Took a nap with Bella (like DMo said, I'll miss the ability to do that next week) and missed an eagle visit! =( Wanda, happy that Karla is home, even though it hurt to get there! I need a "household tip" from Kay (or anyone else) - yoohoo, are you there Kay? Last night I burned dinner and I'm not talking slightly burned. I'm talking turned the wrong burner on high - it was the burner with the skillet of chicken and rice, not the burner where I was trying to boil water; then I left the room until the smoke detectors went off. No flames, but I had to throw the skillet away b/c the bottom of it was completely ruined. Of course, the chicken and rice was also ruined but I am the world's worst cook so that was laughable (we ate cereal for dinner). So here's the problem - I have been burning 4 Yankee candles since I woke up this AM and the house still smells like burned food! Surely someone knows a solution???
I'm home......of course another snafu! Transport did NOT show up! ARGH! Called....the boss got confused. So hightailed it in myslef---was only 5 mins. late. And it was like Siberia in there again. Had to wait to see the Dr., too. And they want me 15 mins. earlier tomorrow.....bet they want to get done earlier on a Fri. before a holiday weekend!
Asked at the pharmacy what my co-pay was on the generic Zofran. $90!!!!!!!! Tech (who I've known for 30 yrs. in that capacity) said "let me check something." Came back and said that if I just pay it all out of pocket, bypassing Medicare, the TOTAL cost was $16. SO WHAT DO DOES TELL YOU???? Rip-off of the system????? Or what??? But then Christie talked to Shannon's aunt who is pharmacist at CVS and she says "no way." So, who knows??
Many fine words spoken here this afternoon addressing other's maladies, humor, presence, etc. And I can only say I agree wholeheartedly that we are the most caring group of people on earth!
As JudyE would say, cool beans watching Jordan (so cute) and the feeding frenzy. Really nice. Liked the squirrel, too.
Wanda, so glad Karla is home. The ride up the mountain would be a nightmare but, as said, pain med and her own bed will work wonders. Sending a prayer along.
Is Lynn back from her treatment yet? Hope she got the Zofran.
Thank you for not complaining about my long journey home. Hope to stay reasonably caught up. Now must head to the kitchen to seek inspiration for chicken tenders.
SANDI, the best thing that I have used for that smell is Febreeze upholstery and rug deodorizer. Just spray as if to freshen the air and on furniture too, if any of it smells like "ruined dinner". Someone may have a better suggestion~
Wanda, Febreeze, don't have any but a good idea! Judie, had the windows open for about an hour last night and for a half hour today but it's not exactly "open up the windows and let the fresh air in" weather - I think our high for today was 40 degrees. Lynn, Brian and Lynnis went to P.I.G.S. on Christmas Eve; we were driving to Balto. so we weren't able to go with them. They've been in Balto. visiting friends and Lynnis's family this week but will be here this weekend and next week before they return to Africa.
Back from the funeral. It was good that we went and I know Dennis' best friend from childhood and the whole family appreciated our coming.
Carol Anne - To close that A, you needed to put a forward slash just before it. It would be /a to close inside the parentheses things. I am using my iPad and it does not have those on the keyboard to my knowledge!
Wanda - Poor Karla!, I remember the rides home following surgery, too. Add rough terrain and it adds to the pain exponentially. I hope she can rest and keep those pain meds going on a regular basis for a couple more days to stay ahead of the pain. Otherwise, if she waits until she feels the pain, she may never get the proper relief. That is what I was told right after surgery, just for the first few days. I am not a fan of those pain pills, but then again, I am not a fan of PAIN either!
SANDI - Mom use to boil some vineger water on the stove after a "happening". She'd let it boil for a few minutes then shut it off & let it cool. Sometimes she would wring a cloth out in vineger water and sort of swish it thru the air as she walked thru the house.
Yes, Carol Anne. In order to close any of those three HTML tags we can use on this blog, you close them with the / just just before the letter at the end of your tag . Give it a try. We are great guinea pigs!
Technically speaking, no, it doesn't. iSwifter and kindred apps actually stream content from a server somewhere that does run Flash and converts the output to a format the iOS device can play. Flash isn't actually running on the iOS device. Sort of the same effect, but brings limitations: it requires an Internet connection - Flash content cannot be downloaded to the iPad and played - and all such apps/services are less than perfect in their conversion and performance.
Paula - It sure would be nice if Apple and Flash worked together. Flash is everywhere. It amazes me that apple sells as much as it does without the ability to use flash.
Paula- I downloaded iSwifter a few days back and it didn't allow me to see the nest. It looked like a game app to me so I deleted it. I was probably doing something wrong. Do you open the app then go to the website?
Judy, when you get back from your trip to the park and read, you'll see that you missed a short visit, but being outside w/ Jordyn being a good Grandma is FAR more important!
Their 'beaking' isn't always a sign of affection... Sometimes I think it is their way of saying 'don't do that' It is just that their beaking looks too aggressive at times
Wanda said that this time last year you were seeing HP w/ Belle and Lib. Isn't it still early for that? I thought someone posted recently that eggs are laid just 5 days after they're fertilized and it's still just December. Do they do a lot of practicing before the HP that fertilizes the eggs? This is the first year I've watched a nest before the eggs were even laid.
Paula - I tried iSwifter again and it worked. It cost $4.99, but it was worth it. The fact that I couldn't get the cam was a bit of a deal breaker for me. I didn't want to tell Dennis!!
Now if I could figure out how to split screen the iPad, it would be awesome. Guess I am asking for a bit much. Do I want a laptop or a tablet??
SANDI, several ideas for burnt food odor. Boil lemon slices in water or white vinegar on stove top for a while. Sit small containers of charcoal or vinegar around the room. Open a tray of kitty litter and leave it sitting in the kitchen overnight. If you have cats----well, you know.☺
LYNN, I know you're getting sick of snafus and med pricing ! Why does everything have to be so difficult. Arrrggggghhh.
Lynn - I wonder if the pharmacist ran your prescription as if you had no insurance (medicare or otherwise) and that is why the price was significantly reduced. Does make one wonder.....
LINDA, good on you ! You made it through a rough spot and feel good about it. I'm sure those friends/former neighbors were thrilled to see you and Dennis there ! God bless you !
OK, I now have vinegar and water and lemon slices and water simmering on the stove - let's hope I don't burn the pots!! =D Linda, our younger son has no health/dental insurance. Yet, when he goes to my dentist or doctor, he gets charged the same amount they charge me, even though they inflate their charges knowing that the insurance company is only going to pay a portion. Such a racket!!
Sandi - That is so ridiculous that the dentist won't just charge what most insurance companies pay.
We have finally found a dentist who is actually right here in the town next to us and when Dennis had to have his crown, and the insurance company said he was maxed out for the year (they will only pay $1000 per year - no matter what), she said she would only charge what the insurance company normally charges.
We sure appreciated that. $1000 is nothing these days, if you have to get any fillings and forget it if you need a root canal and a crown. That will set you back about $2500, right?
Even though my son is out and on his own, he is 24 and we were able to keep him on our insurance plan and will do so until he is 26 as long as that doesn't change. It helps him because his plan at work is lousy and he has to pay part of it.
Sandi - I get a kick out of you not being a cook!! We've got our resident gourmet cook, Lolly here. Gene and Wanda can cook up a storm as well and if we could smell through these computers, the aroma of good cooking would be awesome!
I've been one of those who isn't all that confident in the kitchen either. I have some dishes I make really good, but I am not one for venturing out and trying new recipes like Lolly. Too afraid I will screw it up!!
Plus when you have a good cook like my dubby in the house, it is a little intimidating!! He can cook all he wants. I love being called to dinner!! I have to cook more in the spring and summer months because he is working outside so much, but I enjoy it when he cooks!
Linda, We kept Kevin on our insurance til he was 24 but he's 28 now and still living here. Music is his passion - not sure when/if he will ever break down and get a 9-5 job. He has bartended and waited a lot of tables. He just started giving piano/voice lessons at a small music studio but again, there are no insurance benefits. I don't like his choices but he is my son and I love him!
Sandi - Hopefully something will break for your son in the way of a job soon. Music is a tough industry, but if it is what he loves, at least he can be happy with his choice!!
Well, Andrew and Kelsey made it to town. They are out at Sissy's. I don't get off work until 7:30 - UGH!! I HATE IT! I hate him being this close and I can't hang with them.
Oops--I disappeared. Sorry. Went to sofa to rest while the new med kicked in, and had a really good nap---with Liesl, of course!! Feel human again now!!! Have my 2nd P.H. perosnal pan warming in the oven!
Sandi, a pot of vinegar water simmering on the stove might help!
My son also loves music and plays guitar with the worship band at church from time to time. I am pleased that he pursued his engineering degree for his main job and plays music more as a hobby and as a service type of thing.
It is good when they choose something they can support themselves with.
Dennis' son is trying to finish his degree this year (6th year....Ugh) and we are praying he finds a job he is happy with. His degree is Biology, but he does not want to go on to medical school. He thinks he may want to teach, but we shall see.
I always tried to push him to think of the job he wanted to pursue in seeking the degree, so he could support himself, but sometimes they just don't know what they really want to do then.
Eagles & Falcons 12/28/2011 :: News From the Nest Ledge
A new male peregrine has been visiting the nest ledge since the first week in November. This bird is not banded and appears to be somewhat larger and younger than the resident male. The resident male peregrine was last seen in conflict with the new male on November 30th. The new male has since made food offerings to the female and they appear to be pair-bonding. It is likely that the new male was successful in his challenge for the nest site and resident female. The resident male may have been driven away or possibly killed. Any information falcon cam viewers provide regarding falcon sightings and interactions would be of great value in determining what we can expect for the 2012 nesting season.
Andrew will be student-teaching next fall I think. After he graduates, he wants to get his Masters in conducting. Love that kid.
He was told by his family doc today that the MRI showed that he has tendinitis in his shoulder and to see an orthopedic doctor. His shoulder is still giving him a fit.
Just finished drying my hair and the heat makes me soo sleepy. Maybe a walk outside will refresh me...supper won't be too bad to fix. Some left-overs and a baked sweet potatoes. Gene has been asked not to eat too much meat (although, I am the meat eater). We have 1 T-Bone steak left over from a grill full that Gene fixed 2 days ago. We have had it 2 days and some went to GG. Fortunately, Gene is more of a potatoes guy than meat...but he does like a good steaK. At the prices they charge these days...we don't have it very often. BBL
Just read where you were talking about me. Love to try new recipes! Have found the most delicious dishes that way. However, tonight mini pizzas bought from grandson. LOL!!!
Linda is right, Wanda----stay ahead of the pain; much harder to catch up once it takes hold!
Sandi, too bad the kids made the trip here without you. :(
Thanks, Paula...thought I was right about SnipIt.
Oh, yes, Linda, the NO insurance price was the $16 one......hence my take that the system is getting ripped off---along with the insured person who has the co-pay.
Paula, I think only Deb had a Mac....can't recall anyone else.
Whoo Hoo---Andrew's home, along with sweet Kelsey! Finish that work, Shar!!!
I was going to try a new recipe for Christmas, a pecan praline pumpkin cheesecake, but ran out of time. Told Laurel I was going to make it for my birthday. LOL She will not have to bake me anything.
I thought so LYNN!!! The transport came in the morning and I did not think they would come back in the afternoon. UPSETTING. I am glad you managed and I hope it does not repeat tomorrow. Very curious about the price difference in the medication...is it a generic drug or the same like you asked for? Still the difference is huge...Generic drugs are lower here and yet not that much lower...MTBR indeed. Keep us posted.
KAY the whole area is surrounded by mountains...the town of Nelson itself has never had an avalanche go through it but outside of town limits the roads have frequently been closed because of avalanches and mud slides in spring...it is 45degrees right now and the melt is great and the conditions are worriesome. I am not concerned for my safety however as I have no plans to be out on the highway...Incoming food supplies could always be rerouted I am sure...
KARLA is home and that is good news. Happy healing.
It is a big thing to learn how to drive and best wishes go to ADAM and Grandpa...
Videos with music are good JUDYE. THANKS.
JO how are you feeling today...still with hip pain?
I had a wonderful time at the library and came back with four new books and ordered some DVD's and asked for two books to be on reserve or come through interlibrary loans... good day.
CAROLANNE in the senior citizens homes they do yoga on a chair...the more peopel that do exercise the better they are... I am not at all sure about loud music and yoga though...I struggle with that issue with one of the teachers at the studio...the drums are a bit annoying for me...
I need to go get lunch...I had yogurt fruit and cereal in the morning and I am now hungry...it is 3:27 PM my time so it is time to think of lunch...
We had applesauce cinnamon pancakes for dinner - I CAN do breakfast! Dennis and Kevin just laughed when I called them to the table to eat! =D I may not be able to cook like Lolly or Wanda, but I could get their kitchen floors so clean they could eat their gourmet meals off of them! It's good to be able to recognize our strengths and our flaws! BTW, thanks to CarolAnne's and Kay's suggestions, my kitchen is back to smelling like a kitchen rather than like last night's burned chicken and rice!! Off to watch some TV - Notre Dame is playing in the Toilet Bowl (it's not really called that but it's a nothing bowl so ...) and they're winning at the half, so I'll watch the 2nd half with Dennis. Any suggestions for a good movie to see on New Year's Eve? Has anyone seen The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo?
LYNN Lunch is just now cooking so I think it is early supper...I could not think of what I wanted and just now finished with pealing vegetables, carrots and broccoli and am stir frying some garlich and tofu...I will have them with rotini noodles and that will be it...simple but will hit the spot...I am drinking a cup of hot barley drink while I am waiting. The kitchen smells good...
It is Michael's last night here. His plane leaves at 6am tomorrow morning, which means a trip to the airport leaving at 4am!! Yikes!!
I think I will go take a nice hot shower now and see if I can loosen up these muscles in the top of my back into my neck. I don't know what is going on, but I have that kink in the middle of my back and it is making my neck stiff now.
If it isn't one thing, it's another. I am afraid to take a muscle relaxer for fear I will be out cold for two days!! LOL I am such a light weight!!
Good evening folks....been a busy day. Was in the 50's...warm enough and sunny enough to drop the top on the car, but wasn't in my car today. :( oh well there's alwasy tomorrow...everyone seems to have been chatting up a storm today.... :)
paula: yes that is one of my favorite movies. i also like oh brother where art thou? not a lot of people get it...but we have watched it many times....i'm not into the violent movies nor really graphic ones. so, as you can imagine i don't watch a lot of movies.
anywho: its past 8 my time. i'm about to turn into a pumpkin. time to feed the cats and hit the bed shortly. good night ya'll, happy chatting and i'll try to touch base again tomrorow! :D

Hello....I didn't get lost. I had a wonderful visit from our Margy on her way home from Berkeley Springs!!! SO glad to see her, and to show off my Christmas house in the dark!!!
SANDI, happy to hear the vinegar and lemons did the trick ! Tonight's dinner sounds yummy !
SHARON, love your motherly enthusiasm ! Sounds like Andrew will need an injection only---so much better than surgery !
LYNN, what happy news from you as well. Med allowing you to get some rest and then a visit with MARGY ! Great therapy !
HODA, thanks for the avalanche answer. Be safe !
Making note of prayer requests and will be praying for our already long list of those in need. Sorry we've added more aches and pains with THELMA's injury, LINDA's upper neck and back and JO's thighs. Here's hoping you'll all get some pain free rest tonight !
Two deadly avalanches in British Columbia today. Neither one of them is in my area. One in Pemberton North of Whistler and Vancouver. I have friends that live there and I just phoned. He was out today, Kevin Titus is his name with his twins. They however did not get cuaght in the Avalanche there. The other one is in Revelstoke...not much is coming out of that one and they are still searching for survivors in both areas. Police has not declared it a Recovery Mission yet...so sad ever so very sad...it happens every year.
I finished my book today and have been doing word games on my kindle. Jack is in the study watching the STARS. He can sit closer to the TV in there. I have the den and the fire all to myself. Perfect for reading and enjoying the peace.
We got up into the 60's today and upper 60's tomorrow. I cleared leaves out of the pond and stream this afternoon. We are going to work in the yard tomorrow.
Loretta, I know you thoroughly enjoyed having Sherry home. You are just going to have to come to Texas this year to see her.
Oh, dear, doesn't Thelma know that the rule is NO MORE FALLS. Prayers for sure.
Hoping the vinegar and lemons do the trick for you Sandi.
Sorry Thelma is having some difficulty from her fall. May she be all better quickly or will see a doctor.
Happy Andrew, Kelsey, and Mattie are all safe and well with Sharon.
Paula, enjoy the time with Michael and Laura.
Hoda, stay safe.
STOP IT! JUST STOP IT RIGHT NOW! STUPID SANDPERSON. Can't see I'm trying to catch up on the blog. Keeps turning the light off and trying to snatch me away to the pillows.
Well, I guess I am tired. Tomorrow's adventure is lunch with my Interpol buddy.
The night light is on for anyone who needs to arise in the darkness, for anyone headed back the hallway, down to the tub, or arriving late from the West coast. Restful sleep for all.
I guess T-bird must have forgotten that rule, Lolly! Sure wish we had some of the 60's! Imagine Janet talking about putting the car top down. In our dreams!
We've had sporadic snow squalls this evening, but I haven't seen them im the dark!

"Be kinder than necessary, for everyone is fighting some kind of battle."
Another rough day here but things could be worse. Whoever said to staY ahead of the pain made a good point. I'm guilty of not listening to that good advice.
Sorry to hear of Thelma's fall but hope it's nothing serious. Prayers for a quick recovery.
Happy to 'hear' Sharon's excitement. Have a great time with Andrew and Kelsey. Hope Andrew's shoulder heals quickly.
Also good to 'see' Judie again. She and her sense of humor have been missed.
Please forgive my typos. I'm working on an older Gateway laptop and it's fighting my typing.
Max will be here tomorrow. Hope I'm up to coping with an almost 4 year old. Wish I could bottle some of his energy.
In case I don't get back before next year, please have a good, healthy and safe New Year. Love you guys bunches!! Can't make hearts on this... so .... big((((((HUGS)))))
Oh, Jo gave you the update at Harrisburg falcon cam. Just had a new female last year, now an intruder male. New blood here too.
Hi, Diann! Hope that Max rejuvenates you and helps make that pain fade! But DO take your meds!!!! Certainly hope we do see you before the old year ends, but in case we don't: Have a happy celebration and a better new Year!
Tub is calling my name. I will see you all tomorrow. leep tight....don't let the bed bugs bite!!
LYNN, so far the news says skiers and snow boarders triggered the avalanche in Pemberton and I am not sure if it was skiers or skidoos for Revelstoke...both were in areas considered to be off limits for high avalanche danger. They made a mistake...should not have been there.
I have listened to Blake's JERUSALEM and it touches my soul...here are the words
Jerusalem Hymn And did those feet in ancient time Walk upon England's mountain green? And was the holy Lamb of God On England's pleasant pastures seen? And did the countenance divine Shine forth upon our clouded hills? And was Jerusalem builded here Among those dark satanic mills?
Bring me my bow of burning gold! Bring me my arrows of desire! Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold! Bring me my chariot of fire! I will not cease from mental fight, Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand, Till we have built Jerusalem In England's green and pleasant land.
So uplifting...GOD BLESS their souls. I hope they found their JERUSALEM.
I'm all a'twinkly after visiting Lynn and her beautiful Lair...so much to see...all so beautiful, mostly the Lady of the Lair....... got some Liesl Lovins' too ! ♥
had to take a bath after bowling alley, movie theater...and a little of this and that...
so I'm right far behind in catching up, but I do see new prayer need for T-Bird and her back...I'm IN with those prayers.....
going to try to catch up, might save some comments for the morning....
Happy Max-ing Diann... Enjoy it to the Max... ☺ and hope YOU feel better soon also !
JUDYE I am glad your coworker is back safe and sound from Afghanistan. What a great gift you used to send her...books are a treasure...to be able to read a true blessing.
I'm short on knowledge base for comprehending it all, but....it's never too late to learn!
Not too late, perhaps, if it has not been done already, to remind:
RED FRIDAY...last one for this calendar year....Find your Best Reds, as a tribute to our Military....they safeguard our freedoms every moment of EVERY day
Saw one lone Tundra Swan on a pond near James's house....afraid he or she might have gotten separated from its migrating pals..... hope it can get re-united with another flock.... could only view from along the road, NOT a good place to get a picture....
MARGY are you talking about Blake's Jerusalem? In England many believe that Jesus walked on English soil and many think that a new Jerusalem was intended there...this is the first verse. The second talks of the passion of building this new Jerusalem as per Jesus' wish...The metaphor is strong for the dream of Jerusalem in our lives. I apologise if I am out of line and this is not what you were wondering about.
CarolAnne brought to my attention, the fact that my email address is listed as the OLD ONE. For those who haven't been able to email me...the new one is the same as the beginning of the old one, but is @comcast.net NOT Verizon!
Looks like I have gone back to my very late night bedtime ritual. Almost 2am...not good!
Good night dear friends, prayers will be said for us all. Sleep tight:)♥
Boy, that was a lot of reading this morning. I got home from work early yesterday, just in time to meet with the man from the waterproofing company that will be doing the repairs/upgrades on the leaky basement, and he was here for 3 hours! Then I had a few hours to get chores done and to bed.
LYNN, glad you finally got the Zofran and at the better price! Makes you wonder.
LINDA and Dennis, have a nice drive to the airport this morning. I know you'll miss your son, but we will do our best to keep you smiling!
Margy, thanks for checking in on our Lynn, yesterday! You are wonderful!
Our JUDIE is back! YAY!!!
Sharon, how big is the smile on your face this morning with Andrew and Chelsea home??? :)
Prayers for Thelma's back, for Lynn, for Diann's pain, Jo's thigh, Margy's family and all who need it, health and otherwise.
Oh, Paula, thanks for the Apple chat. Linda, I will try the iswifter and see if I can get the nest on my iPad. I did read, shortly after Steve Job's death, that Apple and Adobe and come to an agreement on Flash, but they didn't say what it meant. Assuming they'll put it on the upline iPads to come, with hopefully some resolution for those who already have them!
JUDYE, I'll tell y ou about the optical zoom vs. zoom after I get to work. But I think you would be very happy with a 24x optical zoom over the 4 or 5 you have now... I know my SIL has a nikon point and shoot with 12mp's and 26x OZ and she totally loves it. It does take awesome pics.
This Early Bird is wide awake far too early. So, did a catching up read, enjoying all the chat, as usual !
JUDYE, kudos to Carl's parents for raising such a swell sil for you ! I know I'm grateful to my kids in-laws. They did good !
DIANN, 4 year old Max should take your mind off the aches and pains ! I wish I could have some Max time today, but mine is 22 and sooo busy with work and Master's program apps. Enjoy that little guy while you can !
JO and DIANN, thanks for sharing the Harrisburg falcon update ! Guess the "event" at our nest is not unusual in nature. We see such a small slice of what life is like, in the now thousands, of nests in North America.
LYNN, good link on Lily and Faith ! Nice to meet Ted, too. I hadn't seen him before.
MARGY, what a big and wonderful day you had yesterday. Great fun with The Kidster and a nice visit with LYNN ! How sweet it is ! ♥♥
MARGY, good reminder---this is the last RED FRIDAY this year. There were some wonderful reunions this month as our troops left Iraq. Still have those in Afghanistan and bases, posts and ports around the world to remember and honor. God Bless Our Troops !
LORI, did you settle on a name for that little orange kitten ? Will he have to be free of all those pests before he gets acquainted with FloBear, Dalai and his stepkittens ?
Kay, no name for the boy kitten, yet. His fleas should be dead by now and the vet called yesterday to say all his tests came out negative...now he just has to get rid of that respiratory infection to clear the quarantine...7 more days.
Good morning! How is everyone this morning? Looks like I am going into school sometime this morning to get some things done! Can't believe we are going back on Monday.
Okay Kay, I resent it. Yes, I suspect some parents will be glad that the kids are going back to school. I'm sure the kids will have lots of stories about all the goodies they got from Santa. I will probably let them do a show and tell. I usually stay away from that, but they really like it! Our second grade teacher always gets upset at the number of iphones, ipads, and computers that 2nd graders get. I would have to agree with her. My 8th grader doesn't have her own phone yet, but some of these 8 year olds do!
so, Margy, what are those New Year's Resolutions? Good topic for today. I know what mine should be but can't say I've committed to them yet...may not. Can you say committmentphobe!?!?!
Resolutions ? No way. I'll just continue to stumble through life with the same ol' faults n' foibles !
DANAMO, your re-sent e-mail arrived. Thanks ! I read the first line of your 6:29 post and panicked for a brief CRS moment upon reading, "I resent it". What did I say that Dana resents, I thought. LOL
Kay-Aric doesn't go back to school until January 16. I looked ahead on his calendar and he doesn't get much for a "spring" break or an Easter break (4 day weekend for both) but he wraps up by May 4th!!
Yes Lori you are right. I have already started (since my doctor appointment on Wednesday) so maybe this year I will do it with a "little help from my friends". ☺
JudyE should be on soon... Here's what I found to be a good explanation of the Digital Zoom vs Optical Zoom debate:
Optical zoom uses the optics (lens) of the camera to bring the subject closer. Digital zoom is an invention of digital video cameras.
For our purpose, digital zoom is not really zoom, in the strictest definition of the term. What digital zoom does is enlarge a portion of the image, thus ‘simulating’ optical zoom. In other words, the camera crops a portion of the image and then enlarges it back to size. In so doing, you lose image quality. If you’ve been regularly using digital zoom and wondered why your pictures did not look that great, now you know.
DANAMO, those short breaks are worth it since it brings Aric home early in May ! If he likes to get a summer job it puts him in town well before other students are vying for them.

«Oldest ‹Older 601 – 800 of 1340 Newer› Newest»Took a nap with Bella (like DMo said, I'll miss the ability to do that next week) and missed an eagle visit!
Did I miss something about DanaMo's parents' business?
Sandi, so glad that Bella is improving!
What is your son and DIL doing?? Any WV plans?
Um, open the windows, Sandi.
Okay, I see Lynn is home. So sorry about the snafoo but if you can get the meds for $16 do it, run, don't look back!
Bye
JudyE---I tried to download SnipIt to my Vista PC and it wouldn't download. I think it must be strictly a Windows 7 feature, maybe.
Andy - happy to hear you are feeling better from those awful allergies! Where we are, everything is about frozen for a while!
I see sun
shine on the nest
SANDI - Mom use to boil some vineger water on the stove after a "happening". She'd let it boil for a few minutes then shut it off & let it cool. Sometimes she would wring a cloth out in vineger water and sort of swish it thru the air as she walked thru the house.
Snipit is just for windows7
LINDA - Thanks for the info on what I was doing wrong to make blue links. I'll have to re-write my notes. Is that / also needed for bold?
Paula - I searched for an app called flip for Mac and there wasn't one. We're you talking about an app?
I like the ability to use remote desktop, but I don't always want to have to turn on my computer, too. I might as well use my laptop.
Too many gadgets, huh?. Dubby has spoiled me and created a nightmare for me in the process! LOL
Linda, google flip4mac but I think it's only for windows media player files.
Wonder when apple is finally going to get it together with flash?
Yes, Carol Anne. In order to close any of those three HTML tags we can use on this blog, you close them with the / just just before the letter at the end of your tag . Give it a try. We are great guinea pigs!
Linda...found this
The iswifter app does flash on the iPad
And this...
Regards.
Paula - It sure would be nice if Apple and Flash worked together. Flash is everywhere. It amazes me that apple sells as much as it does without the ability to use flash.
I will check Flip4Mac now.
Paula- I downloaded iSwifter a few days back and it didn't allow me to see the nest. It looked like a game app to me so I deleted it. I was probably doing something wrong. Do you open the app then go to the website?
This is all so new to me...
EAGLE TIME
SHEP! GOT RIGHT TO WORK MOVING A STICK.
I heard the landing and wasn't actually watchng
What did Shep bring in (turtle)
I would guess that's the sequence Linda. I don't know much about ipads and their apps.
Anyone here use a MAC? Do you have sound? I asked this a couple of weeks ago, but no one answered. Just asking again for a friend.
2!!
Second Landing Ms Belle
I was checking FB and saw an eagle leave but who was it?
Hate to say it but that sure looked like Belle and no Shep that just flew
out - Spot was on the head but the
tail feathers were quite long....
I'm doing what I said I wouldn't do until we saw HP........... lol
2 again!
Eagle returned and is digging into the egg well
THE OUT AND BACK IN MAKES ME THINK IT WAS SHEP WHO LEFT.
EAGLES IN THE NEST
watching
Jo what did you say you wouldn't do until HP?
bELLE IN THE BOWL, SHEP AT 12
To my eyes - Belle is at 2
and Shep is at 12.......
Sandi, Jo said she wouldn't try to ID and eagle...if she saw HP, then she could be sure!
Belle off to the right
Poof Belle
Poof Shep
And Shep folloows
Both poofed!
Linda, don't think Ipad will ever do flash, from what I was reading.
It would be more encouraging to see hp! And, a little less beaking.
Judy, when you get back from your trip to the park and read, you'll see that you missed a short visit, but being outside w/ Jordyn being a good Grandma is FAR more important!
Their 'beaking' isn't always a sign of
affection... Sometimes I think it is their way of saying 'don't do that'
It is just that their beaking looks too
aggressive at times
Time for dinner - did chicken on the grill.
Oh yes, Sandi, they do practice. It also creates a "bonding" between the pair.
Thanks for the good eagle visit reporting gals !
Great Linda!
Catch ya later, gotta hit the PO and the eye Dr again to check the contacts.
Thanks, KAY!! Having been there so recently, I could certainly sympathize with what they were going through.
Decided it was time to change my avatar.
Awesome, Lolly!!
LOLLY, nice avatar ! I like it better than my party hat, but am too lazy to change it.
Now to see what I've missed!
One and a half hours, SHARON...hang in there♥
My son also loves music and plays guitar with the worship band at church from time to time.
They all mature at different ages!

12/28/2011 :: News From the Nest Ledge
A new male peregrine has been visiting the nest ledge since the first week in November. This bird is not banded and appears to be somewhat larger and younger than the resident male. The resident male peregrine was last seen in conflict with the new male on November 30th. The new male has since made food offerings to the female and they appear to be pair-bonding. It is likely that the new male was successful in his challenge for the nest site and resident female. The resident male may have been driven away or possibly killed. Any information falcon cam viewers provide regarding falcon sightings and interactions would be of great value in determining what we can expect for the 2012 nesting season.
Identical to our Nest story :(
There is nothing like a mother's love, huh Sharon??
Hoping the next hour and 22 minutes pass quickly for you.......

You need to cut & Paste.
This cam is one we usually keep up with and watch.
Feeding the babies gets a little Funky McNasty on that falcon cam but they are such beautiful birds!
BBL
Sharon - with the profession he wishes to pursue - make that appointment for him.
Jo, which ledge is that??
Great news, Sharon, that it's not a tear!!!!!!! Now for a hefty cortisone injection!!!
Oh, I see---it's the Carson bldg. :(
I thought so LYNN!!!
Now seriously, do my eagle budlets have a clue how much I love you all???
Oh, for sure, SHARON...there is soo much love on here, it is ready to explode this blog!;)
Sharon, love you too, now quit blogging, finish your work and get over to see your kiddo!!!!! Join the fun!
Lynn - The Rachel Carson Building in PA
But read this account from their blog..
from Falcon blog
Sharon, we LOVE you, too!!!
Hoda.....late lunch, huh? When will you eat dinner??
Sandi, those pannekuchens sound delicious!!!
Some bittersweet memories there, Jo, for sure.
Put in your favorites-Blackwater Refuge
Blackwater usually has their 1st egg before ours. We call them
Lady and Lord Blackwater!
They are going to stay with me tonight! YAY!
This is the actual link for their cam...

Hoda, yes, I did get the generic! Actually, here in the US, unless dr. specifies otherwise, all Rx's must be filled with generics if available.
These are the books I got from the library today:
Margaret Atwood, The Robber Bride...she is an excellent Canadian author
Edeet Ravel... Held, never heard of her but it looks like an interesting format for the book MTBR
Danzy Senna, Caucasia...My American Sister Carol gave it very good reviews.
Elizabeth Winthrop...December, the book looked inviting, presentable and I know nothing about it.
I have till the 19th of January to finish them and am looking forward to some good reading.
SANDI I have not seen any of the Dragon Tatoo movies but heard the books were great...sorry I can not help you there...
Wow Hoda, you are quite the reader. I would love to have the time to read. Maybe in another 10 years!!
I do wish Dennis would turn off the tv sometimes so we could have some quiet reading time. It is difficult for me to read while the tv is on.
I can blog though ☺
Sharon, you are oh so special!! ♥
Dennis made calzone tonight!! MMmmm
BBL
Well, not a light weight in the literal sense (unfortunately), but can't take those pills!!! LOL
Good evening folks....been a busy day. Was in the 50's...warm enough and sunny enough to drop the top on the car, but wasn't in my car today. :( oh well there's alwasy tomorrow...everyone seems to have been chatting up a storm today.... :)

Lowreeda, I'm glad you had such a good time with Sherry, and I know you were sorry to see them head home!
Janet, I see you like the Shawshank Redemption as well :) About time to watch it again!
Judie Judie Judie ... so nice to have you back!
Thanks for all the nest reports everyone...
paula: yes that is one of my favorite movies. i also like oh brother where art thou? not a lot of people get it...but we have watched it many times....i'm not into the violent movies nor really graphic ones. so, as you can imagine i don't watch a lot of movies.

We have to get up pretty early to go,to the airport, so I think I will say my good nights to you dear friends.....
May you all have restful sleep tonight.........and no upsetting dreams.......Only sweet ones.....
Keeping all those in need in prayer tonight and always.
Enjoyed my time with you today.
Thanks for the gift of friendship and love here!
Night xoxo
Hello everybody. Andrew and Kelsey are in the bed and me and Mattie are heading that way. I love him being in this house! :-)
Please say a prayer for T-Bird. She fell on Christmas Eve when we were leaving the cemetery and is still having a hard time with her back.
Good night, Linda.
Kelsey is thrilled with my DVR because I have lots of chic flicks recorded on it. I think Andrew is about to die! LOL!
Hello....I didn't get lost. I had a wonderful visit from our Margy on her way home from Berkeley Springs!!! SO glad to see her, and to show off my Christmas house in the dark!!!
Prayers for Thelma, Sharon.
Gotta love that Margy! She is quite the peach.
Poor Thelma! Sure hope she is okay, Shar. Make her go to the dr. if not better fast!!
It IS nice when the chicks are home to roost, isn't it??
Enjoy your special time.
Linda, sleep hard before your early rising! Safe trip to the airport and safe flight for your son!
Yawning here. Time to head upstairs. I will see you tomorrow. Good night.
Good night, Shirley!! Any special plans for tomorrow?
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Need to do some errands and pay some bills, Lynn. Nothing in particular.
Liesl is ready for bedtime routine. BBIALW.

Goodnight, dear Judie!!! Silly sandperson! Sure doesn't like sharing you with us! Lunch will be interesting, I'm sure!!
Hoda, so sad about the avalanches....were the victims skiing or just innocent bystanders in the wrong place at the wrong time?
JudyE, I think Lori would be the one to ask about the camera!
It is nice to see Judie on here, but she is always having trouble with that sandperson! Geeesh, wish he would let her chat!
I don't THINK that SnipIt and SnagIt are the same, but I could be wrong. Paula probably knows.
Good evening. Just checking in.
Prayers for all. God bless.
Lily/Faith report
Love and hugs to all.
Jerusalem Hymn
And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountain green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?
And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among those dark satanic mills?
Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!
I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land.
☺ and hope YOU feel better soon also !
xoxo Hello Late Evening Eagle Pals
I think I am going to head to the shower. Time to get in the pjs and get comfy! Should have done it a couple hours ago.
I will be back to say good night!
Well I have caught up on comments. Trying to do a Wanda face plant here. So I am siging off and heading to bed.
Prayers for all that need them.
JUDYE I am glad your coworker is back safe and sound from Afghanistan. What a great gift you used to send her...books are a treasure...to be able to read a true blessing.
Hoda, beautiful verses...
I'm short on knowledge base for comprehending it all, but....it's never too late to learn!
Not too late, perhaps, if it has not been done already, to remind:
RED FRIDAY...last one for this calendar year....Find your Best Reds, as a tribute to our Military....they safeguard our freedoms every moment of EVERY day
Saw one lone Tundra Swan on a pond near James's house....afraid he or she might have gotten separated from its migrating pals.....
hope it can get re-united with another flock....
could only view from along the road, NOT a good place to get a picture....
enough jibber jabber from me, I'd like to get caught up on posts...
Good Night in Advance, and to those already on the pillows or nestled into the recliners...
God Bless Us, Every One
xoxo ♥
I got caught up at 10 with a Hallmark movie.. It just now finished and it was
lovely - I believe in Christmas Miracles
I'll catch up tomorrow.......
Good night friends
Prayers for many in need
Hugs to all ♥♥♥♥♥♥
MARGY are you talking about Blake's Jerusalem? In England many believe that Jesus walked on English soil and many think that a new Jerusalem was intended there...this is the first verse. The second talks of the passion of building this new Jerusalem as per Jesus' wish...The metaphor is strong for the dream of Jerusalem in our lives.
I apologise if I am out of line and this is not what you were wondering about.
GREAT that you visited LYNN tonight. Good on you.
Good night and God Bless everyone.
See you all in the morning God Willing.
Heading to bed now.
Night all! Sweet dreams!
Good morning, KAY!!!
I have a few things to finish up, so I won't leave you alone long, I promise! :)
No problem, LORI ! I'm ducking in and out since it's way too early for Belle n' Shep to grace us with a visit. {{{{{{{gLORI}}}}}}
DANAMO, yesterday someone mentioned your parents and the sale of a business ?? I never did find the reference, what's up ?
LORI, did you settle on a name for that little orange kitten ? Will he have to be free of all those pests before he gets acquainted with FloBear, Dalai and his stepkittens ?
Kay, no name for the boy kitten, yet. His fleas should be dead by now and the vet called yesterday to say all his tests came out negative...now he just has to get rid of that respiratory infection to clear the quarantine...7 more days.
Thanks for the reminder about kitty boy...I need to get his "before" pictures up! No time yesterday.
Good morning! How is everyone this morning? Looks like I am going into school sometime this morning to get some things done! Can't believe we are going back on Monday.
Kay I sent you an email.
Kay my email to you came back to me. Did your email change? This has happened before.
Good Morning, DanaMO ! Thanks, just checked e-mail, Yahoo running slow & it isn't in yet. Will keep checking.
Back to school Monday,eh ? I'll bet your little tykes have parents who are good n' ready for that day to come ! ☺ When does Aric return to Dayton U ?
Nope, no change in e-mail. I'll go there and shoot one off to you, then you can compare addresses, etc..
Hmm,hmm, hmm. The Eagles and "One of These Nights" ! A personal fav, Lori !
Yep I like that song by the Eagles too...Kay ☼
Good Morning Eagle Pals also...got a few things to do while listening to the tunes....
Oh I have LOTS of New Year's Resolutions ☺
Can't wait the hear the List of Words to be Chucked !
xoxo Back in a bit ♥
Oh Kay, you are so youthful! One of the things we all adore about you...one of many things I should say!
"amazing" I would keep !
that's a good word for this blog !!
Ref the words to be chucked
(listening to the radio....)
so, Margy, what are those New Year's Resolutions? Good topic for today. I know what mine should be but can't say I've committed to them yet...may not. Can you say committmentphobe!?!?!
My resolutions are the same every year and I don't keep them either. Eat healthy, and exercise. Maybe this year I will do better.
That's the wonderful thing about a new year. It's a new opportunity!
Looks like Lori, DMo, Kay, & Margy - good morning!
DanaMo, we can all help & support each other through resolutions - that's probably the only way I'd be able to accomplish any of them!
Good Morning, Sandi! Has Bella made any great strides we should know about?
Good Morning MARGY n' SANDI !
Okay, now off to get the weather!
DANAMO, those short breaks are worth it since it brings Aric home early in May ! If he likes to get a summer job it puts him in town well before other students are vying for them.
G☺☺D M☼RNING ÉÄGLÉ BÜDs Ö ö ☺
WOW Thanks for the explanation L☼RI on the zoom now I know
Hello, JUDY, hope our eagles will show up now that you're here !
