Goodorming dana, judy and all my eagle friends. Mom had some pain yesterday but not as bad as it has been. She didnt want to go to the hospital and have the thoracentisis done so we didnt. She only ate a half bowl of cereal and a banana all day though. She took a tylenol at 10pm, went to bed, and is still sleeping which is good b/c she said she got very little sleep friday night due to pain.

Brian called and talked to mom which cheered her up some and madeline was here for much of the day. She really should keep moving but she is so weak. Her only movement is from the sofa to the bathroom and then back to the sofa. Maybe she will feel like eating more today.

Thanks for everyones concern and prayers. We will stick around til about 6pm and then head home.

Have a great day.

Good morning.

Cold and sunshine and fluffy clouds in a bright blue sky.

So glad to hear from Sandi. Nice that Brian got to speak with grandmom. Just hope she gains strength quickly.

Lori, use today as catch-up, e.g., sleep.

Dana, seems so strange to have used up all the "snow" days this early. Well, no school = more nest watching.

I, too, would recommend looking at the prior Downton Abby seasons. However, I do not like the story line with Anna or what seems to be an uncharacteristic response toward Mr. Bates. JMHO

Nest is MT in the sunshine. Thanks for posting the video, JudyE. I watched them in real time last evening and again in your post. I think Shep's spot has disappeared.

Margy, have a great day with James the Wise and Prairie Dog John.

Off for coffee and newspaper. BBL

Sandi said...

Mom is up and says she got a good night's sleep. Has some pain this AM so I gave her 1 tylenol.

Read on FB that Blackwater has a third egg!

Margy enjoy your James time and your visit with your brother.

Beautiful sunny not too cold day today but weathermen are calling for a significant snow event for tomorrow and very cold temps! What a roller coaster this weather has been!

Later!

stronghunter said...

Good morning,

Thanks for the suggestions. I need to go ahead and get the first season of Downton Abbey. I did see the first show for this season and part of the second one--at least I think that is what was running last night before the current show.

Janet, most of the other bowlers in my league use the curving balls. I am not ready for that. I think I need to be more confident with the straight one.

Hoda said...

Goodorming!

Thank you SANDI for update on your MOM.

Yes DANA SANDI the weather is strange here too.
Very mild. Snow melting, no ice!!!
I'LL TAKE IT!
Sorry about concerns of limited snow days and the prospect of an extended school year.

Off to get the car to the garage.
BBL

Have a terrific morning.

Happy MLK Day

Lolly said...

Goodorming! SANDI, thanks for the update on your mom! She certainly needs to eat more to keep up her strength.

55 already this morn. If it is not windy we will work in the yard again.

JUDIE, I am with you on Anna in Downton Abby. It makes me very uncomfortable. Talking with the head of the household and the police is the thing to do. Poor Mr. Bates.

stronghunter said...

Hoping that your mother has a very good day, Sandi. Good that you have a day off from school.

Yes, Dana, tomorrow should be interesting. On inch is predicted for here. That is possibly enough to close down schools. I am supposed to bowl tomorrow. We cancel if more than one area school district is closed. We shall see.

On one of the craziest snow days I recall here in Virginia, we started getting major snowfall before the school bus came, but they did not cancel. Kathryn was sick, so I put Rus in the car and headed out--not sure why he didn't take the bus that day.

I got less than halfway to the school and decided that the whole thing was ridiculous, so I turned around and went back home. Almost did not make it up one steep hill. The roads were disappearing in show. (I was accustomed to Ohio snows, so it took a lot of snow to make me give up.)

Well, they took attendance on the buses and sent everyone right back home. I was a little put out that Rus got counted absent that day and really did not think that should count as a school day.

I do remember that I loved to substitute on days that snow was likely. I would get paid for a whole day for showing up for a couple of hours or so. Of course, they were crazy hours. I earned that pay!

Lolly said...

Shirley, have you tried skipping or hurling the ball down the lane? ☺

Mema Jo said...

Good morning to all ♥
Weather is good today but 4-5" snow predicted for tomorrow.
I worry that BWE egg cup isn't deep enough..... Lisa's comments on their site is that
1/20/14: Egg Alert!
We have our third egg. There is a small chance that there could be a fourth (it has happened at other nests), so if there is, it would be here by the end of Wednesday.
I'm Praying for the snow storm to just be a light snowfall in Cambridge

Hoda said...

So what happens?
I leave for a short while and now LOLLY is hurling balls at SHIRLEY??? Sounds unfriendly to me!!!
Not right that Russ got counted absent!!!
No sign of snow here.
You will not believe this:

I HEARD A ROBIN!
I swear to God I heard a Robin this morning!!!
Nooooooooo
Absolutely NO BROWNIES this morning either!!!
I heard a Robin!!!
It is only the 20 th of January!!!

Judie said...

Speaking of anticipated snow, learning to drive in deep snow/ice in OH was a huge challenge. Remember moving back to VA and the first winter it was announced one morning that schools would be closed "in anticipation" of snow. Still makes me lol.

Mema Jo said...

Sandi maybe you could get your Mom
a protein drink like Ensure to build up her strength.

Great eagle visits this morning...
I think it will be time in about 2 weeks.

I think the word you bowlers are looking for is LOFTING . That is really a no no. You really have to watch your wrist action on those Curving Balls. I wish for all you bowlers a 'turkey' in your bowling adventures........ ♥

Mema Jo said...

Hoda - I saw a robin yesterday. It seems each year they come sooner and then you wonder how they find worms in the snow...........

Judie said...

AH HA HA HA HA

Missing socks?

A robin in Jan. in B.C.?

Hoda said...

Wait a minute there MISS JUDIE!!!
Cancelling school in anticipation of snow???
Canadian kids would have no school then!!! LOL
JO turkey days are over. November and December!!!
Now you want the bowlers to have turkey days??? No wonder everyone is having such a hard time with this game!!! Unless it is real turkeys you are talking about which would be very hard on the turkey population!!!

Judie said...

See a robin or two several days a week. I think some winter-over these days. Still makes me think of Spring.

Agree, Ensure would be a good source of nutrition.

MT nest but sounded like tap-dancing on the camera.

stronghunter said...

Gobble, gobble, gobble!!!

A turkey in bowling is three consecutive strikes.

Sandi said...

With tomorrows forecast Lisa called Moms doctor who has now ordered a follow up chest xray for today that he can compare to the one from a week ago. Waiting for mom to get out of the shower and then we will be off and running - make that off and walking very slowly! ;)

Fingers crossed that things look good on the films.

Later.

stronghunter said...

Lofting--went back for some research. It seems that lofting the ball is not really an no-no anymore, but too much loft might not be a good idea.

Now I know what to call the thing one of the women in our league does. She lofts the ball, and it comes down with a loud thud. It can be a distraction.

I found lots of information on acceptable lofting, though, and the effect it has on hooking. I think it is good to hook right before you hit the head pin so that you are in the pocket at the right angle. In other words, you want to hit the head pin on the side--that is the pocket. I have been working on that, but I just aim for the edge of the board that runs down to the head pin.

stronghunter said...

Oh my, yes they are saying 1-3 inches of snow here for tomorrow. That is a change.

Mema Jo said...

Sandi - prayers for those X-Rays ♥
You may want a wheel chair for transporting Mom rather then her walking - at least when you arrive at the hospital put her in one and get her to where she needs to be rather then using up all her energy ♥
I wish you well ♥

stronghunter said...

Prayers, Sandi.

Yes, get a wheelchair.

Mema Jo said...

We are looking for 3-6" snow

I am going to be wise and go ahead and reschedule my eye appointment for tomorrow..... Don't want the stress of waiting and wondering about the snowfall...... ♥

Janet said...

Good afternoon. Sunny and almost 60 here. I had to turn the a/c on in the house! It got hot and stuffy.
The biopsy went okay. We were out of there in 30 min. With this cold he has on top of it, he is in bed asleep. I am a little concerned, that is my trick not his. I am hoping it is just the effects of the Benadryl (all he could take prior to biopsy), the anesthesia, and the cold….i checkedon him a bit ago, he said he is okay.
SANDI: what about veggie smoothies or even fruit smoothies? Will your mom drink those? You could add all sorts of lovely healthy ingredients! Would provide lots of healthy chi, fiber, water, and you could add protein to it, such as nut butters.
We are anticipating some colder weather here as well, starting tomorrow with chances of snow. But ours will likely only be flurries again. (sad face)
SHIRLEY: I know I am not ready for a curved ball. Its all I can do to handle this durn 10 pound ball I am now using! My 8 lb ball had so many chips I could not control it anymore.
Its been busy. Olivia and I have been outside. I’ve scooped the yard, took the water off the pool cover again, cleaned car windows, put rain-x back on them, filled the washer fluid reservoirs…. Just getting ready for some rainy/snowy days.
Olviia has the rabbit outside now. In a bit I will fix her lunch and then start to prepare to take her to the dentist. Had to promise a milk shake after and a plate of perogies for dinner! Lol. That’s okay, tom isn’t much for eating either. We had a plate of scrambled eggs and toast when we got home.
All right, see ya later!

It is sunny, no wind and 74! We have been in the yard working but have stopped for the day. Think we may see the end in sight. After that Jack has two trees to take down.

Need to go bathe. I am filthy! Yep, really grubby! One tends to get that way when raking, blowing, and down on the knees clipping. Planning on running the sprinkler system Wed. It is so dry!

No word from the trailer folks, Grrrrr!

Hoda said...

OK for all you computer savvy folks...
Windows XP is out as of April 18.
Now I need to decide Windows 7 or 8.1
What do you think?
PAULA SHAR LOLLY SANDI JUDIE SHIRLEY?
anyone else with experience in this area?
THANK YOU.
Good idea JO on the reschedule.
Thank you SHIRLEY for the bowling terminology!

JudyE, Darth has Windows 8 on the laptop. A real serious PIA to learn. I use Windows 7.

Janet, I do apologize. Must have missed a comment about a biopsy. Whomever, I hope all is okay.

Lolly, get thee to a shower.

Bye

Hoda said...

Thank you JUDIE. I was the one who asked about Windows 7 or 8.

Drinking tea as if it is going out of style today
Not sure what is up with that!!!
Thirsty for tea!!!

Good Afternoon Eagle Buds !!!

HODA, you've heard a harginger of Spring ! A good omen. We have robins here year round and there are a number of sparrows who hang around, too. Crazy little critters, but I love their tenacity ! 36° today so we're getting a good melt before the 1-3 inches of snow expected later tonight. Then the bottom drops out as a "piece of leftover Polar Vortex" zooms in for a stay well into February. Pray that LORI's nearby groundhog has good news for us this year !!!

SANDI, so glad to hear you're all heading for Radiology with you Mom and praying for some good improvement in those images !

Sunny and in the 70°'s in Texas and time to turn the A/C on in Tennessee ! Be still my heart !

JANET, praying for good results on that biopsy !!!

JO, I'm with you on canceling plans on these snowy days--stresses the lungs to breathe in frigid air and then there is the Momster Falling Rule that must be considered always ! I canceled the haircut for tomorrow and it is the third week I've done so. I may have bangs hanging down over my eyes before this winter is over.

SHIRLEY, bottom line on the bowling is--just keep up the good practice sessions and play with your team for the pure pleasure ! You will continue to improve, no doubt about it ! I loved bowling and wound up being quite good at it, but now I can't grasp the ball due to arthritic fingers. Boo-hoo

Hope you're all having a good MLK Day, whether using it for fun or reflection or both.

Hoda said...

Good to read your post KAY.
First the bangs, then hooped ear rings, then the jeans and I see you too headed for a tat!
Pictures please.

Hoda said...

Prayers JANET.
Keep us updated on TOM.

Kay said...

HODA, I drink tea every day, sometimes hot and sometimes iced. The latter even in winter--my ice tea maker is in use year round for you can't take the Arizona out of this gal. Iced tea is available everywhere year round now, but I remember the day when waitresses in Ohio would give me a very puzzled look when I asked, "do you have iced tea ?".

Kay said...

LOL, HODA ! Your image of me is a hoot !!! I will more likely resemble a sheepdog---I'll let you know if they really can see through all that furry hair. If I do for a tat you can be sure it will be an eagle or Liberty with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ !

Lolly said...

I am now clean an smell good. LOL

Hoda I have 8.1 and doing well with my new laptop.

Sandi said...

Back from getting Mom's xrays - what an ordeal! They took 4 then told her to get dressed then told her they had to do one over. By the time she was finished I was afraid Mom was going to pass out from the pain. Lisa should get answers tomorrow IF she is able to get Mom to the appointment.

Hoda check you FB. I sent you a link to an article about XP that's worth reading before you make a decision.

Packing up to get on the road. Forecasters are calling for 5-10" of snow with this next storm starting around 11am tomorrow. I hope we can squeeze the day in tomorrow and just have an early dismissal.

Will check in from home.

SANDI, so sorry your Mom was put through that ordeal. Don't like hearing that she's in such pain and hope the pics show them the way to a solution. Praying for her and for safe travel as you head back to DE. ♥♥♥

Kay said...

OMG, while I was posting I became aware of something on the move at my feet. In a sec Penny was at my feet and then sniffing at back of the desk. I moved a small file cabinet and within another second Penny had killed a very young mouse ! She wasn't interested in eating it and I scooped it up and threw it outside for some lucky cat. I can't find a point of entry, but Penny is sniffing like a bloohound all around and behind the desk. Have to ask the neighbors if they spotted any signs of a mouse family in the basement. A couple of them do their laundry down there. Ugh !

Mema Jo said...

Good Supper Time to all ♥

Sandi - safe travels home
Our snow may start early morning (7am) and continue throughout the entire day into evening. I hope not!
Daughter and family are driving now up from Aiken SC a 10 hr drive. They have been on the road since morning. With 3 drivers they will drive straight through to Baltimore.

JudyEddy said...

stronghunter said...

I have Windows 7, Hoda. I am not well-informed on later versions.

Mema Jo said...

Janet - Hopefully this extra sleep that Tom is acquiring will help him feel better. Praying for good report on the biopsy.

Kay - I rescheduled and had to go up to Feb 10 for my eye exam but I don't
have any worries now.

I'll need to look back to earlier comments this am - I can't find Lori.
I bet her project is almost completed

carolinabeachmom said...

Yes, Shirley, I think that is the wind blowing.

Jo, I was on Facebook where it was cheese day so to have a toasted cheese sandwich. You are right on the ball.

Missed the eagles. Decided to strip the beds in the guest rooms and get ready for next visitors and that will be in two weeks.

My sister Sharon and hubby, Dan and brother Larry and wife, Sandy are all coming. Only Larry and Sandy will stay here as Sharon and Dan will be in their RV. The six of us usually get together in December but that was not convenient this year.

I have taken over the trailer. Jack called, did not get a call back. I complained when he was not acting. He handed me the phone. I talked with a nice young man. He said he would get on it. I told him we were not getting return phone calls and he promised me. He did call me back, he has talked with the service manager at the Ft. Worth store and he is to call me. I told him I was beginning to think that we were not getting good customer service. He told me to call him back, if they did not call to set up an appointment to get the trailer. hee hee hee....I'll show Jack!

I do hope you saw hp. Last year we were seeing a lot of it. Miss that!
