving me today. He is headed to Houston for plane tests at NASA. He will probably be gone all week. I will have more time to spend on the cam. hee hee
The Outdoor Channel is who pays for this camera so without them, no cam. There are problems at times for everybody but at this point it is what it is. Right now my cam is running pretty smooth and not stopping and starting. Hoping there is a baby on its way. She keeps digging fluff out of the egg well, hopefully making room for Palmer.
YES what Sharon said. It is what it is and is better than nothing.Hoping we can enjoy some of the happenings over the next few hours/days. Sad and sorry for those who can't watch live so pull up that still cam. Thats all we ever had the first few weeks of season one and we remained in heaven with just that feed available.
Saw on TV a children's hospital was using zoo cam (possibly San Diego zoo) to distract kids from their ordeals. When I think how watching this has obliterated any thoughts about minor aches & pains, and how I was considering going in to work because of stress (we're all behind on extra paperwork they gave us this month) ... I think live webcams in healthcare may be an idea whose time has come!
Cleaning out temporary internet files is something on a daily basis also helps a lot with live feeds, either manually or with a free tool like ccleaner.
Well, didn't think my post would be taken so harshly. Shows how words can be taken the wrong way - probably why I don't post on this blog.
I will clarify. I too am thankful to have the cam in whatever form it comes, hence the Outdoor Channel. This is new this year having them host the cam. My point is, technically speaking, I think THEY, the Outdoor Channel, need to look into the security of their own website. Not trying to bash them - I just think they have a problem. I was simply curious if others had the same problem with virus attacks. Just trying to ask a valid question.
I am sorry you are having problems. I hope they can be fixed. Some of us have had odd problems from time to time, but if there is a virus, the Outdoor Channel people should definitely know. Who knows? Maybe there is something going on that needs to be fixed.
Been out & about & gotta do some more. Just remembered I got 2 of the similar, but different woodpecker pics at the end of Jan. My daughter is always trying to ID them in her yard. On the Blogspot--
I didn't take the post offensively. I just was trying to encourage folks to enjoy the still cam if all they can get as I think our nest is worth watching however you can today. I have my times when live feed doesn't work or herky jerks too. Its frustrating but I just turn it off and turn on still Yep my computer freezes totally eventually and i have to restart everything. I have just accepted taking the NCTC cam however it is on a day to day basis. I really don't expect to much consistently from the cam now.
PattiO - have not had any issue with virus attacks.
Please don't feel those attacks are directed at you. As many ups and downs we have had with this live feed over the past 5 season, I guess most of us have come to accept the access that we have, and we are grateful to be able to view Lib and Belle thru the live feed, whether the feed is good or bad!
Just walked in, a slice of cake was calling me...but I don't have any:( Hope the hatch is later, too nice now for me to stay inside. Live feed is working ok here now, for the moment.
Well, this cake has chocolate and coffee and some kind of creamy stuff. It was served at our bridge game on Wednesday and I could not eat all of mine, so I asked if I could have a doggy bag. It is so rich that I had to be in just the right mood to enjoy it. Yum. Perfect with a cup of tea.
Not yet, Jim. I did get a pic when she was off the nest. It shows an egg and maybe cracks or maybe something in front of it. I have not been able to post it yet.

Check out this article on a new nest in WV...
Southern WV Eagles
Thanks Mits. Thanks Steve.
Had a cool little birdie checking out my suet feeder this morning. Can anyone ID it? I'm terrible at ID'ing birds.
http://paulasprints.blogspot.com/
Lib just arrived with more fluff!
Belle on the way out
Cannot see the egg for all the fluff they have been bringing in...oh there it is, just a peek while being rolled...wiggle wiggle
I had said I have the live feed fine. But I have no sound.
Doesn't seem to be herky-jerky now. I had that last night, though. Odd.
Thanks for new thread Steve

Lib can't get comfy...keeps adjusting...maybe Belle has that bowl too big for him, LOL
Paula eagleholic. that bird at your feeder is the female hairy woodpecker.
Is today the big day? Finger crossed that a new fluff-ball will be entering the world soon.
The male looks the same except for some red on it's head.
Belle back!
Thank you, Laura! I knew it was some type of woodpecker...
Lib outta there!
Good morning.
Hope has been active this morning also.
Coffee and finishing the newspaper. BBL
I have no sound this morning either. And most of the time i get the twirling arrow. Did get the live picture today but no sound.
Hi Sunny! Nice enough to go kayaking today!
Good morning! Laura I was just about to tell Paula the woodpecker, you beat me to it! That little bird is always on our suet!
Great article, Paula, on the eagles. I know and feel his excitment about having a nest. Cool!

So is Laurel laughing at you now, Lolly?

Monacrh Butterflies
I put a link to Monarch Watch on the other thread. If you want to read about the winter hardships for monarchs in Mexico, see their blog.
And, Judie, the ones you get are the ones who graduate high school and get admitted to college. I think mine will graduate, but I don't think they will get into a selective college.
Of course, it is always possible they will grow up and surprise me. Sometimes that happens. I do have some outstanding students. I have to say that.
I don't mean that none of mine will get into selective colleges. I am talking about the two I described earlier.
I do have kids who will go on to good colleges. I am not complaining about all of them.
I haven't been watching Lily this morning, but just saw this on FB
Lynn Rogers is heading for the den in hopes of 'saving' the microphone! -- SM
LOL, it's laying in the den! Hope is alone..
You can still hear!
Aw, Hope is calling for Momma!
Nugz is getting upset over the bear crying!
Lily is back
Lots to hear, too!
She is pulling the bedding in and is pushing the microphone out!
How did the microphone get into the den?
It just rolled back in! sortof
At least she is not lying on it. Anyway, she isn't lying on it right now.
I don't know how it got there...it's that plastic pipe you can see...it's still working!
Guess it would not be very comfortable to lie on.
They are there!!
Yes. A pretty big microphone.
I hear Dr. Rogers.
Lily cam out!
Just dragged out the mike
They got there at the right time!
Hope is being very quiet,
Mama is right there still
Hope is so cute. A little teddy bear.
I have been here for a while but I forgot that I didn't say Hello!
I just watched Belle do a very long egg roll and fluff digging.
Can't be much longer.
My live feed minus the sound is doing very well this am.
Hope is ready for a nap! Keeps yawning.
I'll bet Dr. Rogers would like to pick Hope up, but I don't think that would be smart.
Dr Rogers is still there
Well I read Lily continues to create excitement at her cam.
Lily is still right there
Hope starting to complain now.
The bear whisperer. I guess the squealing is coming from Hope.
Watching Lily and Hope with you all. I hope all goes well
Little Hope is really fussing
Certainly the bear whisperer! Lily back in the den now, think Hope is gonna nurse, I hear that purring.
Hope was really serious in calling out for her mom.... She is an adorable little cub.... Now she is happy and content with Lily coming back but I think she is still telling her mom
Don't leave me again!
Awww, all is well, Hope purring a mile a minute!
Congratulations to Mattie on placing FIRST at the Social Studies Fair yesterday. Headed for State competition now! Really proud of you gal!
We have one restless eagle on our egg cup. I sure hope Little Palmer is talking in that egg.
Can't wait to see a half shell get on top of all that fluff!
Thanks, Jo, I want to add my congrats to Mattie too!

Gonna check Lily.....
chugga chugga, those tiny bear paws are so cute!
Belle very alert and watching...couple of calls.
Lowreeda, sorry you are having so many problems! Have you tried firefox?
think Lily is searching for nuts or grapes, lol
Must get food.
Paula, thanks for calling our attention to Lily. Love my laptop.
Took it to the bathroom while I got ready for church. lol That was very interesting watching. Gotta go now!
BBL
Great article on Southern WV eagles, Paula, thanks.
If you click on the pic of the eagle flying, there are a bunch of pics with that article!
Paula, Thx. No haven't tried another browser. Thought I might email Outdoor.
Just saw our big bird standing next to bowl. Thought I could see egg w/some fluff on it.
Hey Sharon, that park doesn't look too far from Bedford.
Yes, read the good news late last night~~~Congrats to Mattie!!!!Good for her!!
I received an email from Dana yesterday and the acquaintance, Louise, that she had gone to visit in the hospital did pass on the day after her visit. I feel that there are times we are doing His works with our daily kindnesses.
Street clothes and lunch time.......
BBILW
Wish I could hear, but picture only, no sound - seems this egg check is coming just minutes after another one, so maybe something is going on...
You mean Bluefield, Paula? Not very far at all, may 40 minutes or so.
Lot of attention from Belle to the egg cup.......
She settled down and then jumped right back up.....
Yes, Kickngbird Just maybe there is something going on !!! Come on Little Palmer......
Heart is racing now! I so pray we got a baby coming! PALMER, DO YOU HEAR US? WE LOVE YOU!
Something surely is going on
Such antsy behavior from Belle
If only Liberty would bring in a big big fish - then we would know for sure....
I can go full screen but can't zoom into the egg cup - anyway there is too much fluff....
I don't read the blog word for word so I missed how the name "Palmer" came about - can you fill me in Mema Jo?
I see Eagle-Eyed Sharon is here too; maybe you can tell me!
We decided that our first hatch would be named Palmer after our fellow eaglet momster, Deb Palmer, who we lost last year.
Even though she's back down, she's definitely "antsy"
That's a nice tribute.
A very very dear Momster, Deb Palmer passed on this year due to cancer. We promised ourselve to never forget her and honor her with our eaglet being named Little Palmer.
Deb was an avid photographer of all kinds of wildlife - We love her beyond words.
Palmer is a gender-neutral name so that's a wonderful choice.
The picture of Liberty and Belle on our Home page of this blog was taken by Deb the year she came in from SD in 2008 for the Open House at NCTC
Good Afternoon Jo, Sharon, KBird and all...
Beautiful day for an eaglet. Come on Palmer, we are waiting! ☺
I think Palmer is coming!!
She's staring!
Hello ladies. I have been watching eachg day from afar and now am wondering if our eagle is watching a happening in the nest. She seems very fidgety today.
Oh and Congrats to Mattie! Way to go girl.
I was sos touched when I read that you were naming the baby to b e Palmer. Suck a fitting name and tribute to our Deb.
Helle everyone
Maybe just maybe....
It just bet it's time......
I hope
I hope
I hope.......
Candy - I meant to email you personally because I doubt you saw me post news about my Germany Gang being assigned to Ft Bragg NC near the end of the year! Whoo Hoo! I'll be headed down your way!
Now you know that there just has to be a very good reason for Belle to be up again with her head down in that egg cup!
Just got back. I do hope this is it!
Welcome back Shirley
With all this fluff we'll never know until we see a feeding.....
I'd hate for anyone to miss all the eggcitement - but I read some people are having computer problems - just want to mention I'm having good luck with google chrome for the live feed, so if you haven't tried that yet you might want to give it a go
My pic is herky-jerky again.
She has been off the cup for awhile. Blocking any view we might have.
Hi everyone -
Is this typical birth-day behavior for her to be on and off the nest?
It seems like she might me giving room for Palmer to break out. Wouldn't that be wonderful??!?!
But I am not complaining . . . she deserves the best view! Too close to call it a "bird's eye view," I suppose.
Good Afternoon in Eagleland To EVERYONE.
I read the other thread. Need to rest eyes and put drops in before I read this one.
I did catch two things over on other thread:
Where can I find EENet w-t eagle cam?
WAY TO GO THERE MATTIE GAL !!! ON TO THE STATE yea!!
I do also think my computer worked better with McAfee than this Norton.
It is as though Belle is hovering over the egg cup and hasn't really done the wiggle wiggle we are use to seeing.
Has there been anything said about the possibility of restoring sound? Wonder if that can only be done by going up to the nest, in which case I know they won't fix it this season, but if it can be fixed remotely, does anybody know if someone is going to try to do that?
It is really around 68° at the nest
What is the wiggle wiggle?
Outdoor told Paula that the sound problem was at NCTC... Hopefully they'll just need to Push a Button tomorrow as they have been notified.
It is the term we use when the adult rolls the eggs in the egg well and then very carefully settles down on them with the 'wiggle wiggle' motion.
Wiggle wiggle is what they do to work the egg into the proper spot under their feathers--I believe someone called it the brood patch. She wouldn't do that if the egg is hatching.
Look at that eagle; blocking our view with her wing
Good afternoon! I am still catching up onblog, but wanted to let you know that I now have DSL!!! And my cam has been running for 10 minutes!!!
Yay, Lynn. No more time in the penalty box!
We've got our fingers crossed here, Lynn. Maybe this is it.
Whoo Hoo Lynn! Welcome to DSL!
Lynn - Belle is really acting as though she has a little secret down in that egg cup!
Something is surely happening. Like Jo said, she isn't hunkering down anymore and seems to be ever looking.Come on Palmer!
Yay, Lynn!
Yes, Lori, Eaglet parents are up down up down when the time gets near!
Fresh snow at Finland and either still coming down or foggy when I looked a little while ago. Should be just about dark now.
Congrats to Mattie Jane!!! Good luck at State!
Once the eaglet breaks thru the sac and access the air hole in the egg, the adult can hear them chirping!
Of course, I come in and all is quiet, LOL
Yes, Sharon, I meant Bluefield!
Hard to keep up where the heck you are, Sharon.
Is Bluefield in VA and WV?
It's something else the way Liberty and Belle have trained us Momsters/Dadster to sit and watch quietly and patiently....... lol
Looking again...I am getting the herky jerky now too...probably lots of folks watching!
I know it is Paula. Sometimes I forget where I am.
Bring on the Fish, Lib!
Tenting, now...eagle probably warm!
Lib would bring a big fish to feed the baby???
Shirley the eaglet can first eat or be fed the egg whites... they are nutritional
Thanks, Jo, interesting . . .
BW Eaglets are really getting dark feathered and fuzzy looking!
Nap time at NBG
MN Bound momma owl still incubating her 2 eggs.. I saw them last night when she took a break.
Dana, here's the link to the EE Net page:
EENet
Belle is looking very fluffed out---guess she is hot!!!
Dana, so sorry that your friend passed. Good that you made the trip and could spend some time with her.
Well that was def a wiggle wiggle
Jo, there are no egg whites to eat. The chick absorbs the rest of the yolk before hatching, and therefore doesn't need to eat for a day or so.
So, Lynn, how many cams do you have up? :)
Egg still there...
Really neat article about the southern nest, Paula!!! Interesting info I hadn't heard....like the sticks!!!
Paula thanks for setting me straight on the eaglet's eating habit at birth.
3 right now, Paula!!!
Nature's tree trimmers :)
I ate lunch but never made it to the street clothes
BBILW
LOL, go for 6, Lynn!
Headed back outside...
BTW-----the show LIFE tonight is 2 episodes, back to back!!
That did not look like an intact egg to me.
Sudden jump up off the eggcup area. Now back over nestbowl
Is the Lily cam down completely????? I just keep getting an Internet Cannot Display message on BOTH puters!
either rolled an egg towards themself or moved a shell Can't see well enough to know much for sure
Good Afternoon everyone. I just wanted to post about troubles viewing the cam. Myself and quite a few others I know have all had problems. Hi all! Have returned from church and got cam up as quickly as I could. Been watching Belle. Just too far away to tell much about the egg. Dern!!!
Lynn, congratulations for having DSL up and running. Fantastic! Just in time for some serious watching.
Took me forever to get the cam up, but kept trying. I finally succeeded and it is up and running smoothly.
Congratulations to Mattie! Well done! Sure wish I could see this project that is getting all the rewards! It is something to be very proud of! Know the family is very proud of you!☺

PattiO - I think it's because they have so much other crap running on their page...FB, weather, 2 ads that I can think of!
Plus, they are having problems with the player, which is part of the issue as well.
Our eagle is certainly sending all kinds of signals that something is definitely going on in that nest today.
PattiO,
I am sorry you are having problems. I hope they can be fixed. Some of us have had odd problems from time to time, but if there is a virus, the Outdoor Channel people should definitely know. Who knows? Maybe there is something going on that needs to be fixed.

Paula definitely knows more than the rest of us about the Outdoor Channel and their goings on. She is our go-to person on here.
And I didn't mean attacks, I meant statements.
Have you contacted Outdoor Channel about getting a virus from their site?
And I think this live feed is new to them, they usually just broadcast videos on their site.
Kickingbird - More and more hospitals and nursing homes are having their patients watch wildlife cams!
A slice of cake is calling me from the kitchen. I shall return.
Need a short trip to store~~~HOLLER if something happens!! ;>)
Mmmm Shirley, what kind of cake?
Lily is out of her den again. Hope is all alone.
Gotta go finish bagging up yard stuff....
Paula - I haven't heard about it before I saw that story on TV, but I think that's fabulous! Talk about healing - this is the best therapy!
Just walked in, a slice of cake was calling me...but I don't have any:(
Hope the hatch is later, too nice now for me to stay inside.
Live feed is working ok here now, for the moment.
The Osprey female is back at BWO.

I see our egg hasn't hatched yet. Has anyone seen a pip or crack yet?

Not yet, Jim. I did get a pic when she was off the nest. It shows an egg and maybe cracks or maybe something in front of it. I have not been able to post it yet.
Shirley, who stole your cake??
Lynn, nobody stole it. I ate it. It was wondrous.
I posted the picture. It shows an egg. Can't tell for sure if it is intact. Just adds more to the mystery.
