The mysterious visitor to Edgar Allan Poe's grave has failed to show up for a birthday tribute to the legendary American writer.
For decades an unidentified person has left three roses and a half-bottle of cognac at Poe's grave at a church in downtown Baltimore.
Tuesday is the 201st anniversary of the writer's birth and some three dozen Poe fans waited all night with the curator of the Poe House and Museum for the visitor to arrive. Some traveled from as far as Illinois and Texas for the annual ritual.
At 5:30 a.m., curator Jeff Jerome emerged to announce that the mysterious visitor, who had always appeared between midnight and 5:30 a.m., never showed. He had no explanation why.
Good sunny morning all...on the way to the low 50s again today...but then the spring tease is over.
I have, in addition to my usual sparrows, juncos, dove, finches, titmouse, chickadees, downy woodpeckers and jays, a flock of starlings this morning! I know most don't like them, they don't belong here, they are invasive, etc., but they are cool in their own way. The iridescence of their feathers is really showing up in the sunshine! Did you know they can be taught to talk? And I had a lone red-winged blackbird one day recently...never see them this time of year at the feeder, and never just one. Usually get mobs of them for several days in the early spring at the feeders. But this one was all alone.
Hi Lynne... just got another virus alert so I have to scram... Belle has been surveying the countryside for quite some time now. I added pictures to album was going to review and edit but can't do that til later. I have blue jays, mockingbird, titmouse, cardinals, and starlings here this morning. Margy, sometimes spyware gets on your computer, gives you a virus alert just so you will buy their program. Do you have Adaware or some kind of spyware scan on your computer?
How is Lily this morning. Seems also that I kept dreaming about 'bears' throughout the night. But they were mean bears - running after me! lol I outran them - clear down to the beach house attic!
oh Margy I hope you didn't get that virus that almost got me....I got a pop up tab supposedly from Window that said there was a problem and click to fix, but when I did, something didn't seem right. I have a contract with Geek Squad and sure enough it was a virus, but since I caught it and didn't download anything, they were able to remove it for me.
That is sure something about Poe's visitor not showing this year. It's like the end of an era....we'll probably never know who it was.

Oh real quick: guy at grocery check out had a half gallon of half and half. said he drinks 12 pots of coffee a day and goes through that half and half in 3 days.

I can not get anything done. Lily was so active this morning and Lib and Belle have been there so much of the morning. They are not there now and Lily is asleep. So guess I better do my walking.
My Wild Earth TV link isn't getting up what I used to have. It gave me links to the different eagle's nests - Like Sidney and those. Now it saying it can't be found. Recently it also has Lily's link on it. Right now I want the eagles' nests. Anyone still have it and is it working for you?

I'm back.........I think I'm done!! Will play it through as a slideshow to doublecheck and then burn the DVD's and get in mail tomorrow to mom! A loving tribute to my Mom and Dad and Grandparents, even tho' Mom is the only one left to enjoy it. Good legacy for my girls, too, I guess.
