Good evening all. I have been in Beford for about 3 hours. Had a little work to do to catch up for this week. They had golf ball size hail in Bluefield and the best I can tell, it is heading toward Bedford. Lovely!
I am enjoying watching the flamingos. One just stood up and had its tail feathers grabbed by the one nesting beside it. It looks as though there is a storm with lightning in DC.

Sounds like lots of Sunday fun, and good Flamingo watching. They were still pink when I first got home, now they are just white...guess it's the hour of the day or something. I should be home long enough in the morning to spot for chicks like many today seem to have seen.
The Okla Eagle Nest site looks like it is all akimbo...a high up view of the ground and power lines, and surely, no eagles in sight from this view.
Heron cam, empty as can be.
And I am still puzzled about the Finney Nest..anyone have any ideas? Osprey parent is in the exact same position as when I left early this morning.
Hi, ladies...grandson was playing solitaire all evening. I finally told him his time was up and it was my turn. He said it was OK, because the game was giving him a headache. LOL

MITS - Thanks, your information is always top-notch. I have been worried about Finney's Nest, and must admit I opened it up before the BLOG tonight...I ALWAYS open up the NCTC Nest cam first, though.

I thought WEST END cam pic was frozen too, a cool shot of a babe on its tippy toes with wings spread, but he is back down in the nest now.

I'm still dreaming I think an eaglet blob in our Nest....maybe it came back, or maybe darkness is just playing with my eyes. It's more like a shadow or an apparition.

That's what we did last year....celbrated a month ahead of time as we were going to New England. We will do the same this year. That way he has an extended birthday!!!
Lolly, my mother was always torn by the fact that she always planned her vacation during my Karla's birthday. (Sept. 1...perfect time for vacation) She handled it very well. She bought her a gift ahead of time and gave it to me. On the day of her birthday, Mom would phone her and Karla would open her gift while on the phone. It was a very special birthday moment for Karla; she loved it that way.

Great idea Wanda. I told Laurel to have her children in the Fall. Being a kindergarten teacher I wanted my grandchildren to have that advantage. Well, she did, Joseph Oct. 18, Jacob Sept 8. For several years we could not travel in the fall. Can not leave new babies or one year olds on their birthdays!!!
Hey....and when I come to open house. You guys will recognize me...I'll be riding my horse. LOL

Good Evening Everyone! Had 'puter off for awhile. WE got the storm at about 8PM when it was supposed to be over!!!Sheets of rain, lightning, thunder coming from the South??!!That's unusual. Did nest get rain? I can't see it well enough to see if anyone there.

I see the little flamingo chick didn't have to get to the parent. At some time the parent went to it. Cause I see the parent down in the hole area on the chick and not on the mound where the parent had been laying on an empty nest. GOOODDDDDD!!!!
I see at 9:25pm last night Lolly commented on the same flamingo laying on chick down in the ditch....( :
I am going to search for Norma's red pandas that "hatched" at Knoxville Zoo.

Neat Norma they have "hair when born"....not like Tai or Butta Butta pink almost hairless.

I went to check on the eagles here
yesterday and found that they have
all fledged.I saw one on the ground
in a young corn field and watched
it for about 15 min.to see if it
was alright and it was ok and took
to flight.I am not sure where the
other two are but i will keep a
look out.I will post photos later
