CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Noah, the baby eaglet at Carolina Raptor Center, is getting bigger and stronger and Saturday, March 27 it will learn how to survive on its own.
Noah will be taken to a hack tower at an undisclosed location to learn to fly, hunt and survive in the wild.
A hack tower is a wooden elevated structure where Noah will live for about six weeks. The doors to the hack tower will be closed at first and eventually opened so Noah can fly in and out.
Before Noah is released into the wild it will be outfitted with a tracking device that pings off of cell phones so Carolina Raptor Center staff can keep track of the eagle.
Noah is named in honor of Lance Cpl. Noah Pier, 25, who was killed in combat Feb. 16 in southern Afghanistan.
Morning dear ones, great news about Noah, and I agree about the love for Palmer. I really was doubtful we would get a fluff baby this year. Palmer is our little miracle. Isn't he? If he gets close to the edge of that nest, I am going to be so nervous.
just got a text from Lynn, so I called her, she is MIA and SOL with Verizon.....completely gone... and she can't get it back....she is calling them now:(
Woof!! for Lynn.....thanks for the news Mits...I was going to call her when I got home to see if the irritations took a hike! Guess I better let her fuss with the techies....
OK----hack tower question......WHO feeds the eaglet???? How often? For how long? Does all support cease the day he fledges? Is the reason for him going to a hack tower because he wouldn't learn to fly right in the enclosure where his parents live?
Lynn - they will feed the eaglet when he is in the box, and will also feed for a period after he fledges. They want him to be a wild eagle...he will have plenty of room to wingersize...and can learn to fly and hunt on his own,,,it's all instinct.
From CRC website...go to learn, then eagle journeys.
How are the eaglets released?
Carolina Raptor Center has a partnership with Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation to provide the secure release site in North Mecklenburg. The site is located among nearly 2,700 acres of nature preserve along the lake, all of which is protected by Mecklenburg County. The proximity to water provides critical foraging and roosting opportunities for the eaglets as they learn to hunt and survive on their own.
The eaglets are raised by their parents for the first few weeks to ensure they become properly imprinted. When the eaglets are ready to be separated from their parents, at 5-6 weeks of age, staff move them to an artificial nest or "hacking tower" at the release site. For several weeks, they acclimatize to their new "nest" as we feed them through a specially designed food hatch which allows us to slide the food, unseen, into the nest. Then, we open the doors of the hacking tower, and the young bird can try out its wings, and practice hunting on its own. Young bald eagles are ready to make their first flights around 12 weeks of age. They can return to the "nest" for food and security until independent. Instincts tell them how to hunt for fish, but they need to practice their skills. Besides eagles, the tower has also been used for "hacking" ospreys.
It has rained more in the last hour here than it did all day yesterday.
Late afternoon outing scheduled! Christie won movie tickets from radio station, so we are going to see the new Richard Gere movie (?Remember Me?) and then out to dinner. Good plan for a gloomy day!
I did get my Coltsfoot pictures up on on the Wildflowers Link and some receded creek water views on Feathers Fur & Miscellaneous... some crazy paw prints on that one! do belive they are raccoon prints, complete with "fingernail" impressions
Speaking of racoons, Gene was sitting with the patio door open (screen in) and a coon came up to the door and looked at him through the screen and sat there for a very long time. Gene said he was watching the TV (really). Let's see if he comes back tonight:)
Good Morning All! I am finally caught up with comments. So much going on and Little Palmer is at the center of attention! Great for Osprey at BW - and without any sticks lol Wanda - he'll be back tonight because it is Terrific TV Tuesday !
Have you been following the Hummingbird nest at all??
I looked in last week, couldn't find anything I could make sense of; but this A.M. I looked again, and they have maybe three videos at the top of a series of them.
It's not all bad and not all good, but it involves a lizard attack, so if you don't want to look ....
well they have had new shows for a couple of weeks now, so guess it is just a natural break...that raccoon is going to be sad, I am:(, always look forward to Tuesdays
Jo, just say you want to make a comment and it shows you what to do next. You do not need to go to fb to sign in, You just do it when making a comment. Clear?
Wh0o knows, Jo...guess they are just taking a break---as seems to happen much too often!!!! Are you kidding me??? Are you talking about the other egg in OUR nest???? Could it possibly be?????
Watching Hornby this morning. The still have just one egg. Was watching and the eagle on the nest was really calling out. Then could hear the second eagle and up it flew. Beautiful!
That was very interesting at our nest.. Can't decide what was really going on.. Adult was dragging food and then jumped up a few feet - and then again - and then right down to Palmer
Lynn - Crunch said last night he had seen Belle dig up another egg.. Paula thought that it was the half shell.. Lolly just took a pic of it and you can't tell if it is whole with a pip or just a half...
I've thought for several days that I could see an egg in the nest. Wasn't sure if it was Palmer's egg pieces or what. Man, how crazy would it be if we had another egg to hatch. Remember that Belle and Lib worked on the nest in the snow so many times, building it up and that egg hole is really deep. It could be.....
WOW, it does look like a pip! Couldn't be, could it??? Was the 3rd egg laid during the second snow storm and how long after that was the 4th? I can't remember!
I watched Belle Sunday night and every 45 min to an hour, she would get up and it would look like an egg roll. I wasn't sure if she was just attending to Palmer or what. But it really was looking like an egg roll. My opportunities to watch for extended periods have been pretty scattered so not really sure since then.
Going over and looking at pics from Germany of their trip over the weekend to Paris (Disney World and other places of interest) Only about 300+ pics - my gd the photographer......
Oh, and Good Morning to all the Belle, Lib & Palmer fans out there. So glad our cam is up and running and the sound is back. yipppeee Looks like Belle just brought in some food. mmmmmmmm
Almost a little color in her beak. I guess it is a matter of $$$ when it comes to cams. The more $$$ the more color.????? You really see the difference when you have two cams up. One with beautiful color and the other black and white.
I don't know why we have more color on the still cam than the live feed...but as I recall they didn't have time to do any adjustments to the new cam....they just wanted to get it up and working as quickly as possible.
I don't know about this, but it seems odd to move Noah (CRC) to the hack tower six weeks before he's ready to take flight. I wonder if he'll be by himself for the next six weeks until he's ready to fly?? hmmmmm
When I went on the osprey banding trip down at Jug Bay, we removed an infertile egg from one of the osprey nests. Greg said to handle it very carefully, as you didn't want it to break on you....stinky!
Yes, that makes a lot more sense to me, too, to move him later. But then I don't know about this. Tell me Paula, do you know what Noah eats now? His parents can't "fish" for food inside an aviary.
Well I have just been to Paris and saw the Eiffel Tower and then to Disney and I really didn't want to come home! The pictures especially the expressions on my ggd faces were exceptional. I wanted them to go on forever!
Jim, Lisa will have the cam time shortened when the time is appropriate, the o's just got back to town, and I think they want most of the bandwidth going to the eagles now.
we have been working hard on the color issue for a while now. There are several pieces to the puzzle: the quality of the cam, and the capture/encoder card that we use to transmit the video to the provider. We looked at upgrading to a HD cam, but that infrastructure was pretty pricey. We may consider it in the future. The closed circuit live feed here at NCTC provides the best video overall, so I suspect it's the limitations of the capture/encoder card that muddies the image.
Steve, we would love to have color and a sharper image...but for now, we are sooo happy to have a working live feed and sound...thank you all at NCTC:)
Thanks for the explaination. Mind you, I was not complaining, just wondering. Watch lots of cams, this is nurmero uno! Belle and Lib have our hearts and....
As my wonderful little plaque I have right here beside me says....I came for the Eagles but I stayed for the friendships I have made.
Politically speaking: President Barack Obama has just signed the health care overhaul legislation that will extend coverage to 32 million uninsured Americans.
Thanks Steve, some of the colors at pre-sunrise and post-sunset with that almost-gauzy blue or golden effect can make one delirious it's so pretty. And sometimes the rich nest browns are outta sight too...
It's a work in progress no doubt, the whole operation..thanks for the ongoing "perfecting"
and I agree, it's what is IN the nest that really counts...☺
Steve, do you know why the still cam usually shows more color than live? Are there different encoders?
Yes, Jo, politically speaking.....just feel sorry for the folks who need it most who won't be alive when the majority of the thing goes into effect in 2014.
Virginia's lawsuit invokes a newly signed state law that says that no resident can be compelled to have health insurance, nor can they be forced to pay a fine or penalty for refusing health coverage.
The Health Care Bill will require everyone to purchase health insurance, at a reduced cost???, if you don't, you will be penelized by the IRS. Looks like Virginia is fighting this.
Good afternoon. Was watching Palmer leaning over backwards to eat - so funny. Mom didn't change her position though. Neck exercises I guess.
There are now 2 eggs in Harrisburg and a parent is brooding. They expect more eggs soon. This pair had 5 last year and all fledged.
Also checked on Hope. SHe was alone then and so cute trying to catch upto Mom. Lily brought back some more "stuffing" and a large limb. Thought she was going to whip Hope with it. ;o)
LOL, Diann. Saw Belle whip Hidey last year. Lib had brought some lunch in and Hidey flipped and flopped him something terrible...he left, then Belle came in. Hidey tried the same thing with her, but, being the no-nonsense Mom that she is, flopped him with her wing and darn neaR knocked him our of the nest!! LOL
I think there are other states trying to do the same thing, Wanda.
Oh, Diann, hope Harrisburg is that successful again this year! Maybe Lily is adding more stuff to block out the cam!! She "vants to be alone" w/ her little girl!!!!
JIM....here is Lisa's answer, pretty much what I told you....
If we had our way, both cams would be at 10-second updates.
But with the amount of daylight getting longer, the size of each image goes up, and we have to calculate how many images we can afford to send each day before we go over our bandwidth limit. If we go over, they shut us down.
We might be able to lower the Osprey Cam to 45 seconds. I'll check with our cam technician about that.
Well, friends, have to leave in an hour, so better shut down and finish getting ready. See you all later this evening! Will look at the Paris pics then, Jo!!!
Hi Jo.. I don't hang around here alot but I like to check in from time to time... I got hooked in Farmville.. thats been taking all my extra time these days. I hope to find a new hobby soon.. :~)
Geez, terrific Tuesday TV is repeats again?! That's the only time I really like tv and can get away from all these cams. I just get nothing done during the day. Shame on me!
I see it's windy down your way too and temps have gone down; Just when I was getting to go outside more.

Oh this would be a fine idea for the baby eaglet....
Thanks Steve for the new thread, I had a feeling it was coming !
Have a good day....
What a wonderful sight as you drive into work.
let's see how long it takes him to get back with the carry-out

The eaglet hatched Feb. 12, 2010
I am looking at our precious little bobble head right now.
I think we will all remember we learned about HACK TOWERS from DEB:) You go NOAH!
Sharon, I do believe there has never been a Bobble-Head so loved as this one:) A true miracle!
STEVE is the LUCKY DUCK for today:)
That is exactly right Wanda! AGAINST ALL ODDS!
quack quack:)
But Mom...I'm still hungry:)
Palmer was NOT done eating, but I guess Mom knows best:)
He/she was reaching up for more Sushi and Mom took her beak and shoved him back under her and plopped down. Snack time, over!
BWO Update -
03/23/10:
Well, this morning we suddenly saw two ospreys on the nest together, and then they quickly got down to business.
Not sure yet if our old breeding pair is back, but this certainly looks promising. Spring is in the air!
Perhaps Mom knows that fresh fish will soon be on its way if things go well at the river for Lib.
So did Lib bring back the carry out or not?
nope, still waiting for him:)
Did Belle finally get rid of the shell?
Thanks for the Noah update, Mits. Get your looks while you can!
Anyone seen a poop shoot yet?
I know...he is a strong little bugger...wish him the best...
I have not seen the shell yet.
All caught up, glad Andy checked in.
And I see the BWO HP has already been reported :)
OH , Shirley, you can still watch thru the 30 second cam :)
Glo, glad the feed is working for you now...
Osprey at BWO...wonder if that's our frisky lady?
Morning dear ones, great news about Noah, and I agree about the love for Palmer. I really was doubtful we would get a fluff baby this year. Palmer is our little miracle. Isn't he? If he gets close to the edge of that nest, I am going to be so nervous.
just got a text from Lynn, so I called her, she is MIA and SOL with Verizon.....completely gone... and she can't get it back....she is calling them now:(
2 osprey at bWO
Eating time! Palmer sure is peeping away!
Well, I don't think Lib can be fishing when he is on the nest!! This looks like Lib to me...
There is that half a shell....
Woof!! for Lynn.....thanks for the news Mits...I was going to call her when I got home to see if the irritations took a hike!
Guess I better let her fuss with the techies....
Come back soon Lynn... ☺
Hello! I'm back. Easy once I know what to do----just had to reset modem! Never unplug it---which is what IE said to do on diagnostic run!!!!
she has it fixed, Margy, should be on soon.....technology is good when it works.
OK----hack tower question......WHO feeds the eaglet???? How often? For how long? Does all support cease the day he fledges? Is the reason for him going to a hack tower because he wouldn't learn to fly right in the enclosure where his parents live?
Okay yay that was a quick WOOF session - thanks Helen and Hello Hedgie...
good questions, Lynn...IDK:(
Lynn - they will feed the eaglet when he is in the box, and will also feed for a period after he fledges. They want him to be a wild eagle...he will have plenty of room to wingersize...and can learn to fly and hunt on his own,,,it's all instinct.

I didn't know the shell was still in the nest...saw it this morning when Palmer was being fed his snack. He looked like an Oyster on the Half Shell:)
interesting, just like Deb would explain to us about the osprey work she did.
Mother Jill and golden puppies are doing good...one week old tomorrow...
Remember Deb working with the Ospreys and telling us about the Hack Tower. She sure did love working with those birds.
Agree with that, Mits...
we have some wonderful educators on here...you included ☺
Thanks, Paula. That explains it well.
It has rained more in the last hour here than it did all day yesterday.
Late afternoon outing scheduled! Christie won movie tickets from radio station, so we are going to see the new Richard Gere movie (?Remember Me?) and then out to dinner. Good plan for a gloomy day!
Well then maybe Belle is on a Ladies Day "morning" Out. Gosh that is such a cute littleeeaglet in our nest. So good to see and hear her :-)
Sounds wonderful Lynn ♥
don't eat too much popcorn!
Hack towers is how IWS introduced 60 eagles to the Channel Islands....
And the Vermont program that I put a link on here yesterday...that was the first one that I personally heard of..
I did get my Coltsfoot pictures up on on the Wildflowers Link and some receded creek water views on Feathers Fur & Miscellaneous...
some crazy paw prints on that one!
do belive they are raccoon prints, complete with "fingernail" impressions
time for chores, might be tough to accomplish with the cam site up ☺
Oh what the heck !
Hoping that the day is a very good one for everyone
ttfn xo
Miss Goosey on the snowman cam has her April Fool's Day jester outfit on...
I'm sure Janie is going to miss her this summer
Pretty blue sky at BWO..osprey preening.
Great for Osprey at BW - and without any sticks lol
Wanda - he'll be back tonight because it is Terrific TV Tuesday !
I swear that looks like an egg with a pip hole in it.
Happy Birthday to Sandy Bowers - she has been a Momster since 2006! I hope she enjoys this year's season with Palmer
Sharon - oh my! Hope someone gets a pic and examines it very carefully.
Get you magnifying glass out Mits....
I am with you, Sharon. That egg has a big ol pip in it. Got a picture.

Jim
sorry Jo, all CBS shows tonight are repeats:(
I have posted a picture. You can see the egg.
Now is it a rotton egg or are we going to get us another miracle?
MITS - you just bursted my bubble
Don't tell the raccoon
What is going on tonight to take away the new ones........???
I'll second that, Mema Jo.
*************************
HAPPY BIRTHDAY,
SANDY !!

Jim
well they have had new shows for a couple of weeks now, so guess it is just a natural break...that raccoon is going to be sad, I am:(, always look forward to Tuesdays
Jo, just say you want to make a comment and it shows you what to do next. You do not need to go to fb to sign in, You just do it when making a comment. Clear?
Well I don't even have an educated guess on this one! I guess it is a Wait & See........
got the magnifying glass out.....either a pip or a big smudge on the egg, we will have to keep a close eye on it;)
Thanks Lolly I really don't have anything to say right now... But I will know what to do when the time comes.
Wh0o knows, Jo...guess they are just taking a break---as seems to happen much too often!!!!
Are you kidding me??? Are you talking about the other egg in OUR nest???? Could it possibly be?????
Hope is on the cam now:)
Now I will say, GOOD MORNING!☺ I got on and there was immediatly lots of action and I had not even read the blog!
Cam is very herky-jerky.....but sound continues...
Watching Hornby this morning. The still have just one egg. Was watching and the eagle on the nest was really calling out. Then could hear the second eagle and up it flew. Beautiful!
just took another pic, egg behind Palmer, not as clear as Lolly's
Have split my screen three ways. Can blog and see Palmer as well as Hornby. lol
That was very interesting at our nest..
Can't decide what was really going on..
Adult was dragging food and then jumped up a few feet - and then again - and then right down to Palmer
Lynn - Crunch said last night he had seen Belle dig up another egg.. Paula thought that it was the half shell.. Lolly just took a pic of it and you can't tell if it is whole with a pip or just a half...
wELL, Lolly's picture does resemble an egg with a pip in it for sure.
Has anybody seen the pair turning a second egg in a long time??? If it is a second hatchling it would definitely be a big miracle.
C(°ٿ°)D
Jim
I've thought for several days that I could see an egg in the nest. Wasn't sure if it was Palmer's egg pieces or what. Man, how crazy would it be if we had another egg to hatch. Remember that Belle and Lib worked on the nest in the snow so many times, building it up and that egg hole is really deep. It could be.....
Mits, you are going to have to have an avatar or pic or facebook. lol
WOW, it does look like a pip! Couldn't be, could it??? Was the 3rd egg laid during the second snow storm and how long after that was the 4th? I can't remember!
BWE is feeding chicks.
BWO pair have started to bring in a little nest material.
C(°ٿ°)D
Jim
That would be a Double Miracle!
Okay, I think it is time for us to start praying for a true miracle. lol That would be so awesome!
maybe it's just the other egg, not viable, with a crack in it that they haven't gotten rid of yet?
Wow - I had to turn the sound off -
Lily and little Hope are so vocal!
that would be incredible....;)
I watched Belle Sunday night and every 45 min to an hour, she would get up and it would look like an egg roll. I wasn't sure if she was just attending to Palmer or what. But it really was looking like an egg roll. My opportunities to watch for extended periods have been pretty scattered so not really sure since then.
yes, Lynne,that too....
Going over and looking at pics from Germany of their trip over the weekend to Paris (Disney World and other places of interest) Only about 300+ pics - my gd the photographer......
BBILW
Adult just arrived
see you in a couple of hours, Jo:)
Both adults at our nest
Looks like lunch has arrived.
Belle is checking out the food.....
Sound on mine is in and out......
Belle back with her own breakfast!
I see they are digging up the old eggs...we knew they were there somewhere. They are not going to hatch!
Oh, and Good Morning to all the Belle, Lib & Palmer fans out there. So glad our cam is up and running and the sound is back. yipppeee Looks like Belle just brought in some food. mmmmmmmm
if I recall...3rd egg Feb 6th and 4th egg...Feb 13th
MMM MMM tasty, gulping down big pieces...
but with nature, guess we can count in some delayed incubation...IDK, would truly be something for the nature books.
Crunchy lunchy...
rice krispies.....snap, crackle and pop....
Lib up on the back...Palmer flopping over, check out his crop!
well that was a big peep!!!!
I think we full realize that, Paula. Just a wishin☺
Oh, just listen to Palmer. So cute!
LOL, Belle told Lib to get back on that chick!
Belle took off to the left, Lib brooding Palmer
I see (and hear) Palmer, but I only saw a broken egg shell while Lib was up off the egg cup.
How about you??
C(°ٿ°)D
Jim
Jim, I did not look closely that time.
well now isn't THIS interesting.....
Already 62 here and headed up into the 70's today. THEN more rain!
Ah, Belle back with more furniture! Way to go, Belle!
Whoa, my cam froze on that return!
Back with an interesting stick!
Was that another stick being added? Hard to tell with the jerks!
yeah, that was a big purty stick!
Poof! Off she goes!
Almost a little color in her beak. I guess it is a matter of $$$ when it comes to cams. The more $$$ the more color.????? You really see the difference when you have two cams up. One with beautiful color and the other black and white.
My goodness, it's windy at NBG.
I don't know why we have more color on the still cam than the live feed...but as I recall they didn't have time to do any adjustments to the new cam....they just wanted to get it up and working as quickly as possible.
yes, Lolly, that is how I have been watching it so I could snap a pic....big difference.
Osprey back at BWO
BWE chicks snugged up and snoozing...
Susan, I would have thought they would move him when he could tear up his own food...guess they will be chopping it up for him...
But I believe the reason is so the area will imprint on the chick, making them more likely to return to the area to nest.
Hope is alone and fussing at the camera!!! Here comes mommy now!
Yes, that makes a lot more sense to me, too, to move him later. But then I don't know about this. Tell me Paula, do you know what Noah eats now? His parents can't "fish" for food inside an aviary.
That makes sense. Have wondered why they plan to take him so soon.
Putting human emotions into it and feeling sorry for the parents. lol
Has Norma been on since Palmer arrived? Do not recall seeing her on here.
I haven't seen her Lolly. I read at some point she was around but watching Basket Ball.
Off to eat a bite and then excercise.
BBL
Tuesday is her well center day
Lynne, what do you hear about the dog? And is she pregnant or just fat?
Well I have just been to Paris and saw the Eiffel Tower and then to Disney and I really didn't want to come home!
The pictures especially the expressions on my ggd faces were exceptional. I wanted them to go on forever!
troubles with puter or browser. I'll probably shut it down for a while....
BWO is eating something too, but I can't quite see it clearly.
Cool, Jo! Isn't technology wonderful?! You did not have to wait for pictures in snail mail!
Would somebody, who knows Lisa, please ask her if they can shorten the wait on the BWO camera now??
(I shut down the Hummingbird picture, and now this stuff is working better....)
C(°ٿ°)D
Jim
NO don't think she's been on since Saturday.
Lolly, I will call animal control this afternoon to check on her! Have to run some errands first. BBL
nice little wren chirping at the nest, better sound than the early morning crow !
sometimes I have to make sure it is not yardbird here making noise
Jim, Lisa will have the cam time shortened when the time is appropriate, the o's just got back to town, and I think they want most of the bandwidth going to the eagles now.
Two on nest at BWO.
sounds like the ocean, the live feed with the wind...
Jim...thanks for the Hummingbird updates..sort of...tough stuff there with the lizard, but...it's nature I guess
wow BWO chowing down on the side of the platform now
sounds magical Jo....
just great, the pictures and all
well back to work here at home
I love that last word on the Spring Update #1 March 22, 2010 on our NCTC Eagle Cam Daily Updates page... Enjoy
TTFN xo
I think Norma was on the evening of the hatching... She was into a bb game.
Yeeeoww!
A thousand legger...is that a Sign of Spring ????
that's at my roost, not the nest...
Woof !
Back with more crib rails!
Norma was on once or twice Sunday after Palmer hatched.
Both adults in our nest
I have seen Noah eat fish...they have also put mice in there and one day I think there was a possum!
Lib up and out
Switch time
I don't see anything in the egg cup
except Little Palmer......
Look how tall Palmer was! Now getting some lunch!
Playpen being started...big stick brought in!
OMG too funny, Palmer needs to turn around, being fed upside down almost!
Margy, I think a thousand legger is a sign of dampness. Could be a sign of a Damp Spring:)
we have been working hard on the color issue for a while now. That was too funny! Sitting here just laughing. Palmer was bending over backwards to be fed. Silly bird! Love it!
It was so cute, I had to post it twice, LOL
Steve, we would love to have color and a sharper image...but for now, we are sooo happy to have a working live feed and sound...thank you all at NCTC:)
Thanks for the explaination. Mind you, I was not complaining, just wondering. Watch lots of cams, this is nurmero uno! Belle and Lib have our hearts and....

Thanks for sharing info, Paula. Nice to see Belle taking a break today. At least I think that's Lib still on the nest.
Steve, we just may call and invite ourselves for a visit and watch the NCTC live feed!
...And my little plaque right beside me says WANDA THE WICKED WITCH SHOPPE...FINE SPELLS AND POTIONS...
Thank you LYNN!♥
Politically speaking:
President Barack Obama has just signed the health care overhaul legislation that will extend coverage to 32 million uninsured Americans.
Now back to our birds!
Another good laugh! Thanks Wanda! Sitting here all alone just giggling away. Hope THEY don't come and cart me away.☺
Thanks, Steve, for working on the cam and providing us with updates. We really appreciate all you do to enhance our Eaglet Momsters experience.
I called Norma when Palmer hatched. She had just finished watching the WVU basketball game.
Lolly, my dear, I get sorta goofy too, when Gene is away;)
It has really gotten raw here. Windy and only 44 degrees. No sun, but has stopped raining.
Steve, do you know why the still cam usually shows more color than live? Are there different encoders?
Yes, Jo, politically speaking.....just feel sorry for the folks who need it most who won't be alive when the majority of the thing goes into effect in 2014.
Little bit of a sprinkle here on this end of the county (near the nest site). Not as warm today as predicted:( But, not snow, thank goodness!
Did you see Sissy's snow this morning, Wanda?
Bluefield cam not coming up for me to see if it's still snowing.
No, I didn't, Lynn...new 'puter doesn't show that bookmark:( New computer need a lot of up-to-dating.
She posted a pretty pic on FB.
Here's the cam site for you:
Bluefield Cam
I put on FB under my name the Paris pics so that all of you as my friends could view them.
Don't have the Disney ones on FB yet.
Virginia's lawsuit invokes a newly signed state law that says that no resident can be compelled to have health insurance, nor can they be forced to pay a fine or penalty for refusing health
coverage.
The Health Care Bill will require everyone to purchase health insurance, at a reduced cost???, if you don't, you will be penelized by the IRS.
Looks like Virginia is fighting this.
Ahh, thanks Lynn♥
Good afternoon. Was watching Palmer leaning over backwards to eat - so funny. Mom didn't change her position though. Neck exercises I guess.
There are now 2 eggs in Harrisburg and a parent is brooding. They expect more eggs soon. This pair had 5 last year and all fledged.
Also checked on Hope. SHe was alone then and so cute trying to catch upto Mom. Lily brought back some more "stuffing" and a large limb. Thought she was going to whip Hope with it. ;o)
...bbl
Daggone, that would have made a cute video, of eaglet eating darn near upside down....don't know what happened to it :(
Sounds like rain at our nest
Oh, Paula, you got it and then lost it?? Too bad.
yep, radar shows some rain passing thru
Taking a break
BBILW
JIM....here is Lisa's answer, pretty much what I told you....
If we had our way, both cams would be at 10-second updates.
But with the amount of daylight getting longer, the size of each image goes up, and we have to calculate how many images we can afford to send each day before we go over our bandwidth limit. If we go over, they shut us down.
We might be able to lower the Osprey Cam to 45 seconds. I'll check with our cam technician about that.
Thanks for the explanation, Steve. Many pieces of technology involved!
I would guess there could be 2 different devices, Lynn, or it could be sending it via live video vs still pic.
The color on the nest right now looks good...it's always better when it's shady...
Well, friends, have to leave in an hour, so better shut down and finish getting ready. See you all later this evening!
Will look at the Paris pics then, Jo!!!
Spritzing rain here at the river.. Windy and cold feeling. Burrr...
Looks like Belle is very attentive today. How is everyone here?
Before I leave - this just came through
Update on Mason's Progress
Yea, Lynne, I was recording, but sometimes it can't save the video properly and you lose the whole thing!
Diann - thanks for the Harrisburg update!
I think 11 states are ready to file suit in regards to the Healthcare bill.
Hi Donnie - All is well at the nest
Glad you are checking it out
I am off to take an afternoon break
Cold, breezy and raw out here as well...
Hi Donnie!
Hope is getting cuter every day - demanding.
bbl
Donnie - new hobby? Start watching Palmer! or perhaps watch Palmer and listen to Train! :)
