As Helen reported, a dead woman got a Stimulus check. Is it any wonder our country is in the shape that it is?:( That is just 1 of the many mistakes made by our government. Whoa is me:)

Mits said...

thanks Wanda and Steve

Costume Lady said...

Helen, we could put a life vest on you to protect your ribs if you come with us on the visit;)

Mits said...

isn't that just amazing Wanda, I'm sure she is not the only dead person receiving money from the government

Costume Lady said...

MM could lay in the bedroom and Ceil Nightengale could take care of her:)

Mits said...

Wanda , I will be in ocean city for Memorial weekend,,,,hoping to leave to go down there next Monday

Mits said...

poor Ceil always the caretaker, but she is good at it

becky said...

the loon is off her nest again. go check out the eggs.

Costume Lady said...

Oh, lucky you. Is jubby going to be with you?

floralgirl said...

Yep, garter snake, cut little bugger, really. But I discovered him earlier this morning when I stuck my hand into a flat of salvia and felt something move. After a shriek I discoverd what it was, and let him hang out in the flats for hours where I took a pic. The problem is, he disappeared into the plants in the back of the Gh , and everytime I pick up a flat I'm afraid he'll be in it.
He's definitely in there to get some mice, and I like that:)

Costume Lady said...

Hi Becky, what's happening in Houston?

Mits said...

I was going to say, Megan, for a snake he is a cutie

Costume Lady said...

Maybe slulgs too, Megan? Do you have a problem with slugs. They make my hostas look like swiss cheese!:(

Mits said...

is that what does that to the hostas...

floralgirl said...

Yep, Wanda, could be, cause I have a real slug problem in one spot in the GH. Need to put a saucer of beer back there to catch them.
Back to work, planting in the garden. Pretty day!

Mits said...

yes, Wanda, he will come for the weekend, and so will the M&M girls:)

Mits said...

Conn osprey cam down again

Costume Lady said...

Megan, Gene wants to know what that PLANT is beside the snake;)

Costume Lady said...

I'm glad your family will be with you, Helen. Fun weekend for the girls too.

Costume Lady said...

I have put the bottle traps out with the top inverted and it does help, but can't get them all. Wish you could spray for them.

paula eagleholic said...

Thanks, Steve...yes the audio is certainly better than it was!!

Megan - I know they can't hurt you, but I'm sure having that little guy around sure sets your heart a pumping!

paula eagleholic said...

Ya learn something new everyday...didn't know the beer could get rid of slugs...I would think it would make them invite more over for the par-tay! :)

paula eagleholic said...

And thanks for the new thread, Steve!

Have we told you lately how much we ♥ our cam?

deb said...

Lunch time here, I am caught up on the blog. I like Megan's snake, I had one while I was mowing the other day. It was little and had a little different coloring than Megan's.

Need to look at Bob's pictures, yet.

deb said...

Bob, your pictures are great!

hedgie said...

Thanks, Mits.....I won't feel guilty anymore!!!
Yep, beer works on the slugs!

deb said...

Back to work for me, bbl.

Sorry.A snake is a snake. We have rattlers and moccasins... yuk

hedgie said...

Well, FINALLY got our live cam open. Sure don't know what the problem was for the last 2 days. Steady buzz/hum....sounds like a weedeater that won't stop! Hidey's feathers ruffling in the breeze.

Mits said...

and that is why it works Paula, the more the merrier, they come they drink, they drown.

Costume Lady said...

Yesterday seemed like Dr. appointment day around here too. Gene had 2. one at 10am and another at 1:15. I had one at l:45 and got a "new knee" (Yahoo!) and GeeGee had one at 3pm. I almost didn't get there in time. Dr wants to do a cystoscopy on her. Not very pleasant exam at all!! She doesn't know what it is like and...I am not going to tell her!

Costume Lady said...

Helen, that is the slugs motto: eat drink and be merry for tomorrow you may die:):)

Mits said...

lol....and they do, Wanda

BWE update........

Nest Update

05/12/09:
It appears one of the eaglets has hit our camera box while flapping or jumping in and out of the nest. Our view is a bit to the left now.

Also, we've finished Part 3 of the Eagle Cam Gallery and opened Part 4. Thanks for all the submissions.

Mits said...

Nest Update

05/12/09:
We've updated the Osprey Cam Gallery with the latest photos of the eggs. Thanks to everyone for their shots.

And as a reminder, we opened the 2009 Osprey Cam Web Log a few days ago.

Also, Bob Quinn has posted new photos from the Refuge.

I just had a great crested flycatcher out here. Beautiful bird! I am so excited. Back again!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I don't know if it is just passing through but it sure is pretty!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Now the flycatcher is on the roof flattening itself out I guess to either get warm and cool off.

Shuttle Atlantis Damaged After Lift-Off

NASA reports that there is some damage to space shuttle Atlantis after its launch on Monday.

well that is not good:(, what are they going to blame it on this time

Mits said...

what a nice gift, MS. B

Mits said...

have not heard from ceil yet, about MM

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

When they know that happens, why don't they turn them around and land the shuttle??

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Long day for MM and Ceil!

Mits said...

I don't know, guess they have to wait and look at films, I'm pretty sure all the emergency landing places were ok yesterday, they can't turn around right away and come back to Fla...but this is what happened to that last shuttle that fell apart over Texas saeveral years ago.

Mits said...

yep, another long one.

Mits said...

just talked to Ceil, MM is at Ceil's house. Ceil says she is acting like Goldilocks, they are trying to find her a place to get comfortable...couch too low, bed to high....going to be fun

Mits said...

Mei Xiang is up at the door doing her danced

Lolly said...

Just peeking in. Have been cleaning my closet. Long over due! Really having fun trying on jeans and Levi shorts that I had put up...too tight. Now have three "new" pairs of jeans and two pairs of shorts, More fun!!!

Mits said...

I had a dream the other night she was not pregnant, of course on the pain meds, had another dream that I was being attacked by a giant bougainvillea vine

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Eaglets sure do love a good breeze!

magpie said...

Mits Those are some dreams!
Sounds good, Mary Margaret being home at Ceil's - right, it does sound like Goldilocks!

I had a little trouble getting to the Blog and the live feed, had to google the sites and go in that way, but all is up and running now, so it is not just you, Paula and Lynn

magpie said...

Hidey seems to be enjoying the sunshine life this afternoon.

Mema Jo Congrats on a good doctor report.

And same to you Wanda -hope all works out well with that new knee and GeeGee's things too

magpie said...

Sounds like you are getting better, Lolly
Great !

Jessie said...

What type of camera lens is on the eagle camera? Depending where the eaglet is in the nest it looks small and in other locations it looks larger. How big is the eaglet at this time? Does anybody know? Thanks

magpie said...

Ceil Hope you and Mary Margaret sneak on and have a look at Hidey -
who ALSO seems to have a time getting comfortable sometimes

Good to hear that you are together at Ceil's Roost ☺ ♥

Lolly said...

Looks like Hidey found some leftovers in the nest. Yum!

magpie said...

Jessie
Most of the experts will probably start showing up on here soon and can probably give you some facts.
I can't answer either of the two questions, but I can tell you Hidey was hatched on March 14.

Yea, he (or she) looks like a regular Giant sometimes !!

floralgirl said...

Hey Wanda- I posted a picture on my blog of the plants that are to the right of the snake. Tell Gene they are not medicinal herb plants,as he may have thought, but just an ornamental annual vine called cardinal climber. A great hummingbird plant. And tell him I said to behave:)
Got to get out the row cover, weather gurus say patchy frost tonite, better put a blanket on some of my plants....

magpie said...

Your snake photos are great, Megan, and then I treated myself to looking at your flower bouquet pictures again. ☺

magpie said...

Cute, Hidey is cleaning up the nest !

magpie said...

Ulterior Motive: Find Food !

Mits said...

lol....had to go back and look at the plants again..:)

Mits said...

Jesse, don't know what kind of lens or technical stuff about the cams...someone will show up with the answer

hedgie said...

Hi again.....got very sleepy earlier and ended up taking a 2 hr. panda nap!!! No wonder I didn't feel like doing anything...I apparently needed more sleep! Oh, well, now that the whole day is shot.......
Jessie, if you are still lurking...don't know aqbout the cam lens, but keep in mind that the nest is probably 6 ft. across. The lens kind of distorts the perspective....Hidey is probably over a foot-to-14" "long" by now! Welcome to the blog.

hedgie said...

Margy, do you have to work tonight?

hedgie said...

Mits, I had a really weird and disturbing dream last night, too...one of those kinds that hangs in the back of my mind and bothers me alot.....sure don't know what causes that kind of stuff.
Just hearing about the Shuttle damage....MTBR....

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I am thinking that Steve will be the only one on here that knows the specs on the cam and lens, etc.

magpie said...

Good Evening everyone, leaving for work now. This answers your question, Lynn ☺ Hope it is a good one for everyone.

Not good news about Atlantis, will be anxious to read more about it.

Prayers for all, for wellness, comfort, and peace.

xo TTFN ♥

hedgie said...

Is that a flycatcher on yur avatar, Shar?

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Yes it is Lynn. Had one out here today. I get so excited when I get new birds!

hedgie said...

I looked it up after you mentioned it earlier, Shar.....very nice looking bird! You are reallly getting lucky!

From HI - From Doug Carrick, 5/12/09 LITTLE ECHO'S FINAL RESTING PLACE

At 12:30 today I buried our little Echo. He is now, and always will be, in a beautiful corner of our garden. A "forest flame" shrub is on one side of him and a scented azalea on the other side. He is surrounded by blue bells, hyacinth and bleeding hearts. A deep red rose and a white rose grow up the fence behind him.
The beach can be seen from here, the deep blue water and the distant mountains - lovely surroundings for our lovely little eaglet. He is now resting in peace.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Thanks Megan! :(

deb said...

I am home, and am looking at 5 little kestrel chicks. They are so cute.

Sharon, I would love to see your birds, you get some nice ones in your yard!

deb said...

Kestrel parent is home and feeding chicks.

Costume Lady said...

What a wonderful memorial Doug wrote for little Echo. It actually made me tear up, and I don't tear up very easily:( What a tender-hearted man he must be.

deb said...

The Red-tail chicks are already walking around the nest and I just watched one do a very short wing flapping!

hedgie said...

That is a really nice tribute to Echo...can just picture that lovely location.

deb said...

That was a very nice post from Doug. What a hard thing to do, I would not be so strong.

Close up of REd-tail chicks!

deb said...

Zoomed back out.

deb said...

WooHoo! Good news for SD on the eagle!

Local ranchers are telling us of multiple bald eagle nests in Perkins
County. Only two years ago we recorded a first bald eagle nest in Perkins
County in more than 50 years. The bald eagle is back.

Mits said...

that was a nice tribute to Echo.

deb said...

A note from Loraine on the Kent nest:

Too bad the camera connection has been disabled since they're here often and again today building up the nest. I know it's way too late (or would that be too early?) but they continue to leave greenery (the NO VACANCY sign) in the nest and more new just a bit ago too -- strange quirky beautiful birds...lol.

deb said...

Not sure why she thinks the cam is disabled, I can bring it up and I see the greenery!

Really yucky outside, going to batten down some things. Nothing on the radar, so guess it is just really windy and humid.

NatureNut said...

Good Evening Everybody!!
Have not been able to write all day! Had site & Hidey on at work, but really busy.Did get to read some of yesterday's. Even gave up & put part of my lunch back in fridge!
Mits, read MM was to come home today! Hooray for her.☺

deb said...

I just lost power, it didn't last long, if it goes again, I might just stay off.

hedgie said...

Deb, thank goodness for a short outage! Is Perkins Co. your county?? Really neat!

NatureNut said...

What a beautiful tribute for Echo. Last night I saw a beautiful picture montage someone on their Forum put together.

BBL - Idol on

hedgie said...

Really cooling off here.....possibility of frost tonight! Hope it doesn't hit Megan's!

deb said...

No, Perkins county is West River, out in the middle of no where! There are quite a few nests around here, most of them are not accessible, some only by water on the river.

deb said...

We had frost the other night, but only in low areas. Hopefully Megan will be okay.

paula eagleholic said...

Evening, all.
Very nice tribute to little Echo from Doug. He has watched the Hornby pair for over 20 years...

Gotta go walk the puppies...

paula eagleholic said...

Hope we don't have any frost...better check!

SC Eagle Lover said...

Hello from SC. Thought I would check in before mopping kitchen. Think I saw 3 young eagles flying over work today. No white heads so I am not sure. (amateur at this) Certainly had the right body and wing shape. A few months ago I saw two mature eagles - they flew over me so low I could see their beaks! Watched them circle higher and higher then snatch a "parking lot gull" right out of the air. This is in Camden, SC - not known for our eagle population. Have seen one for years sitting on rocks in Wateree river so they are here.

SC Eagle Lover said...

which parent is in nest right now?

SC Eagle Lover said...

which parent is in nest right now?

paula eagleholic said...

Jessie - Hidey is about 2 feet long by now...

paula eagleholic said...

And all the birds look larger up by the lens...and smaller further away

ceil said...

Good evening everyone. Just stopping by to thank you for MM for all the eaglet momsters and dadsters prayer. Momsters and dadsters prayers rock. Going to watch some tv and fall asleep. Have to get goldilocks settled for the night. Hugs to all.

Everytime I see bears I think of a really popular song for kids from yesteryear. My Mom had to buy the 78 RPM. Was "The Teddybear Picnic".

Mits said...

Lynn, thanks for the picture! I had hump day today. Mary and I are headed to Custer on Friday, we hope to see lots and lots of birds! Too bad that Roger can't come, he is our expert. Mary and I muddle through without him and send him lots of pictures for verification.

Now I am really going to read!
