Good Morning all you dedicated eaglet momsters. (I don't think we have any dadsters on here right now :-) I see we are in store for another windy day on the nest. Bobblehead Palmer is looking frisky and well fed. For a newbie, he/she is getting around that big egg hole pretty darn well.
Good morning everyone. Got a rainy day here. Will make the flowers grow and its not snow so its all good. Isn't there something about Rainy Days in Paris. my bad that should be, LINDA AND SULEV....nest in Estonia....looks like at least one egg there....Suanne and I have been keeping close tabs on it and I know Loretta watches it too.
Thanks Mits! I have been trying for two days to get in and finally just did lots of sunlight there today and oh yeah, I saw the gleaming chain at Finland Water nest last night ☺
Good Morning again! No Rain!!! Holy Moly. I had the owl cam up & now am getting a sound from someone talking to a class about the cam & students are responding!
Good luck with your breathing test MeMa Jo. No I haven't seen Paris yet. Maybe its the way you have your photo settings at least for that album. I can see some of your photos but not Paris. I hear its lovely too :-)
Good Luck with your breathing test this afternoon, Jo. Just get in there and blow like the wind at the nest and pretend you're trying to blow Belle's head feathers backward. lol
I was just checking the FB settings to see if I had something marked that prohibited the pics to come through to my friends...... but now I am more confused than ever as far as all those privacy settings. I mainly have every item marked Friends Only.
Sorry, Helen. It was the new Barn Owl cam in CA. The class may have been thee first one to do live interviews w/ the founder. He said they just set up the cam to view on their TV, & their grandson helped get it online & now 26 countries are watching. The teacher thanked them for what it does for students. Hope teacher I sent it to can get it! BBL~~~~
It is so funny! I was watching the boars when they scattered. A car drove up. Saw two men and a dog. One man proceeded to scatter all kinds of food. I thought he was going to leave. I said, dont forget your bucket. Then he got a handful of hay, put it on the bucket and sat down. lol He needed a little cushioning. Now the boars are very close to him.
The boars really scattered, didn't they, when he left! I can not believe I am sitting here watching that as well. lol Have things to do! Whoops! Here they come back. Little pigs!
Just reading the newspaper with the obituary of the little 4 year old. I cannot believe that this statement was there: He loved riding his four wheeler......... I mean - well I think you know my feelings and I'll leave it at that.
Was trying to catch up on the blog and take care of some Earthlink e-mails, when I heard a couple of chirps from Palmer~~lo and behold, I got to see him getting fed! He seems much stronger, and more able to keep that little bobble head up better! No wonder, with the excellent care he's getting! It's sure windy at the nest, so hope he has some rocks in his pockets today!
Judy, Fantastic idea to share pictures of the little fellow. One question, if you don't mind--did you get a cat? I didn't think you had one.
Wow, thanks to everyone responsible for fixing the sound on our cam--sure is nice to be able to hear what's going on!
Well, need some coffee, for sure, and need to go study the school book for a while--until my contrary brain rebels at so much info. Keep an eye on little Palmer for me, and I'll be back later. :o]
Did You Know.....what we call Finland water nest is actually called NAUVO....
Remember the questions/controversey last year of posting pics from Finney?? Here is update info---it is good! Finney Pics

Well, I have one more comment to make about the 4 y.o. He went out after dark on his own unknown to family and went for a ride.........no charges being filed........DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR 4 Y.O. IS AT NIGHT????????? Unbelievable.
got to go get dressed or I will be here all day...no zoo today..., have not put myself on the schedule till after Easter sometime...big pregnancy watch meeting next Wednesday....

yes Lynn, I am, it is for all the cam people...still not sure if I want to do it again this year, but we wil see. In any event, I will still have to be part of it when I do my regular cam shifts, so really do have to go.
Judy, you can also join our eaglet momsters group, we have lots of pics on the group site, but I don't know if you are at school if they would block it or not.
Hello everyone - have been watching for a few days - noticed that someone suggested calling her 'storm' which I like. Is that what has been decided on.
Hi, Gang, Back for just a bit--I have FANTASTIC news!!!!! A really, really good friend of mine who I used to work with just called. She just found out from her oncologist that she's now cancer free!!!!!! (She had some kind of lymphoma.) She went through a year of chemo about 3 years ago, and went into remission. Then about a year and a half ago, her husband got really sick, and she had to quit work to be his caregiver. About 6 months ago she found out the cancer had come back, and went through 4 months of some really nasty chemo. Now she's fine! Her oncologist wants her to take one more round of chemo just to be really sure they got it all, but she is fine, and she sounds GREAT! She's got her appetite back and is gaining back some of the weight she lost, too! THANK GOD!!! And thank YOU for your prayers for her! Boy, that phone call really made my day! :o] :o] :o]
No, Safire....our eaglets name is Palmer, as Sharon explains. There was never any other consideration here. Someone on a Facebook site mentioned it, but it wasn't any of "us"!
Andy, what absolutely fantastic news! God is good!
BTW, found out that a few of the upgraded files in my computer security program were corrupted. The program found the problem and got rid of them, so hopefully everything is OK now. Later, alligators!
Okay you folks, here I return and make ready to take a nap before 6 pm work time, take a quick tour of the past posts...and, I have to restrain myself from going bonkers with all the views !
Well It is What It Is...
a expression we can't live without here !
Go Ahead Hedgie, have a Blast !
ttfn see you before work time, I saw Palmer all alone for a few moments too
Hedgie -- Koo's entire life was educational in many ways. Seeing her structure laid out there on that site was an eye opener. The way her leg had healed... wow That's the first bird I ever cried over and she still brings a tear to my eye from time to time.
Ms Bookworm -- glad to hear your friend is again cancer-free. yipppeeeee My husband was diagnosed last year and had surgery a week after we were married. Yes, a big wow.... He had his one year checkup this month and, yes, he has been declared cancer-free also. Very exciting news! Now, we don't have to think about it for another four months.
Susan, poor Koo's life and passing were so traumatic to many of us.....just pray that we never have to witness such tragedy again. Hope that the Finnish "powers that be" heard the worldwide outcry enough that they will take action in the future if there is ever another maiming of that sort.
Looking at TH live feed on PC, it does look like a blowing feather. Guess Glo mistook it for a hatchling, and really hard to see in FB pic size ON NETBOOK.
LOL Yep I guess I have been seeing things today. Sure wish I could see Paris. But I even got my blonde roots fixed. There is no hope for me today. Will try again tomorrow. :-)
The only conslation I have is that some of the best eyes at IWS also saw the eaglet or not :-). It feels good to be in good company even if it is funny.
Hmmmm!! I updated FireFox last evening, and everything seemed OK, until I was commenting about the TH thing and reading the IWS blog (they weren't sure one has hatched yet), when the whole browser suddenly crashed.
An error report was automatically sent, so maybe they will fix the prob soon.
What was all the fussing about? It almost seemed as if there was a threat in the trees or air above. Lib was actually grunting, something I had not seen before!
Back for just a few minutes--eyes need a rest from reading. WV sUSAn, That's fantastic news about your husband! Thank God! Wishing your hubby all the best!
Think my 'puter fixed itself, all right--not 'crash dump' prone any more, and MUCH faster! Phew!
Have a whole bunch of singing White-crowned sparrows out back, and the 2 Band-tailed pigeons are here for a late lunch. Heard raccoons on the roof in the middle of the night, and I think at least one pair of Black-crowned Night Herons is back in our trees. Must be Spring!
Well, better study some more. My eyes can rest when I get home from school tonight!
Will be back after school. Have a good afternoon/evening! :o]
Belle and Lib certainly raised a ruckus both on the nest, grunting and screeching. They were looking up so there must have been a baby bird threat above. That's my guess.
Does anyone know what happened to the other egg at the TH nest?
Jim, my firefox was crashing regularly for a while but it hasn't lately. I always sent the crash report but no one ever emailed me with info.
Cocker rescue called the shelter today and they are able to pick her up but not til tomorrow so the shelter will hold her!!! They have me as the backup person on the chance they don't show, but I'm sure they will. They seem like a really good group.
Daisy had to go to the vet today for exam and bloodwork. She has been having bouts of what can only be described as "hysteria" and they are coming more frequently. She just suddenly gets so wound up and starts running, jumping and nipping at us..and I mean REALLY wound up. She grabbed my whole elbow yesterday while I was playing fetch with her and she jumped in my face. I have a bruise on my elbow and thankfully I was wearing my heavy jacket or she'd have drawn blood. This is NOT acceptable. The trainer wanted us to rule out any underlying health concerns before proceeding. She was supposed to come tomorrow but I won't have test results back yet so I am waiting to see if she wants to put it off until then.
Went to dentist for checkup and cleaning...no cavities!! That's on the 3rd time in my adult life that has ever happened!
Osprey - the female osprey has coloring on her chest, the male normally does not. They call it a necklace...I think of it as the female "wears the jewelry" to remember.
thanks Steve.....I hope it isn't the crows. I know hungry crows can pretty bold and merciless.
BEagle, I don't think Hidey would be a threat to the nest (anyone else know?). She is probably sailing the skies and won't even be getting a mate of her own for another few years yet. And I think she'd be in big trouble if she wanted to "move back home"!
I'm going to return to this set of blog posts when I can check out all the links everyone has posted and talked about....when there is a little more time, so Thanks in advance, Everyone!
I actually accidentally hit on the Stork Nest the other day when looking for another favorite, saw some birds in the nest at dusk
BEagle, don't feel like a ding bat...most came on here I'm sure with not a whole lot of knowledge about eagles! It's been a good learning experience! (and when I started last year, I had to make a "cheat sheet" so I could keep everyone straight!)
There is a reason the call a flock of crows a "murder".
And they harass the crap out of raptors, too. Don't know why but have seen it many times...one morning here in the yard. About 20 of them just ganged up on 2 redshouldered hawks...you never heard so much noise.
I guess, on the other hand, I'll play Devil's Advocate and say the I'm quite sure a crow's nest with yummy babies in it would not be off the menu for any raptor.
crow was there when I put the cam up this a.m., she called out a little and ducked her head, but did not take her eyes off of it.....thankful prayers for all good news today for everyone...
and crows like to harass ravens....saw a crow chasing a raven a couple of weeks ago out back. Or rather, several crows chasing him. Ravens make such a funny noise!
I think I can speak for most of us that were here in the beginning, this has definitely been a learn-as-you-go process. I didn't know squat about eagles in March 2006.
Robert Culp (of I Spy with Bill Cosby) died today at 79. I remember when he played Texas Ranger Hoby Gilman on Trackdown! I was in love with him and with Robert Horton as Flint McCullough on Wagon Train when i was a kid!!!

BWE Update
03/23/10:
We've updated our Eagle Cam Web Log with four new videos of our amazing eaglets. And we also have a video of our unusual white pelicans.
In other news, the Ft St. Vrain Eagle Cam is expecting hatching with a nest full of snow.
CO cam is on, eagle incubating in the snow...doesn't look quite as bad as I thought it would.

Our nest looks & sounds great in this sunshine.

I have the great breathing test this afternoon... I'm gonna try not to flub it!
Glo - didn't the Paris pics even come through in your personal messages?
Hey Mits -- Is that common for the peregrine falcon to lay and hatch five eggs? I think I read the PA nest had five last year. WOW, that's impressive.
Thanks NCTC, Outdoor Channel and Paula for getting our sound and cam working again.
yes that gal up in PA has had a clutch of 5 several times....once they hatch and get a little older, they broadcast when they band them...
Good Morning in Eagleland EVERYONE. Have not read comments yet. Probably won't be able to until come back from running an errand in awhile.
I have the cam us....getting a buzz. Don't like getting a buzz on :(
Doing things around house..typing with plastic gloves on. Cleaning floor using some Clorax in it. Don't want to break out.

That just might help me if I think that way, Susan. lol
Good morning,
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
Can't seem to get the nest at the times Palmer is visible and being fed. Sigh!
Jo, hope the test today is a huge success.

Judy....click on my profile (Hedgie in blue) and then click email me...send me youyr email address and I'll send you some pics.
Hello everyone - have been watching for a few days - noticed that someone suggested calling her 'storm' which I like. Is that what has been decided on.
Has dad been to nest with food delivery today.
The eaglet's name is Palmer after Deb Palmer, our dear eaglet momster that we lost last year.
Hi, Gang,

Judy,
So sorry for the mixup! You're right--I mistook you for Judie! DUH! Sorry about that! Guess it was due to a lack of morning coffee!
Well, I'm back to studying the school book for my exam tonight. Will try to be back before I leave for school. Have a great afternoon! :o]

Susan, poor Koo's life and passing were so traumatic to many of us.....just pray that we never have to witness such tragedy again. Hope that the Finnish "powers that be" heard the worldwide outcry enough that they will take action in the future if there is ever another maiming of that sort.
So true, Hedgie, so true.
Judy - you can click on my name and underneath is a link to send me an email...I can send you and invite to the group and/or pictures.
Eating time at BWE
Hi Jim -- we didn't mean to ignore. Lots of conversations going on here as usual.
Two Harbors has a hatch!!
I don't see a chick there, Lynn...
Lynn, that's a false alarm at TH...
tHERE are a couple of interesting blog entries for the Pandas at San Diego if you haven't read them already.

Jim
The TH hatch was exactly on day predicted!! #2 is "scheduled" for Sunday.....we shall see! Hey, Jim, did you see it hatch?
The snow around the egg cup is melting and clearing on the Ft St Vrain nest.
Glo has TH photo of chick on FB
Check Glo's pic on FB...??????
Hi Andy,
It's Judie! So happy about your friend being cancer-free. Send her best wishes for continued good health.
Good luck at school tonight and congrats on the exams last week.
Back to domestic violence!
Oh, very exciting few minutes with Lynn Rogers at Lily's -- Hope has one powerful pair of pipes.
That was a feather....
No chick at TH...
Here's a video, it's a feather blowing in the breeze, 2 eggs still visible
Carole's video
621 viewers watching at TH
WVsUSAN, also happy about your husband's good health. Congratulations.
Need to check TH then really back to school work.
Back to the count down at TH.
Thanks Paula for Carole's video..
Sure could have fooled me.....
Here is one of the items on SD page---another group as cool as we are!!
B&W
OH, Jo, it's not too hard! We are all "eggspectant" grandparents as someone on the CHIL forum said!
Looking at TH live feed on PC, it does look like a blowing feather. Guess Glo mistook it for a hatchling, and really hard to see in FB pic size ON NETBOOK.
BBL

Jim
Well, there's still much time today for TH to hatch an egg. Don't give up on them yet.

Jim
Palmer really peeping away for lunch!!
Female at BWO again, and both eagles are at BWE now.

Jim
Palmer done eating and looking around...really stretching tall to see out of the bowl....now sounds of protest and he is tucked back under parent!
Thank you Judie.
Hey Jim -- how can you tell the female from the male osprey? Particularly, when they are alone.
My forsythia is in bloom!!!
Wow the WV eagles were really making noise.
What was all the fussing about? It almost seemed as if there was a threat in the trees or air above.
Lib was actually grunting, something I had not seen before!
Hi, Everyone!
Looks like there was a switch at our nest, Belle now on duty
Belle and Lib certainly raised a ruckus both on the nest, grunting and screeching. They were looking up so there must have been a baby bird threat above. That's my guess.
Does anyone know what happened to the other egg at the TH nest?
What is that nestover in the nest around 6ish...
Must be what Belle brought back from the supermarket.
It looks like a big bird.
Hi all!
Wow, wonder what upset the eagles so badly???
What in the world was that all about??
Something must be flying around out there...hawk perhaps? More calling out!!
We're watching. Besides some nearby crows a few minutes ago, seems like she's calling for the mate. Nothing else going on...
Belle and Lib were both on the nest a few minutes ago carrying on like that. I think there is something threatening in the air.
This might be a stupid question (which I am very good at) but I kept thinking about their eaglet from last year. She wouldn't be a threat, would she?
Beagle \ there are still 2 eggs at TH.
Osprey - the female osprey has coloring on her chest, the male normally does not. They call it a necklace...I think of it as the female "wears the jewelry" to remember.
still reading back....
Andy, great news about your friend!!
Susan, great news about your hubby too!
Jo, hope your breathing test went well today!
Let's have all GOOD news today!
Anyone heard from Norma????
Good to know there was not a threat. She was definitely squalling!
OH, and I think that nestover looks like fowl as well....duck maybe?
If there are people close by to keep a check on potential threats, I'll relax. Whew!
thanks Steve.....I hope it isn't the crows.
It's gotta be a duck. Maybe that's why the birds were carrying on. Duck just may be their favorite!
Steve just posted, they are watching also !
Best place to watch from, no doubt!
Thanks Steve
And the Parent is eating, guess that is a good sign!
I can't eat when I am all riled up ~
☺
Thanks Lynne. Being a new observer makes me feel like a ding bat at times.
Thanks Steve.
I think Lib took out earlier to shoo that crow away (if it was a crow.)
Last year's or any previous years eagle would be treated as an intruder!
I can hear Mr Crow nearby, guess Belle just wants him gone! More nasty calls for Mr Crow!
Thanks for the info Steve!
Other eagle is perched at the top of the tree right now.
great news you posted earlier
WV sUSan about your husband....
good news is always welcome and cherished
Gotta shake a leg, work tonight
Best wishes for a great evening everyone....
xoxo ☺ ♥
Thanks Lynne and what a good idea. I will get a notebook and write things down.
Has anyone out there been watching the Two Harbors nest? I can only see one egg now and wonder what happened.
How could you tell there was a crow around? Paula, do you have eagle ears?
There is a reason the call a flock of crows a "murder".
And they harass the crap out of raptors, too. Don't know why but have seen it many times...one morning here in the yard. About 20 of them just ganged up on 2 redshouldered hawks...you never heard so much noise.
GO AWAY FROM OUR NEST YOU BAD CROWS
And I wish I could work at NCTC! Look out the window or door and see our eagles! Probably wouldn't get any work done!
Bald eagles are warriors and defenders of the home.
Cute lil Palmer is in good hands.
me too Paula!
I guess, on the other hand, I'll play Devil's Advocate and say the I'm quite sure a crow's nest with yummy babies in it would not be off the menu for any raptor.
Beagle - I could hear the crow calling! Didn't hear it earlier when they were calling out, but I did this last time.
Steve - thanks for the info! We can hear him up there at night as well!
Not much work done just watching the cam either.
Gotta go.
crow was there when I put the cam up this a.m., she called out a little and ducked her head, but did not take her eyes off of it.....thankful prayers for all good news today for everyone...
See Ya Beagle.
Ravens love to harass eagles as well!
OH Beagle, don't feel like a ding bat. We have all learned so much over the years, when we didn't know anything when we started watching.
Please ask questions! It's the only way to learn...the only stupid question is the one not asked!
2 osprey at BWO
and crows like to harass ravens....saw a crow chasing a raven a couple of weeks ago out back. Or rather, several crows chasing him. Ravens make such a funny noise!
Heading home, cya later!
I think I can speak for most of us that were here in the beginning, this has definitely been a learn-as-you-go process. I didn't know squat about eagles in March 2006.
snack time!
Hello eagleland. How are my peeps?
Robert Culp (of I Spy with Bill Cosby) died today at 79. I remember when he played Texas Ranger Hoby Gilman on Trackdown! I was in love with him and with Robert Horton as Flint McCullough on Wagon Train when i was a kid!!!
Hi Thelma! you are just in time for Palmer snacks!
cheep cheep bobble bobble cheep chirp peep
Hi, Thelma!!! Work day over? Bet you are glad to get past hump day!
