Seen a good commercial on tv. To help save the earth from plastic. Cleaners instead of throwing your empty bottle away. You buy this small concentrated. Fill your emplty with so much water and add this. Bingo got your cleaner again.
Mornin, Wanda, Norma, Ceil, Mits, Dana and Sissy ... so far.
You're all bright and shiny as a new dime this morning. I like your pics, Wanda. It's just too bad for the industry back there that nobody in the group likes crab or crab legs!
PAULA---I slept in too this am!!--- till 8:00 ---I haven't done that in years!!-----We had our county 'Relay for Life' last night & I think I am----'way' out of shape!!----walked too many laps!!
You know, I thought that pic looked like me from the rear, but I remembered somebody on the blog was married to a "Jim," so I figure that's who it was.

Did anyone mention that there's a hacking tower video of the two eaglets on Santa Cruz Island??
Posted late yesterday. Very interesting. I think the Survivor from No. Cal. is a female, but she's not very dominant ... maybe she's younger than the PH eaglet, which is the male with the ripped beak.
I've got to make some moves toward the laundry room .. if it's open.
Last night I put two loads in the washers, but I was locked out before I returned for the dryer cycle.
I guess technically it's supposed to close at 10 p.m., which it did last night, but most guards leave it till 11 on weekends, and some don't lock it at all. I just got unlucky last night.
I'll probably smell better in this heat with some clean underwear.... Just a guess though.
A lot smaller than yesterday, Paula. I want to go see how many are in the bushes this morning, but I will wait and come up with a way to check from a distance.
By the way I had gone back on other comments I made. Of course I made a MISTAKE can you imagine that. Flamingo chicks are not fed for 3 months duh it is 3 WEEKS. Sorry
PAULA---I didn't mean to sound like I was correcting you---I just finished watching it!---I am a NEWS HOUND!!---I like BROKAW better than BRIAN WILLIAMS too!----
The best thing about being the 'last' one to join in on our blog is that I can say one big Good Morning Everyone out there in Eagle land
A beautiful morning here in my valley and over at our nest I'm sure! I hope Megan is having a good market day.
Norma just so I get to tell you and others that Mon June 23 is the birthday of Suzanne's GYPSY. Suz said she would be 5 yrs old. I sent Suz an email for Gypsy - I hope she gets it. I forget what day NatureNut said that Suz was going down to the park to help band the Osprey this year like Paula did the other year.
Deb Just get your binoculars out to check out those bushes!! Get one of those Bee Keepers' hats with the net over the face and get your gloves, long pants & long sleve shirt! Then ATTACK WITH RAID
HI JUSTIN You miss your sister already don't you! Well, I missed not seeing you the other weekend at the Nest Visit! I hope you'll plan to come see everyone in October at the Open House
Wanda and Dana....where do you go for your crabs? Yep, Magpie's working! Hear her on the scanner. Is Megan away or just real busy? Anyone heard from her?
Megan should be in Shepherdstown at the Market... I know we haven't heard from her for a day or two - Sometimes her puter goes down.. I'll think Positive - she's out selling her plants and posies!
Megan was on the other day...she is busy with markets on the weekends, she has Charlestown on Saturday and Shepherdstown on Sunday....but I believe there was a birthday party yesterday for her MIL, I think.
Norma - Thanks for the info...I must not have heard all of it...and I like to learn new things everyday!
I am WRONG AGAIN---PAULA!!----I just watched the news show that TIM RUSSETT hosted--NBC----that's the one WILLIAMS hosted this am---Am watching 'FACE THE NATION' now!----CBS---different show!!!----
JO!!---SUZANNE told me that Fri---I want to make sure we all WISH "GYPSY" a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!---ho!!---She also has all these bird videos & her kittens LOVE to watch them!!---Isn't that FUNNY?
Norma, Tom is a South Dakotan. He is from Yankton, which is 25 miles from me--that's where most of the eagle pics I get are from. He went to school here in Vermillion at USD.
No, I haven't ever seen him. He does come back every once in awhile. He gave Yankton quite a bit of money a few years ago and they used it on a nature trail by the river. USD is where I saw Bill talk, Norma.
Glorious Good Sunday Everyone! Wanda, your pics are great! My live cams down & still rainbow. Was sitting out on deck w/coffee & it's VERY quiet in Magnolia Acres w/baby wrens gone.Put last pics on Fri. nite. Park news--osprey banding will be going on most of next week--Suz is supposed to be there w/a group on Sat. No news of any eagle family spottings.Hope they're all up, up, and away and safe. More coffee outside,,,,
Morning, Wanda, Dana, Norma, Mits, Jim, Ceil Sissy, Paula, Sharon, Jo and Justin and all of Eagleland!
!!!!HAPPY 19th BIRTHDAY ANDREW!!!!
Wanda, that photo is hysterical... if I had only known, I could have lost all my extra weight much earlier in life!!! But, did I forget to remove the facial from my face??? hahahhahhahhaahhahhahaha so funny
Norma, No more days scheduled right now. It was kind of boring! Met a lot of people, but not a lot of buyers! You know that old saying..."it's the economy, stupid"...well, it is evident!!!
Checking back---2 juvies in nest. Severe thunderstorm watch for almost everywhere--WV, MD (western shore), VA until 8 PM.Been beautiful here, but a few clouds now. Wash. Post had article today, pg. A10 about "French Region Saves Iconic White Storks From Brink"!Populatiob hit 270 prs. after dwindling to 9!!! Wow!
Those flamingo nest need baby railing around nest. Seems like eggs hatch and some babies falls out of nest. They seem to try and crawl up the dirt. One has tried all day not getting anywhere. Just watched one looks like almosst back to parents.
Will that baby flamingo be ok? Worry that in the heat/sun he may dehydrate. Has anyone fed him??? Poor little thing. Hearing thunder...guess it's time to shut down here, too! Everyone stay safe!
I don't think flamingo chicks have those long legs at birth like storks do. Cause that one baby used its wings to plow through the dirt to get back to nest. This one that has been out of nest all day yesterday and today can't make it up the steep hill. I have tried and tried and tried with my cursor to push him/her but nothing happens....::(
Dana, as I posted yesterday, there are cam voulunteers sometimes ,on the fixed cams, but not everyday, and not always all day, they work 2 hour shifts, when they do work
Can’t see any animals? The animal in this exhibit may have moved out of view. FONZ volunteers operate some cams, but most of our cams show a fixed view.
Once flamingo chicks leave the nest, they gather in groups called créches, a French word for crib. Parent flamingos recognize their chick's voice within the créche and will feed no chick but their own. Baby flamingos are fed by regurgitation. Flamingo "milk", produced by both parents, is a red liquid with a nutritional value similar to the milk that people drink.
Just saw the 2 RED PANDAS that hatched at the KNOXVILLE ZOO!!---Tiny little beauties!---NEWS is their father resides at the NZOO!! COOL!---They have been on all the news programs----
Wondered if you folks in the NCTC area received any thunder storms and hail!!-----Happened here a few hours ago!!----It was hot & all of a sudden I heard this noise on the upper deck!---RAINING & HAILING at the same time----temp dropped then to 60°---back up to 72 now!!---IT WAS SCARY!!---
DANA---ENJOYING your FLAMINGO facts!!---If you google them---there you can see them dancing---I had seen that on the NATURE show----IT IS A BEAUTIFUL SIGHT---They do this when they are mating----I read all of that a while back---I LOVE watching them---so graceful!!
Thanks for flamingo info, Dana! You're so smart! Hey, Vicki! Hope you've had a good weekend. Glad you survived the storms, Norma! Not much here..just a little noise and a few sprinkles.
If anyone finds out why those flamingos keep 'beaking' each other - please post. I don't know if is a 'nasty' gesture or not. It could be something very normal for them to do. I guess I am thinking of Pecky Pearl
Although Flamingoes are extremely social, they spend quite a bit of time fighting with each other. These are usually only noisy squabbles and pecking skirmishes and never cause any damage or harm. When nesting, you can see that each nest is placed exactly one neck length away from its neighbor, just within arguing distance! The most disastrous consequence of all this fighting is broken or "scrambled eggs!"

The animal in this exhibit may have moved out of view. FONZ volunteers operate some cams, but most of our cams show a fixed view.
Copied from the flamingo page

Chick at hatching.
1. Newly-hatched chicks have gray or white down feathers, a straight red bill, and plump, swollen red or pink legs.
2. The leg swelling decreases approximately 48 hours after hatching, and the red bill and legs turn black in seven to ten days.
3. After hatching, a flamingo chick is not very agile. Movement is limited to pushing its wings or lifting its head.
Norma lol
Going to call you a 'bird brain' - you know that I mean "Birds on the brain" because red pandas can't get hatched!
DANA---GOOGLE--"FLAMINGO DANCE"---YOU TUBE from the PBS NATURE show--is the first thing you will see!!
SORRY JO! ho!---I was thinking about the DANCE the FLAMINGO do during mating time!!---
I am not real swift when I am excited about something!!---forgive me!!
Good evening all bird watchers. I just had to get on and chuckle over NORMA'S panda hatching. :)
I like to know why they keep beeking eachother too JO
OK DEB thanks for the heads up. They look like a lot of snakes moving.
That's all I have found so far, not a lot of info on any of the sites I've checked.
HEY DEB!---I think you have it covered----The FLAMINGOS are just fussing with each other!----Aren't they fascinating!!!----
Jas anyone of you ever seen any of these babies being fed yet
Has I mean :)
A flamingo's eye is bigger than its brain! I have seen them getting fed.
Thanks DEB. That makes me feel better.
