Good morning. Not reading the paper. hee hee Going to let Jack go get it...I think I hear him stirring. It is 40 here, wind is blowing, having sideways rain, snow this afternoon. Dropping down into the 30 with wind chill much lower. Oh, what a wonderful first day of Spring!
The back yard is a lake and the lower front yard has a river running through it. Always wanted water front property, now I am on an island!!!
I went to Pete's Pond for a bit. I've been glued to the barn owl cam in CA, Molly and Magee have 5 eggs due to hatch. I am beginning to think there will be no owlets. Hope I am wrong.. I've been frustrated with our cam, as everyone else is.

Good Morning Everyone! Great weather day--need to do some stuff outside, but gotta check cams.
Late last night checked EENet & there were deer w/no tails at the wild boar site & TWO eagles in w-t nest singing and dancing. Might put some pics up.
Put on our search for ISS pic.☺
Loretta, both WT's were just there, one was pulling feathers out of the brood area of chest, and 2 little girls and 2 adults were just at one of the boars sites.....looking into the cam....such clear, pictures with sound from over there, wonder how they do it?
Lolly, you're probably gone, but I can't believe your weather! At least it's not as baqd as Finland Ferry site!! Bet those aren't running unless they have ice breakers!
Our secretary who moved back to TX, near Dallas, said she can't believe the varied weather they've had.At least she4 missed our Feb. blizzards.

My hyacinths and jonquils are coming up. Forsythia is about to ready to pop!
Got some broken bushes trimmed back, and some briars cut down. Decks blown off. So much to do---need to find a helper! Quite warm, but nice breeze.
Paula, liked that your daffodils are blooming. My third variety started blooming the last few days. Picked a vase full yesterday before this winter blast we are having today.

Had to go across town for a prescription because doctor made a change and my pharmacy didn't have it. Not a bad trip, actually. Went by my old neighborhood.
Lib and Belle can come over here and grab some of my dried grasses! Finally got them all cut down.

For those not on FB:
Around 11 PM CDT last night, Lily hooked her claws under her radio-collar and deftly slipped it over her head—then proceeded to chew on it! We wanted to retrieve it before she destroyed it completely like other study bears have done. This morning she was too lethargic to come out of her den—she doesn’t seem like a ‘morning bear’ lately. She’s been more active in the afternoon, so we made another attempt then. Even then she was slow to wake up and come out. We think bears reduce the blood supply to their legs when they are resting. Eventually she calmly came out on shaky legs. Lynn felt honored that Lily trusted him enough to come out right next to him in such a shaky condition. It took both grapes and your freshly arrived filberts to coax her out. At first Lynn couldn’t see the collar in the den, and then he realized Hope was neatly curled up in it! Hope didn’t squawk when Lynn gently moved her back with a hoe and hooked the collar to pull it out. At one point, Lily and Lynn were shoulder to shoulder on all fours looking into the den together. What a trusting bear Lily is. The collar is back on—but just as loose as before, which may be a mistake. We’ll see if she keeps it on. We may tighten it a notch when Lily and Hope are closer to emergence.
8:12 for ISS here tonight. 78º in WNW sky. Very bright.

Exhausted tonight. Only 15 more papers to grade but realize it's time to quit teaching. I simply cannot cope with what I know will be the backlash for grades students have earned rather than grades they want.

Snowflake has been in the nest box off and on yesterday and today. There is snow in the nest box but she has scratched a place for herself to settle into. Sure are hoping for another clutch of eggs there.
As much as I hate to leave, I must fold laundry and get ready for bed.

Judie, I understand what you are saying about the grades. That is why I give out grade reports right before the bell rings.
We had grade reports on Friday. One kid got his and he said, "Those zeroes--they are quizzes. I wasn't here on those days. How can I get a zero when I wasn't here?" I had to point out to him--a senior--that he is responsible for making up a missed quiz. I told him that I thought the zeroes might get his attention, and he assured me I'd gotten it. We will see.
I told another kid that I wasn't going to be able to recommend her for honors English next year, and she said, "But how is that going to look on my college application?" Of course, I wonder how a "D" is going to look on her college application. To defend herself, she commented that she took advanced placement history last year. I said, "How did you do?" Answer--"I got a D, but I didn't apply myself." Duh!
I don't think these kids will even make it to your school, Judie.

I've been MIA today--we met Sis-in-law for breakfast this morning, and were running around most of the day.
Did get some Dutch iris ('Miss Saigon' variety) planted, though. Hope they come up quickly!
Watched an old video tape of "Enemy of the State" with Will Smith and Gene Hackman. It's pretty scary to know how closely Big Brother can watch you if they want to! Good movie!
Am pretty tired tonight, so am going to turn my light out and leave the night light on. The porch light is automatic, and so is the eye scanner security. Prayers are being said for all, especially those in need of healing and renewal.
Glad to hear the lost dog is being taken care of--hope the owner comes and gets her, and that they're worth a doggone! If not, glad you're at the top of the list, Lynne!

Well, I am sure everybody is in the bed by now. We are back in Bluefield. It has been a wonderful day. Mattie won 1st place at the Social Studies Fair. Next is state level in Charleston on April 23. Then we went to Huntington for some fellowshipping. Been a really good day and a really long one. Tomorrow, after the Bristol race, I am going to meet Andrew in Wytheville and get me a baby boy hug! YAY!

I saw a news story about monarch butterflies this morning. It seems the harsh winter in Mexico has been hard on them. The second article in this blog has the story. Monarch Watch says plant milkweed this year.

JIM, didin't you tell us you had installed Windows 7? I am having crashes with Adobe Flash and seems there are no real good fixes for Windows 7 on a 64 bit computer...know anything about that?
