There is a virtual FISH BUFFET in the nest now. Three nice fish and Tiny has one all to himself now. I think they are all happy campers, including Mom & Dad.
Dad just left and Mom is feeding Middy or Pearl. (I think it is Middy; Pearl is more agressive) JMHO. Whoever it is, it's wonderful to witness this part of Nature.
So I am sure everyone knows who is fledge and who is number three so that when one takes off we will know what just happened LOL. Hopefully it will look like a first flight instead of the pro like effect we saw with fledge number one. :)
Well I was hoping maybe Suzanne had made it to the other thread to, but the minute I signed on stuff started happening so just went back to type two words and get you all over. Well I am glad its friday and Suzanne will see many of you tomorrow. She will feel as home in the nest as whoever returned now feels as they dine with the family.
I have really enjoyed watching this morning----TODAY--these EAGLETS have reminded me so very much of our last crew!---AREN'T WE PRIVILEDGED TO BE ALLOWED TO WATCH THIS EAGLE FAMILY!!!!!-----STEVE--WE OWE YOU FOLKS!!---BIG TIME!!---

It's really good to see first fledgling return. I had hoped to be there tomorrow to see them first hand but plans have changed and I will not make it. I sure wanted to meet y'all. Maybe another time.
As I said in the previous entry, the signs were there that something was happening but you can never be sure.
But at 5:30 pm CDT, there was a "shift change" ( a reluctant one, I must say) and sure enough, there was a CHICK!
I am so sorry that the weather has not cooperated to give you a clear picture but the rain on the camera lens is fogging the view.
But if you look closely, you will see the empty eggshell off to the left side of the loon. And although right now you will have to take my word for it, there IS a CHICK under the loon right now!!
Now we wait for the second egg to hatch.
Thank you for being a part of this drama and soap opera! Who said that they don't make good television any more?!!!
Keep watching to see what happens next and hopefully the storms will pass us by (there are more predicted for tonight and tomorrow morning, possibly severe) and the rain on the camera lens will dry off! Questions or Comments? LoonCam@yahoo.com
MITS - thanks for the Loon Chick update...I missed most everything but the NCTC Eagles Action yesterday, squeezing that in with trying to sleep and work. Checking it a little now then have to sleep again. So sorry to all who have had storm damage.
LOLLY---I'm wishing you a pain free day!!-----Wonderful to hear you are feeling better!!-----(who is making the bread & frying the sausage this am)----ho!-----KIDDIN'-----take care!!!
I agree MAGPIE----One day I did get to see the MALE LOON come to nest & wait until FEMALE decided to 'slide into the water' ---before he wiggled on---could see the eggs!!----I was so tickled to see some movement!!!---
WANDA---I have been watching the BABY LOON----MOM came back---was feeding---'BLOON'---then he decided he wanted under MOM'S wing again!!---HE IS A RIOT!!---Think the other might be hatching---movement of MOM'S back & wings!!!---LOVE 'BLOON'--He thinks he is a BIG CHICK like MOM!!
AWWWWWW--just saw Baby Loon--all black head sticking out. I never did catch the eggs. HELLO Everyone==good to see "tea for two" at our nest. Glad you're feeling better, Lolly! Boss gal called and still no power at our farmhouse exhibit shop--so she said don't come in---going to be 90 w/no AC there.
PA FALCONS SITE!!---First looked as if it had been raining!!---See MOM & DAD!----Think the rest of the CHICKS might be in the hatch box---see a couple!!---hard to seem them when the get packed into the corner!!!---
MORNIN' PAULA!!!---PLEASE IDENTIFY THE EAGLETS---by number---Please---Did #3 stayed in nest?---Which FLEDGER came back?---Which is missing!!----MAYBE WE SHOULD TIE RIBBONS ON THE TOMORROW!!
Good Morning Glo, Sharon, Ceil, Sharon, Mits, Megan, Wanda, Red (sorry you won't be able to come), Magpie, Lolly (glad your feeling better), Nature, Robyn ( have fun at OC), and Paula and anyone I missed.
In case watching Good Morning Carol and Sandra.
I see Lucy and Louie the Loons's have a baby that is very activity. Think Norma called the chicks "Bloon" hee hee.
I see also we have a fledgeling back in the nest. Flying in this morning ( : Good to see back.
Morning Paula. got to get going but I will check in again before I head off to work. My skunks were back again last night. Boy they trashed the patio looking for food. they even tried to tip over the standing bird feeder. Heidi played a Lassie thing again this morning and showed me they are behind the shed in the corner of the lot. I'm calling a trapper.
Darn it, too many people watching the loon cam, I got bumped off- can't get cam back up! adding it to my list of frustrations.... cloudy here right now, keeping us cooler for a while- when that sun pops out, it is gonna be hot!!
GOOD MORNING DEB!!----Some 'ONE' from SD sent me some very rare HILLARY buttons!!!---The one with MT RUSHMORE is rare!---You are too KIND!!!---LOVE YA!!!---will remember you in my will.....WHICH CHILD DO YOU WANT???-----KIDDIN'
Megan for some reason on the loon cam. I always have to hit the play button and refresh. A few times because it never loads all the way. Finally it will come on.
The fledge return video is now being saved. This one needed a little help from a friend but a Capture Team is at your service and soon video will be good to go.
DEB---You can't imagine how much I appreciate your sending them to me!!----I was willing to give you one of my children!!-----ho!---You might not view that as a GOOD THING!!----(kiddin')-----I have collected buttons then since I was a child!!!----(many moons ago)
Are you betting on 'BIG BROWN' AT THE BELMONT?----been teasing JIM about it!!----JIM--last I talked with him----ISN'T QUITE SURE!!!
Dana - you know I am not one to start arguments - I usually am the one that is the mediator I think TINY is right there at 5:00
It really should be Pearl who came back first.... 2 days out.. I don't think we will ever know for sure.. It could be Pearl It could be Middy At least we know we have 2 safe eaglets!
ANNE----There has been trouble with BEARS in WV breaking in homes---or trying to break in for food!!----DNR suggested that one remove their bird feeders for a while!---That may be attracting them to your home!!!----Might be worth a try!!
That's Right--Bloons ride on parents' backs like possums!
Lots of flapping--was it Tiny? Wonder if Middy will leave home again soon. Was trying to find link for Global TV cast to show hubby the Teddy Bear story & the dratted thing gives you today's news. Oh well, no time for 'putering-- guests are a couple hours away.
Sharon is right here. I looked at Baby Littley this morning to find something to identify him/her by when the others came back. This was before the other one came back and I saw the white spot on top of his head. So, that is my story and I am sticking to it! :)
No argument from here Jo....I can't tell them apart now. That's why I was going by Sharon's comment here at 7:52am. I keep seeing the one on the launch pad looking smaller. Like you say we at least have two safe and can see them. Praying the other eaglet is in tree or with Mom and Dad.
No riding on back when Mom came up nor when I see Dad go by. What is up with that? Can anyone else see on the back? I did see Bloon in water swimming when Mom came in.
gosh who would have guessed that we now need Columbo to make a positive eagle ID. We don't have one UFE "unidentified flying eagle" if we are honest we know we actually have 3 of them well two that are flying anyway. Cam is so deceptive size wise but that white spot might help us sort out the fledge from a second nest take off, LOL
Well just went back on this thread. Looked at the "return video" and I believe it says it all. Thanks Sharon and Glo great video. ( : ( : ***** It's a "five star" video lol
I have things to get done around here I have late pm Dr (foot) app't & then I am having dinner with GIRL FRIENDS! That will be fun!
NORMA When are you traveling to Shepherdstown - tonight or tomorrow? Dana - keep everyone peacefully on their toes the rest of the morning lol Glo - best of luck with the UFE IDing lol Beverly & Thelma - be sure Sharon gets all her work finished today - Don't want her to be late tomorrow! Mattie See you tomorrow! Paula - See you at the Eagle Express
UPDATE: June 6 2008, 10am by Dr. Dave McRuer, Director of Veterinary Medicine at the Wildlife Center of Virginia
The eaglet is back in good spirits again. After starting the patient on a course of butorphanol (an opioid pain medication offering the best known pain relief for birds), the eaglet is now accepting food off the forceps, making force-feeding unnecessary.
The bird continues to be active in its enclosure. Just as if it were in the nest, the eaglet defecates out the cage door, thus keeping the nest clean.
We have taken the eaglet off its antibiotics and will be repeating blood work today to assess the white blood cell count - an indication of infection status. The bird continues to grow and presently weighs 2.24kg - certainly up from the admitting weight of 1.02kg. The downy feathers have also been mostly replaced with the first layer of contour feathers.
With regard to the pox lesion... it continues to shrink! The nostril is still open and the surface of the mass is much drier and not as raised on the most forward surface. Most encouraging is the fact that the area within the mouth has receded and almost appears normal. We are still planning on surgically removing the mass and are waiting to hear back from potential surgeons.
Finally, we have received the results of our heavy metal and organophosphate panels and I'm happy to report that all were within "normal" limits. This likely indicates that these factors are not a contributing cause to the bird's infection.
Great video Glo and Sharon. Thanks. Nice landing. Good news about Buddy. Thanks Jim for alerting us and Lolly for putting it on the blog. Got to get ready to head for WV. For all who will not be there you will be there in spirit.
Oh Thank You Lolly..That is such wonderful reading. I have a gorgeous picture on its way to my home of one of the parents that I purchased to help with Buddy's care. I couldn't bring myself to purchase anything with Buddy actually on it yet. I want to feel joy and not sorrow when I see it so will wait BUT will eventually order something for my home that has a healthy young spirited eaglet on it. Go Buddy!!!!
I noticed on the video of Middy when she fledged (after watching it several times), she started to take off and then turned around and did a Poop Shoot, then turned around again and launched. LOL
OK moving away from computer now for a couple of hours at least. If cams run I can back track but I will not be here hitting record. Be sure to keep tabs on the guys and gals with and without their names and note white feathers. We want to be sure we know what we are reading when we do a quick read of the Blog when we come in to catch up. Do be good though I thikn Anne Marie is in fact watching..
I think Middy is happy to be "home". She is resting and enjoying it. Tiny, well, he seems a bit restless! It will be interesting to see how many eagles will be in the nest for you tomorrow.
Thanks for the video SHARON & GLO!!-----I heard the BIG BOOM when I was on this am!!!---I think #3 is just 'dumbfounded' by all the coming & goings in the nest this am!!----
I think the third one is there and they both know right where. Both are now worried aobut the fish that might get away if the 3rd one gets into the nest.
Went out to feed the birds..No bears in my neighborhood yet ...just wolves, and when I came back I heard all the noise so here I sit at the computer. Guess I will make a cup of tea. LOL
DEB---Was your weather as BAD as predicted!!---It's up to 85° here & is humid!!---Don't do humid weather well!!!!----Think that is why we are all enjoying the LOON & BLOON this am!!---Even the little one is swimming!!---ho!----
NORMA, Lots and lots of rain in SD, roads under water, a couple of bridges washed out, flooding from east to west. At least 3 tornadoes, with some houses destroyed. Not a good day yesterday in SD. Luckily, here we only had the rain with flooding, no wind or hail damage.
Well you all need to be showing up with binoculars and cameras. You could very well see a fledge tomorrow. Of course you will need to come back to read the BLOG to see if the one that took off had a white spot or not LOL
To all of you not able to attend the Nest Visit - You will be remembered & photos will be taken for you to enjoy. Remember about Oct 18th Open House - Would be great to see you then!

Well I am glad its friday and Suzanne will see many of you tomorrow. She will feel as home in the nest as whoever returned now feels as they dine with the family.

Good to see you Megan but I feel so badly just picturing what you are dealing with. Keep cool thoughts about tomorrow to get through today.

Megan, I feel your pain....we have had storms like that here, that have shut down power for days:(
There is a CHICK at the LOON NEST:) Go read Larry's update from yesterday.

The fledge return video is now being saved. This one needed a little help from a friend but a Capture Team is at your service and soon video will be good to go.
Safe journey for those traveling ( :
WHOO HOO!
I SEE BLOON THE LITTLE LOON!
I want to see the little loonies on Mama's or Poppa's back!
Tiny or Little as some call him is doing wing exercising.
Good Morning Jo ( : me too me too
Jo Sharon has shared with us. That the one doing the exercising is Tiny. Sharon said Tiny has a "white spot on top his head".
Getting some wing flapping in the nest!
I bet Tiny knows the sibling is going to take off soon again! Tiny is blocking the launch pad!!
Well I be .... Jo was in and now out...she deleted her comment....vanishing...maybe to the lou lmbo
Ok now Jo is back....am I seeing things. lol
Jo read my comment above yours please ( :
Dana - you know I am not one to start arguments - I usually am the one that is the mediator
I think TINY is right there at 5:00
It really should be Pearl who came back first.... 2 days out.. I don't think we will ever know for sure..
It could be Pearl
It could be Middy
At least we know we have 2 safe
eaglets!
Sharon help.....the one at the launch pad does look smaller. Until the other one goes to the other side of the nest...
Sharon oh Sharon...where is that gal when you need her HELP lol
LOOK AT LOON CAM
Bloon is swimming in water by self.
Mom just got back up on egg.
A video of our fledges return Fledge Return
Sharon is right here. I looked at Baby Littley this morning to find something to identify him/her by when the others came back. This was before the other one came back and I saw the white spot on top of his head. So, that is my story and I am sticking to it! :)
Norma - As the saying goes
'I bet you're busting your buttons'
If you watch the video, you can see the white on Baby Littley's head when the other one is returning! :)
Robyn, were you able to reach the lady at Fern Wildlife Rescue about the turtle?
No argument from here Jo....I can't tell them apart now. That's why I was going by Sharon's comment here at 7:52am. I keep seeing the one on the launch pad looking smaller. Like you say we at least have two safe and can see them. Praying the other eaglet is in tree or with Mom and Dad.
Egg turning at loon nest.
No riding on back when Mom came up nor when I see Dad go by. What is up with that? Can anyone else see on the back? I did see Bloon in water swimming when Mom came in.
Now that loon is a duck & sure knows
how to Waddle Waddle! lol
Susan - Robyn said she had to let the turtle go...she couldn't reach anyone
I am cracking up here .... Sharon I haven't heard that for awhile....
"That is my story and I'm sticking to it". I love that saying lol
Parent arrives in our nest.
gosh who would have guessed that we now need Columbo to make a positive eagle ID. We don't have one UFE "unidentified flying eagle" if we are honest we know we actually have 3 of them well two that are flying anyway. Cam is so deceptive size wise but that white spot might help us sort out the fledge from a second nest take off, LOL
Parent just landed w/ fish. Immediately mantled by eaglet!!
Looks like Middy and Tiny in the nest to me.
GLO & SHARON
The video is perfect as was the landing! Don't know why we were even concerned about the return trip!
Thanks so much for capturing it!
Awww, Belle feeding Middy
You can see all the white on Tiny's tail now
Thanks for video ladies. Nice landing by Middy.
Hmmm, I think that's Lib in the nest...not Belle
You are very welcome! Thanks Glo.
Well just went back on this thread. Looked at the "return video" and I believe it says it all. Thanks Sharon and Glo great video. ( : ( : ***** It's a "five star" video lol
Norma where did Bloon go?
OK EAGLE WATCHERS & LOON LOOKERS
I have things to get done around here I have late pm Dr (foot) app't & then
I am having dinner with GIRL FRIENDS!
That will be fun!
NORMA When are you traveling to Shepherdstown - tonight or tomorrow?
Dana - keep everyone peacefully on their toes the rest of the morning lol
Glo - best of luck with the UFE IDing lol
Beverly & Thelma
- be sure Sharon gets all her work finished today - Don't want her to be late tomorrow!
Mattie See you tomorrow!
Paula - See you at the Eagle Express
I think it is Lib also.
He is going to start choking again if he doesn't slow it down!
GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE...
Looks (and sounds) like all the males are back home this morning. The young are getting fed and shown how to properly dissect a fish.
How are you all?? Think the Little Un will fledge today?
C(°ï®¡°)D
Jim
I saw an adult at Kent when I signed on, but he's gone now.
And you might have seen it, but there's an update on the Norfolk eaglet... Looking up.

Good Morning Jim ( :

Great News!!!!
UPDATE: June 6 2008, 10am
by Dr.
Thanks for the update Lolly!
Update on Buddy WHoo HOo!!
Come on little feller
Poop Shoots are an inborn instinct I guess!!!!

Jo, I had to laugh at that too!
JO---I am arriving tomorrow am.!!
See you soon!!!
Let's continue to light those candles!!!!!
Good morning, Dana, Norma, Paula and Lolly.
C(°ï®¡°)D
Jim
I have always heard never to "sh*t where you eat"!! :)
YEAH, for BUDDY!! Thank you, LOLLY, for the wonderful report. It is nice to hear he is doing so well.
WHOA!! JIM---How much are you placing on BIG BROWN???----
Thanks for the video SHARON & GLO!!-----I heard the BIG BOOM when I was on this am!!!---I think #3 is just 'dumbfounded' by all the coming & goings in the nest this am!!----
Thanks LOLLY for the "update" on BUDDY!!!!---Sounds good---doesn't it!!!
Sure is playing with that fish!
Doesn't seem to know exactly where to start! Acting like it is a toy!
Something out there distracting
I think the third one is there and they both know right where. Both are now worried aobut the fish that might get away if the 3rd one gets into the nest.
Hey, wasn't that a Pearl touchdown and departure?
Went out to feed the birds..No bears in my neighborhood yet ...just wolves, and when I came back I heard all the noise so here I sit at the computer. Guess I will make a cup of tea. LOL
DEB---Was your weather as BAD as predicted!!---It's up to 85° here & is humid!!---Don't do humid weather well!!!!----Think that is why we are all enjoying the LOON & BLOON this am!!---Even the little one is swimming!!---ho!----
GLO---Bet #3 misses having the nest all alone with MOM!!---heck--he isn't getting any special attention now!!!!
I missed whatever went on
Trying to see eaglet under cam
I am looking for his white spot
Can see the white spot
May not be the same one
CONFUSING TO SAY THE LEAST
I'll be glad when they all 3 decide to be in the nest at one time.
WOW, encouraging news about Buddy!! Thx, Lolly.
I've been lighting a candle every night, but will do another now!
BTW, I'm rooting for Big Brown & hope his feet hold up, then they should plz retire him so there's no more damage.
I need to get to work too---going to SHEPHERDSTOWN in early morn.---
I need to get some things done too, before I leave in 2 hours!!!!
I AGREE NATURENUT!!---Wouldn't that be GREAT!!---It's been a long time!!!
HELEN---Are you all going today?---
yes, Norma, we are:)
Hey Wanda - that's a good sign that an eagle or eaglet is about to fly - you know they gotta lighten the load!!
I am worried about Big Brown's ankles also. Really going to be bad impression on racing if something happens to him..........
COME ON BIG BROWN
BRING HOME THE CROWN
NORMA, Lots and lots of rain in SD, roads under water, a couple of bridges washed out, flooding from east to west. At least 3 tornadoes, with some houses destroyed. Not a good day yesterday in SD. Luckily, here we only had the rain with flooding, no wind or hail damage.
LOL, I like that! Lighten the load.
Look like rain and wind on the lake at the loom cam.
Golly....it is going to quiet with all of you gone. :(
Have a WONDERFUL time!!!!!!
Well you all need to be showing up with binoculars and cameras. You could very well see a fledge tomorrow. Of course you will need to come back to read the BLOG to see if the one that took off had a white spot or not LOL
GRAB YOUR CANE NORMA lol
To all of you not able to attend the Nest Visit - You will be remembered & photos will be taken for you to enjoy. Remember about Oct 18th Open House - Would be great to see you
then!
