I should go over on the kids facebook to see how many kids were really planning on a snow day today and are not going to get it!

Lori O. said...

LOL! Good Morning DanaMo. No snow here either.

Lori O. said...

When we will get our JudyE back? I hope it's today!

DanaMo said...

Hmm Shirley...my mailman used to take packages for me all the time, like sending back returns from online shopping! But he won't take them anymore, the post office apparently doesn't allow carriers to take packages that weigh more than a certain amount and it's pretty low (I forget what it is). I'm surprised your neighbor is able to do it still. It has something to do with "9/11" increased security. I guess fear of the mail carriers inadvertently bringing something in that is dangerous.

DanaMo said...

I know...she has been gone forever! I miss her too.

JUDYE we MISS YOU!!! Come back!

Do you think she heard me?

DanaMo said...

Happy Birthday, Shirley! I guess it was yesterday and I missed it? HOpe it was a great one!

Lori O. said...

How well do you sing, DanaMo?

I think Judy E heard you, because I heard you here in Fred. :)

Lori O. said...

D-Mo, I guess the big question of the morning, what everyone is wondering, is what are you going to wear today???? I just hope we get a picture!

DanaMo said...

I sing, but not so well, the kindergarteners don't seem to know it though. I had one a couple of years ago who was doing "Silent Night" for her mom in sign language (that's what we do for our play at the end) and her mom was singing along. When the girl finished she looked at her mom and told her she couldn't sing like Mrs. Hilmoe. She said "Mrs. Himoe has a voice like an angel". I can't tell you how that warmed my heart. I was always told I couldn't sing so I just loved that. Couldn't wait to tell my dad! LOL

DanaMo said...

As for what I am wearing...I'm not really feeling it this morning. I don't have any other vests or sweaters that are really over the top. I may need to get more. Plus we have Mass today for the Holy Day.

Lori O. said...

That is so cute about your student saying you had the voice of an angel. I would have cherished that, too, since I've never heard that myself!

Lori O. said...

Well, so far this morning, I have a cat accident from one end, and Dalai barfed from the other...pleasant. Poor babies.

DanaMo said...

Working on creating a Christmas card this morning, excuse my absence. I am here...

DanaMo said...

oh...that's not good, barfing and the "other" yikes.

Lori O. said...

You could say life STINKS here this morning!

Guess we now know who we can give all of our loud Christmas sweaters and vests to!

DanaMo said...

No doubt, Javalin had an accident last night. Guess she didn't want to go out and pee in that storm. Although she basically "wet" the couch. It's not like she stood there and peed. She was on the couch and all of a sudden there was a wet spot.

Lori O. said...

My Dad always said it was a good thing I never had kids because I thought my animals were perfect. Said he couldn't imagine if I had children!

Lori O. said...

Doesn't look like there's any snow on the nest, either.

Sandi said...

Just poppin' in to see if anyone got snow. Lori, you sound like such a snow lover, I'm sorry you were disappointed last night and didn't get to see any flakes! Obviously, none here. Looks like none at the nest either. Have a great day all!

Lori O. said...

Good morning, Sandi!

I just love watching the snow fall; however, I find it stressful when we get more than 4".
And, I really don't like driving in it. It's just wonderful when you get to stay home and look at it.

DanaMo said...

Having trouble finding motivation this morning...not good. I guess all that talk of snow got my hopes up even though I tried not to think about a possible snow day.

Lori O. said...

I know what you mean, DanaMo!

How's your card coming along?

stronghunter said...

EAge

Lori O. said...

EAGLE!

stronghunter said...

Good morning.

stronghunter said...

Yeah, eagle. That is what I meant to say. Thanks, Lori.

Lori O. said...

When they talk about Shep's funny toe, I wonder if it's on HIS left foot, or on the foot that is on the left as we look at the cam? Probably his left, eh?

Lori O. said...

Good morning, Cyclone Shirley!

stronghunter said...

Morning, Lori!

Lori O. said...

EAGLE, DON'T KNOW WHO, JUST SITTING ON RAIL AT 10 AND LOOKING OUT.

stronghunter said...

Lori O. said...

I THINK IT'S BELLE WHO LAST FLEW IN.

stronghunter said...

Not sure, Lori. A little surprised you are up so early, but I guess early rising in in your blood.

Lori O. said...

POOF, SHEP? WHO KNOWS ANYMORE???

stronghunter said...

Poof one.

Lori O. said...

I love being up early, Shirley. I'd feel like I wasted my date if I slept in until 7 or 8. It takes me too long to get moving then.

stronghunter said...

Back over 7.

Lori O. said...

AND TWO EAGLES ARE BACK IN THE NEST NOW.

Lori O. said...

ONE POOFS.

Lori O. said...

POOF, SECOND EAGLE FROM 3.

Lori O. said...

stronghunter said...

Hoda said...

What's with the light jacket and cold weather...is he working on his tough image???

stronghunter said...

He is stubborn.

He did say something about the book bag not fitting as well over the heavy jacket. Maybe we need to adjust the straps. Just thought of that.

He wore a bit heavier one yesterday.

When I suggest a heavy jacket, he goes to the back door and checks the temp and makes up his own mind. You want your children to think for themselves, but sometimes . . .

stronghunter said...

I have seen high school kids standing at the bus stop in tee-shirts and shorts on freezing cold days. I have wondered if they have warm clothes. Probably they do, or, could, if they wanted to. Hunter surely does.

Hoda said...

YOU ARE AN aWESOME GRANDMA SHIRLEY!!!

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING...
We have no snow here in Martinsburg/Shepherdstown. Not even a speck of white, which is good, I guess. I must take GG to a doctor appointment this afternoon and I NEVER drive in snow. So it is all good!
It is 34° right now and sunny. 43° is as good as it's going to get today:(

Hoda said...

The Jr. High kids that I taught for years would not wear socks and or heavier jackets when the weather got cold...It would be almost December when they put on the socks...this in ALBERTA with snow and minus zero temperatures in mid October to early November!!! They told me they got teased if they were the first to bundle up...I shook my head and thought, "frost bite is not cool..."

T-Bird said...

Morning all! Hurray---no snow!!
Wind is howling....do NOT want to walk out to get papers....think I'll cheat and drive out. Since I have to have truck out later anyway, why not? MUCH shorter distance to garage.

Hoda, you were up way too early. Hope you went back to bed after you sipped your tea!

Happy Birthday in the daylight, Shirley!
I, too, am very surprised that carrier takes your neighbors packages that way! P.O. always asks all those questions about safety!!

Costume Lady said...

I was sorry to hear of Linda's Mother passing. To lose a brother and a mother so close together must be so very hard on her heart. With the illness that her mother had, her passing was a blessing. She leaves behind, her personal suffering and that of her family.

We love you, Linda, and will be right here when you are ready to come back to us♥

Hoda said...

Good morning LINDA. Did you get any sleep? When is Dennis coming out to FLorida?

hedgie said...

Good morning, dear Linda. Hope you "heard" us thinking about you and praying for you. Read back through the thread to catch up with our thoughts and written love and prayers. Hope today is a little easier for you.

Hoda said...

LYNN I think I am up for the day now...
Tea is good and just had some yogurt with fruit and granola.

I am glad no snow in your area and that your drive to your appointment will not be in snow.
I see it is very windy at the nest...smart to drive the truck out to get the paper...you are very practical...

Snow is abundant everywhere, I see. As of 10:30pm last night Dennis said we had 10" and it was still coming down! Beautiful!

SHARON - Thank you so very much for putting my FB post on the blog. I got interrupted and was not able to get back online to my dear eagle family here yesterday afternoon.

My heart is so heavy this morning. I know these things hit you in ways you would never imagine, but when it does hit, it sure hurts.

God has a way of erasing the bad and shining the good in your mind. I am so thankful for that because my Mom and I had a difficult relationship through the years. I always knew she loved me, but she put me through so much in the process.

That is behind me now and I only see the love in her eyes. She did love her 6 children so very much.....in her own ways.

One of my younger brothers posted this on his FB this morning:

Your in a better place I've heard a thousand times
And at least a thousand times I've rejoiced for you
But the reason why I'm broken, the reason why I cry
Is how long must I wait to be with you

I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now

Help me Lord cause I don't understand your ways
The reason why I wonder if I'll ever know
But, even if you showed me, the hurt would be the same
Cause I'm still here so far away from home

From Mercy Me's Homesick!

I love you Mom, Thank you for my life!

Beautiful, isn't it?

Family will be coming in tonight and tomorrow as we prepare for our memorial service for Mom.

I'm missing my brother, Billy so strongly, too. It has been a tough time since that last day in July when he suddenly passed and now Mom. They are together, now!

Hoda said...

Good morning Carolyn...It is awesome that there will be a reunion with LYNN and her daughters at the oncologyst tody...they won't know what hit them...intelligent questions, good strength and a wonderful capacity to deal with what comes...keep us posted thinking of you all...

We had a few snow flakes here yesterday afternoon, but thankfully the storm was moving east and we missed out. lol My LRT (little red truck)was in the shop to be winterized just in time.

Wm came through his "operation" just fine. He was sure hungry when he came home as he had spent the night and they didn't want to feed him in the am in case he got carsick. Daisy Rose was sleeping on my bed in the basement when we arrived so there was peace and quiet for a few hours.

Happy birthday today to Shirley.

Lolly said...

I laugh when I see your camel, Hoda. I collect Santa's. Jack built me a special shelf to hold my many "odd" little Santas. On it I have an ornament that is an armadillo with a santa hat! Do not remember who gave it to me!

One of the advantages of a small town is that the paper person puts the paper on the front porch. And he also retrieves the Pittsburgh paper from the driveway on Sunday.--Now, if I could just get him to take out the garbage cans--and bring them in----

Good morning all! No snow here. It snowed for about 12 seconds last night as the storm moved out.

Haven't read back too far, trying to get ready to get to work.

Linda, I saw your post on FB, and my prayers are still with you and your family. I hope the next few days won't bee to difficult, and that you'll be back in your own roost with Dubby very soon.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHIRLEY!! Hope you have a special day today!

Lynn, prayers that you appointment with the oncologist goes very well today!

Lolly, I turned the computer on just about 9am this morning and heard what I believe was a Red Shouldered Hawk, so I went running to the window to look and didn't see anything. I think it was sound from the nest cam!

Talked to MIL last night, lots and lots of snow and wind. HEAVY snow....power was flickering badly and they were prepping for an outage. Steve will call later this afternoon.

I'd love to stay, I miss you guys! Tired in vain to log on from work yesterday but it's a crazy madhouse there!

Have a good day everyone!

hedgie said...

Lynne1, I often wonder if I asked if the carrier WOULD bring the papers up to the porch. My driveway is circular so it wouldn't be that hard or a big deal.
Glad that William made it through fine!!

Lolly, one of Christie and Shannon's cats has been doing the daily vomiting....it took a while before they figured out which one. The med the vet gave them doesn't seem to be helping. Must be an age thing??? Vet couldn't find anything wrong with either of them.

Wishing you all a blessed day and I will check in later if time allows.

Again, I thank God for each one of you and the love you continue to shower upon me. I am truly blessed to have you! ♥

One quick note about our final minutes....

We had asked the doctor to take off that loud oxygen mask because if we had decided to go to "comfort measures," and give her morphine to make her comfortable, why would we have this 100% oxygen mask blowing into her nose and mouth and keeping her from looking so "clinical."

The doctor agreed Tuesday night at 10pm to put her back on the nasal canula as that was her normal. It was so peaceful and quiet to get that darn mask off her face. It seemed as if the morphine was quieting things down in her body and that mask was somewhat counter productive pushing oxygen in her lungs.

Once the mask was off, she looked peaceful and her breathing was not as labored.

Three hours later, her respirations diminished to about 4-5 per minute and it looked to me that she may be close.

I picked her up and held her in my arms. I told her how much I loved her in spite of all we had been through and that I knew she loved me, too. I thanked her for being our Mom and for the doing her very best at the most important job God gave her.

I held her hand and said a prayer to Our Heavenly Father. I told him my Mom was ready, whenever He was ready to take her. I asked Him to take her peacefully into His loving arms...that she believed and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was washed clean by the blood of Jesus. I said I know she is righteous in His eyes because of His amazing grace and gift extended to us and thanked His for His amazing gift of Eternal Life.

I told him I knew He was waiting to take her and that we accepted the fact that it was now her time. I thanked Him for the many blessings in her life, in our life with her, and for the many happy memories that we can keep for all the days of our lives.

After the prayer I opened my eyes, asked Mom if she could see the Angels and her eyes were open looking at me. She took one more breath and the Angels took her.

It was so peaceful, so beautiful and so comforting to know this was just a transition from this life into the next. I know I will see her again in Heaven. How amazing is that?

Just wanted to share that moment with you.

Must get going now. Have a wonderful day, dear friends! xoxo ♥

WISHING SHIRLEY AN ESPECIALLY HAPPY AND WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY!!! LOVE YOU!

I'm kind of off my usual schedule today. Kubby took the day off, because we got an invitation from Children's Hospital Los Angeles to go on a guided tour of their new facilities. Our daughter Heather Nicole was there for a while during her final illness in 1992, and we have made some contributions to the hospital since then, because they took such good care of our Nicke. We are supposed to be there at 4:30 today, but need to go early because traffic might be a problem. Don't worry--will be praying for Lynn and daughters at 3:30 eastern time!

Prayers continue for Linda and family. We're there with you in spirit. Your description of your Mom's last moments is BEAUTIFUL!
