I was over there posting away about the new Flamingo Chick "Whoo Hoo! Just saw a baby flamingo - He was uncovered and I got a good look! Mom just sat on him!"
Deb there are eggs. The camera person zooms in on the egg or a chick when parent stands. Right now the chick I seen is under the flamingo right up front near water. That camera is spotted on.
I am watching the flamingo who is nesting on the chick.. Can't figure out the interactions yet with the other ones. Pecking at each other a lot. The nesting one is still white feathered... Don't know at what age the lay eggs... Guess I best read up on these long legged feathered friends.
Why is there an "n" at the end of did. Sometimes you just type too fast! Ambulance came to my neighbor across the street. I sure hope he will be okay, he was talking with the EMT's, that's a good thing.
Here is some info Pairs of males and females make mud-mound nests, and incubate only one egg for about 30 days. Chicks leave the nest after ten days, and join a group of other chicks, called a crèche, watched by a few adults.
I sprayed once and will got out and do it again. I couldn't get close enough to the bushes to spray behind them. I figure in about another 10 minutes I can get closer and spray again.
Good morning All! (Still morning here!) Rather than getting on the puter this morning, Jack and I sat out at the front patio. It was pleasant for a while...then I started to "glow" and we came in.
Had scones for breakfast...thought of Chrissy.
Have read all the blogs, I think.
WANDA loved the picture of your Mom. We did have "some" lobster last night. For our anti pasta we shared an entree of lobster ravioli in the most delicious white sauce. (I refrained from picking up the plate and licking it!)
Mits....laughed at your reference to G & T. Jack makes the best G & T's, but like you....not in the morning. So glad your jubby is there with you. LOL You won't live that one down!
Excited about the flamingos. I needed something new to watch!
Wanda, really anxious to see what two facials at a time do. I have had three now! Such wonders!
Parent came in to chase away the crows and is now sitting to the right and a bit below the nest. You can just make him/her out among the rocks/boulders. Crows are quiet now. Smart crows!
Web cams are awesome! I just had a very enjoyable visit with my great granddaughters Elizabeth & Samantha & their mom in Germany. Even Chloe (the bulldog) came up to the cam! They entire family is doing well. Sgt Patrick's mom is visiting for a week with them. Patrick will be leaving for Iraq in about 3 weeks! He will request R&R during the Christmas holidays. That is also when Samantha's birthday occurs. Well - I need to sit on the deck a while & reflect on the beautiful event!
Thanks Paula...they sounded like crows but looked bigger, so that explains it - Ravens...both can be nasty that's for sure...
It won't be long before Star at TH fledges ... getting more ventureous every day.
Jo, webcams are great aren't they??? That is one of the things Glo is going to do while she is in AZ next week - set up a webcamera for them so they can see and talk to each other. Just checking - did you get an email from her recently? Thought maybe she got caught on that blocked list too?
Love and hugs to you all...can't wait to see what photo Wanda posts for my facial...should be a hoot!
back from the beach for a snack, had to be hard boiled eggs the cubbert is bare...only sound cam is the panda cam at zoo.....and the other cams have just a few volunteers to man them, and not always everday, lucky someone was there today.
Great video of K-64 & K-66. Thanks, Jim for bringing our attention to it.Flamingo chick and I missed it. Always say when my ship comes in I will be at the airport. Think I will take a panda nap.
Sorry PAULA, I was talking about the flamingos at the DC Zoo. I was sthe parent visit our nest and then juvie. and he/she is definately eating. I don't have any live cam tho; just regiular cam.
I had a panda nap after I found my lunch! Now it is get ready for church time. Lots of Flamingos nesting on eggs it looks like. Now just who could that be lying in Our nest in his most favorite spot? I am so thankful our juvies come back to the nest as often as they do. Some nest have fledges and really don't seem to follow up with anymore info.
I had wanted to mention that the video Glo put on FTLOE was what I had missed yesterday morning when Wanda was talking about the Food Fight! Pearl really did grabbed Tiny or Middy and held onto him when he tried to steal the fish...It had to had hurt soooooooo bad! It is really a MUST SEE video for this past 2008 season. Link to Final Tribute Eagle Season 2008 It is 8 min in length but worth your time.
All flamingo parents seem to be up and taking a breather Eggs. eggs everywhere. They all seem to be very restless and picky with eachother. Must be the heat.
Thanks JO for putting the connection to Glo's site and that WONDERFUL collection of our eagle family from beginning to finish. I can tell you it was just beautiful and I didn't have a dry eye when it was over. Our eagle family and ALL OF YOU ON HERE ,including the crew at NCTC are just so special. Thanks TO ALL Of YOU for your pics and videos so those of us that couldn't be on all the time could share in the goings on.
Oh geez. My husband is home and so is Josh. James is BBQing ribs, sooooo, I guess that is it for now. I have to get the table set and the veggies cooking. Later gators.
Paula, no painting for me today. I have 11 mosquito bites on my neck alone. decided to stay inside away from the bugs. I am off to get some Benadryl to take the swelling down. I have huge welts. I am going to call the city on Monday and find out what they are waiting for. I know, no wind, no rain, but we have had a few of those days. They are spraying in SF already.
I feel for you Deb! I got a wasp sting on my arm yesterday. I am allergic to wasp stings! Gave myself a shot with my Epipen and all is okay. However, my arm is hot and it ITCHES!!!!!!
Yeah, I wish I had one, but at the price of gas I am not going to run into town to look for one. That will have to wait 'til I am going that way. Putting Cortisone on it now.
My brother was up here several years ago...well more like 10 maybe. He was helping me cut down some evergreen trees that had gotten too big right in front of the house. I didn't realize there was a hornet's nest in the tree. He started on it with the saw...and ended up running across the street, being chased and stung by the hornets. He is allergic to them....and didn't have an epipen with him. We ended up in the emergency room to get him a shot!
We stopped on the way back home and got wasp spray to kill them, and he cut it down the next day. But he took Benadryl that night too, and it really knocked him out!
I am back, I am doing both cream and pills. I asked my sister and that is what she said to do. I haven't ever had this many bites at once and I think I have hives on top of it from all of them. I look horrible, I need a eagle facial on my neck and arms! They got in my hair, under my collar, in my shirt. It isn't pretty. The pharmacist looked at me and got extra strength cream for me instead of the regular I had picked out.
A couple years ago I was home alone working in the yard. I was trimming some ivy out of a tree and stepped on a yellow jacket nest that was in a railroad tie. I ran across the yard, I don't know how many stings I got. Gave myself a shot, drove to the hospital. Could not reach Jack who was meeting a friend for lunch. I told Russ he did not need to come....but he came anyway. I was okay, but they watched me closely. Did not know how I would react.
Deb I didn't think you were suppose to take both the cream and pills together. My son has allergies and he was told that. When we were little and got a bite the druggist gave us a liquid that smell wonderful. It did the trick.
My sister is a pharmacist, and she and the guy here said I should do both. I hope they are right, too late now! I bet it is because it is different now without the stuff you can make meth with, not as strong. I normally take Claritan D and now they just want me to take the stuff you buy on the shelf, not from behind the counter.
But before that...when I learned I was allergic...I got two wasp stings on my hand. You should have seen that hand. Looked like sausage fingers! It was awful. If I got wasp stings on my neck or face I would be in real trouble and they are all over the place. Jack tries to keep the place clear however.......
Even though the doctor told him not to take them both he did. He was okay I would have been in the ER. I cannot that sudafed. Had to go to the ER with rapid heart beat. Doctor gave me a shot and said heart would calm down in 10 minutes. It didn't gave me another shot. Heart didn't calm down. Told me he was going to do it again and I told him I didn't think so. Spent the night in the hospital until it got out of my system
Glad to help, Deb! But, no, I feel sorry for you as those mosquito bites itch!
Yesterday, I got Jack, told him where I was when I got stung. He headed out with the handy wasp spray (after he watched me give myself a shot) and he got stung as well. He got stung on his back through his t-shirt. He is fine. Me....I am digging at my arm!!!
That one flamingo does not look very comfortable. Her egg is on the edge of that little gully and there she sits, sometimes with her head down in that gully. I understand why they lay only one egg after seeing the size of those eggs.
Glo-your tribute was beautiful. Made me cry, too. Hope Steve has seen it...they ought to use it at the Center! What was the second song? So appropriate!
Lake Washington - adult & 2 eaglets in nest. You can see the baby bluebird really well Herons are not visible Osprey - can't get the cam up Burrowing Owls - a few outside the burrow
I feel like Anne-Marie...I get a chance to blog and everyone is going to bed. My grandson is visiting and took control of the 'puter. He is safely in bed now and the puter is mine again.
Sounds like there was a lot of biting, stinging, itching and scratching going on tonight. I really feel sorry for those who have allergies to insects. I know how bad it is for someone who has no allergies. Thank goodness for the EPIPEN!
Nest looks empty right now, but I am hoping for a surprise or two before heading out to work.
NATURE NUT: I see I must have been speed-reading, read your comment about your friend coming to do the banding, and thought it was THIS week-end...my boo boo. If it is any consolation, I am working both days this week-end too...don't you just DREAM about retirement (or willing a pile of money somehow...)
THANKS TO ALL for your greetings.
NORMABYRD: YOU are #1 - The Morning "UPLIFTER" to us all...
MOVIN JIM - You take the prize for the checkin' out the latest in the early morning hours. !
Well, time to try to get ready and keep dashing back to the Eagle Cam.
..and GLO - - - Your video, leaves us all speechless. That was fabulous. I think COSTUME LADY was the only one that saw the food fight "for real" - but you brought it to all of us...THANK YOU SO MUCH. There were many views on the reviews that I had missed 'til now. The "Eagle Kiss" = JUST VICKY is a gem for capturing that. We Miss you JUST VICKY - You are WAY MORE than "JUST VICKY."
Howdy HEDGESVILLER...
Can't see the birds yet this morning, might as well jabber like a Magpie in the meantime...
Magnificent Sailboat pretty close to the nest at Ferry Boat Finney's! and I think the other Finney's Nest cam must be frozen...or something is wrong with the adult...position has not changed since I quit watching at midnight...

Good morning, Iris, thanks for the heads up. I am looking for a baby flamingo chick that Dana spotted.
Thanks Steven for the new thread.
Iris you are #1 you have won the great and famous "eaglet facial". You can look on Wanda's site at the pictures of results.
Jo wasn't the chick flamingo so cute at DC Zoo. More eggs will be hatching. Be cute to watch them try to stand.

It's under the flamingo on the ground, right? I saw part of it when she moved, at least, I think I didn.
CONGRATULATIONS IRIS

Good question Debn.......
They (n's) seem to pop up from out of nowhere..
Hi EESharon, Deb, Dana, Jo, Thanks Steve for the new thread...forgot my manners this morning, I was so excited to be first...
I should have waited...don't know if I want that facial or not...
Can't wait to get a glimpse of the flamingo chick...it's hiding right now
oh gosh!!! I saw it, I saw it...sooooooo cute
It is really cute, should there be sound??
Fluffy looking little guy!
Reminds you of the storks......
Are you seeing him DEB or are you
killing mosquitoes?
I don't have any sound
Only the Panda cam has sound that I know about at the DC zoo. Mits is on the beach so we won't know until she returns about the cams with sound!!!
I sprayed once and will got out and do it again. I couldn't get close enough to the bushes to spray behind them. I figure in about another 10 minutes I can get closer and spray again.
Thanks Jim, neat story about the fallen eaglet! Seems like these eagle parents have it "covered" doesn't it?
I need to find some lunch!
BBILW
Jo, we always call that extra letter "fat fingering"! LOL!
Anyone heard from Miss Vicki lately??
Afternoon!
Dana - the article that Jim referred to is a year old...about the eaglet on the ground.

Hedgersviller, Not sure, but I think Vicky has company this weekend...don't know if she will be on or not
Mercy the Crows are dive bombing the West End Catalina Eaglets this morning... nasty crows have been makeing their lives miserable.
Parent came in to chase away the crows and is now sitting to the right and a bit below the nest. You can just make him/her out among the rocks/boulders. Crows are quiet now. Smart crows!
Web cams are awesome!

Well - I need to sit on the deck a while & reflect on the beautiful event!
Iris - those are Ravens at the WE nest! They can be really pesty at times!
And if you can't see Star at the TH nest, she has walked off the left front of the nest onto the "patio" area.
Thanks Paula...they sounded like crows but looked bigger, so that explains it - Ravens...both can be nasty that's for sure...
It won't be long before Star at TH fledges ... getting more ventureous every day.

Read where we had the family together this morning which is good news.
It looks like our eaglet has a full tummy and is going to take a panda nap. :)
Gotcha, Candy.
Now our eaglet is resting at the far end of the nest.

BBL this evening
All flamingo parents seem to be up and taking a breather Eggs. eggs everywhere. They all seem to be very restless and picky with eachother. Must be the heat.
Very good to see you in here Candy ( :
So Jo had a good panda nap huh lol
Has anyone seen these flamingo's eat anything while on the nest? I don't see them leaving the nest to eat either.
I like it when the pink flamingo flap their wings you see the black underneath. Looks like eyeliner trim with the pink.
So I have seen only one chick though. Maybe more will hatch tomorrow. Could be the cam isn't wide enough to catch all the chicks.
See plenty of eggs to hatch yet.
Hey DANA. It looked like just awhile ago, about three of the sitting flamingos had a change of parent. No I haven't seen them eat anything either yet.
Yes, I have only seen eggs; no chicks.
Looks like lol "alot of pecking pearls" in the flamingo cam lmbo
Candy the chick is under the pink flamingo laying in the front row looking at cam right now 2nd pink from left.
front row meaning the water is right behind them
Going to watch Glo's video Jo put up. Want to watch it again.
Flamingo cam by the way is great when you full screen it.

Hi t bird and sharon. I am watching our eagle nest as well as the Dc Zoo Flamingos. They are cool.
T bird You are sure a funny looking person. You look like a dog in the captain's seat to me. How old are you?
Thanks DANA or the heads up on the flamingo chick. I'll be watching and see if I can see it.
Oh geez. My husband is home and so is Josh. James is BBQing ribs, sooooo, I guess that is it for now. I have to get the table set and the veggies cooking. Later gators.
If I don't get back on, you all have a wonderful day and a peaceful.\, restful night. Tomorrow brings a new day with new beginnings.
Have a nice dinner, Candy, sounds yummy.
Deb, how's that painting coming along?
HI PAULA-justin
bye you all
Oh, wow! Just watched Glo's video. It did bring tears to my eyes. Thanks Glo!!
Bye Justin!
i well be back at 7:00
Okay, Justin. Will talk with you at 7:00.
Man, now I want BBQ for dinner!
See ya later, Justin!
Watch out Deb, that Benadryl will knock you out! It's effective, but seems to knock ya out.
Gotta go put the chicken on...will be in and out...
I feel for you Deb! I got a wasp sting on my arm yesterday. I am allergic to wasp stings! Gave myself a shot with my Epipen and all is okay. However, my arm is hot and it ITCHES!!!!!!
Eaglet gone from the nest!
Lolly, that skeeter stick would help with that, too.
Tiny is in the nest!
Must be waiting for supper!
Now he is gone!
I have only been stung a few times and luckily I am not allergic to them. They really hurt, I can't imagine getting stung more than once!
My epipen is in my purse. It goes where I go!!!
Helen was in a pool and when she came up a yellow jacket stung her in the throat.
I was checking the chicken and Tiny left!
So far have never been stung. Those flamingoes sure do peck at each other a lot.
I had stings on my legs, my neck, my arms, my face. I was a mess!
Fortunately, I lucked out in the family and am only allergic to penicillen.
When my oldest was little, he got stung on the back of the neck and had a reaction...so we gave him benadryl and watched him...but he was ok.
That would be awful, Lolly, I was feeling sorry for myself, over it now!
I got 2 stings on my arm 2 weeks ago working out in the yard...didn't even realize it. Those stingers leave a big hole! It was pretty itchy!
Lucky me....I am allergic to penicillin as well. :(
Even though the doctor told him not to take them both he did.
They were very agressive wasps.
That one flamingo does not look very comfortable. Her egg is on the edge of that little gully and there she sits, sometimes with her head down in that gully. I understand why they lay only one egg after seeing the size of those eggs.
It sounds like it, the only reason I got stung was I stepped on a bee.
Dinnertime here....BBIALW
One in nest.
Eaglet in the nest!
Gone
Back!
Deb I think he is waiting for supper and the rest of the gang.
I think you are right!
There is one heronette in the nest. It flew in, didn't come out of the tree! That is the first one today, I bet they all fledged.
Just watched Glo video. Fantastic. Thanks Glo.
Our eaglet just flew out.
Deb I am watching the Orioles playing in Milwaukee and they are talking about problems with mosquitoes on the field.
Everyone is going to have to be careful this year, I bet West Nile will be bad again this year.
The Twins are playing the Nationals this weekend. They one last night, haven't checked on tonight's game.
No they aren't, they are done with the National's and playing Arizona tonight.
Deb,I think you are right about West Nile this year. Think I will go sit down and watch the game. If I don't get back. Have a good evening.
I am going to watch for awhile, I think Paula is right, I am getting sleepy. I didn't get the non drowsy kind.
I am going to watch for awhile, I think Paula is right, I am getting sleepy. I didn't get the non drowsy kind.
LoL, Deb, and you are repeating yourself too. Go lay down.
Feel better Deb.
I think I said hi if not Hi Ceil and Lolly ( :
Stings are terrible and itchy....
I went back for my third time to watch the video Jo put on here of Glo's.....I just love the music with the pictures. Awesome ( :
Eaglet resting in nest
Eaglet gone
If you come back in "Hi ( : Justin"...
Been playing around. Posted more pictures of my yard.

About time for us to have some supper. Thinking of having chili dogs. We ate so good last night, time to eat less fancy tonight.

SISSY
Oh, well you are older than I thought!
Lolly, Justin is my great-nephew and lives with me!
Time for me to go eat. Supper is ready1 Bye Justin!
Wow, went from MT nest to 2 parents and 2 eaglets. One is mantling!
2 in our nest...major mantling!!
THE EAGLE ARE ANGEL
BYE LOLLY
Still major mantling! Must be a nice dinner. Can you imagine the peeping going on!
Eaglet may be mantling and eating...hmmm, now both at the far end..I think the one on the left is trying to snatch it!
OMG all 3. Yippee!!
For all dealing w/ stings....try making a paste of water and powdered, unseasoned meat tenderizer and applying to sting. It works wonders!
School's out, school's out!
Teacher let the eaglets out!
Glo-your tribute was beautiful. Made me cry, too. Hope Steve has seen it...they ought to use it at the Center! What was the second song? So appropriate!
Hi Justin ( :
Good Evening HV ( :
I see we have family in the nest.
Funny! Was watching the flamingos when the cam suddenly went black and white. They all looked like swans....well, almost!
Ok Lolly I had to think after reading your comment lol Yep it isn't you it's Deb on those to meds. lol
Kidding with you alittle Lolly ( :
Nope, just me! Scratching away at my wasp sting!
Deb is probably passed out somewhere!
Went outside after supper. Pleasant time of evening...heat of the day is sorta gone.
Flamingos are still while!
Looks like our eaglets left to spend the night in a tree.
Seems like the nest would be much more preferrable to a tree. Oh, well!
Lake Washington - adult & 2 eaglets in nest.
You can see the baby bluebird really well
Herons are not visible
Osprey - can't get the cam up
Burrowing Owls - a few outside the burrow
Good Night all, and sweet dreams!
Our eagles are "perching" tonight like adult eagles do.. They must think they are all grown up or something....:)
Prayers for all both human and feathered, finned and furred.
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
Good night all tc pleasant dreams
I feel like Anne-Marie...I get a chance to blog and everyone is going to bed. My grandson is visiting and took control of the 'puter. He is safely in bed now and the puter is mine again.
I have posted photos of myself after using 2 FACIALS. I now have a problem
Iris is also on the FACIAL line-up.
She also has a problem.
Sounds like there was a lot of biting, stinging, itching and scratching going on tonight. I really feel sorry for those who have allergies to insects. I know how bad it is for someone who has no allergies. Thank goodness for the EPIPEN!
Haven't quite close down yet Wanda. Just wanted to let you know someone is here for the moment. I check "facial" pics out now.
Poor dear Iris....oh my what to do what to do
Wanda for yours Doublemint Doublemint 2 packs in one......
Am closing down night pleasant dreams all
Good Night, Dana...talk tomorrow.
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
SLEEP TIGHT
PRAYERS
Good Night, Eagleland!
ROFLMAO...THANKS WANDA!
Night everyone, I am off to bed also. Twins win, took a nap, now I am tired again.
Good Night, Everybody...
Spidey is still here, but I can see just enough that it looks like one eaglet "might" be in the nest tonight. The webs are still thick enough to cause big visibility problems.
Rest easy, have a good Sunday morning.
Jim
Good Morning To All !!
Well, time to try to get ready and keep dashing back to the Eagle Cam.
xoxo to all. Safe and Happy Day.
..and GLO - - - Your video, leaves us all speechless.
Up early checked nest no one in our nest for now.
Checking out those flamingos.
Magnificent Sailboat pretty close to the nest at Ferry Boat Finney's! and I think the other Finney's Nest cam must be frozen...or something is wrong with the adult...position has not changed since I quit watching at midnight...
