It's been quite a morning here in Emmitsburg! Couldn't get my sump pump to stay on, it's on a GFI that kept tripping because the outside outlet is wet! So I finally trudged out to the shed to get the extension cord and hook it up elsewhere in the house.
I heard the fire sirens going off, but didn't think too much of it until I got into the car and attempted to leave my development. The creek is over its banks and the road is flooded! There was a water rescue in progress...yes someone attempted to drive through it. Forunately, they were rescued and no one was hurt.

Good morning all. So sorry you are having problems, Megan...boo for sure. Maybe your pigeon visitor got BLOWN in from downtown Hagersbush! Paula, hope the rescue was successful-----people can sure be stupid. What it is they say...6 inches of water can float a vehicle? We had really heavy rain through the night, but no serious winds. When I first woke up around 6, temp was up to 55---think that's what woke me up---I was hot! Sun is trying to come out. I have a leak on a bottom window panel of sunroom. Will have to caulk it when it dries out.
Bob, loved your photos, as always! Glo, how much snow are thet prediciting for you? Mom said the same thing aobut not seeing sun for so long in St. Louis area! Ceil, hope your pump did okay, and glad you got yours back up and running, Paula. That's one thing I've never had to deal with, thank goodness.
Hedgie Just an inch or 2 of snow here. Its pretty falling right now although sunshine would be much prettier these days. I enjoy snow but I nEED some sun.

Paula Glad your laptop is here. Can you swim? OK not funny. Maybe you can get them to deliver it to your house with their boat. How long does it usually take your water to go down once rain has stopped. We have a huge portion of local interstate 280 closed due to ice jam causing Rock River to overflow yesterday. Huge chunks of ice all over the interstate.

Bob, that cat is probably the same one that sent me to the hospital to get 150 stitches closing giant gaping wounds acquired while trying to give it a bath. It looks innocent though, doesn't it?

Loved the cat link. I had not seen it before. I loved it! Annie comes to the bathroom when I am in there and wants running water for a drink. She would run like the dickens if I turned on more than a dribble.

ALSO - on the left you can click for the Eagle cam and have the live feed when they are in the nest or do the same as the owl cam and click on a specific time of day to see the nest-there is an overhead view and a side view. You can double click on the pic to be sure you are seeing the correct day. This cam, I think, is 2 hrs behind us.

Hi all! I just figured out the live cam was back! The picture and sound quality are very good but is the angle different or is that me?? Seems like the camera is more directly overhead now. Also, I think I just heard Lib or Belle calling. Yesterday there was a program on Bald Eagles on PBS and it reminded me again how I enjoyed watching little Hidey grow up. I wonder if any of the local eagle moms (and dads) have seen Hidey or know how she is faring? I like to imagine that she is doing well. well, nice to see so many familiar names, I will be in touch more often now that we're back to nesting season!
OMG this tax thing is a nightmare....I thought my collecting unemployment would be the big problem this year but it actually accounts for very little owed as I had taxes taken out when I WAS working. But Steve's is worse...because he has a MARRIED status now, they aren't taking much out each week, and WHEW, what a mess we have now. I wish we had realized the diffference sooner.....I think I want to throw up a pellet.....

Yup, got it from Best Buy, got an HP email last night, so I checked them out first...then checked out best buy...they had the same laptop w/ a different model number...and more disk space! Cheaper! and i could pick it up today. This puppy has 500 gigs of disk...my old computer only had 40. Also got a wireless mouse and new printer...none of that is hooked up yet...bbl gotta do my antivirus...
Paula, I got my laptop from Best Buy about 18 months ago, a Compaq Presario. I love it! I got the Trend Micro Antivirus that they recommended and have never had a problem. I also got a 2 year covers everything, even if the cat pees on it warranty, and I got 2 years of free Geek Squad support. I am glad I spent the money. It has beautiful display, and now with our wireless Fios I can use it anywhere which I REALLY love....couldn't go back to a regular computer after being so spoiled! I was clueless about the "fn" key that you have to use to get some of the keyboard functions but my own fault for not reading the guide book!
kooky thing, I have 55.8 GB - that should be a lot...I have used half the disk space...think I just need to study some things ..

I lost my hotmail account by answering what I thought was a legitimate Chase Bank email concerning my security. Would you believe I just got another bogus email - this time from Wachovia Bank with the same pretense of checking out my security. I deal with Chase but not Wachovia.
Best thing to do when you are in doubt is to highlight that incoming message's email address and copy it - Do Ctrl T and open another tab - copy that email address in the url line and if bogus it will come up with Bad Request Just don't give out any important info on an email message...
Jo, I always hover my mouse over the link..it should show where the link is going to in the lower left corner of your browser. another other than the banks ordinary website, I delete. Have you changed your password in your Chase account?
You may want to contact Chase and alert them to the contents of the bogus email.
Jo...let me add that when you do get a bogus email alleging to be from a business, forward it to their address using phish@wachovia. com or whatever company.

No, Norma, no real water close by. A big pond on the farm nearby. Probably about a mile from our big creek as the eagle flies, and 2 from the Potomac.

Yes, they moved the cam a little further up the tree...almost back to its original position in 2006. Great for seeing the fly ins and outs!
Hidey is not tagged and no GPS, so hard to tell where he is now!

Whatever the pics are if they are in facebook, you can click on them and then the directions for tagging are under the pic.

Jo, you click on tag this photo. Then go back to the photo and click on the person you want to tag. A box will appear and you either select a suggested name on you type in a name.
If you received the videos on fb there should be a share button under it.

Yup, got it from Best Buy, got an HP email last night, so I checked them out first...then checked out best buy...they had the same laptop w/ a different model number...and more disk space! Cheaper! and i could pick it up today. This puppy has 500 gigs of disk...my old computer only had 40. Also got a wireless mouse and new printer...none of that is hooked up yet...bbl gotta do my antivirus...

Paula, I got my laptop from Best Buy about 18 months ago, a Compaq Presario. I love it! I got the Trend Micro Antivirus that they recommended and have never had a problem. I also got a 2 year covers everything, even if the cat pees on it warranty, and I got 2 years of free Geek Squad support. I am glad I spent the money. It has beautiful display, and now with our wireless Fios I can use it anywhere which I REALLY love....couldn't go back to a regular computer after being so spoiled!
I was clueless about the "fn" key that you have to use to get some of the keyboard functions but my own fault for not reading the guide book!

get them. They have been few and far between but each time I get an update notice I hustle right in not knowing what to expect but praying for the best.
Pictures take up a lot of room...especially when you go to conowingo and take 300...that's my problem...I need to clean up pics that are out of focus, etc. I have already moved a ton off of here, not sure if I'll move them over to new one or not...
And of course, it has windows 7 and IE 8...got firefox downloaded and antivirus downloaded...I use AVG, it's free and works great!

I lost my hotmail account by answering what I thought was a legitimate Chase Bank email concerning my security. Would you believe I just got another bogus email - this time from Wachovia Bank with the same pretense of checking out my security. I deal with Chase but not Wachovia.
Best thing to do when you are in doubt is to highlight that incoming message's email address and copy it -
Do Ctrl T and open another tab - copy that email address in the url line and if bogus it will come up with Bad Request Just don't give out any important info on an email message...

yes, Lynn, it will be very different when Tai goes to China, I have often said, I wish he had gone back at the normal 2 year time, but he must go, because he will be 5 in July, and has to find himself a female, and make lots of panda cubs, I don't think a day has gone by since his birth that I have not checked on him, and have felt very privleged to be at the zoo during his time here.
