Isn't our nest just beautiful? I missed it so much!!!!

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

I am bear watching, makes it hard to work, I tell ya!!

Costume Lady said...

Better than nothing...but not what we were promised!:(

Mits said...

we were only told the cam would be replaced today, Wanda, guess the live feed is still coming.

paula eagleholic said...

Thank you Steve and the NCTC crew. The cam looks great!

Did Nu climb the tree?

paula eagleholic said...

A great reason to keep Snoopy dancing on here today!

Mema Jo said...

Well Done, Steve! Please pass on our gratefulness to all the team that made this possible..

Good morning again all.

paula eagleholic said...

Wanda - we weren't promised the live feed today....

We are lucky they didn't have any big issues...cam up and running early!

paula eagleholic said...

NBG eagles just hanging out!

paula eagleholic said...

Hope they stapled the wire all the way up the tree so we don't have any more limb and dangling wire issues!

Mema Jo said...

As I said on the earlier thread
Thank you NCTC/USFWS for getting our cam up/running. You all had a very successful morning - you can take the rest of the day off

paula eagleholic said...

Is NBG eagle laying in the nest?

Mema Jo said...

Now I am going to see if I can see more than Lily's backside.........

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Lovely cam! Now, when do we get the live feed? Steve, you know we are needy people! :)

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

By the way, Lily is on Twitter too! :)

Judie said...

Good morning,

Steve, thank you and all others who have made the nest cam available. We are grateful.

Need to do some school work. Later.

paula eagleholic said...

Wanda - Love the pics of the Kalis krew and JO & ED

Mema Jo said...

I was just reading about Suz run in! So thankful she is ok and that is wasn't the driver's side! She is a real trooper - running him down! No wonder she likes sticking to the back routes.

Hoping also that Andrew somehow contacts his mom for her peace of mind. It is a horrible feeling not knowing that all is well.

hedgie said...

Brought over:

Good morning Eagle dudettes and dudes. SO COOL to have our cam up and running....will take some getitng used to the re-new view.....hope that Jim and Red see that it is no longer crooked! Thanks to Steve, John, Nu and everyone else at NCTC involved!
Glo---wonderful flight vidoe! How neat that the cameras turn to get various aspects of his flight!

Poor Suz----just SO thankful that she wasn't hurt!!
Hey, Andy...didn't expect to see you so early! Guess you are lovin' the rain!
Nice to see the Kalis pic enlarged! Thanks, Mits and Wanda!

Steve Chase said...

Costume Lady-- Be patient. You have NO IDEA how much work has gone into getting the partnership with the Outdoor Channel to run the live feed. Outdoor Channel is the major leagues. It has also taken a huge amount of scrambling to get this cam replaced. If the weather had been warmer this week, we would have had no cam until after the eggs had hatched.

hedgie said...

Sure that Andrew is fine, Jo. Tsunami warnings were cancelled mid-evening.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Thank God for cold weather! I knew there was a reason to be grateful!

Mema Jo said...

Pook is out feeding the moose by her garage. I saw Sidekick and then the top of Pook's head....... The moose are there waiting for their bins to be filled.

hedgie said...

Eagle still at NBG!

Mema Jo said...

Pook is playing pitch with Sidekick.. Looks like the one moose may want to play too.

Costume Lady said...

Well, STEVE, thanks for getting us up to speed on what has been happening. Didn't think we would get LIVE FEED today, but we were looking for it end of December.
We are ever so GREATFUL for anything that shows us Lib & Belle, but LIVE FEED Is wonderful. What can WE do to help move the process along? Would be glad to do anything!

Costume Lady said...

Another message from SUZ:

Thanks, Wanda. My nerves are still jangled! Was a bit nervous driving in this morning. Bless her heart, tell Norma I miss her too! And I will give Gypsy extra pets for her, and all Gypsy's housemates!

Thanks for the pics when they come. Wish I could go, but do need to get my car in order. Hate driving it when it looks like it does. Right front panel and passenger door are really messed up, and of course I don't have a mirror on the right. I always use my mirrors and it was terrible changing lanes this morning!

You guys have a blast, and I hope you see a LOT of eagles!!!

Mema Jo said...

Thanks Hedgie - makes me feel better.
I really didn't realize that Andrew was getting on a cruise ship - I thought he was just going to FL. I slipped through a hole with that info.

Wanda sent you a pic of Pook - IF you can post it I would be pleased to have all see her.

Mema Jo said...

I hope that Lib & Belle decide to have lunch in the nest today! So anxious to see them from this view. They sure can't hide from us.

Lolly said...

Good morning! Wow!!!! An eagles nest, Belle and Libs nest, our nest!!!

Thank you, Steve and crew. We are so excited.....have almost converted to bearmomsters! Have to confess....I go to Lily first thing. Anyone see anything this morning? Any stirring around?

What happened to Suz?? Need to go back and read the old blog, I guess. I just hurried on over here, surprised we have the cam up so early. ha! Early for me that is!

magpie said...

Wonderful to see the Still Cam up and running again, I throw in my Thanks with all of yours, to Steve and all at NCTC for Accomplishing that Mission!

Now, for some Eagle Sightings !
Ah, 2006, Paula said this is the same view as that year's - that's when I started watching....

Good Morning again Everyone.

magpie said...

Thank Goodness Suzanne was not hurt, and glad that she helped the police find the bad guy.

Sure sorry she cannot join us on Saturday, but understand the reasons why not

Mema Jo said...

I think you are to let sleeping bears lie!

magpie said...

And hoping that Sharon hears from her Andrew soon, that will make the day !

Ms Bookworm said...

Whoa, Hi, Gang!
Got lost on the other side! Let me bring this over:

Ms Bookworm said...
Hi, I'm back!
Glo, thanks for the 'Fly with an Eagle' link! Wow, what a rush! So good to see Scotland, too.
Had some breakfast and coffee, and feeling much more awake.
Love the picture of Jo and Ed!
Whew, glad to hear that Suzanne and Ceil are OK! Glad they caught the culprit, Suzanne--hope you can get your poor car fixed soon!
Have been watching coverage of the earthquake damage in Haiti. Lots of prayers for that situation! Sharon, have you heard from Andrew yet? Guess the phone lines are really tied up with folks trying to reach loved ones. News here said there are fire/rescue teams from SoCal gearing up to go there and help out. From the looks of things, it's going to take a while to clean things up there--God bless them!

OK so we need a checkin from Andres, Lib and Belle. Then we can focus our mama instincts on Lily.

Mema Jo said...

Did anyone save that email that was sent around about In my next life I want to be a bear? Sissy check out your archives - you may have sent it....

Mema Jo said...

It may take Lib & Belle a while to come into the nest IF they saw the crew this morning....... We must be patient and just keep calling them!

Come on Lib
Come on Belle

magpie said...

Thanks for the Golden Eagle Clip, Glo, it is fantastic !

And thanks to all for the Norfolk Cam updates and links.

Gotta scram, see you all later.

Best Wishes for a good day....

Mits said...

I have gotten that email sooo many times, but never saved it, cute one..yep, gonna be a bear.

Ms Bookworm said...

Here's more from the other side:

Good Morning, Lynn!
Hope today finds you feeling better!
YES! I LOVE the rain! It's absolutely my FAVORITE kind of weather! Everyone who knows me says I should live in Seattle! Can't argue with that--it's BEAUTIFUL (and rainy) there!

Boy, it sure is good to see our nest again! Thanks, NCTC! Ever so much appreciated! All your hard work has not gone unnoticed!

Costume Lady said...

If you will look on WILD AND WONDERFUL BLOG, you will see a photo of Pook and Friend that JO captured:) Is Pook a Guy or a Gal?

Mits said...

today's weather for nest....

Today
Partly sunny. Highs in the upper 30s. West winds 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight
Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 20s. West winds around 5 mph.

Mits said...

Pook is a gal.

Mits said...

I think:)

Mema Jo said...

Pook is a lady that loves the Moose and Elk and takes care of them in the winter by feeding them. She also feeds them apples that are given to her. Day old apples I guess.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

I don't have it Mema Jo. I remember it, and it described me perfectly (cause I wanna be a panda!!!!) but I didn't save it either.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

In my next life I wanna be a female bear.
If you're a bear, you get to hibernate. You do nothing but sleep for six months. I could deal with that.
Before you hibernate you're supposed to eat yourself stupid. I could do that.
If you're a bear, you birth your children (who are the size of walnuts) while you're sleeping and wake to partially grown, cut cuddly cubs. I could definitely deal with that.
If you're a mama bear, everyone knows you mean business. You swat anyone who bothers your cubs. If your cubs get out of line, you swat them, too. I could deal with that.
If you're a bear, your mate "expects" you to wake up growling. He "expects" that you will have hairy legs and excess body fat. Yup! I wanna be a bear.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Is that it?

Mits said...

Wanda, great pic of Pook:).....also great picture of the Finny nest, not to be confused with the Finland nest;)

Mema Jo said...

Sure is Sissy
Thank you for finding it
It means alot more now that we're
watching Lily

Mema Jo said...

We should publish that over on the chat for Lily!

Costume Lady said...

Love that WANNA BE A BEAR story. LMBO!

Mema Jo said...

Time for me to take a break and get some street clothes on And some socks cause my feet are cold

Watch the nest - they may be enroute now with their lunch!

BBL
(I am really going to keep the nest site up just in case)

Lolly said...

LOL Yep, I wanna be a momma bear, too! I could still be in bed.

Went back and read the blog. Poor Suz!! That was scary! Can not believe she chased him for 50 miles. That was determination. Proud of her.

Glo, loved the video of flying with an eagle. That is awesome.

I enjoyed too the comments on the new cam postition. I was wondering about that. Anxious to see Lib or Belle to get an idea of exactly what we will be seeing.

Going to run errands today. Thought we were going to work in the year, but Jack has done his back in. No yard work today. Also, I want to get back to the slides. Can do that and monitor a den and a nest. Happy Day!

Costume Lady said...

Looks to me like the cam is up a little higher than it was. Guess we can tell more when we get a visit from our Royal Couple. I would imagine they have been coming more regularly now with their egg laying time so near.
Have to go to GG's today and will probably miss a visit...know some of you will get plenty of pics:)

Lolly said...

Jack just pointed out that to be a bear, I would have to get fat on grubs and inedible berries. That part does not sound so good.

Going to eat a bite of breakfast and it is not grubs!

Cool, thanks NCTC and Nu ! too much to absorb... NBG is up too? gotta find that.
Looks like Lily is sleeping away. I don't get ads on the bear.org site, my computer didn't like the Wildearth site so much.
Oh, and while I am very grateful for the still cam, I would love to hear ANY update on the live feed:)

Steve and all who helped I am so very grateful to see this nest online again. I love the position back where we can see all sides of the nest too.

Could you run outside and call Lib and Belle for us and let them know its OK and we are all waiting for them to get back to their nest and show us how pretty they look with everything including the cam back in place. Thanks a lot.

floralgirl said...

Aha, I just read all the comments, and got the live feed info I was looking for. Thanks:)

Mema Jo said...

GrannyBLT Is that your back door?

Ditto Glo!

Lynne2 said...

Hey all!

So good to have the camera back up...THANKS NCTC CREW!!! Nice to see NBG back up too! I actually thought it would be the live feed but hopefully that won't be too far off.

No, Steve, we don't have any idea how much is involved with getting the partnership with The Outdoor Channel and the live feed. I think I speak for all of use when I say that we are simply anxious to see our beloved eagles in real time as egg laying time quickly approaches and it's difficult to be patient, especially when we really have no idea what has to happen behind the scenes in order for you all to get this to us. We appreciate this site so much and all the work that goes into making it all possible, even if we don't know exactly how much is involved. Not only do we have the BEST eagle cam, but the friendships that have evolved here are priceless. Thanks so much for all that you do!!!

hedgie said...

Great pic, Grannyblt!! Is that at your house?? Cool! Once upon a time, a local doc had rescued an orphan and his St. Bernard nursed her. She wore a ribbon around her neck and roamed his farm freely---and would come through the orchard to my in-laws (and try to get in the kitchen door!) and would sometimes come in our yard and let the kids play with her and hug her. Brings back lots of memories.....but never got any pics! Regrettable, for sure.
Okay....going to post office now. BBL!

Did my excercise...kept Lily in view. She did all her moving around at that time. Think she kissed the cam. I love Lily, too. I have always been fascinated with bears. On our honeymoon in New Mexico, I learned I could see bears at the dump at night. Could not talk Jack into going to the dump. However, a bear did cross the road in front of us one evening going to dinner. I freaked out, I was so excited. Then when in Yellowstone years ago, had a bear visit our campsite. Have to find that slide and share! That was exciting!!

Ms Bookworm said...

I'll try to post here. Hi all in Eagleland and bear watchers ( :

I have our BEAUTIFUL nest up; thank you so much Steve and everyone involved at NCTC and NU.

NBG cam is good but I thought that they would have sound this year.

Eyes are terrible bad for typing and seeing double. So I will watch some and be off some. Don't want to over do this.

I wish since so many are sick or in position as Suz. That we could wait another week and go to Con. Dam. Don't know if Margy would have off that Saturday though.

Boy are they ever messed up on that FB for "Lily". I thought when she has them they are the size of walnuts anyhow.

floralgirl said...

This was posted at 5:50 pm today on FB-
It’s likely Lily will have cubs in the next few days. Births are typically in mid to late January. 10 (71%) of 14 females like Lily had cubs at age 3 in this study. Lily is heavy for her age, so her odds are even better.
When I visited her at her den on January 11, her genitals were swollen like I’ve never seen in 43 years of research—but I had never visited a bear about to give birth before. Technology is letting all of us learn together. The way Lily is rearranging her bedding has me on edge. I think it’s getting close.
Lily’s den cam is one of the best opportunities of my career to show people how real bears behave. People are falling in love with her. Thank you for so many requests for t-shirts. The North American Bear Center will have them available online in a week. We are grateful for your desire to help the Bear Center pay off its $700,000 debt so we can do more to help bears.

— Lynn Rogers, Ph.D.

ceil said...

Megan thanks for the lily update. I was thinking that the way she acted this afternoon that she was getting the den ready.

floralgirl said...

Sure:) I'm sure some people may have already seen it, but it was getting lost in all the insanity on the FB site, so I thought I'd share it just in case.

wvgal_dana said...

Don't know where I got size of walnut. lol

This is off the other cam site for Lily: The cubs are generally born in January or February. They are very small, about 10-14 ounces, and are blind, nearly hairless, and helpless when born.

Mema Jo said...

Thanks for posting Dr Lynn Rogers comments Megan

Lynne2 said...

Thank you for posting CORRECT information Megan! Good grief those people on the chat and on Facebook at Lily's site....uh, misinformed.

Lynne2 said...

I wonder how much noise wild baby bears make....seems to me that making noise would attract unwanted attention to the den. Although, I guess there aren't many critters that would cross Mama Bear!

Lynne2 said...

I hope by tomorrow morning our beautiful eagles will be back at the nest after today's excitment!

wow of over 13000 fans, Sharon, Paula and Lolly have pictures showing if you scroll down the Lily page, under the chat! And I think yesterday there were only 6000 or so fans!

Lolly said...

Jack and I went to Fort Worth today. Went to Central Market to get good stuff. lol What we have been doing is preparing two meals that we love and going to have them ready for cooking and then freeze them. This is our birthday present to Michael. One is rolled flank steak. And, the other is is rolled veal, both take a lot of preparation, especially the rolled flank steak. I think he will like this present. His birthday is Monday.

So, no visit today. I have been lurking and checking! Also, have had Lily up checking on her.

Alexis has gone for the evening. She never wants to leave and you almost have to push her out the door which upsets me - but she always looks back and hollers I Love You!

Sitting here crying. I cry so easily!!!! The mother of a former student just posted on fb that today is Matthew's birthday. He died several years ago in a car accident. He was one of my favorite little boys. (I know, you are not supposed to have favorites!) He was a comedian at the age of 5. He could do a Steve Erkle imitation that would have me rolling!! He was the sweetest little guy and only lived to 18. Happy Birthday Matthew!

Good ol' Mister Rogers, Sissy. How did you remember that quote?!
Lynne, deer moves his head fine for me---and I didn't have wine, Ceil!!

Lolly said...

His head is moving for me...before and after a glass of wine.

I didn't remember that quote! My niece posted it on FB and I stole it! It is just so good. I am going to use it on Mattie! So much negativity, that is the best way to focus on the positive!

Hello everyone,

Condolences to Crunch Bob and his family. Prayers for you and family.

Lily is sleeping; four deets at PA. NBG is a blank screen for me, even with the link posted this afternoon.

Been a busy and tiring day. I'll be back to turn the night light on later.

This is a link to an article about Crunch's granddaughter . Farewell Dear Friend

hedgie said...

Hey, Jo...did you see Dr. Reed speed-reading? I remember my daddy doing that!

Good evening.

Sorry to hear of your loss, Crunch.

Thanks to Steve and the NCTC staff for setting up the new camera.

Suz, I am so impressed. I couldn't have chased an 18-wheeler for 50 miles. Wow!

Came home this evening to find Will taking down the Christmas decorations. He had the day off, and I am very tired, so I do appreciate it. I was thinking that I would put it off until Monday.

Kathryn and Hunter will join me on the trip to Conowingo, so we will plan to meet you there. Maybe you can e-mail me some cell phone numbers. I'll send you mine, though I know that Lynn had it in October.

Left a message for Rus and Rebecca. I haven not heard from they yet.

stronghunter said...

. . . that's I haven't heard from them yet.

Thank you Megan
for that link, and to Lynn earlier for posting the sad news about Kerri, Crunch Bob and Doris's granddaughter.

Sad over this, and offering prayers for comfort and strength for all the family in the days to come.

My brother was in her Mother's class at Saint Joseph's School, I was in class with an uncle, their family is loving and caring

Beautiful tribute, Paula. Thanks for posting.
I left FB message for Crunch, and sent a BlueMountain Card and posted at the funeral home site.
Bob, if you are checking here, know that we are thinking of Doris and you and all the family at this difficult time.

Oh, Hunter will make the trip with you and Kathryn, Shirley, how great is that to hear! ☺

Jo
That was a great link to the Eagle pics from Ft. St. Vrain...thank you!

Has anyone hear from Sharon regarding Andrew?

Sissy
That was a great quote from Mr. Rogers. I have a book The World According to Mr. Rogers, Important Things to Remember
wouldn't surprise me if that quote came from there, as it is filled with many things like that.

Speaking of Sharon, there goes a TRAIN rolling through the nearby train crossing

You all were so nice to Hunter in October. He had fun on that trip.

I am just back from a meeting and no, I haven't heard a word from Andrew. I am praying that no news is good news but I would be so grateful to hear his voice!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

And then Sharon shows up! How funny is that!

magpie said...

Okay, Sharon, we are with you...
I know you will post when you hear something
