MORNIN' VICKY!!----I was on the phone---my kids check in on the weekends!---LISE called--things have been worked out & I plan to go SATURDAY!!!--She will join us for dinner!!---Finally!!!
Before I start this day I have a problem.I went to let Heidi out last night to go potty. I thought it odd since I had just let her out not too long ago and when I opened the door to the garage there sitting in front of my washer was a skunk eating Heidi's food. The cat was not too happy either. You simply just dont tell it to go away, How do I get rid of it?
THANKS--BLUEFIELD SHARON!!---MORNIN' PAULA---(don't yell--but when I first saw your comment--I thought you were showing bananas!! ---CEIL----The 'LITTLE PRINCE' always looks like he has had a "hard days night"----HE IS AN ADORABLE LITTLE IMP!---I smile when I look at him!!
So glad you can make it Saturday, Norma. It will be good to have Lise with us again, I like her. She thinks you and I went to school together! (due to me losing my car. LOL)
ANNE-MARIE It will be a real treat to have you join us again at Open House!
Deb, skunk tips helped. Thanks. I guess I'm just frustrated at this point. I am going to have to close off the pet door. At least of a while. I hope the "stinker" isnt under the house.
I hope so, too. You will have to check for openings when the family gets there for moral support! Remember seeing a skunk during daytime is usually not a good thing.
MORNIN' ANNE & DEB!!---All I know ANNE--try to AVOID them!!---if you rile them they will release the odor!!!--YOU DON'T WANT THAT!!---Friend washed her dog in tomato juice!!!---Find out how he got into your garage!!---
Neighbors had a possom coming into their house. Discovered it one night. It went straight to the pet dishes like it was at home. Had been doing it for some time apparently. LOL
AML..Whatever you do, don't clap your hand to shoo it away like a dog or cat. I know from personal experience. That skunk spryed the house an you could smell it for a month. Fortunately, it didn't get me! DUMB!
Wanda that was my first reaction and then I stopped myself. I wonder how many babes its feeding or how many I have been feeding. Its going to be a busy day.
Norna I wish you had some of this fruit. I put some of it in jam and give away the rest. I wont get many plums this year but plenty of apples. I got the veggie garden in and its doing well. Lots of blooms. My neighbor had her first squash yesterday. Not me . I'm running late.
ANNE---I have been thinking of SANDRA & DANELLE lately too!!!---Would love to see SANDY & to meet DANELLE too!---(remember her husband is the cake baker) ho!---I never forget the good cooks!!!--ho!----RIGHT LOLLY???
PA PERGRINE FALCONS---WOW!---What a messy crew!!----They are all lying in the shadow of the post on the ledge!!---DAD is out on the pole!!---They were feed earlier!!--

No, I am not a political junkie, Norma. I keep up enough to know what is going on in the world, country and state. I did go see Bill Clinton Friday, not often a president comes to SD.
Anne you got a skunk huh...everyone has probably told you this. Make sure you don't feed your animals outside. Take up all water and food bowls. If you see it in daytime NOT A GOOD SIGN :(
hee hee the chicks at Delta are laying down. One of them just flapped its wing twice. Smacking its sibling. The look the one gave that got wacked. Oh my now they both are fapping at each other laying there.
DANA---I miss CAROL too!---I enjoy hearing all the new happenings in PENDLETON CO.!---WONDERFUL place to see all kinds of wildlife--birds--flowers, etc.---
Lovely Sunday Everyone! Been reading, checking cams---Black stork adult just cam back to the nest. GORGEOUS site--no wonder it was near the top of Beakspeak list....Kurepesa
Too bad our live cam is down...I get somewhat depressed reading blog---hubby's out-of-town relatives are coming Friday :>((
FEEDING in DELTA nest!!---#1 chick seems to be in charge-- ho!---MOM has finally notice #2 has gotten any food!!---Love watching them!!--Such TOTTERING little "FUZZIES"!
That is the first I have taken time to look at the Black Stork - beautiful. Then of course I had to go over to Storchennest and check on those 2 remaining little guys. They seem to be doing ok.. I don't know about their sounds - Hoarse and like Hugo always sounded like a little puppy dog... Storchennest
Megan I have you on the list for Saturday... I mean the Rumsey list. I'll send you schedule in email tomorrow about nest visit in case you come over. Any chance that Sandra came by today at market?
Suzanne Update Just got off the phone with Suz and she does miss us just as much as we miss her! It is ok to send her emails - especially with pictures! She really enjoys receiving them! She will be there on Saturday!
Well thank you Sharon:) I haven't seen Sandra in 2 weeks, Jo. I did mention the get together to her, and she said she wanted to come to the Rumsey. Rainstorm just passed over nest, just missed us, headed towards Brunswick.. Going out to plant the butterfly & hummingbird garden, a fun one to plant, not straight rows...
Ceil, Mine is moving, but don't know if all by itself. If clock is more than 9 minutes behind, I refresh. Last time I looked it had more rainbow sprinkles for Jim's cake! (if he has any left LOL), then it was clear. Did anyone4 notice 2nd batch of food come in. I saved a pic from 3:52 & looked like 2 squirrels next together OR squirrel & fish!?
Does anyone have sound on the Loon Cam? I don't. Having trouble on the the Main Page for NCTC also, cannot access Beakspeak, Momsters Blog and such. When I hit Daily Bog to get to the NCTC Cam Daily page, it is just a blank green spot underneath Steve's Profile info. Figure it has something to do with the weather. Did manage to get in earlier and see that fabulous Black Stork! Paula, way to go getting that swing done! Girl Power!
floragirl: Re: The Loon Cam - I didn't know if it had sound or not, I just wondered...some of the computer things I can access, and some not, so I figured maybe some of the other high-tech people out there might have something I can't figure out! I was without Live Feed for NCTC for weeks (Misery!) but thanks to Paula, I was finally able to get it back! I learn from you guys so just thought I would throw this one out...
My second is 10 minutes behind even when I refresh and when I go onto beakspeak it takes awhile for the bottom portion to load. Great looking dogs, Deb. We don't have any more dogs since our Princess died. Love dogs and cats and most animals.
I think so, too, but them I am definitely biased. Sam is blind, has been for about 2 years. He gets along fine, I just have to make sure I don't put anything in his way!
I read somewhere recently about taking vision-impaired people birdwatching..it is mostly "bird-listening" in their case. Talks about having all positioned in a straight line, and then using references like one o'clock, 6 o'clock, to orient the folks to what they are hearing from what direction. Is that not cool? I will have to find that article. Would so love to do something like that sometime. On bird counts (I have only been on one) - you can count what you hear as well as what you see...that surely adds to the count. Who is the Scarlet Tanager lady? On one of the good live cam days, I heard what I am pretty sure was a scarlet tanager song. Whoa, be still my heart. Maybe we will hear it and see it Saturday.
I'm not sure, but I think it was Sharon who saw one, or maybe Megan. We have them here in Vermillion, but I haven't seen one in a long time. They both get lots of birds in their yards.
Hi Magpie! Go to Naturenut's pic and click then go onto her NNNook blog at the bottom. She is your Scarlet Tanager lady I think. Great picture of one she sighted..
mema jo - Great! Saves me some time, wasn't sure how many days worth of blogs I was going to have to check to find it! A stellar day for me two years ago was finding wild red columbines, then looking up to see a Scarlet Tanager in the same location! After that, I went home and prepared a tribute to read at a funeral of a young friend who had just died. That's the kind of inspiration nature gives us. Thank you, you folks are great!
My daughter had gone to Hawk Mountain during the migration and said it was just awesome to see all the birds. It just amazes me how the birds know where to go and when.
I still have sound on my RP and the screen is a two toned green. Never had the color before........ No Pic of course. 30 sec cam is not that clear at times but I can count feet!! lol It is refreshing but the timer is a few minutes behind real time. Mine has been like that forever....
NATURE NUT: I had something on a recent previoust post about Scarlet Tanagers, and MemaJo shortened my search for me by telling me it was you who talked about them too...I have heard the song when watching the NCTC Live Cam..bird handbooks describe the song as "like a robin with sore throat," Very true. They are elusive all right, can hear them but they go from tree top to tree top before I can settle on a good view...just a flash of red. I'm obsessed!
I too, am obsessed with the hope that I will get a glimpse of the Tanager again. I have had two sightings here in the 40+ years that we have lived here. Have done everything possible to attract them, but to no avail. To have one visit is most special!
Hi Magpie, When I posted that pic I think Wanda had mentioned only ever seeing a couple. That was only the 2nd one I've seen in 10-15 years! They are usually in treetops it seems. This one I saw by accident tippy-toeing thru the woods to leave my eagle nest "secret" viewing spot. It was low in the marshy area!
Paula, YES. I was suspicious w/that one pic & Greg said one could very easily be laying down. I agreed & the very next week I got lucky & both were up! Now should we go for 3 ???
Checked the Storchennest forum & one person mentioned they were hoping to find out what happened to little Bree & get autopsy results "when the Vet gets back". Perhaps they did recover the one chick. Of the 2 remaining, it seems the small one is less active??!Hope it's OK. P.S. Congratulations to Paula--Tonight she will be Swinging on a Star!!
I just opened the Heron Cam and from the top down came this beak.... I guess she did branch!!! Scared me at first as I was just looking at the ones still in the nest...
That's what I got, Jo, a head coming down from above. I was just on there earlier and they were all three there, so I was looking all over for #3 and down came a head. Now you can see the feet moving.
Looking at the Finland Osprey.. Sometimes she blends in with the nest materials that you really don't think she is there..... Wish they had blog to update us.....
I hope there is an update on Buddy tomorrow sometime

Good morning Anne. Norma so glad you will be there on Saturday.
I am off to do some work. BBL
Before I start this day I have a problem.I went to let Heidi out last night to go potty. I thought it odd since I had just let her out not too long ago and when I opened the door to the garage there sitting in front of my washer was a skunk eating Heidi's food. Have a beautiful day Ceil, Stay safe....
Yes Norma its just getting light. I jerked awake and I dont know why. All I heard was "MOM" in my sleep and of course no one is here but me.
I am making plans to come this fall . I wish I could come now but I cant.
Wow, Anne, think I would let it wander away on its own!!
Morning Paula, Its going to be a beautiful day. Coffee's ready. Back in a min.
Good Morning, everyone.
Anne, there are some skunk tips on this site:
Skunk Tips
Good morning all!!! Oh, Anne Amarie, you do have a problem. First chance you get remove the cat food. That is what is attracting it.
Paula I just hope this is a stopping off point and not its home. Where do they live? I hope not under my house.
Typo!!!!
Can they get under your house? If so, that could be where it is living.
Read Deb's skunk tips...I scanned it quickly...I think in a burrow.
And yes, don't leave the food out.
Let it leave on its own.

ANNE-MARIE It will be a real treat to have you join us again at Open House!
HaHa that's funny Norma!
Those are Buddy's feet, the baby eaglet from NBG!!
Deb, skunk tips helped. Thanks. I guess I'm just frustrated at this point. I am going to have to close off the pet door. At least of a while. I hope the "stinker" isnt under the house.
Morning Wanda, beautiful day here skunk and all.
Oh ,, the apricot is dropping fruit. I need to clean up that too. The dog and cat can eat in the house for a while.
I hope so, too. You will have to check for openings when the family gets there for moral support! Remember seeing a skunk during daytime is usually not a good thing.
I saw the storm this morning on Glo's email. Wow that was scary. I thought for sure they would be blown off.
Those pet doors can be dangerous!!
This neighborhood is a big garden. Lots a flowers, snails and slugs. It has so much more to eat that my animal food.
MORNIN' ANNE & DEB!!---All I know ANNE--try to AVOID them!!---if you rile them they will release the odor!!!--YOU DON'T WANT THAT!!---Friend washed her dog in tomato juice!!!---Find out how he got into your garage!!---

Has anyone heard from Sandra? I do think of her often.
Wanda that was my first reaction and then I stopped myself. I wonder how many babes its feeding or how many I have been feeding. Its going to be a busy day.
Once again there is no osprey on the nest at Finland on the water. Can not see an egg. This has been happening frequently!
ANNE---Skunks LOVE DOG & CAT FOOD!!
(wish i had an apricot tree)
Both eaglets at OK are branching to that bar above their nest.
When I stop to think of it the cat just sat there and looked at it. Heidi tried to tell me and I thought she had to go potty again. Lassie she isnt.
Norna I wish you had some of this fruit. I put some of it in jam and give away the rest. I wont get many plums this year but plenty of apples. I got the veggie garden in and its doing well. Lots of blooms. My neighbor had her first squash yesterday. Not me . I'm running late.
Ferry in Finland and a small boat closer to the nest. Still no osprey on nest.
ANNE---I have been thinking of SANDRA & DANELLE lately too!!!---Would love to see SANDY & to meet DANELLE too!---(remember her husband is the cake baker) ho!---I never forget the good cooks!!!--ho!----RIGHT LOLLY???

PA PERGRINE FALCONS---WOW!---What a messy crew!!----They are all lying in the shadow of the post on the ledge!!---DAD is out on the pole!!---They were feed earlier!!--
Good Morning Dana - we did miss you yesterday.
DEB!---Misread your comment!!--That you meant--our nest was having a storm!!---(i'm a bit slow this am)!!----Been watching news!!-----SD is going to be on TV--"BIG TIME"---Hope you will waive to me when you get on!!---Wouldn't that be COOL?---I am a political junkie!!----Are you?
Seem like every time I was going to turn on computer. Heard more thunder and then lighting.
Nice to be back in. Sad no pic.
JO---Things have been worked out!--I will be there & LISA will be joining us for dinner---Sorry it has taken so long!
No, I am not a political junkie, Norma. I keep up enough to know what is going on in the world, country and state. I did go see Bill Clinton Friday, not often a president comes to SD.
Both eaglets are in the OK nest.
San Jose Ledge Leapers
MORNIN' DANA!!---I wasn't on yesterday either!----We have been trying to help ANNE MARIE get rid of a SKUNK!!!----for real!!!
Isla and chick close up
WOW!!---Did you get an autograph?
COOL!!----I've loved politics since I was old enough to hand out material!!!--(it's in my blood)---ho!
Glad you spotted both in OK, Deb.
I opened the Ledge Leapers - maybe they leaped! lol Nothing on the ledge now.
Norma, you have made my day extra special by announcing your plans for the upcoming weekend!!!! What time would you be ready on Saturday am to catch the Eagle Express?
No autograph, too many people, but you have something coming in the mail!
Really Norma
Anne you got a skunk huh...everyone has probably told you this. Make sure you don't feed your animals outside. Take up all water and food bowls. If you see it in daytime NOT A GOOD SIGN :(
Need to read up on comments.
I know not to expect pic on the RP but now my 30 sec cam is messing up
I hope the 3 dark spots are
You Know Who!!
WHOO HOO 30 sec Cam cleared up and I can see all 3 in our nest.
Two of the falcons are still on the ledge at SJ, Jo. The male is flying in and out quite a bit, but neither female has fledged yet.

I can do either--JO!!----Have you heard from CAROL??----She lives further away than I do!!
Carol emailed me with Regrets
She had commitment in Luray VA
That's what I so like about our
Momsters - the communication is
great! We are such a Bonded Group!
Lite a candle for Buddy
Glad you heard from Carol Jo but I will certainly MISS HER June 7th.
She'll see us in Oct.
The male just came back to SJ again.
Good will be good to see Carol then. ( :
I just used my international coffee in a bottle of cool water. Awww boy ice coffee taste good ( :

Lovely Sunday Everyone!
Been reading, checking cams---Black stork adult just cam back to the nest. GORGEOUS site--no wonder it was near the top of Beakspeak list....Kurepesa
Too bad our live cam is down...I get somewhat depressed reading blog---hubby's out-of-town relatives are coming Friday :>((

THANKS NATURE!!---I had not seen the black stork before!!----OMG---I could watch forever!----I was truly mesmerized!!----WOW!!
WAX----SHARON!!
Just checking in and looked at the Maine nest. Eagle sitting on branch. That is a beautiful black stork.
Going out for a while
BBL
I guess they are having squirrel for lunch! See its tail.
I hear peeping!!
AHA - Mom is feeding eaglets
Swing assembly going much better now :)
Man, I don't have allergies, but something is really tickling my nose today - keep sneezing - I sound like an eaglet!
Looks like one of the chicks commandeered that squirrel
Small thunder clouds just came through between here and Thurmont
Chicks are really peeping. That squirrel must be a treat.
I guess Mom still has control...
Peeping has quieted down somewhat, I wonder if Mom is gone
Nope, she's still there, but feeding just one now. One at the back and one next to her...
Hnmmm, now silence pretty much...nope more peeping, have to wait 3 min for the next pic
Mom still there, chicks still peeping...must be a fat squirrel
Has anyone else tried the IWS/CHIL forum today...I can't get in. Deb?
Now really loud peeping again...wonder if Dad arrived with food too?
Can only still see 1 adult and 3 chicks in the nest
Parent gone...chicks quiet
Sounds like some flapping
No, that is raindrops, I believe
Yup, thunder bumper must be coming through
Wow- still no live feed?? bummer...hey JO- I had my dates mixed up- count me in for Saturday!
Cam pic is awful now- hope eaglets stay put today or we'll miss the first flight. Can't see a thing now-
Cam pic is much clearer now- now if we could only get the live feed back up...
Megan, I am so glad you get to come! I was so disappointed when you said you couldn't!!
GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE.
My live feed 'loads' 100%, and then it just sits there 'blank screening' at me.
But the three young ones appear to be lined up in numerical order, warming up the engines, getting ready for permission to take off to be given.
C(°ï®¡°)D

Megan I have you on the list for Saturday... I mean the Rumsey list. I'll send you schedule in email tomorrow about nest visit in case you come over. Any chance that Sandra came by today at market?

She will be there on Saturday!

Jim picture has been down on the live feed. 30 second cam goes out
I just got home from a long walk with the dogs.
PAULA, I can't get into IWS forum either.
Well thank you Sharon:) I haven't seen Sandra in 2 weeks, Jo. I did mention the get together to her, and she said she wanted to come to the Rumsey. Hey, I've been swinging :)
YaY for Megan coming too!!
Deb, do you have Verizon??
Deb - do you have any pics of your doggies???
Is it me or is the 30 second cam stuck?
It's moving but not every 30 seconds.
Ceil, Mine is moving, but don't know if all by itself. If clock is more than 9 minutes behind, I refresh. Last time I looked it had more rainbow sprinkles for Jim's cake! (if he has any left LOL), then it was clear.

Here are my dogs: Abbie is the black on and Sam is the champagne one. Both are mixes, Abbie is mostly Shih tzu and Sam is mostly Lhasa Apso.
Sam and Abbie
Deb : Pooches are fabulous!

30 sec cam is not that clear at times but I can count feet!! lol It is refreshing but the timer is a few minutes behind real time. Mine has been like that forever....
Time for our dinner....... BBL
Both eagles at Kent 1, sitting side by side!
I too, am obsessed with the hope that I will get a glimpse of the Tanager again. I have had two sightings here in the 40+ years that we have lived here. Have done everything possible to attract them, but to no avail. To have one visit is most special!
Loon off the eggs, two golden egg beauties sitting there by themselves.
Deb, Love the puppies.
CHIL having some issues with forum - domain name server...should be fixed soon
Hi Magpie, When I posted that pic I think Wanda had mentioned only ever seeing a couple. That was only the 2nd one I've seen in 10-15
years! They are usually in treetops it seems. This one I saw by accident tippy-toeing thru the woods to leave my eagle nest "secret" viewing spot. It was low in the marshy area!
Nature - Is that the first you knew of the 2nd eaglet at the park?? How awesome!!
Paula, YES. I was suspicious w/that one pic & Greg said one could very easily be laying down. I agreed & the very next week I got lucky & both were up! Now should we go for 3 ???
I could get a couple of the Non-Neokast cams up at CHIL, but not any update material--Same thing ERROR!
Now Delta cam won't stay on either!!
Yea, forum is down for some...
IWS forum issue - guess it's taking more than a day! This was posted last night!!
Post #1 5/31/08 8:07pm:
"An issue at one of the datacenter buildings has knocked the domain name system for InvisionFree and ZetaBoards offline.
Since your ISP remembers domain name information for a few hours at least, this outage will not immediately affect all users.
Please note that even if you can not reach your board, no data has been lost and the server itself is fine.
We are working to bring up a backup domain name system for InvisionFree and ZetaBoards as soon as possible."

"All remaining domain name systems should be restored. It may take a few hours for your ISP to detect the changes."
I hear peeping, and some flapping..LOL and some static!!
I can't believe you haven't seen it til now...that's really neat.
BBL-still doin' stuff
Thunderstorming in Bluefield and the sun is shining on the sycamore tree!
All 3 eaglets at this end of the nest
One of the heronettes has branched!
I don't know if you call it that in herons or not. I have video to load.
Maybe we just say
One Heronett Flew The Coop! lol
This is sooooooo funny Deb
I just opened the Heron Cam and from the top down came this beak.... I guess she did branch!!! Scared me at first as I was just looking at the ones still in the nest...
Can't wait to see what you captured!
That's what I got, Jo, a head coming down from above. I was just on there earlier and they were all three there, so I was looking all over for #3 and down came a head. Now you can see the feet moving.
I think the heron is realizing that he gave up his SPOT in the nest.
I would love to see him come back into the nest - but I just know I'll miss that!
It's on there, but it is jerky so I will try it again later. They seem to load better late at night.
Did you see when it had the leaves in it's mouth?
Yes I am really laughing at this
WOW!
Good looking pair of Heron's legs!!
The one in the nest looks as though he is wondering "how do I get up
there?"
I got the leaves on tape and another head popping down if I can't get my other one to work. I thought maybe it was going to walk down the branch.
I was thinking he was wondering, What on earth are you doing up there?
Quite a few every now & then flying in the background. I saw a lot of flapping wings way over in another nest......
I noticed the nest in the background also. Dang birds are pestering the Delta nest again. Get ready, Rambo Kitty!
I wonder if the one up in the tree can't figure out how to bet back down. Or maybe he likes the extra room.
What a close up view of a heron's face! Do you think he is picking on the other one?
Deb, what is it on the far right of the picture.. I can see feathers moving but the figure doesn't seem to move....... is it another heron??
It's a wing beating in that nest, they are so big!!
It's the heron's feet on the tree limb, is that what you are looking at?
Looking at the Finland Osprey..
Sometimes she blends in with the nest materials that you really don't think she is there.....
Wish they had blog to update us.....
I hope there is an update on Buddy tomorrow sometime
The one heronette just bit the treed heron on the toe. The one in the tree bit the wrong one back, right in the head!
Now one of them is biting the camera!
I see his legs and his tail feathers
But then is that the tree trunk on the far right?
Yes, that is the trunk it is standing on.
He was really 'snapping' at the cam!
lol
