BTW---for those who watch Deadliest Catch: Capt. Phil Harris from the Cornelia Marie had a stroke Sunday. Apparently were in port off-loading opilios---is in hospital and doing okay, but don't know extent of damage at this point. Both sons are with him; a friend has taken the boat back out to continue season.
I hope she doesn't turn her back side to us - Won't be able to tell she is even there........

Sorry, had a couple phone calls after dinner & been working on eagle pics. They are so far away, they are blurry, but I might put them on anyway just to show where they were today. One was a big surprise. I couldn't see anything w/no binoculars, but zoomed as far as I could & saw something~~~~brown sticks???

yes, he had to be taken off the boat, like 2 yrs ago and almost died, got better and went back to drinking and smoking again, was boun d to catch up with him, the poor guy, but such a tough stressful job.
Hopefully the snow has stopped and doesn't start up again.

Re: Phil. After the blood clot in his lung last year, he probably was still on anticoags, so may have been a bleed. But he sure didn't take care of himself at all; didn't listen to docs.

Tomorrow and Thurs should be warming temps and hopefully we can get a look at the egg cup and then get the nest some new fluff in readiness for the weekend snow.
I read that NBG eagle spent 2 nights in a row in the nest, then had a 1 night break, then spent last TH night in nest & laid egg on Sunday! I can't remember if Belle does something like that, but I thought they started spending the night before laying.

Can not make out anything on the live cam. Can see her dark body on the still cam....just barely.
Can't see much of anything. I can hear the wind some I guess but the snow doesn't seem to be falling near as heavy as it had been. I am so very glad to see that.

Well, I know I posted some innocuous comments earlier but now they aren't there. Anyway, it's still snowing, schools closed tomorrow, can't see a thing in the nest. Always enjoy reading this blog, loved Judie's synopsis last week and her idea of 'As the nest turns" Goodnight and blessings to Belle.
Did another tray of slides tonight. Have done 8 now. Almost 1/4 through. Sitting here now in front of the fire. Wish my chair was closer...I'm cold!

I got back up and came downstairs. Heard the train a few minutes ago. I don't see how you can even tell she is there.
You have to look at the still cam to tell she is there.

I just got home from school. Got a LOT of transcribing done, so my eyes don't want to focus very well. Golly, is Belle in the nest?! She must feel like Frosty the Snowman, if she is! Do see a bit of a lump at 12:00 on the still cam, though. I think I'm gonna have to send Belle and Lib the nice early Valentine's Day present I got today, along with a VERY LONG extension cord! Hubby got me an electric throw! It's VERY soft and fuzzy, and extremely warm! Just what the eagles need for the nest!
Do you think there's an electric plug in the barn below? Hmmmm....

Belle has been in the nest the majority of the snow storm. Her body heat may have eliminated the snow in the egg cup before and if she did lay the egg.

It's not as cold at night here now, Jo, but this throw is great--only takes a minute or two on 'medium' to get it really nice and warm, and then can turn it down on 'low' to maintain the coziness. Looks like poor Belle could use it right now!
Think Megan has had to clean off GH 3 times, Andy. But snow has stopped now here, so probably so at her place, too.

Yes, I stay home tomorrow. It is nice to know the night before. We get a phone call when they decide. A machine gives the information. My house phone and my cell phone ring at the same time. They call everyone--students, parents, teachers, etc.

It's nice they have an automatic phone dialer to call everyone! When I was living in Utah for a couple of years as a kid, people had to do the calling--but the kids just had to listen to the radio to find out. FYI--did you know that at that time in Salt Lake City, there were only TWO television stations?!

I think I'm gonna hit the dusty trail to dreamland. It was a
l-o-n-g night at school, and my eyes are tired. The night light is reflecting nicely off the snow in the nest, the porch light is automatic, and the eye scanner is, as always, enabled. Prayers said for everyone, especially our eagles, and for Megan, in the hopes she won't have to do gh maintenance again tonight. Sleep well, you guys, and I'll talk to you when it's daylight. Nighty night! Love all of you! :o]
Live cam is totally black beyond the snowy limb....and it freezes every 1012 seconds......sticking to pop-up.

Think I saw feetsies for a moment...and it looks like there may be something reddish in front of her. Saw movement, so maybe she was eating....just too dark to tell.
This is very hard on the eyes. If only the egg cup were a little closer in!
