Went out into the cold rain and refilled the suet hangers. Refilled the finch feeder, but I am out of regular seeds. I'll try to get some more later today. Also need marshmallows for the hot chocolate and some more fireplace logs.
Snowy morning greetings to all. Yuck---I hate snow! It's been steady since about 7...temp at 33 now. And snow in our nest, for sure! S&S----Beavers made headline in our paper!! Again, congrats! 3 in 6 yrs, and 10th overall---cool!
Thanks Lynn, isn't it great!!! Our boys work so hard, it is great. The QB is the son of my mom's preacher. Remember when he was born, like it was yesterday. We are so proud!!! Nothing better in the world than high school football!
GOOD SNOWY MORNING... Snow is sticking on the grass and in the woods but not on the driveway or sidewalk. Hope it stays that way all day. Glad you joined us again this morning, Dana:) In case some of you didn't read my comment last night about Ed's Obituary...I have posted a picture and a beautiful poem on my blog.
Got an appointment for a perm at 12:00 today. Am counting on the snow not being a problem at least for awhile. Must get ready to go. Have to pick up George medicines and food as well.
Yes, Sissy...High School football is such fun. I can remember a game when my Denise was a Senior. It was a very rainy evening and the field was just a mud pit. During one of the plays, a player was knocked to the ground and he was so covered with mud, that no one noticed he was still laying there, and continued on with the next play!:) We have laughed about that for 25 years! When I was a Senior in High School, our team was undefeated and when Denise was a Senior the team was, again, undefeated:)
Whoops! First thing I saw was snow in the nest! Also saw Sissy's picture of snow this morning. Well, we have bright blue sky...but it was 28 this morning. My flowers are gone now. No more impatiens, but my pansies are looking great!
Shirley, in Texas you get out and play in any snow you get! One of Laurel's friends down near Houston took her two year old outside to see his first snow. He kept saying "Uh, oh!" lol When I was in college I saw my first snow. My sophomore year we had a 12 inch snowfall. We took trays from the TCU cafeteria to the hills behind the dorms, to go sledding. We had so much fun!
Good Snowy Saturday Morning All! I have no plans for the day and will be able to sit here and enjoyed the large white flakes that are sticking to the grass and the deck. Roads are clear - This will surely get you in the mood to decorate in the house.
My high school (Annandale, Judie!!) team won state championship my junior year! What an exciting time that was!!! Stuff that memories are made of. We played Grandy in Richmond, Shirley, if you are familiar with that school!
Wanda again I owe you my THANKS and a HUG. I went to "Smiles". I had no help in picking card or verse; too much fussing from girls and girls walking out then back in, then walking out for good. No help from person that stayed that Ed has ask to help me. So I ask God and Ed to help me and it just happened. I read it from your "Smiles" and thank you. God and Ed did good directing me.
Still not caught up on blog. Wanda, crab legs sound good to me and Lolly, sorry I missed Laurel's birthday -- happy day-late birthday to her.
Snowing hard here now. Just got a call from my favorite Houston deputy sheriff and she said it is sunshine there today but the snow was great yesterday.
Shirley, glad you got a perm appointment. Careful driving.
Will call Washington Hospital Center on Tuesday to try to get a consultation with the recommended expert. Walter Reed people think it will be a bypass for the right leg because the disease has reached a point of "urgency." Maybe this is the time as I will be out of school until Jan. 11.
Lynn, snow is wonderful -- great excuse to stay inside and hide under the covers with a mug of hot chocolate. Warm and yummy!
Well, snow or no snow, I have to make my self continue to grade online assignments.
Dedicated teacher you are, Judie. Take your Christmas vacation to have surgery.
Jack is out unloading the attic. Will help when I can.
Have baked 4 dozen sugar cookies, two more in the oven, and two more dozen ready to go in. That leaves just two more dozen after that!lol Baking them for church. Tomorrow we have a party to assemble cookie kits. Two cookies per bag with little containers of icing and sprinkles. They will be given to children next week at the community party for those that need help with Christmas. We entertain the children with crafts and decorating cookies, while parents "shop" for Christmas gifts. It is helping those who need help, keep their dignity, and have a party at the same time. Also, have a sit down Christmas dinner for them with china and silverware.
Good Winter Morning, Everyone! Wow, would you LOOK at that nest! Guess you guys have really been getting some winter weather! It's 50 degrees out west here, which would probably feel like summer to you! We're expecting cloud cover all day today, and rain by tomorrow night. Daughter Jen called from Aubrey, TX to say how COLD it was there this morning! 32 degrees! High of 47 expected there today. No snow yet, though. Guess Houston got it all.
Hi, Judie, Still praying for your situation! Anxious to hear what the Dr. says on Tuesday. Hope you get lots of quality rest over the weekend. Hope your grading duties fly by quickly, and YOU can snuggle up with a quilt and some hot chocolate!!! Do hate to think you might have to spend your Christmas vacation on surgery and recuperation! I'd much prefer a miracle! All those in agreement, say AMEN!!
Mema Jo, Hope a cardinal cooperates with you and gives you the picture of a lifetime! Lolly, if I concentrate, I can SMELL the sugar cookies! YUM! It reminds me of my Grandma, who made really GOOD ones! (Think I was about 12 the last time I tasted one of hers.) Thanks for a neat blast from the past! Guess you and I both will be concentrating on finishing Christmas decorations today. We HAVE to get the outside lights done--rain predicted for tomorrow!
Snow is still coming down heavy big flakes. Now it is making the roads messy and if temps drop more I guess the salt truck will be coming! Hope all that had to go out in this will be home soon safe & sound. I bet the little ones are begging their parents to go out! Get those boots out!
Dana, It's great to see you here this morning! Hope you get a really GOOD panda nap! (((HUGS)))!!!
Think I forgot to to tell all you guys that on Dec. 1st, when I turned over the page of one of my calendars, there was a BEAUTIFUL picture of a pair of eagles! Will try to get a picture of it for you.
Shirley, hope the SAT test isn't cancelled for your kids. Would hate to see them be all psyched up for it, and then have to wait till a later date. Know what you meant about wishing for a 'snow day'--I actually hated them when we lived in SLC, Utah when I was 6 and 7 years old. I LOVED making snow forts and having snowball fights during recess and lunch!
Lost internet for awhile....had to go out and defrost the satellite!! Things are getting serious here----MANY wrecks...sure wish Margy didn't have to work tonight---and hope she doesn't get called in early. Still snowing---road is covered. Cancelled my insurance apptmt. Christmas parade in CharlesTwon/Ranson cancelled....daughter and SIL disappointed. Ranson town manager (SIL is on one of town committees) was having a post-parade party---of course, maybe party will go on anyway!
Judie put you on my prayer list. Would be great for that MIRACLE-AMEN.
I did get a good nap. My first day to have a nap since the 25th. With hardly no sleeping at night. Other that the one night daughter said put on at movie. She was right like I used to do if watch at night. Fell asleep on couch didn't see all of movie. But that is a Thank You God for that rest.
Good Afternoon my Eagle Friends, afternoon in all parts of the country....
There was a tee-tiny one eagle visit this morning around 7 am, got one picture of that, and posted one picture of the First Snow nest...now to get some feetsie prints on there! Sure is dark.
Hi Margy - Hedgie canceled her appointment. With my hubby driving I am going to go to Mass - 2nd Sun of Advent already.
Snow is slowing down now - that's not to say it won't start up again. Don't know the prediction of temps for tonight. Hopefully for you Margy people will stay home this evening!
I will always remember as a youngster, putting one shoe outside my bedroom door the night before the day, me and my younger older sister and brother, another sister, my Godmother, would make sure we had a candy bar in there in the morning. My favorite was Clark Bar ☺
You are right, Jo, not our house. That was a story emailed to me from my brother. (Not his house either!) I added Jack's name and sent it on. Very appropriate as we have been working on the yard decorations today. About finished, but will have to leave in less than two hour to go to Laurel's. Jack is presently sitting here watching football and working on the lights on a Santa that goes out in the yard.
Finally found out the results of the Catoctin Cougars Football game...
CATOCTIN WINS FIRST STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
BALTIMORE -- Catoctin High School won its first state football championship today, beating Harford County opponent Joppatowne, 37-12, in the Class 1A championship game at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. The Cougars finished the season without a loss. Their 14 victories are a school record.
Catoctin led 18-0 before Joppatowne ran an offensive play.
Senior quarterback Dylan May tossed a pair of touchdown passes to senior receiver Nick Nowaczyk. Brothers Paul and Eric Barbour and junior Austin Carter also scored on touchdown runs for the Cougars.
Is anybody watching Cloud? He wants to leave the den so bad. They were showing the outside view of the den and he was trying so hard to get the nerve to step out!!
Hi Dana! Yes, t.v./movie always seems to work sleep magic for me. So happy to hear from you.
Lolly, what a lovely way to help others celebrate the spirit of Christmas and the true meaning of love.
Ah Jo, wish you had been here this afternoon. Beautiful Mr. Cardinal perched on the edge of the birdbath filled with snow. Stunning! Please be careful going out to Mass and driving home.
Shirley, how did the SAT exam go? Hope all the students did exceptionally well. Hope you're home safely.
Hi Margy, hope all stays quiet and everyone stays sober or at least in their houses and not on the roads. I always make pork and sauerkraut and doctored up black-eyed peas for New Year's Day. A down south good luck tradition.
Wanda, congratulations on going to the Gator Bowl -- terrific opportunity/memory for everyone.
Hi Andy and Ed. Andy, hope you got your decorations finished before the rain.
Hi Ed.
Okay, off to rest the leg for awhile. Better surgery over vacation than amputation. Yes, it is that serious.
Tonight, shrimp scampi with angel hair pasta and salad.
Yes Judie - Rest that leg, try to feel the comfort from our prayers. I hope to make it to Annandale within this month...so I will be watching your reports.... ♥
I am home. Got permed. Bought birdseed and a bunch of other stuff, but did not think to pick up more fireplace logs. I have a couple, so I won't worry about that.
Judie, I hope for the miracle too, but if it is in the form of surgery, I hope that goes well and that you do have time to enjoy the holidays. You have a nice long break, but I am sure it will pass too quickly. If surgery brings you freedom from the pain you have been living with, that will be a good thing. Please keep us informed.
SAT--I do not go to the testing center. Teachers who teach the classes are not allowed to proctor the tests. That's how I got the teaching part of the job. One of my friends was doing both, and then they changed the policy and she had to decide which she wanted to do. She decided to work on testing day, so I inherited the prep job. It is possible that all of my students might not even be testing at the same place.
I noticed a cancellation in Charlottesville for this morning's SAT, but not at Culpeper.
It is very snowy here, though the roads were not bad when I came home. However, the temperature was 34 degrees. I expect the roads will get icy now that it is getting dark.
I think the nest cam is updating. It looks like the light is on now.
Dana, it is so nice to see you on the blog again today. We have missed you.
Margy, have as good a shift as possible! Judie, yes, I would say surgery must better than amputation!! Lolly, have a fun evening babysitting. I'm still working on decorating...looks like MAYBE the snow has stopped. Loud plops when it falls off trees=good snowball snow! Jo and Ed---be careful onthe roads. Yea, Catoctin!! And yea, 'eeers!! Lots of good football news for many of our momsters!!

SMILES, blog.
Slowly changing over to snow here.
LOL, Norma...the last 3 yrs. VA has gotten more snow than our part of WV!! We have been lucky for awhile....sure hope it holds!
Snowing pretty hard now.
Not sticking yet that I can see.
Can't see the "hole" in the nest, so must have been a clump of grass!
Got an appointment for a perm at 12:00 today. Am counting on the snow not being a problem at least for awhile. Must get ready to go. Have to pick up George medicines and food as well.

Hi Ed.
Okay, off to rest the leg for awhile. Better surgery over vacation than amputation. Yes, it is that serious.
Tonight, shrimp scampi with angel hair pasta and salad.

Looks like rain at BWO
Looks like our cam is refreshing, Margy

Black eyed peas and rice....old southern dish, too.
Eagle !!
Hi everyone!
I am home. Got permed. Bought birdseed and a bunch of other stuff, but did not think to pick up more fireplace logs. I have a couple, so I won't worry about that.
