See parent in nest! Saw an interview article in paper with/about the co-writer of "Take Me Home Country Roads" and he said that anytime they perform the song at a concert (presumably outdoors!) and see an EAGLE or a hawk, they presume it to be John Denver! Pretty cool.
Live Cam still up? I can't get it...just keeps loading and loading! Haven't been able to get it once since downloading newer version of RP, but other cams play okay.
Had a night visitor--probably raccoon--who tore out all of my tomato plants--knocked over cages, too. No evidence of chewing on leaves or roots...I replanted, but wonder if I'll have to repeat...repeat...repeat...think NOT!
I retried RP and still nothing..no error message, either, Deb. Maybe I need to shut down 'puter and reboot! Think I'll go out and put rocks on soil around tomatoes. Maybe that will deter the varmints. Had just fed w/ Mircle Gro yesterday....perhaps coons want to grow fatter!
My cousin sent this to me this morning, thought ya'll might like it.
Today is the 145th Birthday of our home state of West Virginia. "The Mountain State" was part of Virginia until the War Between the States, but remained loyal to the Union during the War. Abraham Lincoln was President when West Virginia became the 35th state on June 20, 1863.
On our 100th Birthday (1963), President John F. Kennedy stood in the rain to make his birthday celebration speech. He said, "The sun doesn't always shine in West Virginia, but the people do." I've found that to be true.
All over the world secular humanists are rewriting history in an effort to destroy our true heritage. Below is the Preamble to the Constitution of West Virginia. Every state Constitution honors God in some similar way. Contemplate this:
Preamble of the Constitution State of West Virginia
Since through Divine Providence we enjoy the blessings of civil, political and religious liberty, we, the people of West Virginia, in and through the provisions of this Constitution, reaffirm our faith in and our constant reliance upon God, and seek diligently to promote, preserve, and perpetuate good government in the State of West Virginia for the common welfare, freedom, and security of ourselves and our posterity. (This constitution was ratified in 1960 - not so long ago.)
Good government is based on Godly principles and faith in God. There is no other way!
Good Morning this beautiful Eagle Day and West Virigina Day - Who could ask for more! I open the still cam first thing when signing on and hope to see Juvies BUT this morning our majestic eagle was posing right there in all his splendor. Lib claimed his spot in the nest! WHoo Hoo!
Great Good Day to Everyone---Happy Eagle and WV Days!!! When I got on here at work, adult eagle was in nest--how fitting!
Posted the rest of my Wren saga (so far). They are of course in reverse order time wise. There are 4 titles, so start at 4th one down--"House Wrens..Part I". Enjoy :>) back to work
MY RP is good now!!---Has been good most of the time!!---I know what LYNNE is going through!!---I had that problem about a month ago!!----It drove me NUTS!!
NATURENUT----Beautiful WREN photos!!!!----Enjoyed the FINNY OSPREY NEST----That was my favorite site last year!!!---This year I have not been able to get that cam!!---Everyone has helped--but for some reason--I can't get it!!----Learned last year that nest is artificial!!!---I used to tell SUZANNE---"the nest is a work of art"---Well it was!!!--
There are no big medical changes in the Norfolk eaglet to report. We are still waiting to schedule surgery to debride the main mass. However, as we wait, the mass is becoming smaller, making the procedure less risky.
The eagle is being housed in our isolation room, along with other wildlife patients that need to be quarantined to prevent the spread of transmissible diseases. In addition to the baby Bald Eagle, we are currently housing in our isolation suite two Eastern Box Turtles with Mycoplasma conjunctivitis (an eye infection), a Virginia Opossum with sarcoptic mange, and a Mourning Dove with avian pox (not a concern for the eaglet). Staff members wear latex or vinyl gloves while handling patients; these gloves are disposed of between patients. The cage furniture (hide boxes, perches, food dishes, etc) are all assigned to individual patients and disinfected on a regular basis. All items in isolation stay in isolation. Before staff members can enter or leave the isolation room, they must also step through a disinfectant bath. With these protocols in place, we hope to protect all of the Center's patients from potentially infectious disease agents.
BTW Thanks for the "Buddy" Update, Deb. They didn't mention about his eating habits.... I guess they still have to place the food into his mouth (beak) They had said he was gaining weight. Interesting patients with him in the isolation room.
Good morning all! Late getting on, slept late and had to hurry to get to my hair appointment. Now I am all beautiful to go out tonight. :)
Thanks for the update Deb. I have been checking all week for that, but had not done that today. Guess those box turtles caught my eye infection. Sorry!
Happy Eagle Day to all and happy WV day to all WV'ians! June 20th is a GREAT DAY!
MORNIN' BEAUTIFUL LOLLY!!---I bet you didn't have have time to fix your Friday special!!----ho!---You would rather look ravishing than to eat home-made bread & sausage!------(devil made me say it)
NORMA,,,,I had my homemade bread and sausage! But only one cup of coffee. :( I was getting ready and Jack brought it to me. We seldom miss our Friday morning treat!
I think the photos from the hack tower are very interesting. So, what do they do....climb up into the tower several times a day to feed the eaglets? And, after they fledge who teaches them to fly and catch fish? In other words....where are their little desks?
HELLO FROM THE BEACH got here around 12:30 p.m., computer is as usual acting up. Jubby is bringing laptop from home tonight. He should be here within the hour, then we are going out to dinner. It is a beautiful day here, went and got some plants for the balcony. Got some hot pink shade of vinca this year, only thing I could find that I didn;t have to plant myself...Have not seen any dolphin yet, but am going out to the balcony now....TTL
Hi, Lolly, They apparently have a sliding tray setup in the back of the tower, and they feed the youngsters using that. There is no contact between the humans and the eaglets.
I wrote a similar question to Dr. Sharpe over a year ago, and he says that hacked eaglets have as good a survival rate as the normally raised chicks.
Even though the normally reared chicks get some "training by example," none of them fish well until they are at least a year old (instinct and practice mostly).
In the meantime they beg, borrow or steal their food ... living or dead.
there is an update about Mei Xiang on the PANDA PAGE, she has enter her second luteal phase, so we have another 40 to 50 days to see what happens, could be the middle to late July if she is pregnant or having another false pregnancy...keeping my fingers crossed
Lisa at BWO has a picture of an osprey pair that photographer Scott Young took. Good closeup of osprey bringing in a fish. I think he ate some of it first.
Waiting for an Eagle to come to the nest, or four or five. Meanwhile: Heron nest looks empty, Barton Cove chick rather frisky, Oklahoma Eagles look just beautiful, and I have caught up on the Blog today..sounds like there was some action..I had to check out just before seeing the food fight the Costume Lady witnessed... now to watch some more... Hope everyone is having a nice evening...
There is a great little slide-show on the Hummingbird cam site, 25 days in the hatching, feeding, and fledging of the Allen's Hummingbird, see "New Slide Show, 25 days, June 17"
Good Evening All, Happy Eagle Day! Got several replies from Suz today--she got a chance to do emails I guess. She is coming down here to Patuxent River Park to do osprey banding next weekend (when I don't work!!) Maybe I can slip down there. I wish Greg would tell somebody about this stuff!!
I just posted a few more pics--I can't believe what happened today (not bad, just a little sad).
Great pics, Loretta. TY for sharing. Think I'm going to call it a day. Good night to all. Magpie--have a good day at work tomorrow. I'll be listenin' for ya'!
Good Night to you, Lynn, and Everyone else. I'll behave myself on the radio... working daytime sure is different. Always hard to walk away from the Eagle Nest in the morning..."just one last peek..." xo
Gotta pack lunch, do dishes, watch news & early AM tomorrow. I was so surprised this PM that ALL the wrens had fledged. Last year, the last one came out on July 13!Course think they started nesting later. The constant stream of food tthis year probably hhelped them grow fast. I wish I had the cam this AM when 1 came out & went back in--was so funny.
Paula, how did you find out about the osprey banding? Is it an Audubon Soc. thing or something like that? It's never printed in our Events sched.
I got invited from Lisa at BW last year...there are even some osprey cam watchers from the Puleston cam that come down every year. Last year there were also 2 ladies from TriState bird rescue. Greg also takes out some school groups, I believe.
Thx, Paula. I know Lisa emails Greg re:bird info, such as the storms that even wiped out Annapolis.I know he takes out students..high school science mostly. One of our summer interns went a couple years ago w/ student group & he forgot his camera, so they took one of mine--older Mavica--hand me up from my daughter! Couldn't get on heron, so saw bur. owls. They are so cute--like little tan penguins! I guess I'll get off of here - Nighty Nite All......
Here I am again, alone on a Friday night, full of crab legs and ready to get some rest. Lots of garden work to do tomorrow. I have posted a photo of my Mom eating her "Friday Night Special".
Eaglets bailed pretty early this morning. I was up for a minute (you know, potty break) around 4:30 and they were rustling around, and they left sometime since then....beautiful morning to be out grocery shopping...and taking a dip in the Potomac.
HEY MOVIN - GOOD MORNING TO YOU TOO!! I CAN RELATE TO SCREWED UP SLEEP SCHEDULES !!
GLAD YOU SAW THE EAGLETS THIS MORNING...I SAW THAT ONE THAT WAS CLOSE TO THE CAM SIDE OF THE NEST, LOOKED LIKE TINY TO ME...BUT I WENT BACK TO SLEEP AND MISSED THEIR DEPARTURE.
SO WHAT IS IT, 2:45 AM OR SOMETHING YOUR TIME?
ENJOY YOUR CALIFORNIA WEST COAST DAY, FIRST OFFICIAL FULL DAY OF SUMMER..
IF YOU CAN CATCH THE MOON, IT IS STILL TRAVELING THORUGH THE SOUTHWEST SKY WITH JUPITER !
Hey, Magpie, I'm not quite asleep yet, but I should be.
Yeah, it's about 3 a.m. now in So Cal ... I did sleep a couple of hours until around midnight though.
The "colored" font is just the "a" tag right below this box. "b" is bold, "i" is italic.
I've been doing a lot of weird things this morning, but right now I'm getting familiar with my new cell phone and trying to program the names and numbers into the "contacts" list.
By the way, magpie, if you use the tags (I can't use the < here or it will change mine), you should put one like "b" before the text you want in bold font, and then you should put one like "/b" after the text, which "closes" the tag.
Hi Mag & Jim, I go to work today--Boo.(Every other Sat.) Like work, but hate to get up---I'm a night person! Good Morning everyone Heard father wren singing closeby---hope he's taking care of those babies! Later
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!!---This one's for you 'BEAUTIFUL MAGPIE'!!----It is another GLORIOUS -- COOL am here in WV---"HOME OF LIBERTY & BELLE---(time LIB gets top billing)---PLUS 3 LOVEABLE FREE-LOADERS"----temp 64°----rising to the 80s today!!---No deer this am -- but lots of singing birds & a couple of wood peckers!!----"LIVE" WOULD BE GOOD TOO STEVE!!!---REMEMBER---LIFE IS GOOD!!----SMILE & the WORLD SMILES WITH YOU!!------- ENJOY!! ENJOY!!!
Good Morning Jim, Nature, Magpie, Norma and those coming in( :
Thanks to those who put Buddies update on, hacktower information NEAT!!!, Wrens pics and video enjoyed very much, Mountain State information, new pics on Wanda's site, The Happy Anniversary person ( :, and all the great comments to bring me up-to-date. ty
MORNIN'---DANA!!---I am interested in reading the hack tower info!---That's what WV did in the NATIONAL NEW RIVER GORGE PARK!!---They brought all these FALCONS found that had build nests in dangerous places--(cities, bridges, etc.) & transferred them to the CLIFFS at NEW RIVER!----It's been very successful---2 or 3 yrs in making! FALCONS WERE UNTOUCHED BY HUMAN HANDS & FED THE SAME WAY---HACKING BOXES WERE USED!!!
Good morning Norma, Paula, Dana and the early birds who have left. Nest is crowded with 2 eaglets. Norma look in on your flamingoes. Helen mentioned the other day that they are nesting.
I want to go out and paint the trim on the house, but I got attacked by mosquitos. I am going to the store as soon as it opens to see if they have anything I can use.
MORNIN' CEIL----The FLAMINGO NESTS are visible---I hadn't seen that before!!----Beautiful pics!!----Only 1 egg!----The are AWESOME to watch----so graceful---mate for life too!!---
DEB, if you are looking for relief from the Mosquito bites, I use a product called SKEETER STICK. It works really well. Then for protection from the mosquitos is the new OFF with corn starch to make it go on your skin DRY and more comfortable.

Parent flew into nest.
There is a nice big fish for someone to eat.

S'S SISSY---That is so true!!---When kids were younger---all you had to do was rattle paper!---They could hear that sound for a mile!!
I guess that is why they are there..
Looking for food!

First arriving juvie just about landed on Belle...cam messed up, and then there were 2 in the nest!
One eating now in nest bowl, other at the launch pad, looking out
BTW Thanks for the "Buddy" Update, Deb. They didn't mention about his
eating habits.... I guess they still have to place the food into his mouth (beak) They had said he was gaining weight. Interesting patients with him in the isolation room.
Think that's Tiny eating...

Deb - are you here?
I am now, Paula, just got back from lunch.
The lady Osprey of Finland is feeding her two beautiful chicks now....

Jim
Thanks for letting us know you arrived safely! Enjoy dinner out!
May you sight many dolphins!
Hi, Lolly,
They apparently have a sliding tray setup in the back of the tower, and they feed the youngsters using that.

Deb - was looking for an answer to a MAC question...had to work on one here. But I googled it and found it....
Mits, I love Vincas...Dianthus are nice too
there is an update about Mei Xiang on the PANDA PAGE, she has enter her second luteal phase, so we have another 40 to 50 days to see what happens, could be the middle to late July if she is pregnant or having another false pregnancy...keeping my fingers crossed
Heading home....guess RP is down for the weekend....catch ya later
Happy Birthday West Virginia!!!
Happy American Bald Eagle Day!!!
Have been gone all day and will now play catch-up bbl
Heading out to Lowe's...gotta couple more flowers I'd like to plant tomorrow...BBL
our nest is MT from what I can see...fuzzy pic
JIM.....thanks! I really appreciate the information. Had been wondering! It is so neat what they know to do for these eagles!
Lisa at BWO has a picture of an osprey pair that photographer Scott Young took. Good closeup of osprey bringing in a fish. I think he ate some of it first.
JUVIE IN OUR NEST!
Empty nest now.
Waiting for an Eagle to come to the nest, or four or five. Meanwhile: Heron nest looks empty, Barton Cove chick rather frisky,
Oklahoma Eagles look just beautiful, and
I have caught up on the Blog today..sounds like there was some action..I had to check out just before seeing the food fight the Costume Lady witnessed...
now to watch some more...
Hope everyone is having a nice evening...
Can't help but wish Barton Cove Eaglet had at least one sibling to cut up with...the second little one died a day or so after hatching.
Got My Wish! One Child in OUR nest. xo
That's a long 90-second refresh, but the picture is nice and clear.
Maybe it is Tiny there...
Wow, cam pic pooped out and now the bird is gone...well, after a long day away from the "students" I am grateful to see what I did...
There is a great little slide-show on the Hummingbird cam site, 25 days in the hatching, feeding, and fledging of the Allen's Hummingbird, see "New Slide Show, 25 days, June 17"
http://cam.dellwo.com/
Parent at Delta just showed up with food. Yumm.
The sound of those eaglets peeping...at Delat - reminds me of the days of sound AND live feed our nest. Sigh
Well, that was funny. Pulled up our cam and saw Liberty and Belle and on the next refresh, there were 2 babies and no Lib and Belle! IT WAS MAGIC!
My internet went down for about 3 hours, not sure why but grateful it is back up now!
TWO BIRDS OUR NEST !!!
DEB - Love the videos on your site, Delta, Colorado, Woodies, and all the rest.
Computer IS moving slowly tonight. Time to shut it all down and start up again....
Well, Hellooooo Double E-S...Been waiting for someone to jump on here...
"Friday night date night" with all the birds..
TTFN
W H O A !!!! THREE BIRDS....
Still cam looks like all 3 juvies in nest, doesn't it?
Hi, Magpie and Sharon...not too many of us on tonight!
Hi Gals Just took a quick run to CVS for b-day cards for grandkids.
Some months are really full of them!
Do you think it is down to 1 in our nest?
Looks like it now, Jo, but wouldn't think they would leave after dark when it looked like they were settled down for the night....
I can definitely see one...
Hmmm, think there is one on the far side of the one you can see...think I saw a glowing eye!
Aha, there's the eaglet glowing eye again...2 for sure
Good Evening All, Happy Eagle Day!
Got several replies from Suz today--she got a chance to do emails I guess. She is coming down here to Patuxent River Park to do osprey banding next weekend (when I don't work!!) Maybe I can slip down there. I wish Greg would tell somebody about this stuff!!
I just posted a few more pics--I can't believe what happened today (not bad, just a little sad).
Two parents, Two juveniles at Oklahoma Eagle cam...silhouetted in the sunset. Really pretty.
I did see one heron back on the nest awhle back, can't get it opened now.
Beautiful, NATURENUT.
You're right, it is a little sad. I love all the photos and the captions.
Always hard to walk away from the Eagle Nest in the morning..."just one last peek..."
xo
Good for Suz! I did that last year, she'll have a blast!!!
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
Awww, the wrens are cute, Nature.
One last little thing:
HAPPY FIRST NIGHT OF SUMMER!
It's official, summer solstice as of 7:59 pm Eastern time Friday.
Longest day of the year, too, I think....
Night Mits! Wave to the dolphins for me!
Oh, Goodnight, Mits--Happy Dolphin Dreams!!
Still cam just refreshed--looks like 2!
Spidey's web hasn't changed for awhile. I think he's gone (but not his web!)
I got invited from Lisa at BW last year...there are even some osprey cam watchers from the Puleston cam that come down every year. Last year there were also 2 ladies from TriState bird rescue. Greg also takes out some school groups, I believe.
He gets donations to do it - I know he got some decent ones from our group...everyone was so appreciative...great guy, very knowledgable!
I mean, I think he charges like $5 a person...we all did more than that!
Time to tuck it in for tonight...hoping to sleep in a little tomorrow...
Nite all!
I sure got sidetracked tonight.
I do see our sleeping eaglet(s)
Good Night Anyone that may still
be here
Prayers for all
Here I am again, alone on a Friday night, full of crab legs and ready to get some rest. Lots of garden work to do tomorrow.
I have posted a photo of my Mom eating her "Friday Night Special".
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
SLEEP TIGHT
PRAYERS
Eaglets bailed pretty early this morning. I was up for a minute (you know, potty break) around 4:30 and they were rustling around, and they left sometime since then....beautiful morning to be out grocery shopping...and taking a dip in the Potomac.
Good Morning to Everyone.
Hope it's a Great Day for all
Glad You're Off Today, NatureNut!
GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD MORNING BOTH, EAGLE LOVERS.
I'm a little screwed up on my sleep schedule again. That's all.
It's already 5:30 in Shepherdstown, and I see a large eaglet in the nest, either eating or searching for nestovers.
It looks really big, but it's close to the camera, so it might be the wide angle effect.
Have a great day and a great weekend, all...
C(°ï®¡°)D
Jim
JIM: I HAVE A FEELING YOU ARE ALREADY IN DREAMLAND. SOMEDAY I WILL LEARN HOW TO DO THE COLOR PRINT THING ON HERE.
MAY YOU SEE SOME GREAT WILDLIFE OUT YOUR WAY TODAY....
One child is baaaack !
C(°ï®¡°)D
Jim
By the way, magpie, if you use the tags (I can't use the < here or it will change mine), you should put one like "b" before the text you want in bold font, and then you should put one like "/b" after the text, which "closes" the tag.
All tags with "'s = tags with < and >.
C(°ï®¡°)D
Jim
OKAY MOVIN' - that will be my challenge for when I get off work and hop on here later...
I appreciate that...
"Ask a question, get an answer."
Birdy made a quick stop and he's off again...
Well, Happy Day to All...
Okay Eagle Buds -
Gotta head out.
NORMA - I will miss your bold bright greetings this morning.
MITS - Hope your panda fur does not get too wet today..
Love to all....
xoxo

PAULA----No room at the inn for LIB & BELLE!!---ho!
DEB, if you are looking for relief from the Mosquito bites, I use a product called SKEETER STICK. It works really well. Then for protection from the mosquitos is the new OFF with corn starch to make it go on your skin DRY and more comfortable.
