An old friend's mom died, in the obits this morning. Sitting here thinking about elementary school and the fun we had!! Me and him used to volunteer our mom's to be homeroom mothers without asking first. Used to make them so mad. Gonna have to try to go to the funeral home tonight. Sure does bring back memories!!
I'm so very sorry SISSY!!---I went through that a couple of weeks ago-----mine was two close friends lost a child---keep you in my thoughts---

FYI...the average time a visitor spends at the Grand Canyon is 15 minutes...when hubby and I were there we just spents hours and walked halfway down to the canyon.

The leaves are falling as fast as
rain drops in a shower. Our lawn is
almost completely covered even though 3 days ago hubby did leaf removal. It's best to get them up before a rain comes. Deb you have a tree removed so guess you have less
leaves this year.

During my giant panda cub monitoring night shifts I have been working on organizing data collected as part of Zoo Atlanta’s ongoing research on giant panda maternal behavior. The data I have been working on were collected on mothers with cubs aged 1-130 days. This task is very interesting for a few reasons. First, some of the data are from Lun Lun and Yang Yang when they were cubs with their mothers. It is neat to see how they were raised. Also, some of the data were collected on giant pandas that I observed during my time in China. This takes me down memory lane. I knew these pandas at an older stage of their lives, and so it is interesting to see how they interacted with their mothers at a young age. Lastly, though I am not analyzing the data personally, I do get a basic view of how other giant panda mothers interact with their cubs at different stages. It is fun to compare what I see in the data from other mothers to what I see Lun Lun doing with her own cub. I would have to say there really aren’t obvious differences in behavior (e.g., nursing, time spent with cub, time spent eating, etc.) among all the mothers.
The cub’s weight yesterday was 2,337 grams.

Costume Lady asked about the cams I
watch. Most of them are the same as you all. My favorites naturally are the two cams at the NCTC. Also Pete`s Pond,
Blackwater BWO & BWE,
PA PixController,Frodocam
(where`s Frodo??)and the Bonaire Cams. I started watching the San Diego Panda Cams but they became so dark that I could`nt see them. Thought that you all were still watching them when you were talking about the new cub and just found out that it is at Atlanta so I`ll find it and watch it now.
Two other cams I watch because we`ve been there are Peggy`s Cove Cam at Nova Scotia and Seneca Rocks in WV (it`s stuck right now).
These are all my favorites and I have to thank you all for them!!!

I'm back! Thanks, Deb...luckily oculars don't involve pain! It's just cloudy vision--mine is only one eye--and a jagged circle of white light. Sometimes a very mild headache afterwards--but all symptoms usually gone in about 30 mins. Weird!! Before I was diagnosed, I thought I was getting a detached retina or having mini-strokes!! LOL..this is better than those.
Leaves all blown AGAIN...before the rain falls!! Hope it's enough to tamp them down good in the woods so trhey don't blow back out into the driveway and "yard"--being in the woods like I am, there really isn't what you can call a yard...more like cleared pathways.

I'm back for just a quick post. Paula, I only had to pay 2.23. I don't know if it is just an election thing or if gas is so cheap because everyone slowed way down on driving--both speed and number of miles way down around here. Whatever it is, I'll take it as long as it lasts.

Good evening all!! Been out gallivanting around all evening, just getting back home. Old friend's mom died so I went to the funeral home. Started not to go but man, am I glad I did. Ya know you're getting old when you can have fun at a funeral home!!
We talked about old times till we bout cried. He works in Shepherdstown, now ain't that a kick in the pants. Small, small world. I hadn't seen him since we were children, got to meet his family, wife and children. Just really good. Go figure!

Just a quick update from last nite. Ponytail Pat, Ashley her mother and brother, MB and Harper, Diane and Mia and Nancy from CA came to stay last night. We will have nice full busy weekend.

I am sitting here waiting for our football game with Boston Collage to start at noon.
We are having our Trick or Treat night at my school today from 4 until 8pm. Kids can trick or treat at the classroom doors, play games in the gym, go through the haunted house, a maze in the library, food in the cafeteria and silent auction besides our yearly raffle. It is our big fund raiser for the year, AND for going we get our workday on Monday off. Yipee!
