We have had lots of rain, again, in the last few days. It is supposed to rain again this afternoon. Norma, you wouldn't like the wind today, steady at 30 mph, with larger gusts.
May sound crazy---but in our area---We have had 'spotty' rain! ---only raining in certain areas----moves on another few miles then rain there!!----now our folks are wanting rain!!
THANKS FOR THE NEW THREAD, STEVE, AND THE HEADSUP, DEB......just talked to Ceil, they are in Nebraska, went thru a terrible storm yesterday, says she has never seen a sky so black, traffic came to a complete halt...she sounds terrible....throat still hurts...
ANY MICHAEL FELDMAN fans???? He will be broadcasting from CHARLESTON, WV this am at 11:00!!---(PNR)--He is very SHARP & FUNNY!!----I think MEGAN is a fan---but this is a busy day for her!!
Did they go through Omaha, Helen? I thought about them last night, they had really bad winds there yesterday. Two teenagers killed by a falling tree in Council Bluffs, IA.
Norma she should have called her doctor back home yesterday, to find out results of the strep test, she is trying to make it to Oregon, I told her to try and find an open clinic to get a fast strep test, and get on some antibiotics....
YEAH!!!---I bet they are going to have a 'BALL' banding the OSPREYS!!That would be so much fun to watch!!----When they banded the FLACONS---Loved watching their EYES!!
she says they are seeing falcons, but not much else, my older sister Mary Margaret was driving at the time of the storm, so she was calm, she has done two cross country trips back and forth in her lifetime....Ceil was less then calm...poor thing and my brother-in -law is ok too
GOOGLE HIM HELEN!!---He has a weekly program every Sat. am on NPR (national broadcasting radio)---HE IS GOOD!!---FUNNY---FUNNY!!---Today he will broadcast from CHARLESTON, WV!--The show revolves around a trivia contest, etc--He interacts with players, mingles & is VERY FUNNY!---always has a big audience--he has them joining in!!---They call in too!!---HE IS REALLY COOL!!!--
Storms here can be very intense. My niece was visiting one year during a bad storm; she was so upset and couldn't understand why we were so calm about it. It was just a bad thunderstorm to us, but she is from CA and was terrified.
There are some really pretty parts of Nebraska, if you can get away from the interstate. The drive across NE on I80 is pretty blah for the most part, but once you get out into the state it is very pretty.
WHOA!!---DEB!---I think you should be on the payroll of the SD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE!!-----You certainly made me fall in love with your state!!--PLUS--MT RUSHMORE & TOM BROKAW too!--ho!
Nothing beats my home, but isn't that how everyone feels! I love the wide open spaces. I enjoy visiting big cities, but a week is about all I can take and then I need to get out where you can see for miles.
When the Cornhuskers were really good, sales in the state would decline if they lost. Depression would go up after they lost a game. I don't know what it is like now that they aren't doing so well, maybe people are realizing it is just a game.
They won't go through any more big cities until Cheyenne, they could see a doctor there I would think, on a Saturday. North Platte is small, but they should have something, too. They won't have much for cell phone coverage at times.
DEB!!---I hate to admit---but that's the way it is in WV!!---The WHOLE STATE CRIES when they lose---& every kid in the state is wearing 'GOLD & BLUE' when they WIN!!!!
PROGAM has started!! FELDMAN is making fun of all the MOTTO WV HAS!!---WILD WONDERFUL, ETC.----they are loving him!!---PROGRAM is called 'WHATTA YOU KNOW?'
I looked at Lisa's pic she posted - that is awesome - don't see how the photographer captured it! The eagle looks baffled as to how to get the hitchkhiker off of him! lol
Watching EJ and see that there are now just the 2 live osprey chicks in the nest. They said she would remove it.
I guess we will also have some rain showers if you're already getting some, Norma.
I'm pulling one of Mits' tricks - I forgot what I wanted to tell you! lol
IRIS emailed me... I had said I missed her the past couple of days & she reminded me of something she had told me before.... ..We are currently in Georgia visiting Son and grandchildren and have another grandchild from Michigan with us.. So we have been very busy . Should be back online and back to "normal" by Tuesday..
Good Morning again... Deb, without looking at a map to know where Rapid City is in relation to Vermillion, thought I would give you (and others) a little Tid-Bit. On July 3rd, in Rapid City, a gentleman named FRANK BUCKLES, will be presented with the Mount Rushmore flag as part of the memorial's Independence Day oservance. MR. BUCKLES is 107 years old and is the only living veteran of WWI. He lives in SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV, home of our Flying Mountaineers.
Helen, what a wonderful idea. Will have to work on that possibility. PHOTO OP! He aparently loves the publicity he's been getting. Has his pic in the jounal at least once a week for some award or another. I think he would LOVE us!
There is a huge fireworks display, music, etc all on the Third. It is a huge day for Mount Rushmore. They are already getting set up. Here is what was on the news yesterday about the fireworks:
Even my sister who grew up in SD has forgotten what storms are like. I was in CA during a rain storm once and they thought it was so bad. It was just wind and rain.
Hello all! Yes, Paula...Nat's beat the O's!! Yippee! Hope they can do it again tonight. I was an O's fan after Senators left DC until Nat's came into being!! Of course, Cal, Jr. was a big attraction.
Helen...hope that Ceil sees doc soon. If it is strep, nothing to mess around with! Tell her to gargle w/ warm salt water and to get some good ol' fashioned Aspergum (as long as she isn't allergic to aspirin!). Both may help until she gets meds.
Speaking of Frank Buckles...actually he lives at Gap View Farm on Rt. 9 near Ranson. Drive by there whenever I go to youngest daughters'. Good bio info at Wikipedia, and he has his own website: www.frankbuckles.org Indicates that he does autographs and interviews. But I dare say we better hurry if we want to meet him. At 107, ya' don't put things off!!!
We're BBAAAAAAACK!!!!! Some of us that is who don't travel far! FANTASTIC excursion & we got to take the new, huge, covered pontoon boat!!!Lots of rainwater in the other & Greg didn't want to bail. Suz, Bob & another lady from the main group, Featherheads, were the first one's there, so I had hers take a pic of we 3 in front of the Vis. Ctr. Most of the others are from around Annapolis. We only banded chicks in 2 nests, but visited others, particularly one HUGE chick that was an only child. This one had the little velcro-like hooks on feet to hold fish. (It has a more techie name I can't remember) Greg lets everyone take turns holding chicks & he got Bob to hold the large one & took his pic w/Bob's camera. On the way out, Suz & I pulled over on the entrance road so we could see the eagle nest from my secret woodsy spot. MT of course. She & I went to Wendy's for salads & her travels were exactly the way I go home!!! Had her follow me to the Beltway, 495. P.S. On the river, Greg noticed that the lid on one of the wood duck boxes had blown open & he wanted to close it. As we approached Mom duck flew out!!! we all got to look in the box & get pics of the eggs--9 I think. They were about the same size as chickens---depends on age of duck & if she's laid before. So that's my report and I'm stickin' to it!!!! Film at 11 if we're lucky!
Just a quick pop in and then off to dinner. Had a great time on the osprey banding trip. I believe Suzanne and Loretta did as well. We took the big pontoon boat so it had shade and there was room to move around. Everyone got to hold an osprey. It's going to take a day or two to process all the pictures but I'll let you know as soon as I do.
So good to hear from BOB and LORETTA. Wish Suz could have checked in with us. (I'm sure she will e-mail us on Monday) Those three Nature Lovers will have some great photos for us and some stories to tell. Sooo exciting; can't wait for photos!

Those were great pictures that Lisa has posted. I hope the day goes great for Suz, Bob and Loretta. That would be so exciting to help band the osprey.

Did they go through Omaha, Helen? I thought about them last night, they had really bad winds there yesterday. Two teenagers killed by a falling tree in Council Bluffs, IA.
who is Michael Feldman?
Norma she should have called her doctor back home yesterday, to find out results of the strep test, she is trying to make it to Oregon, I told her to try and find an open clinic to get a fast strep test, and get on some antibiotics....
I had the same question, Helen, I guess we aren't fans.
YEAH!!!---I bet they are going to have a 'BALL' banding the OSPREYS!!That would be so much fun to watch!!----When they banded the FLACONS---Loved watching their EYES!!
she said it was happening right as they were coming into Nebraska, and she knew about the deaths from the news.
lol.....guess not...I think I remember a Marty Feldman;)
Deb they are in Kearney, Nebraska, she thinks..
That would be Omaha, then. Council Bluffs is across the river from Omaha. The Missouri River separates the two towns.
she says they are seeing falcons, but not much else, my older sister Mary Margaret was driving at the time of the storm, so she was calm, she has done two cross country trips back and forth in her lifetime....Ceil was less then calm...poor thing and my brother-in -law is ok too
I lived in Kearney for 4 years. They live and breath football, life comes to a standstill when the Cornhuskers are playing.
Beautiful Nebraska, peaceful prairieland,
Laced with many rivers, and the hills of sand;
Dark green valleys cradled in the earth,
Rain and sunshine bring abundant birth.
Nebraska State Song
No kidding Deb, you did, I'm surprised they are as far as they are

HELEN---If you want to see FELDMAN---GOOGLE---pages--
I agree, Deb, we all love our hometowns,....they are pretty much sticking to the Interstates just so they can get there..I'm still worried about her.
Even I have watched the 'CORNHUSKERS'-----they certainly know how to play BALL!!
When the Cornhuskers were really good, sales in the state would decline if they lost. Depression would go up after they lost a game. I don't know what it is like now that they aren't doing so well, maybe people are realizing it is just a game.

Mt Rushmore
Good Morning again!
If you like it humid out, today is your day!
Geesh, the Doc didn't give Ceil any antibiotics?
Hey, Deb, I understand why your niece was so worried. They just don't get thunderstorms out in CA like we get.
The Nats beat the O's last night
Ok, time to go back out and get hot and sticky. Gotta get my work done early...
DIL and grandsons coming for dinner tonight and to see the local fireworks!
Even my sister who grew up in SD has forgotten what storms are like. I was in CA during a rain storm once and they thought it was so bad. It was just wind and rain.
Hey Norma, WHatdya know- I love Michael Feldman! rarely hear the show anymore.. rain missed us here, wasn't much around..HELLO all:) later gators, gotta make bouquets for tomorrow...
Anyone else notice the black thingy on horsie?
Hi and Goodbye our Daisy eating Gal!
Nest looks nice and shady now...think all the leaves have finally come in :)
Good afternoon all. I have been sitting here catching up on the blogs and watching two cute little flamingo chicks at the Zoo.
It doesn't look like anyone has had a live cam on yet at our nest today? I can never seem to get it to open anymore.
It is very hot and humid today here with the smoke from the fires still filling the air. Another good day to stay in and keep cool.
No RP here either Candy...
One in the nest this morning..
Hot and Sticky here today too
