GOOD MORNING TO EVERYONE.... I'M BAAAACK! Computer seems to finally be settled down for some serious blogging. It has been coming and going since Saturday night. Never stayed on long enought for me to blog or read my e-mail. STEVE...love the photos. So good to see our babies enjoying the grounds of NCTC.
Mei Xiang acts like it is just all she can do to scratch her itch. I told Sharon it's like she is saying, darn that itches, reckon I am going to have to scratch that sometime. :)
MORNIN' AGAIN!!---PAULA--SISSY & WANDA!!---HELEN!!--DON'T FORGET!!---SISSY is our #1 EAGLE MOM today & everyday & JIM is our # 1 EAGLE DAD today & every day!!!!
HELEN!!--I had 2 DEER---I'm sure I can find a couple more!!---How many do you want!!! What's the latest on CEIL!!
BOB has his BEAUTIFUL BANDING PHOTOS on the other BLOG!!!----They really are SPECTACULAR!!!----I have a new love for those OSPREYS!!---handsome birds!!!
She says her throat feels better, but it has turned into a cough now, hoping she gets some medical attention when she gets to Oregon, she is a tuff ole bird...
BOB, enjoyed your photos...was sorry to see the slideshow end, could have looked at photos all morning. The osprey are really beautiful birds. Looks like evryone enjoyed themselves.
Thanks Dana and Norma...it is good to be back on here. Our electricity was out only a short period of time. Our neighbors still have wires down in the yard. I just can't imagine why the power company hasn't been down there yet. My computer went out late Saturday night. Seems to be OK now.
MORNIN' INDIANA DAVE!!---Hope you folks are getting back to normal & the WORST is over!!!---Maybe it's time to move to the mts.!!---How are your EAGLETS??----Our crew is in & out---Still depending on food drops for most of their food!!!--Is you school year over & you plan to retire??????? STAY COOL!!
Good Morning everyone! Thanks for the pics, Steve. I think it is time for me to plan to visit the NCTC grounds to see who I can see
All of the Osprey banding day pics are fantastic. Suz has many that she is planning to post somewhere for all to view. Melanie & Bob & Loretta - thanks so much for sharing your day in pics with all of us!
MORNIN' MEGAN!---I know you are up & clipping some where---ho!---I certainly hope you missed those horrible rains Sat. evening!!---Thinking of you---BEAUTIFUL FLOWER GIRL!!!
DEB---Checked your WOODPECKER pics!!---Aren't they colorful!!----I was certain I had seen a BOBOLINK!---but I didn't see one!!-----Now I know what I know what they look like!!---You are truly blessed to live in an area with so many birds!! We are blessed that you share them with us!!---ho!
Dana, glad you like the woodpecker, have been trying to get a picture of one for a couple of weeks. They have been all over lately. I have to put comments on them yet, but was too tired last night.
Deb, you do have some interesting birds in your area. Have heard of a Bobolink, but never saw one. Thought they were they same as a Bobwhite...WRONG! We are learning so much from our Momsters & Dadsters from different states. It is wonderful to share with each other.
Good pics of woodpecker, Deb. Did anyone hear about the bear rescue? Think it was in Florida...a tranquilized bear decided to head into water and was going to drown, so a guy went in after it and saved it! Pretty brave! The bear was 6 1/2 ft. tall and weighed, I think they said, 375#!!!
SISSY keep clicking til you get the buffering, my contact guy, told me the other day there is some work being done, and uploading may be slow.....soooooo keep clicking, I am on both now...Mei is eating and Tai is sleeping
On another note... I got home last night and checked our hummingbird feeders. There was a squirrel hanging off one, tipping it to the side drinking the nectar.
Thanks for repeating the live Chimney Swifts link that Deb found yesterday. When I first put it up I was wondering how was I going to know it was working as everything was sooooo still - All of of sudden the wing of the swift flew up and really really startled me! lol
Deb How close did you get to the tree that you are questioning what is on it? Is there a hole there in the center? A limb may have broken from the tree and that may be an actual fungus type growth...
That bird doesn't look like it has the black on the wings but it may just be the angle. You are probably right wvgal, that is probably it. Beautiful at any rate.
Maybe it is a growth, I got right next to the tree, but it was about 15 feet up. I was in bird mode, so thought nest, never thought about a limb falling off. It isn't far, I plan to go back, so I will look again. Maybe the park ranger will know.
OH BOB!!---I have had squirrel problems for years!!----Read in a bird column---to mix 'red pepper' in your feed----won't hurt the birds -- but the squirrels don't like it!! ------- I had one daughter crying that it would hurt the birds & a son-in-law helping me pour it in the feed!!---WORKED 1DAY----SQUIRRELS were back the next day---hot pepper & all!---CLEVER LITTLE DEVILS!!----ho!
DEB!---Don't you think that the bark has been punctured etc. in the middle of the growth---looks like a scar on the tree---could cause the growth around it----
MY #1 SUGGESTION!!---ask the park ranger!---ho!------I have seen fake forms of bark growth in dept. stores---used to decorate your trees!!!
That little guy was very calm, and all of a sudden he turned his head around with beak open! Thought he was gonna take my nose off. But then he later bit my finger, but it didn't hurt at all. I was totally surprised. Kinda glad he didn't apply any pressure, he woulda taken my finger off.

Norma I did send Suz a separate email with the pics Bob first put out of the 3 of them. She has the links from Bob, Melanie and Celeste. Suz will be sending out email through Momsters of her pics.
YEAH JO!---We have the CHIMNEY SWIFT on 2 sites now!!!----now I know what you are talking about!!-----I was surprised to see the CHIMNEY SWIFT sitting laterally on the nest!!!

think it is Tai, looks like his little side den, unless they moved Tian there, they are constantly changing Tai and Tian...most days, so they don't get bored, they are keeping Mei in the 2 middle inside dens, so she can have her pic and room if she gives birth.
SISSY!!---I don't know what's wrong with the PANDA cam!!---I think TAI is the one lying in the rock cave like thing!!---Keeps scratching his other leg!---That's a good clue??? ho!
Do you have the the link for the Hummingbird feeders you are talking about?
Bob, I've never had a squirrel hanging on my feeder, but I have had House Finches and other medium size birds doing it.
Removing the perches from the feeder slowed the bigger birds way down ... and many of my Hummers perch in trees nearby, so it's a waste on my feeder.
Bees have never gotten to the nectar through the bee guards on my Perky Pet feeder. Ants have though, and the Hummers won't go near the stuff if ants are all over it.
I did find a cure for ants somewhere on-line, and it works:
Ants smell and perhaps taste with their feet, and they do not like to walk on a greasy or sticky surface; so you just put a ring of Crisco (I still have a can I don't use for much else) or Vaseline on the mounting wire or the hook ... between the ants and the nectar somewhere ... the little buggers will not cross it.
Probably work for other applications too, but I can't think where else you would put a ring of Crisco right now.
Sissy that bird is not the Green Jay.....I snapped a picture when several were at feeder. It show larger pic...definately not a green jay. But I can't find what it is anywhere....been checking places all morning.
JO---if you want a 'FEEL GOOD' site---watch the 'little flamingos'----they are ADORABLE!!--one is preening!!----they make one feel warm & fuzzy!!---ho!
Every thing in OREGON looks beautiful today-----just looked at their COLORFUL flowers---baby bears & lots of fish!!----CEIL will so ENJOY OREGON!!!---(almost forgot---her SON is there too)--------ho!
just talked to CEIL a few minutes ago, they are about 2 hours away from her son's house...she talked to her doctor, no strep, but he is ordering a Z-PAC for her, can pick it up at a pharmacy near her son, she thinks she may have bronchitis or pneumonia because of her wheezing.....I'm gonna smack her next time I see her:)
Black storks are really getting big...wonder when they will fledge? I love that camera--crystal clear and w/ nice panorama of surroundings, too! A bit of sun glare right now...and it's already 8:30 there.
It is a beautiful green bird on the hummer feeder, black cap on it's head. We can't figure out what it is. Jim, the bees have been overtaking the feeder for the past few days but today is not as bag. They have been keeping the hummers away. Get an occasion coati (whatever that is, looks like a cross between an anteater and a raccoon).
Hello Everyone--Busy day!! Haven't read everything, but saw Deb & Bob's pics. BEAUTIFUL.Read Bob's squirrel story & I have pics of just those antics that occured last summer at Park, but Blogger wouldn't load them 3 times!!!! Baby Robin Report; One didn't make it thru the night, but Peppy got the 7AM worm breakfast. After checking rehabs online late last night & making several phones in AM, got in touch w/the best that's closest to us.She said since I was out of worms, it could tempo. eat soaked cat or dog crunchies.Had Purina Cat Chow!I had heard another youngster way back in yard & seen a robin parent. We speculated whether that adult would feed him. I decided not to let him loose, as I might not be able to feed him if he wandered too far away & didn't know size of other youngster. We both had appts. so I called her back at 1:30. In meantime, hubby wanted to keep him since he could eat cat food!Lady said (Thank God)there are Fed. Rules against keeping migratory birds & cat food is NOT a suitable diet.So Peppy in his bin and I headed down the road, about 30 miles.I am so relieved he is in good hands and will surely make it.She had him in a cage w/twig perch and a bowl of TINY somethings & he had been sitting in a larger bowl (these simulate nests.)Before I left, he jumped up on edge of bowl! She does this work at her home by donations, but want6s to start a clinic & wondered if I wanted to work there!

Is that 1 or 2 in our nest?
SISSY!!---I don't know what's wrong with the PANDA cam!!---I think TAI is the one lying in the rock cave like thing!!---Keeps scratching his other leg!---That's a good clue??? ho!
Thanks for the heads up, Norma. I am NOT going over to the stork cam!!!!
One in the nest, Dana as far as I can tell.
Rain has stopped here
Going for a panda nap

what bird are you looking for SISSY?
Thanks, Sissy. All the way down in Ecuador, huh! Boy they don't have any guards against bees or anything else apparently.
I saw some larger sparrow like birds on there a couple of minutes ago.

Black storks are really getting big...wonder when they will fledge? I love that camera--crystal clear and w/ nice panorama of surroundings, too! A bit of sun glare right now...and it's already 8:30 there.
BLACK-CHINNED HUMMING BIRD?--could that be the one SISSY???
It is a beautiful green bird on the hummer feeder, black cap on it's head. We can't figure out what it is. Jim, the bees have been overtaking the feeder for the past few days but today is not as bag. They have been keeping the hummers away. Get an occasion coati (whatever that is, looks like a cross between an anteater and a raccoon).
no, norma it is not a hummer, some other kind of bird. Like he said, size of a sparrow or something.
Sound at black stork nest is great, too--can hear a bee/wasp buzzing!
Dana and Sissy, try this site:
Ecuador birds
The bird you might be trying to find is the 4th from the bottom, I think.
that is it, a green honeycreeper, thanks so much Deb. Dana and I have both been trying to find that.
Good, it is a very pretty bird. There are a lot of pretty birds on that page.
That's a BEAUTIFUL BIRD!!!---I'm glad you found it!!!---something like that can drive one NUTS!!!!
FOOD TIME---later!
Right normabyrd, i obsess till i figure it out. Can't stop looking, don't get nothing done, stuff like that!!

She does this work at her home by donations, but want6s to start a clinic & wondered if I wanted to work there!
