Norma, it's too dark out to say what's happening here in So Cal as yet. Hahahaha. At least the Santa Ana condition has abated, and the early morning fogs, mists, and overcasts have returned.
57° now, and they're saying it will get up to 87° at the peak today.
By the way, I'm up this early because I couldn't get back to sleep after waking for the usual reasons. Could try to catch some more ZZZZZZZZZZZ's if the opportunity comes up.
Everything was good, Mits. Kelsey doesn't talk very much (at least not to us) but she is very nice. Her and Andrew sat on the couch and watched TV all afternoon.

Monday, October 27 What is Lun Lun feeding that cub? Since last Sunday, the cub has put on 14.5 ounces! The cub now weighs 2549 grams (~5.6 pounds). He seems to be starting his own category in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most weight gain in a single 24-hour period. In Saturday’s update, Heather reported his greatest 24-hour weight gain as 94 grams; however, we now have to reassign that designation to yesterday’s gain of 115 grams (almost as much as his presumed birth weight). Good news about Lolly and hubby. They used their trip wisely and saw a few things over here. Hopeing they get back safely. If I had known that they were as close as Williamsburg, Va., I would have told them to keep coning on 64 and then headed south on 168 for the Outer Banks. We are only about 2 and a quarter hours away. I would have loved to have met her. Hope they come back for another gathering.
Good afternoon all my fowl friends! Fun reading this am's comments. Oh, no, SNOW...argh!!! Don't want any! Oldest daughter and youngest gd are on field trip to DC today..just sent me a pic of the Capital from the Washington Monument. Beautiful as ever...Land of the Free, Home of the Brave...
Have to remember that time change affects Finney viewing! When I checked it this am, no one home...when I went back, it was dark!! And it was only 11 here!
Happy Monday Everyone. Been busy & checking email & TRYING to send to E_M. Never accepts my email---have to mail it to myself at yahoo & then fwd to E_M. I can't even sign on blog w/out pretending I'm opening a new account! AARRGGHH
Been writing all the Help links--no answers yet. No cams here--gonna check Luney. From what I've read, appears the British bloke maybe left Atlanta Cam!!!LOL BBL
PAULA---Thanks for reminding me!!!!!---RODNEY (train person) saw me Fri. & he said the EAGLE that they found----will not be able to fly--he had had an earlier accident---prior to this last accident---when the train folks found him!!---Will be used for teaching!---so very sad!---NEED TO READ YOUR EARLIER POST!!!
PAULA!!---The TRAIN FOLKS were really wanting him to RECOVER!!! They had hoped they might be able to re-release him from the train---(in place where he was found)---WONDERFUL PUBLICITY for the EAGLES & the TRAIN!! ---- were very proud they found the eagle!!!---How can I find that site?
Loretta, I can't send anything w/ pics or attachments from AOL to E_M, either. Have to send it to my yahoo acct first! Go figure.... How neat that you KNOW the train guy, Norma! Too bad that Mr. Eagle won't be releasable, but he's alive, and on the mend, so that's good news. At least he won't ever have to worry about predators for the rest of his life. He's a lovely guy.
There's a new update at Lun Lun's place, but I think they've got their math buggered up.
They had him gaining a big bunch on Saturday, but only 2 grams on Sunday. Now they are saying he set a record for weight gain in the last 24 hrs. again...probably somebody recorded the wrong numbers in the last few days.
I was emailing ... some of you too ... on my AOL account, but the software has some weird jitters and keeps freezing up. So I probably won't be on there much more today.
The latest data shows Nethy to still be in the area of Lac de Guiers, cruising along the west shore of the lake, presumably enjoying the warm weather of the region. Which is more than can be said for Loch Garten today. The mountains are white-over, with intermittant falls of sleet or snow at forest level. All very lovely though despite the cold and damp.
A quiet time here otherwise, though fourteen whooper swans passed overhead this morning, fresh from Iceland, bound for Insh Marshes Reserve, down the road from us here. An influx of greylag geese at the weekend too, also from Iceland, over 1,000 birds. Hopefully they are going to take up Loch Garten as their winter roost as usual - we hope so, as we have a Goose Roost-watch event scheduled for the next two Sundays, 2nd & 9th November, between 4-5pm. If you are anywhere remotely close, why not come along? The birds arrive towards dusk, their honking calls marking their unseen arrival, before they suddenly appear over the tree tops and literally drop out of the sky as they whiffle down, twisting and turning to lose height rapidly - the term whiffling describes the rush of air tearing through their flight feathers as they make their rapid descent.
Apart from that, a few raven fly-bys overhead and yet more and more redwings and fieldfares pouring in, but no waxwings as yet, but eagerly awaited.
Jim, they said something about having weighed Luney right after nursing, which accounted for a larger gain than usual--think it was either Fri. or Sat.! Is that what you referring to?
Thx Buds, good to know I'm not the only one w/access trouble. Guess "it is what it is"!!!
Lovely sight at Atlanta--CC was snuggled under LL's chin! We are now having light rain & it's in mid-40s on my deck.BOO BTW--Megan's pumpkin is the pits!!!LOL Love it
I only work Mon thru Fri. running school field trips, thank goodness. I rarely go thru the maze anymore, cause I am 'field trip coordinator'-what a title..
Good title!! Guess it does get a bit old if you do it too often...and know your way out!!! At least you get a couple of days "off" if you can call it that...a farmers' week never ends!
Honestly, I prefer doing an activity to being in charge, but oh well, it is what it is.. It's fun to get the group "lost" in the maze- each activity only lasts about 14 minutes, then it is on to the next, it's my job to keep everyone moving, so we stay on schedule.
Hi, Everyone...I stopped in to see if we have a cam back, but nothing yet. Has anyone told Steve...do you think he needs to be told or maybe prodded with an Eagle Cane? I always think to myself that there is nothing more important than getting our cam up and running, after all, isn't that what this Blog is all about? The percentage of times it is on is far less than the times it is off!
I am back, we didn't find the snowy owl. It would have been nice to see one, but we had a good day anyway. You can tell it is getting colder, as we didn't see that many birds today. We did see a northern shrike, a small bird that spears its food. It will sometimes leave its dinner impaled on a barbed wire fence for later eating.
True to form today, pics showed up backwards, DUH. Had to reattach backwards to get them in order I wanted! Now attempting to do dinner--hope that works!! LOL
When I worked for Target, we would sell lots of Halloween Candy right away when we put it out. Then the week of Halloween, most people came in to rebuy their candy, since they had eaten it all.
Actually we have not had trick or treaters in over 5 years. But we still buy a big bag of candy and put a few pieces away just in case we have a few trick or treaters then eat the rest. lol
I have ate the Halloween candy and had to buy more. We have lots of trick or treaters. There is a school lot a block away and a party is hosted and then they come around the neighborhood. We sit outside and hand out the candy. I love it.
We use to be the Haunted house. We had a lot of older people in our neighbor hood and now we are the older ones. One Halloween my husband put on a mask and went to a neighbors house and scared her really bad. She was such a nice lady.
Jo It has been raining here since early afternoon. It was not suppose to rain. I hang a few clothes out on the line. Jimmy came in and said it is raining. It was only a few drops. My next door neighbor called. It is raining. I said not hard it will stop. Another neighbor called. It is raining. Okay will bring them in.
Good evening to all. It is 46 degrees here and the wind is a howling. If I didn't know any better, I would think that we were going to get snow. :) BUT on second thought, you all can keep it right up there. My sister in NYstate is to get some tomorrow too.
A nor'easter developing tonight will blast the Northeast Tuesday with strong winds, heavy rain and wet snow as a huge dip in the jet stream pushes cold air as far south as central Florida. hooray:((
MEGAN I didn't know we had a noreaster forming off the coast. I don't like the sounds of a big dip bringing cold air down, but if it must come, it should go all the way down to the tip of Florida.
I sure hope the storm is above us. Winds out of the NE in a Noreaster' have road overwash on the oceanside. If the winds go to the northwest, then the soundside roads and property start to flood. If they call school, then we would have to make up the lost day on this Saturday.:( Buses can't get rhough the water, let alone cars. :(
Not sure how to find/add new avatars...any suggestions? I did just put on my capture from BW today of the wind-blown eagle! But I'd like some Holiday ones to choose from!
Thanks ladies for the info. Yes MEGAN I remember the rock. My sister said that Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin is coming on the tv tomorrow night. I just have to see it. It isn't Halloween without it.
Evening All. See it's time for Halloween!Gotta find my haunted house! Hedgie, you can search for clip art lots of places. If you're on AOL, I used to go on AOL Images. You can Search by subject. Also flickr is good---you don't have to join, just type in subject. Watching John & Kate, then will be hitting the hay---early work in AM. If I'm not back, Good Night Everyone :>)
Thanks, Loretta...will take a look see and try to do it! Neat costume, Deb!! Steve would love that! Goodnight Ceil and Candy. Sleep snug as a bug on this windy chilly night.

Hey NORMA, no school for me today; teacher workday, that I get off because I worked the Trick or Treat Night at our school on Saturday. Hooray.
Just checked into our nest and it is still frozen. Sure wish it would unfreeze so we could see what was going on there.
Wow, there sure are a few turkeys in Pa. Thanks for the heads up Sissy.
I sure wish the cam operator in the Atlanta Zoo would fix the cam back on Luney so we could take a look.

NATURENUT--I still have to sign off & on too!
PAULA!!---You are a 'SHARPIE'!!
What did your MOTHER feed you that made you so intelligent!!---Thank you!----Isn't he a BEAUTIFUL EAGLE!!!
Temp up to 50 finally, but so gray and gloomy...went ahead and built a fire in the stove...starting to feel toasty!

Now it's an eewwiiee at BWO
New update from Loch Garten:
"Enjoying the weather.
Posted on Monday, 27 Oct 2008 at 2.55 pm
That's all for now folks.
Richard"
Jim
Well, I probably better shut down for a while.
Talk to you fine people later.

Eagle back at BWO.
We are now having light rain & it's in mid-40s on my deck.BOO
BTW--Megan's pumpkin is the pits!!!LOL Love it
2 eagles at BWO now.
lol.....I love your sick pumpkin, Megan
Yeah, too much Halloween candy....
oh, my mind was going in a different direction, thought he had partied too hardy:)
My Halloween candy keeps disappearing. Guess I shouldn't buy it so early.
Red, that candy thing keeps happening here too. I think it is a bandit stealing it in the middle of the night.
Can't imagine WHO would be making it disappear, Red!!
Megan, how's the maze doing? Was Sat. a washout for you?
HA, ha...Could be too much alcohol or candy ... funny, my candy has all disapeared too. Not my fault it is so irresistible.
Paula, you are so talented---did you carve that eagle pumpkin?? ;>)
Eagle at Blackwater!
And gone....head feathers ruffled in the wind made him look so unkempt!!
Honestly, I prefer doing an activity to being in charge, but oh well, it is what it is..
It's fun to get the group "lost" in the maze- each activity only lasts about 14 minutes, then it is on to the next, it's my job to keep everyone moving, so we stay on schedule.
so should we buy you and eagle cane to keep the crowd moving:)
RFOLMAO = Love your avatar, Megan!
Nature said = Paula, you are so talented---did you carve that eagle pumpkin?? ;>)
No Nature, I couldn't carve the eagle pumpkin...but I could do one like Megan's!
Ah, yes, sometimes an eagle cane would come in handy!!
I thought of it cause I saw a pumpkin like that this morning on someone's front porch, with a couple of empty beer cans laying in front of it.
I e-mailed him, Wanda...as I am sure alot of people did:(
I am back, we didn't find the snowy owl. It would have been nice to see one, but we had a good day anyway. You can tell it is getting colder, as we didn't see that many birds today. We did see a northern shrike, a small bird that spears its food. It will sometimes leave its dinner impaled on a barbed wire fence for later eating.
Good evening all my friends of fine feathers and fur! How goes it this evening?? I am off of work and it is still daylight outside. Glorious day!
Just put a couple Fall pics on blog.
True to form today, pics showed up backwards, DUH. Had to reattach backwards to get them in order I wanted!
Now attempting to do dinner--hope that works!! LOL
Quick Hi and Bye to everyone...enjoyed all the comments, and love the new avatars, Megan and Paula...
I just an Eagle Squeak at Maine, and can hear that fog horn still, the nest looks ripe for an Eagle visit !
Got to leave for work soon, just had time to read up on a few things...
Have a nice Evening everyone, and Stay Out of the Candy Jars! What will you tell the kids when they show up for their treats ??
xoxox TTFN
AAAwwwww.. I love Pooh bear...'I am a bear of very little brain, and long words bother me.'
By the way, I did hear from Dana Sunday afternoon, she is "okay" and I hope she shows up here soon to tell us that herself !
Peace, Love, and Prayers,
xo
When I worked for Target, we would sell lots of Halloween Candy right away when we put it out. Then the week of Halloween, most people came in to rebuy their candy, since they had eaten it all.
oh, bother:)
Actually we have not had trick or treaters in over 5 years. But we still buy a big bag of candy and put a few pieces away just in case we have a few trick or treaters then eat the rest. lol
I'm so rumbly in my tumbly...time for something sweet...
Oh My, I haven't bought any candy yet...probably a good thing!
I have ate the Halloween candy and had to buy more. We have lots of trick or treaters. There is a school lot a block away and a party is hosted and then they come around the neighborhood. We sit outside and hand out the candy. I love it.
eaten not ate the candy
sounds like you are on candy overload, Ceil.....we have a haunted house around the corner and everyone goes there
We use to be the Haunted house. We had a lot of older people in our neighbor hood and now we are the older ones. One Halloween my husband put on a mask and went to a neighbors house and scared her really bad. She was such a nice lady.
yeah my dentist terroized me by going to our backyard one year......smacked him silly:)
Hey Ceil - what do you mean she
WAS
oh dear, maybe he really did scare her:)
hubby is home early...off to finish preparing dinner.....beef stew in the crockpot:)
Oh Sharon I just saw your
Pooh Pumpkin!!!
Megan & Paula - love your pumpkins..
Everyone loves the Sycamore Nest Tree
Was going to put orange lights on it
but disrupt the nest......
Jo, we are the older ones now.
Loretta - loved the fall colors in your new pics.
Weather man just told me that I should expect SNOW late Wednesday
evening.... It's not even Halloween
yet.
Ceil I meant what did you mean when you said She was a nice lady?
Did Jim do her in or did she stop being a nice lady?
Well Jo you have nice people and not nice people. She was a gem.
He almost did.
Loretta,Love the picture of the maple especially. There is a maple tree across the street from my office. Love to watch it this time of year.
Our Sunday newspaper here in Frederick had a nice spread on DC
Boo in the Zoo.
We are getting some rain here in
the valley..........
looks like ghost on panda cam # 2
here come the raccoons:)
Jo It has been raining here since early afternoon. It was not suppose to rain. I hang a few clothes out on the line. Jimmy came in and said it is raining. It was only a few drops. My next door neighbor called. It is raining. I said not hard it will stop. Another neighbor called. It is raining. Okay will bring them in.
lol....good neighbors:)
I bought my candy! Some good chocolate candy too...M&M's and Hershey bars...I've only eaten 2 of the M&M's....so far!
Ceil, everyone in my neighborhood sits on the front porch also.
Ceil, did you go out and get them in the dark???
Did someone say snow again???
Good evening everyone!
My lovely Baltimore neighbors would probably spray mud on clothes I have hanging out! :)
Mits, you should be good to go!
Alright, what are you two up to??
Good evening to all. It is 46 degrees here and the wind is a howling. If I didn't know any better, I would think that we were going to get snow. :) BUT on second thought, you all can keep it right up there. My sister in NYstate is to get some tomorrow too.
A nor'easter developing tonight will blast the Northeast Tuesday with strong winds, heavy rain and wet snow as a huge dip in the jet stream pushes cold air as far south as central Florida. hooray:((
MEGAN I didn't know we had a noreaster forming off the coast. I don't like the sounds of a big dip bringing cold air down, but if it must come, it should go all the way down to the tip of Florida.
ahhh, another nor'easter:)
Aha! I knew you were getting a new pic... looking all Halloweenie on here.
Megan, was that Piglet???
Yes, doesn't show up very well, though.
Gonna be tough to work outside the next two days, feel bad for the kiddies, they were so cold today.
BTW where are you all going to get your cute Halloween pics? I went to photobucket but could only find one pumpkin. Didn't really try tho.
love the skull, MEGAN....THANKS for the pumpkin, SHARON:)
Candy, I just google halloween avatars
Lynn, Luckly it was earlier today. I do have good neighbors. We look out for each other.
Google, Candy- now I have Jack Skellington, one of my favorites..
Remember this?? Charlie Brown
I had to get into the spirit along with everyone else. SD party for No Child Left Inside.
Good night everyone. Pleasant dreams.
Good night, Ceil:)
Evening All. See it's time for Halloween!Gotta find my haunted house!
Hedgie, you can search for clip art lots of places. If you're on AOL, I used to go on AOL Images. You can Search by subject. Also flickr is good---you don't have to join, just type in subject.

If I'm not back, Good Night Everyone :>)

Good night all. All have a good night's sleep with many pleasant dreams floating around in your heads.
Tomorrow is a new day and brings a new beginning. Prayers for all!
No, Jo, but isn't it neat?? I just searched Halloween in SD and that came up!
It really is neat! NCTC should have it as their mascot for Open House!
Was going to put link to Mason's

SPLIT
Thanks, Loretta...will take a look see and try to do it!
Neat costume, Deb!! Steve would love that!
Goodnight Ceil and Candy. Sleep snug as a bug on this windy chilly night.
