Jack got The Hobbit on DVD for Christmas. We have read the book and seen the movie. Tonight we watched it to refresh our memories and now we are ready to go to the theatre to see Part II.

Have had a fire going and have enjoyed the evening at the movies. ☺

Laurel and Jacob are going back to school tomorrow. We are picking Jacob up after school, taking a meal up there, and going to Joseph's basketball game.

And, Jack did some more pecan shelling and yep, I got some!

Night all! See you tomorrow!

Hi,

When I got in the car to come home from bridge, it began to rain. By the time I got home, it was snowing impressively, though not sticking . . . yet. The temp had dropped to 36 by the time I pulled into my driveway.

Thanks, Sandi. It would be interesting to have Hunter ask you a math question. The problem we are having is that he is not asking anyone questions. I would do everything in my power to figure out the answer and he knows this. But I would also be happy for you to provide answers.

stronghunter said...

Lolly, both of my parents played bridge, so it was pretty natural for me to start playing when college friends were doing so.

In my young and single teaching days, we had a group that got together every Wednesday night to play. It was very informal: whoever wanted to play just showed up. and we took turns hosting. If we needed an extra table, someone brought one, or we sat on the floor around a coffee table. If we had extra people, someone pulled out a guitar and a group sang along. We had lots of fun.

stronghunter said...

Now, I get to go back to my old neighborhood and play with friends I have known for many years. My bridge group has been around for more than 30 years. Funny thing is that one of the members says that her other bridge group is the "old" one.

Good morning!

It's JudyE's day off again, already! Enjoy, Judy. Hope you find that kitten where ever it is.

Sandi, anymore news on your Mom? Glad she saw a doctor. Hopefully, the meds (probably a diuretic) will help clear up the PE. I'm sure you've done your research on it.

Lolly, happiness that the family is healing and going back to school today.

I'm headed to clinical at the hospital. Hope it goes fast. I got a lot of new assignments yesterday. No school Monday though! WooooWhoooo!

Hoping there are eagles in the nest a lot today.

Morning all.

Yesterday was a busy but good day.
After giving my regular wed massage, I came home. We took the comforters to the laundry, an hour later, that was done. I managed to do a bit of house work before taking Livvy to school and before picking her up as well. Smarty me (lol) made up the spaghetti sauce for dinner in the a.m. so all I had to do when we got home was cook noodles, reheat the sauce and mix. Tah dah! Dinner!
I think sylvan went okay. I took a bag with me of magazines I wanted to read (3 dog fancy magazines), my book, and some cross stitch that I haven’t worked on in several years. We arrived a bit after 3, which gave Olivia a chance to catch her breath. I had a snack and drink ready for her on the way from school.
I sat there while she was in session for 2 hours. I finished all 3 magazines and got a god bit done on the cross stitch. It was warm, so after reading all 3 magazines, I was getting sleepy. Not good. Cross stitching woke me back up. 
BIRD GIRL: good for you. Education is often the key…..empowering people! Helping our furry and feathered friends! Celebrate you! Celebrate your successes! So honored to have you in our presence!
JUDYE: no, you had not mentioned the info regarding SYLVAN. I have heard lots of good things….so I am hopeful for Olivia.

Not done, but just ran out of time. Ooops.
Light, love, hugs and smiles to all!

Good morning all. Sandi - hope your Mom will get better soon. Don't see much at the nest. Cam keeps shutting down and I need to re-start it. Thanks for all the well-wishes concerning our car. Had to be towed home and hoping towing insurance can help some there. I just had front brakes done in November...now have problem and the repair shop wanted a great deal of money that I couldn't see spending. They were nice enough not to charge us for checking. Looks like a brake hose problem and not sure I can fix it. I'll check it out Saturday. Hope you all can have a great day. I'm hoping to see some eagles soon.

Good Morning Eagle Buds !!!

Snow is pretty much gone---til' it begins to fall again tonight and for the next three days ! Only 23° and destined to stay low for the next week. Guess it's very, very January !

SANDI, so relieved to read that your mom is on Lasix and that's there is hope that the crisis can be averted !! Prayers continue !!

JO, sorry your household suffered a fender bender, too. Way too much of that and car trouble going around for we EM's.

It is indoor but for the $$ the two shows aren't worth the over hour drive up there with road construction and I wanted to do Dinosaur world but its outside (wimpy here to cold) so we are just gonna go to Great Explorations which she just loves We were there once from opening to closing

JUDIE, how do you like your new do?

JUDYE, Hoping you and Jordyn have a great day and night together. It's so great that you get so much time with her.

SHIRLEY, is Hunter still wearing a jacket to school, or was that a one day deal? :)

DELPHIA, how are the budgies?

JANET, you are a loving Mom to wait 2 hours in a waiting room for Livvy. How did she like it? Wish I could cross stitch, but my eyes won't focus to count those little squares.

LYNNE-DUH, how do you like the new house? Does Steve like his new job? I can't wait to hear all about it. So happy for you!

MARGY, how goes it? Is crime really worse in the summertime? Just hoping it might be slow for you during this cold weather. Don't imagine that even the hoodlums want to go out. :)

PAULA, how is Larry's leg doing? Didn't see if he rode the scooter or not at the grocery store. Is he still working at Lowes in Fred?

Hi all - home from school and getting my nails done. Saw both eagles on the nest.

Just spoke to Mom. She said the lasix is making her pee but her pain is still awful - said it feels like someone is stabbing her. She has pain under her rib cage, down both sides of her body, and in her back. Now I'm worried that the pain is coming from her aneurysm getting ready to burst and not just from the pleurel effusion.

On a happier note, there was a huge blizzard in Baltimore in Feb. of 1979 and another big one in Feb. of 1983. I know this for a fact b/c I gave birth to two bouncing baby boys in October of 1979 and October of 1983! After that, whenever we got a sizable snow, my neighbors would call and ask if I was pregnant again! :)

Need to make dog food - will try to get back on the blog later tonight.

Hi, Everyone,

There are a few other new and urgent prayer requests here from the last couple of days, and I've added them to my prayer list!

Yikes, it's HOT here again--in the high 80s! Would surely welcome a few snow flurries if one of you could please send me some! Emma is laying around with her tongue hanging out right now.
She's fine, except she could use a summer haircut in January!

WISHING CHRISSY A HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
If you're reading this, I miss you, and hope you will contact us to let us know how you're doing!

Margy & JudyE, I hope your vehicles will hold together for a long time for you! Ken & I are down to one car now since a year ago. The older one had almost 300,000 miles on it when we donated it to charity. Decided it would be too expensive to do upkeep on it at that point. Thank God, the current wheels are doing fine.

Lolly, glad that Annie is better!
Bless her heart!

Need to run--Ken's due home from work shortly. He has tomorrow off, since it is his 73rd Birthday. We're doing something with my Sis-in-law, but haven't decided what yet--maybe lunch and a movie.

Hope everyone has a great evening, and I'll talk to you tomorrow night. I ♥ us!!

good evening to all.

LORI: I use a larger size aida cloth and my bifocals for cross stitch. The bifocals are a must for anything like that, reading, etc now. That’s one of the only stinky things about middle age, the eyes don’t focus like they used to.

I don’t know about being the “loving” mom…try being the mom who didn’t want to fight traffic that side of town any more than I have to. Its in Green Hills…which is a “higher” end side of town. Very nice. Her orthodontist, our dentist, and now Sylvan is over there. Its twenty min from our house, but traffic is much more congested. Its much more relaxing for me to sit and enjoy the sofa, some coffee, and relax while she studies…. But I do spend a LOT of time waiting on that kid, lol.
I drove her to and from Franklin (30 min away) and waited an hour for her to do vision therapy for 9 months.
I take her to the ice rink 2x a week, sometimes having to wait 2 hours for her to finish. Not to mention….the December program…and now she’s considering doing a competition in February.
And now sylvan.
I’m getting good at waiting. Lol.

SANDI: light, love, and hugs for your mom. It sounds pretty miserable! ‘
JO: hope things work out for Christine and her family….

I am tired tonight. I dozed off doing Yoga today…..it took a lot of coffee to get me going again this afternoon. I am fading fast at this point.

Calling it a night. Nice hot shower and bedtime in my near future. SED to all!

Judy & Margy, my Jeep was bought in November of 2001 - I'm hoping to get 2 1/2 more years out of it and buy myself a new vehicle as my retirement gift. Only has 80,00 miles on it and still runs fine.

Paula, did you happen to hear on your local news about any drama/scandal in Indian River School District? It appears that the principal and vice principal at the local elementary school were fired yesterday for "inappropriate school conduct." Both are married but were having an affair with one another - parent rumors are saying they were caught having sex at school! The sad thing is that both of them have children who attend the school.

Lori, hope you got that paper/homework assignment completed. Hang in there - a 3-day weekend is fast approaching.

Goodnight - Will see everyone in the AM! Thanks again for the prayers for my mom.

Soon headed to tuck myself under the blankets. Will be really cold tonight.

Hoping for a calm, peaceful day with the kids and my colleagues before this 3-day weekend. The principal did have a chat with the 2 teachers on the hallway who had the argument in my room and they seemed OK yesterday.

Will call Mom at lunch time and then decide if we're driving to Baltimore for the weekend.

Nest is MT.

Have a great day all.

Have a great day all.

Good morning!

Wow what a week. So glad that it is over.
We had 2 deaths in our school family. One of our 4th grade boys lost his dad last Saturday. He was in the VA in Martinsburg in ICU. This dad was a wonderful person, caring, and a Hagerstown City Policeman. He leaves a wife, 4 year old daughter, and 10 year old son. So very sad.
They yesterday we get news that a former teacher from our school died of a massive heart attack. Bam, just like that. She was in school Wednesday morning and dead Wednesday night. So shocking. She touched many lives. She taught all 4 of my children, and I was her teacher's aide for a year when I was working on my Masters. She was the mother of 5 adopted children of all races, and basically raised 3 of her grandchildren. I have her youngest grandson in my class.

And my Andrew has had a "friend" visiting from CA and now they are "in a relationship". Not sure how to take all of that, or what is going to happen when she goes back to CA. At least I am assuming she is going out to CA. Pretty sure he is staying here....doesn't have enough money to get a flight after paying for school...oh damn, wish they were all back in diapers.

Jo-So glad to get the Michael update. Glad he is doing well and preparing to go on another trip! whoo hoo!

Sandi-A selfie holding a frying pan. Too funny.

Tag day for us= jeans! Yay! We are also having slipper day in kindergarten. I better get moving. Slept til 6 this morning. I guess I am emotionally drained.

TGIF! RED TGIF!!!!! We made it to FRIDAY!!!!
JUDIE: thank the sandperson. I slept so soundly last night. I hit the sheets @ 9 and at 9:01 was snoring.
MAGPIE; I”d love to send CarolAnne a card, can you email me her addy please?

DANAMO: wow. Hugs all around. Its been a rough week for you and those near you….
Feeling much more human this morning. Thursdays feel like Mondays to me, from the time I peek my eyes open til the time I close them…. So glad when Friday gets here.
It dawned on me, I have a four day weekend? My normal Sat and Sun off, then off Monday to take Tom to dr and Livvy to dentist, then Tuesday is my normal Tuesday off.
Between tomorrow and Tuesday I might actually be able to complete my taxes. I need to crunch all my raw data. At least, I can get a good start on it!
Hope everyone has a lovely day. Light, love, hugs, and smiles to each of you. Holding you each close in my heart and thoughts. 

Good RED FRIDAY morning Eagle Buds !!!

SANDI, thinking of you mom this a.m. and hoping she had a good night with reduction in that horrible pain.

SHIRLEY, thanks for posting the fox pic on your blog ! Must have found a warm spot on that car.

PAULA, who knew Paradise would be such a "hotbed" of activity ? Guess those fired teachers won't be getting jobs at the local JCP ! So very sad for their innocent kids.

DANA, and sad, sad news for your school family. Hope you like Andrew's friend. I'm sure it does your heart good to see him happy !

ANDY, Happy, happy 73rd Birthday to your Kubby !

Time for me to do what little housework I've planned for today. It's Julie's long day at work, so I'm picking Seth up at 11:00. We'll lunch at Piada's and then find warm indoor things to do here for the rest of the day. Games, jigsaw puzzling.... The temp is as high as it's going to get today at 33° and more snow flurries all afternoon.

Love and prayers for all !!!

Good morning,

Slept a bit late after not being able to sleep during the night. Maybe Janet got my share of the sleepy dust.

Saw a little birdie hopping across the nest just now. There's a dark spot in the center of what I assume will be the egg cup.

Dana, my condolences to you and your school family. Hoping that things work out well for Andrew and his friend--and that it's a relationship to your liking.

Great news about BWE Nest Update
01/17/14: Egg Alert!
We have our second egg. If we get a third, it should be here by Sunday.
Lady and Lord Blackwater are right on schedule! Like Judy I always check our nest and then BWE nest.

I need to read earlier comments -

Question: Lynne - where is the message from Heather Walker concerning our Chrissy? I can't find it -- we're lucky you did and that it put our minds at ease.

Hoda said...

Good morning all.
Why is it a three day weekend?

Oh I slept so soundly!!!
It is 7:30 and I am still in bed!!!
Thank you Mr Sand Person!!!

Sorry DANA for school community deaths.

Sorry about the school scandal too!!! For the adults involved, their children, and the whole situation. Scandals bring out the worst in people.

Goodorming! Had a fun day yesterday. Picked up Jacob and when we arrived at the house he went right to the kitchen counter to do his homework. I did not have to say anything! And, he did it perfectly and cheerfully. Yea!

Joseph lost his basketball game. The other team had an amazing player. He is 12 years old but has already hit puberty. You could see the muscles in his arms! He was also about 5'10". When he got his hands on the ball he made a basket. OMG! Joseph came out after the game and in awe of the player. Not mad, not sad....just amazed at he player on the other team. Way to go Joseph for being mature about the loss.

Susan had a choice between raccoons and, as I recall, bats, as a rescue place to volunteer. Her volunteer hours helped her obtain her certification as a rehabber.

I would have chosen raccoons too.

Yes, Shirley! I went to her page and saw the comment. Hoping things are not going "rough" right now for her. We should keep her in prayer as she did love her cams.

Interestingly, the white portion of the tree trunk extends beyond the top of the nest; it looks to go even below the bottom of the nest. Just an observation.

It would be nice to see the tree from a different angle. With no leaves on the tree, we would get a good view of the nest and this portion of the tree.

stronghunter said...

Agreed, Lolly.

stronghunter said...

Time for me to go put together a BLT for lunch.

stronghunter said...

Hmm, listening. Not hearing any sounds right now.

stronghunter said...

Sorry about the basketball loss, Lolly. Kids at this age really do come in very different sizes.

Yikes!! All of a sudden I am hearing something that seems to be coming from the nest area. Not sure what it is, though.

Lolly said...

Lots of wind at the nest. Have been watching it for the last half hour while we did our walking. One of these days gonna see an eagle while walking in mid day. LOL

stronghunter said...

Yes, I think I heard wind, too. It sounded different from the wind I've heard before, though, and I am not seeing movement in the tree.

Good afternoon friends!

Shirley, you got me with your CHF adventures. I thought what the heck as you talking about, because I only knew CHF as congestive heart failure. DUH! Very cute fox, and daring, too.

JO, thanks for sharing Christine and family with us. I solute her husband, and give Christine my admiration. PTSD is a long road back.

Sandi, Awful story about the principal and VP. Glad you Mom is getting rid of lots of fluid. Poor thing. Pleural Effusion can be very painful. Prayers continue.
Loved that you were a Blizzard Baby Maker! LOL

Janet, thanks for the chauffeur details. You are a great Mom! So glad you get a 4 day weekend. WooooHoooo. I have Monday off, too.

Kay, loved your "hotbed" comment to Sandi about the misbehaving principal and VP. You're always so clever. Have a great evening with Seth.

Lolly, when is the trailer coming?

Hoda, cracks me up when you post and say you're still in bed. Wish I could do that. Another benefit to growing up and being like Hoda!

Andy, we'll take all of the sunshine you want to send this way. And, yes, we'll send you some snowflakes.

Had a great day at the hospital today. The more I do this, the more I like it. Had two outstanding elderly patients and loved them. So nice to see that they both had family gathered around them. ♥

Hi all - home from school and starting my 3-day weekend!! Woohoo!!

My live feed is running just fine and I think I even have sound. Waiting for an evening eagle visit.

Great news about Blackwater's 2nd egg!

Called Mom this morning at 11am and she said her pain level was about a 5 on a scale of 1-10. Last night she said it was a 10. Just got off the phone with her and she says her pain level is about a 2-3! Greatly improved! Thanks for all the prayers! Based on how she's feeling today, Lisa didn't call the doctor and Mom will go for her scheduled appointment next Tuesday.

Nice calm drama-less day at school, though the rumors are really flying about what the principal and vice principal must have been doing to get themselves fired on the spot! Hmmm ...

I got get Olivia and get home and now Olivia AND the dogs are demanding food. I fed the dogs. But I am taking a short break before I fix dinner.
I found the sleeping bag for Michael. I think he is both scared and excited about this new adventure. He is dreading leaving Ashely, I know, but all will be well.
It is cold outside. The wind is up and the wind chill is 18. 27 is the actual temp.

Welcome to the weekend!

Good Saturday morning, everyone!

Margy, How do you like the 12 hour shifts with the extra time off? Just curious because we'll be doing it for clinical soon - two hospital days on 12 hour shifts instead of 3 hospital days.

Lolly, sorry getting your trailer has been delayed. I think I'd be a little upset with those people. Glad you have Jack to handle all that for you. :) Hope you have a super happy pizza day with the family!

Hoda, yes I realize you're 3 hours behind - I just love the picture in my mind of you in bed posting on the blog and FB. Too cute.

Sandi, any update on your Mom this morning? Great news that her pain has significantly decreased.

Janet, what are your plans for the weekend - I know it's a four day weekend for you. Sorry I missed the part about Michael, Ashley and the sleeping bag, but hope it all works out.

Kay, did Seth spend the night? Bet you had a great time doing puzzles and things. Do you have an update on Malcolm?

Time to go make my list of things I have to complete this weekend.
I won't be leaving the house at all this weekend, which is okay since it's so cold.

Love you all!

Sandi said...

Goodorming Lori and all my eagle friends!

Nest is MT and windy - yes, I can hear the wind!

Lori, glad to hear that your clinical placement is going well and you're really enjoying it. Did you ever get the grade for your paper that was returned with the notes on it? You may have told us your grade and I just forgot or missed it.

Lolly, sorry you won't get to see your new toy this weekend - I know how anxious you must be!

Jo, how did the sleepover go?

Schoolwork, cleaning the upstairs, and doing laundry are on my agenda for today. Have a good one everyone!

good morning! Saturday!
Just a few min before I start the yearly number crunching.
Must have coffee first though.
Today is, hopefully, Michael’s last day @ Jiffy Lube. Tomorrow he begins his orientation as a professional truck driver. He will hit the road Monday/Tuesday with a trainer.
LORI: Instead of Michael packing sheets, etc for this truck driving job, at least while he is in orientation, he is going to take a sleeping bag. I had that downstairs storage room all kinds of torn up looking for it. I have bins bins bins everywhere. I have bins of belly dance stuff (3, to be exact), a bin of sentimental I can’t stand to get ride of it stuff (only 1), bins of Olivia’s art and school work (1) out of season clothing, etc. And someone in there is a bin of blankets, etc. Had to locate it. I need to write on it that that’s whats in that bin.
The room this is in is a small used tobe bedroom. It also holds all sorts of stuff, like our bicycles, the freezer, roll away beds. It was quite a sight, me in the middle of everything, I’m sure. Lol.
Plans. Well, today is Sylvan for Olivia. Then Amelia wants us to come see her cheer. She is on a cheerleading squad. So we will likely do that.
Tom and I are planning another date night. Do some dancing.
Somewhere in there the house work calls, and yes, taxes are needing to tended to.
Hopefully everyone has a lovely day! Light, love, hugs and smiles!

Good Morning Eagle Buds !

Had a super day with Seth yesterday--Piada's Italian Street Food was delicious and my now adult grandson took care of all details--where to sit, getting drinks, clean up afterwards. It snowed pretty heavily while we were eating, and we went on to Kroger so I'd not have to get out again til' next week. Then home with the grosseries--he was helpful throughout ! We enjoyed an afternoon of games, conversation, hot chocolate and cookies..... Hugh staying out for Happy Hour with the guys from the office, so Julie brought over pizza n' salad--quite the Italian immersion day for us !

He'll be back tonight for the usual routine and food will be Mexican--taquitos and trimmings.

LORI, Malcolm wasn't along--he's refusing to do more than stick his nose out the door on frigid days. He's paper trained--a spot in the basement--what a blessing that is. Have tried to train Penny, but no luck. She hates the bitter cold, too, and gets right down to bizness when we go out !

LOLLY, thinking of you and you prepare for a pizza night with your dear son ! Happy Birthday to Michael !

JO, I know you had a grand time with your Miracle Michael and the kids last night !

PAULA, thanks for the reminder. I can't change the batteries in my smoke alarms either and it's time to ask Hugh to change them before that annoying beeping starts ! Enjoy your dear Michael and his beloved this weekend ! It's all about Michael's right now !!!!

SANDI, so glad your mom's pain level is now low and much more tolerable. Is she staying at your sister's house at this time ?

Good morning,

Brr, it looks cold and windy at the nest. I hear sounds there, too. And I am blogging away here in my bed. Not three hours behind Lori, but in jeans and a sweater. I sent Hunter away for the rest of the weekend with his dad.

I am going to gather up my bowling stuff and get some practice in soon. Tonight, Susan is to come down and we'll continue with birthday celebrations. It may be just Will and Susan and me, as it seems Kathryn has tentative plans with her friends and we never know what Rus might do. Life can get complicated with multiple adult children, so I just roll along with it all.

Sorry about the trailer delivery delay, Lolly.

Hope that car repairs are going well, Hoda.

Smoke detector batteries--oh, my, I am not sure when we did that, but mine aren't beeping.

My Christmas tree is still standing nude in the living room, Paula. Lots of bins of stuff sitting around needing attention. I want to do some purging before everything is hauled downstairs.

stronghunter said...

Janet, a sleeping bag for the truck sounds like a good idea, especially when it is so cold. We often used sleeping bags in our trailer and found they worked well for the bunk bed set-up we had for our family.

Janet, what an agenda. All the best to Michael with his training. If he needs sheets just check my avatar for a suggestion. Have a wonderful day and date night.

Family weekend it seems. Have fun Paula, Jo, Kay, Lolly.

Goodorming! Slept late, running late. Need to get busy!
Last minute house straitening, grossssseries to buy, cooking to do!! Going to make a sopapilla cheese cake for Michael. He likes that. Zach called and wanted to ask me a question. "Do you have ice cream?" LOL Told him to tell his Dad that I was cooking liver and onions. Now I love liver and onions but know Michael does not. I am a little ticked with my son!!! I like cooking what he wants but he was a little rude the way he asked for pizza. However, we do get the feeling that Michael is needing or wanting a little "home" time. It has been a while and I think he realizes it.

Thrilled to hear some still have their trees up....even nude trees! Wow! I always feel like I am running late but got ours put up before my birthday this year.
