WOOD DUCK UPDATE Jun 30, 2008 - The female was out of the nest for the hatching of the first two eggs but came back soon after. These eggs will hatch over the next couple hours and the nestlings will fledge tomorrow morning!
Wow I looked up at Flamingo cam and thought babdy was in water. It said they could swim. Never said how old. Though it wasn't in the water just looked like it.
Helen--glad Ceil doesn't have strep, but bronchitis or pneumonia isn't good, either. Glad he put her on the Z-Pak--hope she picks it up as soon as gets there!
Dana--baby flamingo was in the water yesterday...over by the water pipe!
Well, cool, thanks Eagle Eye- hadn't checked the real player in days. Hello all:) rain showers on and off all day here and at nest. Another line of showers headed our way. Nice, calm rain so far today. Thanks to Bob for sharing his pictures. Looks like everyone had a great time. Several years ago we had a squirrel drink a whole hummingbird feeder. Then he ran around the yard for hours like a crazy animal.. lol... I think that day he chewed off the primer button on the lawn mower.. weird.. the moral of this story is do not feed squirrels sugar. Later gators, got to get back to work.
As many different reports and as many different doctors as I transcribe, I feel like I know more than some. Can come up with the diagnosis from the beginning of the dictation!
Youngest grandson had a fever and a headache, along with a rash. His mom took him to the doctor and he said he didn't know what was wrong with him. When his mom asked what to do for him, the doctor said, "I don't know, he is just a kid with a fever and a rash. Charged her a huge fee and sent them both home.
My 'puter is still going on and off. I think our neighbors power lines must be entangled with the verizon lines, maybe have caused a loose connection. I repeat my statement from Saturday night; what would this town do if we had a terrorist attack. Many are still without electricity. This was just a severe storm, not a catagory 5 hurricane!
Sorry to hear about all your trouble Wanda. We have really been blessed with these storms, no serious damage or power outages. Hopefully they will get everything straightened out soon. For all the talk about disaster preparedness, still have a long way to go, don't we?
Hi Sissy - Hi MITS Hi Wanda - I was supposed to be off Tuesday but am covering a shift for someone else..then I will be off Wed, Thurs, and Fri, but all the supervisors have to be "on call" on a holiday week-end....so I have to stay close... but at least I can watch the computer stuff and get out and do a little birdwatching and wildflower discovering....if I show up for work in my bib overalls I guess they will just be the way it is.. xo xo HOW ABOUT THOSE WOODIES?
Getting dark at the hummer feeder, no action now. That is one active place all day, with the coatis, green whatever those birds were, hummers, bees, etc.
Mits, you're right, when there is no movement in the nest, my RP straightened right out. Don't care about seeing it live when it is empty. I wanna see it when the babies and parents are there. Seems like that is when it goes out everytime.
Gosh, magpie, that really got me thinking. You know that had to be chaos in it's truest form and how awful it must have been for those people. That has to be one of the most stressful jobs in the world.
This storm on Saturday night came upon us with practically no warning...We had almost 80 active calls on the screen within 20 minutes of it hitting...hardest hit areas were Gerrardstown, Inwood, Bunker Hill, and down in the area where you live, Wanda. 15 utility poles were snapped off like toothpicks out in Gerrardstown...I trust that at least the electricity was cut off on those lines near you..for safety, I think a lot of the "first strikes" by the Power crews must have been doing just that...Are those lines still "live" at your neighbors? Geez, hope not! That is scary!
I just got a chance to watch that quail hatch. That is such hard work for those little birds. Want to help but I know that would be disastrous. Sometimes it is hard not to want to intervene, thinking we are helping when we really are hurting.
Well, all you beautiful people, I am getting away from this computer for the evening. Everyone sleep tight and don't let the bedbugs bite, see you in the morning light. Two more work days before going to the lake. Big 31st wedding anniversary on the 4th of July!! See ya in the morning!!
omg!! My first facial. I won't get a wink of sleep tonight because of the excitement. I have seen the miracles it works on everyone else! I am so excited!
Wanda, Do you remember Dr. Rodgers? He also said that teething didn't cause pain and fever! I didn't use him because I already knew how he was from the hospital but if it had been me/my kid I would have said "then you take her home for 24 hrs."!!!
Hello Everyone--Busy day!! Haven't read everything, but saw Deb & Bob's pics. BEAUTIFUL.Read Bob's squirrel story & I have pics of just those antics that occured last summer at Park, but Blogger wouldn't load them 3 times!!!! Baby Robin Report; One didn't make it thru the night, but Peppy got the 7AM worm breakfast. After checking rehabs online late last night & making several phones in AM, got in touch w/the best that's closest to us.She said since I was out of worms, it could tempo. eat soaked cat or dog crunchies.Had Purina Cat Chow!I had heard another youngster way back in yard & seen a robin parent. We speculated whether that adult would feed him. I decided not to let him loose, as I might not be able to feed him if he wandered too far away & didn't know size of other youngster. We both had appts. so I called her back at 1:30. In meantime, hubby wanted to keep him since he could eat cat food!Lady said (Thank God)there are Fed. Rules against keeping migratory birds & cat food is NOT a suitable diet.So Peppy in his bin and I headed down the road, about 30 miles.I am so relieved he is in good hands and will surely make it.She had him in a cage w/twig perch and a bowl of TINY somethings & he had been sitting in a larger bowl (these simulate nests.)Before I left, he jumped up on edge of bowl! She does this work at her home by donations, but want6s to start a clinic & wondered if I wanted to work there!
stupid weather channel has cancelled a severe thunderstorm warning.....HA.....looking out my window.....looks pretty severe to me...going outside to lay furniture down
Margy, don't know if the lines are live or not. Not taking anybody's word for it. Our garbage can blew down the road and is tangled up in the wires; it will stay there til the lines get fixed.
LYNN...I do remember Dr. Rogers. Was not fond of him and was quite happy when Dr. Arnett came to town. My youngest daughter, Karla, was very ill when she was about 11 or 12 and he came to our house to care for her!! Bet he doesn't do that now. LOL
Hey Margy, can only imagine how stressful that day was for all of those emergency workers. Glad you weren't one of them, because I would hate for you to have to live with those memories. I bet that it was still a very stressful day for you, even here.
Nice gentle rain now...the kind we need. And the lightening bugs must love it--there are so many out here. "Turn on your night light, let it glow, wherever you go, for all the world to see"--oh no! Manilow!!
No Wood Duckies for me either, hope the site will open up in the morning before I leave for work. Sacking out early tonight. Hope all is well with everyone in Eagle Land.
So many great pictures to see on all the sites posted. Who Needs TV?? Thanks for all the good stuff!
Prayers for all, for comfort, joy, serenity, peace, wellness, and strength for whatever comes your way.
We just had a whopper cell of a storm! The first one was OK! Gotta AWWWWWW story from the rehab lady's place. She had a cage with a nest bowl containing over 6 tinies that must have just hatched. Also in there was a really small duckling. The little duck went over and sat on the tiny birds like it was Mom!
HEY MOVIN! It's always a treat to see your postings, usually the last ones of the night....and I am often the first one up on my work days....just BLOGGING can be physically active for us all.

Had 6 deer visit me yesterday evening-velvet antlers. One looked like it just had lost its spots. I didn't have my camera and off they leaped into the woods. Then later on they came back and i got pics and video. Buddy enjoyed the visit too. LOL It is a cool morning, no humidity, here in Bedford. A nice way to great the new month.

WOOD DUCK UPDATE
Jun 30, 2008 -
The female was out of the nest for the hatching of the first two eggs but came back soon after. These eggs will hatch over the next couple hours and the nestlings will fledge tomorrow morning!
THANKS, DANA, WILL PASS ON YOU GOOD WISHES:)
that should be "your good wishes"
When several are there I've snapped a picture. It shows them larger. So you can see better.
The all green one looks like the one when you click on more Green Honeycreeper photos.
Wow I looked up at Flamingo cam and thought babdy was in water. It said they could swim. Never said how old. Though it wasn't in the water just looked like it.
Good to see one of our babies relaxing in the nest!
fell off the thread!! Thanks Steve.
Sissy did you break anything?
no, but I think I lost something (my mind, I really miss it)!! :)
HEY---Why do we have a new thread?
Thanks for the new thread & the pic! Always makes me happy when I see our kids in the nest!
Going to get my 3:00 cup of coffee.
Need to check out some of the cams..
Thanks for the WOOD DUCK UPDATE!
Kent eagle cams are frozen on 6/29 pm
Both eaglets at LW now
Definitely only 1 osprey chick that I can see on the Wild Watch
Because we are so special, Norma
Steve probably did it when he posted the new picture - you know....
Kill 2 birds with 1 stone...Arghhhhhh I can't believe I said that..........
I want to be a panda when i grow up. Talk about no worries!!
I KNOW HELEN!!---Today everyone gets to be #1 EAGLE MOM or EAGLE DAD???
Hummm my "live picture taking" at the rainforest webccam won't let me take any pics now. I close the page and reopened but still a no. Oh well....
lol Jo I can't believe you said that either lol
BWO they are really working on filling that box up Hey your suppose to migrate soon!! Didn't you two read the manual on Ospreys ( :
Well practice makes prefect...so for when they come back to BW next season those 2 Osprey will have nest building down pat. lol
Helen--glad Ceil doesn't have strep, but bronchitis or pneumonia isn't good, either. Glad he put her on the Z-Pak--hope she picks it up as soon as gets there!
Dana--baby flamingo was in the water yesterday...over by the water pipe!
2 Juvies in nest at Delta one is eating.
Jo, did you get a picture of both eaglets at LW? I saw a parent and one eaglet. One eaglet standing now.
I didn't Deb.... Sorry
The eaglet that is up and at the tenish position (doing wing flaps) is the one about which I think we were concerned
Lots of little wood duckies around the mama.... I bet I miss them again tomorrow morning doing their great escape!!!
Headed out for couple hours
BBL
Deb where is LW site? I probably have it but can't seem to find it at this time.
Jo, I sent an e-mail to Loraine letting her know Kent cams were down.....

Our juvie is still in our nest ( :
Another blowing winds & thunder & lighting starting!---BYE!

Who's Daphne?
Mits, Daphne was one of Glo's dogs that she had to have put down a couple of weeks ago.
osprey at BWO
One of our younguns has the mantling art down pat!
oh, sorry, Glo:(
pretty birdies
Glo has put up a memorial web site for her Daphne. Several cute photos and a place to light a candle
http://www.daffydaphne.pets-memories.com/
Sorry I deleted my first post about Glo's Daphne. I lost my mind again and forgot the link. :)
looks like rain to the west and east of nest, heading north
Did anyone know our live feed is up?
WE DO NOW......THANKS, SHARON
still 2 in the nest....cam a little shaky
both osprey at WW cam
Still two in nest...a bit of mantling going on. Now cam very fuzzy....probably stormy there, as it is here.
And that goes to show you that too much sugar can make you climb the walls.
Made my grandsons do the same thing. Doctor said that wasn't so.
DON'T TELL ME THAT STUFF!
Contrary to popular belief, doctors do not know everything, even though they certainly think they do!
That is "USED TO DO THE SAME THING". They are 21 and 14 now.
Sharon, they charge a fee as if they know EVERYTHING!
But my pay does not reflect any of that! :)
Saw a parent come in and now all three babies are in the nest!
Two eaglets, live feed, and a nest full of Wood Ducklets! Now, that is nice to come home to.
Hello Everyone!
MEMA - I will probably miss the fledging in the morning too..have to be a work for the 5th of five ten hour + days...
Oh, well, there will always be a good video that someone will get for us....
MAKE THAT THREE JUVIES RIGHT NOW !

IS THE MOTHER WOODY ON THE NEST? OR ARE THOSE EGGS JUST HATCHING AND HATCHING ///SO DARK, THE LITTLE TYKES...
Funny how the cam settles down when all the Juvenile Static leaves the nest!
HI MITS - - !!!
hello, Margy:)
My RP is trashed again. Poop!!
Hey magpie!! How many days off will you get in a row?
My 'puter is still going on and off. I think our neighbors power lines must be entangled with the verizon lines, maybe have caused a loose connection. I repeat my statement from Saturday night; what would this town do if we had a terrorist attack. Many are still without electricity. This was just a severe storm, not a catagory 5 hurricane!
Sissy, mine never did come on.
Margy, I guess that means you will have the 4th off? I would imagine that is a busy day for 911.
Sorry to hear about all your trouble Wanda. We have really been blessed with these storms, no serious damage or power outages. Hopefully they will get everything straightened out soon. For all the talk about disaster preparedness, still have a long way to go, don't we?
Hi Sissy -
Hi MITS
Hi Wanda -
I was supposed to be off Tuesday but am covering a shift for someone else..then I will be off Wed, Thurs, and Fri, but all the supervisors have to be "on call" on a holiday week-end....so I have to stay close...
but at least I can watch the computer stuff and get out and do a little birdwatching and wildflower discovering....if I show up for work in my bib overalls I guess they will just be the way it is..
xo xo HOW ABOUT THOSE WOODIES?
Getting dark at the hummer feeder, no action now. That is one active place all day, with the coatis, green whatever those birds were, hummers, bees, etc.
Sometimes I try to imagine what it was like to be a 911 dispatcher in New York City on Sept 11...and how many got out of the profession after that....
Mits, you're right, when there is no movement in the nest, my RP straightened right out. Don't care about seeing it live when it is empty. I wanna see it when the babies and parents are there. Seems like that is when it goes out everytime.
I imagine it was a living nightmare, Margy
Gosh, magpie, that really got me thinking. You know that had to be chaos in it's truest form and how awful it must have been for those people. That has to be one of the most stressful jobs in the world.
Sissy, I think the juvies like to jump up and down on the cam...:)
they probably are laughing their little beaks off
This storm on Saturday night came upon us with practically no warning...We had almost 80 active calls on the screen within 20 minutes of it hitting...hardest hit areas were Gerrardstown, Inwood, Bunker Hill, and down in the area where you live, Wanda.
That is scary!
off to do more work around the condo...bbl.
Green honeycreeper, that is the name of that bird on the hummer feeder all the time. Had to go back and look. Can't do that in a chat room, can ya?
Believe it or not, but I just got my live feed back up!
beautiful pic at Finney's nest, fog in the woods behind them
mine has been shaky, but has never gone down
Tried to refresh on the Wood Duck site, lost it altogether, now cannot get it to open back up!
WAH !
I just got a chance to watch that quail hatch. That is such hard work for those little birds. Want to help but I know that would be disastrous. Sometimes it is hard not to want to intervene, thinking we are helping when we really are hurting.
would someone send me the link to that finney nest ya'll are talking about. I am sure I had it somewhere but I don't now.
You'll probably get it a few times, Sissy:
http://kotinetti.suomi.net/saaksi/index.php
Three chicks in it. The camera was down for about a week, and the picture was actually a little better before than now...but it's still real nice.
Both parents at WildWatch Osprey, very hard to tell what is going on there, chick-wise, but it seems only one...and that one is hard to see..
thanks magpie. mits that really is a great picture.

I see two little bobbleheads!

Loretta, would you like me to bring it over for you?
GOOD GIRL, PAULA.
I am home again. There were three eggs at the WW osprey nest, so it is possible there are now two heads.
I can see the computer screen again without taking off my glasses! It is nice to see clearly once again.
OH NO!! Encountered another Error---Cornell Wd Duck cam won't open--prob. too busy!

WOW, Thank you, you great techies!! Sorry it's so long--sometimes I write what I might be telling someone on the phone, I think.
It is a beautiful 70° here in Eburg. AC is off and the windows and doors are open! Nice breeze too!
I am hoping our little stinkers make a late night showing!
LOL
Nature - sorry the one chick didn't make it, but glad at least one did. You done good!
Hey Margy, can only imagine how stressful that day was for all of those emergency workers. Glad you weren't one of them, because I would hate for you to have to live with those memories. I bet that it was still a very stressful day for you, even here.
Been raining here and at the nest for about 35-40 minutes now. Nice quiet rain, no wind, no thunder and lightning:)- still working...
shutting down storm that is not supposed to be here, is right on top of us...later.
We had the same rain as Megan around 6PM. Must have gotten violent on Eastern Shore.
Nice gentle rain now...the kind we need. And the lightening bugs must love it--there are so many out here. "Turn on your night light, let it glow, wherever you go, for all the world to see"--oh no! Manilow!!
Blogger let me put on crazy squirrel pics---Tee Hee
Still can't get in to wood ducks.
Ha Ha, those pics are funny, Nature!
Anyone tried out the new Yahoo mail? Has a nice look...sort of like Outlook!
No Wood Duckies for me either, hope the site will open up in the morning before I leave for work. Sacking out early tonight. Hope all is well with everyone in Eagle Land.
