I decided yesterday that Daisy has settled in well enough now and serious training is underway. I am getting her used to wearing a "Haltie Lead" which goes around her head and nose softly but doesn't interfere with her being able to open her mouth at all...sort of the same principle as a horse halter. This will help with her leash manners and heeling, and also keep her from pulling when we walk. We are just using it in the house right now for very short sessions. Outside she's still on the long leash and regular collar. I have also started to use the squirt bottle....it's working very well with the cat situation. It allows me to not have to directly interfere so I can remain CALM and she doesn't realize it's coming from me and it's working like a charm. She is becoming much calmer around the cats now. Also, we are using small treats to reward her with along with happy voices and affection when we call her to come. I started when she was just a few feet away, and now we can call her from anywhere in the house and she comes running! We'll be working on that outside on the leash today when Steve gets home from work. I think once I decided to calm down, she did as well. We had a blast in the snow yesterday!!
Of course I have Normabyrd. It's all gravy.

Classes are interesting, but I shouldn't have waited until this year to do them all. I think something in my brain wanted me to retire this year, but I believe I should not put myself in the position of having to retire. I still have to earn bunches of points to get my certificate renewed.

I should go to store, but was told that the car I'm left with has a locking problem. When you're in, it automatically locks, but you can't get out by opening the handle. One of 2 buttons on door panel unlocks it from inside! I may spend the weekend at Tarjay!!!
Not planning any outings today unless the temps go up a few degrees by 5:00 so that I can get out to Mass.
I have a very large pot of chili stewing now!

Loretta - I have a button in my Toyota that I sometimes accidentally push and no one can get out and then another works that no one can put a window up/down. lol

Had a friend have a ruptured appendix Monday morning. She was in surgery 3 hours and came home last night. Going with another friend in a few hours to take her a meal. So, to the kitchen I go. Baltimore zoo - Pengins have been kept inside BUT the lonely seagull is still waiting patiently for them and their food. He is such a large seagull. I bet he misses his little friends.

Hedgie - Germany gang hasn't had the meeting yet. When they find out location of next assignment it probably wouldn't happen until Jan 11, 2011 - one more year. But they are hoping it would be much sooner - sometime this year.

Hello! I managed to get from home to Tarjay & back! Car unlocks itself as soon as you turn off motor! So there. Lots of little ifiot lights come on tho, but doesn't mean there's a problem. I read the book & Fubby called & the reason it tells you your tires are low is because he added air & the contain some other inflation material!
I had been working on deets & geese pictures, but we've seen lots of them. I took 20!!Now that I can blow them up, I can tell that one of the boys WAS Spot, Jr. He has a prong? missing from one horn.If I were mean, I would send one to neighbor & say this is how I like to see them. Maybe they'd take down the head that's been hanging from a tree for 2 weeks! I won't go out back & try not to look out kitchen window.
So glad your car travels didn't end up needing to cal 911 ! Always helps to read the book - right? Loretta - when you stopped the car - did you hold your breath until you heard the locks 'click' open.
We finally made it back home...
Left early this morning to go to Hagerstown to do a little shopping and what before my wandering eyes did appear?...on I-81, we saw a long shiny object flying from car to car, in front of us. I suspected it might be CEIL'S decoration that got away from her, so I told Gene to "FOLLOW THAT SHINY OBJECT"! Well, we followed it all the way to Shoneys Restaurant...went inside and WOW, there it was! Look on my JUST FOR FUN, Ceil, and tell me if that belongs to you!;)

Maybe, Captain Gene has done some of this...looking for shed deer antlers when they start dropping...experts say it is like morel mushroom hunting, once you find one, it gets a lot easier, but not easy when there is snow on the ground!
You have to try to find them before the squirrels and other critters scarf them up for the nutrients they contain
