Evening, all.

Just popping in to say good night.

Didn't get to go look for the nest, it was foggy and drizzly all day. Went shopping instead :) Got a new small flat screen for my bedroom...the old 13" TV was about gone...could hardly hear it. Had Chinese for dinner and watched the Good Wife.

Will catch up later,

SED, love and hugs to all. ♥

Great day for me and I am relaxed and feeling a sense of wellness.

MRS DUDLEY DO RIGHT IT IS THEN MISS JUDIE!!! I laughed.

Won't touch with a ten foot pole NJ Cowboys tossinf one of SHIRLEY'S daughters in the air!!! Maybe it is time to have a heart to heart talk SHIRLEY...I was not so worried about the number of cows there is pretty good NJ yoghurt that sells here and is very popular. They must have cows there then!!! LOL!!!

SANDI and others, I disagree. Paper to cover a window is a fire hazard and the fire marshal would have lots to say about it...Sexual concerns in a classroom is not only for the protection of the student it is for th eprotection of the teachers for false accusations...same with locking the doors from the inside...I am sorry Sandy Hook happened but I do not think this is the new norm!!!What is it teaching students any way...I do not like what is happening at all. In California two chaps walked around down a normal street with assault rifles to protect citizens...REALLY???

magpie said...

Bedtime here also.
Certainly second Jo's thoughts and words on " God Bless Us All and Help Us through this New Week ♥ "

Was wondering about whether you and Larry got to go look for the nest Paula...see that you didn't but sounds like you filled your time well with other things

Prayers for Wellness, All Around...

Thinking of Lynn♥ Carolyn♥
and Christie♥

God Bless Us,
Every One xoxo ♥

Time for me to quit for the night.

Congratulations, Lolly. While you were taking down your tree, though, I was having a nice dinner out with three of my four children and my grandchild.

stronghunter said...

Hoda, I am sure there are cows in NJ. A couple of people who have lived there confirmed this for me on FB. Just hard to picture a NJ cowboy.

I think Susan can take care of herself in the big city. She is a grown woman, so I would not worry too much about her. I did not raise dumb daughters, after all. But I do want to know how she came to be tossed by a cowboy.

stronghunter said...

The window in the door is pretty small, Hoda. I think our fire department uses a percentage when determining how much surface can be covered by paper. Were you not allowed to put any papers on the bulletin boards, etc.?

Hoda said...

Goodnight.

PRAYERS♥

Hoda said...

You are a GREAT MOM SHIRLEY.

Bulletin boards are made of fire retardents and yes we put paper on them. Covering the thin windows on the doors and decorating the doors were not allowed as per the fire marshal as it is an EXIT and they had to remain unobstructed.

Lolly said...

LOL Shirley....glad you had a great dinner out.

Jack and I have been watching Downton Abbey this evening. Really enjoy that program. Now Annie is sitting on my chest and purring. Will not let me type!

Night all...heading towards bed!

I love us!! SED!

Lolly said...

My window I covered was a small rectangle, about 4 x 15. No problem at all!!!

stronghunter said...

Had not heard that about the "street defenders" in California.

If a door is locked from the inside, it is my understanding it can still be opened from the inside; however, there could be a problem if an adult needed to get in to manage students and the students could not or would not open the door. A key would be needed immediately. Could be a problem if there was a big emergency--a fight, for instance.

Once, in the classroom next door to me, a kid went nuts and attacked another kid. There were three teachers in the room because it was a collaborative class. Furniture was being thrown. I called our emergency number, as did the teacher on the other side, but one teacher was injured and required surgery. She intervened because she was afraid the angry kid was going to kill the other kid, and because one of the other teachers was pregnant. Those teachers were too busy to open a door, even though there were three of them.

Once when I was teaching summer school, a teacher on my hall walked into her supposedly empty classroom (which she had left unlocked). She found a young couple in there in a very compromising situation. Another time, (same classroom), we found a man who had decided to sleep there. It turned out he was a bus driver who was to take students on a trip and had been told to go find a room and take a nap. Nevertheless, it was unnerving and not the best thing to have happen. I agree that there needs to be discussion and a lot of thought put into the best way to protect students.

stronghunter said...

Your fire marshall would have probably had fits over our homecoming decorations, Hoda. I have pictures. I think some are on my blog. We did have rules, but I think they got broken sometimes. We were not supposed to have window curtains unless they were flame retardant. I found that out after I put up curtains, but no one told me I had to take them down. I needed something to cover the window when the original blinds fell apart.

stronghunter said...

And, yeah, you would think the teacher would have locked the room after finding the couple there.
Wonder what might have happened if they could have locked themselves in? Hmmm.

Costume Lady said...

Speaking of locking doors from the inside of the room: our bedroom doors can only be locked from the inside and we have a 'key' above the nursery door that is put into the hole in the doorknob which then, opens the door. I would imagine most of you have the same set up. We have had to use that key more than once to get access to the nursery and bathroom when Jillian and Brandon were toddlers! Once, we forgot to put the 'key' back in it's place and used a small screwdriver, which did the trick! Jayden is not here often enough to have locked himself in. Most of our visits with family is at GG's so she can see her family.

Sandman is near...don't want to have any face-plants tonight, so...
Good night, sweet dreams and love and prayers for all♥

Have a good week with those kindergarten kids, Dana!

stronghunter said...

I will be heading back to the stores. Got the wrong sizes for Will.

And then there is still that Christmas tree to deal with.

Nice and quiet here now. Hunter got safely off to school after having to prove to me that he could make the bus and still push it to the edge. I just came up to my room and left the rascal be. Watched him walk across the yard from an upstairs window.

Kathryn's upcoming job change--it is a good thing. She will be advancing. Yes, there has been a bit of drama, but that is the way things go sometimes. This week should be interesting.

Anyone else, if you have the problem....it says page not available but then lists things you might be looking for...and one is eagle cam. I had to reset everything in favorites.

Sandi said...

About the live cam page and the "page not found" ... remember that today is the day the Outdoor Channel was doing away with their forum. I guess they reconfigured the site and perhaps the URL for the live cam changed slightly, so now folks have to redo their bookmarks/favorites.

Hoda said...

Well thank you for the eagle reports...

SHIRLEY. I saw your pictures of the door decorations and no the fire marshal in the town where I taught in Alberta would have taken them down. He was given permission to visit all the schools in the district after school and what ever he saw that he did not approve was reported to the Principal and had to be taken down the same day...

I still would rather hope this is not the new normal for the USA.

Had an awesome Cranial Sacreal treatment and life is very good...she is an excellent practitioner.

Sorry about ANGIE'S dog JUDIE and JORDYN.

I appreciate the clues about the cam and will go check it out...
Reasonable to think it is connected to the changes that were due to happen today.

Hoda said...

I love the ease with which you get dogs SHARON and THELMA...I have been thinking of it for years and yet have not acted on it...
Maybe when I go in a retirement home I will find one that takes little dogs.

stronghunter said...

Hoda,

The fire marshal came to my classroom one time and took away an extension cord. I was given an approved cord in its place. Kids asked if I was trying to burn down the school and I assured them that I was not.

We had odd rules. One rule was that if your door had an automatic closer, you had to keep the door closed, but if you did not, you could leave the door open. Go figure.

Hoda said...

OK I reset my favourite for the eagle cam and thank you very much for the instructions everyone.
Empty Nest.

Hoda said...

SHIRLEY Yes school rules accumulate and they are a response to the events that happened and someone seeing there is a need or someone afraid that they might be challenged if there was no action taken to address a situation that the community sees as a concern. I am afraid in education I felt we lacked leadership and followed the herd so to speak!!!
I come from a region were guns have caused a lot of damage. I remember when I first came to the USA I could not believe it that there were no guns. In 1967 when I returned the plane was met by people carrying semi automatic weapons and I became very afraid and wanted to stay on the plane on its return trip to sanity and what I felt was "HOME"...I liked that very much about AMERICA...the land of the free and the home of the brave did not require semi automatic guns and did not live in a state of war...I hope it does not change...Enough and I will delete this if anyone thinks it is political or if it offends anyone. It was not my intention.

JudyEddy said...

hey I noticed the link on the front of the blog doesn't go to the Live feed also someone should tell STEVE about it
