I have a lovely deer outside the window eating corn. There were 4 or 5 and Scooby barked at the them, they flipped those white tails up and gone but then this one came back.

Worked in the yard all day. Really got dirty! Ended up working in the muck. Water just standing in one area of the backyard. The yard slopes down to the house on the left (south) side, not good. Anyway, worked in an other area then moved to the muck!!!! Plan to work in more muck tomorrow. Have already bathed and in my pj's. lol

I spent a couple of hours outside, much of which was spent on a ladder, in the mud, pruning the crepe myrtle tree that is out of control. Got is down to a more cleaned up and reasonable height of about 10 feet. Should be beautiful this summer!

Gosh, today we had a pair of Mockingbirds scolding some of our neighbors, and a Scrub Jay, who I've heard for the last week or so, but finally saw. Still plenty of White-crowned sparrows, house finches, and English sparrows. Then there are the Mourning doves, and oh--the Band-tailed pigeon was here again.
Guess I'd better head for the living room and unwind watching some TiVoed shows. Prayers being said for everyone. The night light is burning brightly, I'm leaving the porch light on for lateniks, and the eye scanner is enabled.

Well, I've missed everyone today. Jim & I took the afternoon at the grocery store and after putting things away just sat to relax a bit then he started supper.
We had snizzle here today too. The temp was up in the 40s but it felt much colder with the wind.
Bob, your pictures are great. I especially like the ones of the blue herons(?) I think #22 & #23. I'm not familiar with them but they are beautiful.
Lynne, sorry to hear about Steve and hope he heals real fast. It's no fun.
I'm up late to night because of my back pain from walking around the story today. I had to take more pain medicine so I can sleep. I hate having to do that but otherwise I'd be up all night. Pain can do a number on you.

Another busy day in Bluefield. Tom's aunt died and the wake was last night. Me and a couple of my sister-in-laws are doing the dinner for them today after the funeral. Got to get done with work ASAP so I can get to the rescue squad building and get it ready for the masses.

Thanks Mits. The lady that died is the grandmother of the young man with Hodgkin's lymphoma, Brandon. His dad, Jim, is Irma' son. Brandon was there last night, bless his heart. He starts the stem cell transplantation process Monday, so he and his mom and sister are flying back to Houston today. That family is sure going through their share of struggles!

We are supposed to get a break in the weather this weekend, sunshine and everything!! Highs in the 50s! We won't know how to act for sure!! I am hoping the weather will be decent next week when we go to Norfolk. We are going to try to get to the Botanical Gardens while we are there. I can't wait to get out of this town for a minute!

A quick good morning. Just had a nice visit with one of my students who brought her Emily Dickinson assignment in. She's a funny kid. Sometimes she can do beautifully. Other times she's a real mess. I think she brought the project in early because she wanted to hear some kind words. (She doesn't always have kind words for her teachers, though.)
Speaking of kind words, thanks for all of yours, and for your prayers for Luna. Kathryn has planned to take tomorrow off so she can take care of Luna. I think she is going to work part of the day today. She has cashed out a week of her vacation time to pay for this surgery. It's expensive.
I didn't mention this before, but Tom at first said (or implied) that maybe they should have Luna put down rather than go to all of this expense. Kathryn said no way, but we both knew Tom was just trying to sound tough. He knew Kathryn would veto any such thing. She said later she found him talking to Luna and crying. He is really a softy at heart. He just wants to sound tough.

New sloth has been born in the rainforest exhibit at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. Sex yet to be determined. Mama Rose gave birth to son Howie in 2008.

Good morning! Another sun shiny day! Yea! Presently 45, got up to 61 yesterday and headed up again.
Neighbors have a big tow truck in their drive way. He had pulled their trailer to the RV place for work. He brought it home last night and got stuck. He pulls it with a van like we do. He did not check the ground where he drove the van. Dummy! Jack tried to help him, but Jack said he did not listen to him at all. He said it was if he had not said anything. Dummy! Jack had a good idea. Oh, well, let him pay big bucks. It is in a very difficult to get to place and blocked by the trailer. Oh well!
Have that new Minn. cam up. Owl is in the nest. Hard to tell what you are seeing at first. lol Looks more like a cat than an owl. Looking at it straight down.

It really is frustrating when you suggest something to a person and they completely ignore what you say. He did not even acknowledge that Jack had even said anything.
Funny too, he had just returned from getting a sway bar for the trailer. Jack had told them before they got the trailer that they would need that. Dummies pulled it on several trips, then decided...oh yeah, that is something we need.
