Interesting is the fact that the U.S. Circuit Judge Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court would make her the first Hispanic in history to be picked to wear the robes of a justice.
Good morning! Have had my coffee and watered my plants. Takes Jack and I a while to water everything. Going to Denton again. Picking up Jacob at school, preparing dinner and then going to Joseph's ball game. Laurel has only 8 more days of school, then they are out for the summer. Poor Jaoob had a bad fall yesterday. Was playing in the sprinkler with a neighbor friend and slipped on the sidewalk. Hit the side of his head hard on the concrete. He cried, almost threw up, and slept. Laurel kept waking him and checking his eyes, so guess no cuncussion. Poor baby!
Been watching Hidey. Won't be long! Also watching the loon, but need to eat so I can do my excercises.
MORNIN' LOLLY!---Sorry about JACOB'S fall!--Wonderful that he is better this am!---My grand-kids & adult daughters are counting school days too!!---Enjoy the game---sounds like fun!!!
Paula, Lori added the Eaglelicious last week! Rain had tapered off for awhile, but picking back up again...very little wind here. This will be my day to get back on doing windows in the sunroom (wish I could say I don't do windows, but....it is what it is!); it's one of the those jobs that doesn't like sun!
Yeah, Norma, get my fix of hugs and kisses today. Oh, sometimes they try to fight me off, but I am still bigger than them. Ha! I sit on them, tickle them until they tell me I am the best Grandmommy in the whole world. They love it! Joseph is too big for that, but Jacob is a riot. Zach, too, when I see him!
I was just going through a small stack of newspaper clipping recipes and one flew off the counter and I CAN'T IT ANYWHERE!!!!! Only possibility is that it drifted back behind the cabinets through the little gap between them and wall...argh! Luckily, it was a recent enough piece that when I googled it, I found it online!
Thanks for answering Jim, Sharon! Nope, I didn't know that either. And, as I posted several weeks ago, a flock of crows is a MURDER--learned that on Jeopardy. A flock of ravens is a CONGRESS!
MORNIN' HEDGIE---BEAUX63--GA-GIRL--& MOVIN'JIM!---Hope I didn't miss anyone!---I have my windows open & weather is 57° & drizzling!!-- MITS -- Did you know that a bunch of donkeys can be referred to as a PACE of donkeys!!--ho!
LOLLY---I do the same things with my grand-kids!!---Oldest now thinks she too old to be HUGGED!--she gets stiff---I tickle her--!! The others are still huggers---except I have to chase the little one first!!! ho!---LIFE IS GOOD!!
Did I miss Hidey's lunch?? I was paying some bills!! Thanks for the info - I just love this little thing!!! I keep it on all day - I just heard some flapping and ran back here to check on her - How are you today Norma???? Thanks, Hedgie & Jim for answering my question!!
Norma, no sweats here....my windows aren't open...LOL!!! Been thinking about Thelma all day....sure hope she gets the job! And Andrea started her classes today....she was so excited!
Afternoon all. Just saw the baby loon so cute. We just got back from Walmart and in the grass over near there were 9 baby goslings. Took MM to the mall and to walmart. She did good.
Got to the Finland water chat site...a lot of talk bout cam not refreshing often last week, but no one mentioned that it wasn't changing at all. Finally found a capture w/ the 23rd date and 16:04 time w/ some Finnish text..gist of translation: hail storm...cam has stopped. Sure hope they are working on it!!!!
Mmmmmm, Ceil....sounds delicious! Think I'll check freezer and see if I have any schwan's diced chicken....I may fix that, too! Way to go, MM---build up that strength!
I didn't get to see that happen with the hatched egg. That little one thinks he owns that nest!!! I keep waiting and watching in case he is taken for his first ride on the adult's back!
Hallelujah Hawaii...watching the action at Minnesota. Best email of the day was Jo's Loon Hatch alert.. been watching and my computer is not freezing up!
Wonderful to behold...
Looks like I will catch up on last evening and this morning's posts, in the morning after work ☺ Have only read posts since the Split! xoxo
Okay - see Hidey has changed positions finally..thought our Still Cam was stuck. See that BWO is back to normal....the view that is was all watery looking this morning..
Caught up on the posts, all the links and photos will have to wait til morning....Aaaaaaaaaah, that will be Fun!
Sounds like everyone is doing pretty well....
Wanda : Hope that GeeGee's scan went well, will look forward to updates on that too.
Got to get ready for work, will watch Looney til the end - and Hidey of course then out the door.
Time to find the Fairy and get ready for work....she has her work ahead of her!
Hi Folks...have been on the loon cam alot today. 1st chick hatched as you know...2nd egg still under parent. The chick took a tumble some hours back and almost fell into the lake...which gave some of us a heart attack...Not sure I have the stamina to continue watching until the second egg hatches...like being in the waiting room all day at the hospital :( Sounds like all had a nice time at the site visit over the weekend and glad the weather held out for the most part for you all. Will be closing out this evening...but just wanted to say hi and wish all a happy day after the holiday...somehow these 4 day weeks are longer than the 5 day ones :( Take care and will see you all tomorrow...our dear Hidey is growing so big...I hope I am here when fledge happens...!
Geeesh thought I would stop in to see how things are with Hidey and everyone and there sits a big black bird on the very edge of the nest squacking occasionally and giving me heart failure AND I discover you seem to have all gone looney LOL. I work tonight but figured I needed a glance at NCTC eaglet now as well it doesn't appear like fledging is too far away. Take Care all.
Hi Sharon have to peak in every now and then but I have to admit I have not let myself get too attached this year I just can't right now. Still have to see my favorite nest and our eaglet every now and then. Chances are I will not be sitting here typing fledge as it happens though not this year.
Finally got a look at little Looney...cute little fella from what I could see. How soon will he take a ride on mama's back? Anyone know? And does she carry more than one at a time when it happens?
Hi, Glo...you and Margy are our real night-owls! Hope you have a good shift, and hope Margy's is quiet....with all this rain...probably not! Hi, Bozzett...are you only able to get on while at work?
Poor Hidey looks like a drowned bird. What a yucky day...but know that we need the rain...especially Megan! She must still be working too hard...hasn't spent any time with us today.
The loon in the water sat by the nest and the baby jumped/fell in.
The loon on the nest got off the nest and joined the its mate and baby in the water and swam off a little ways. The second egg is laying on the nest exposed. There is no obvious hole or crack in the second egg but there may be something on the other side or underside that are out of view.
I've been watching the Loons and baby for a half hour and it is so soothing. It's amazing to see that little black ball of fluff just get up and go into the water and climb all over parent's back as opposed to other baby birds that can't hold their heads up for days! Nature is so interesting and it is all here for us to see:)
your right Paula, just ate some dinner, maybe I will call it a day, last load is in the dryer....at least there are new shows like Deadliest Catch on TV tonight, usually when the network shows finish for the season the stations like HGTV, Food Network A&E, etc, start their seasons
your right, I rearranged my whole schedule at the zoo, so I could be here, if Mei were pregnant, I would have gone home, but they can do it without me....jubby keeps reminding me I'm just a volunteer, and he is right, had to shift my priorities
Helen, GeeGee did really well today. Her scan only took 20 minutes. We go to the Urologist on Thursday to see what, if anything they found. Will let you know. How's the ribs doing. I hope you get well and completely healed up soon, because I haven't been able to eat ribs since your accident:( TRUE STORY
still sore, but better than they were....4 weeks tomorrow....funny, jubby wanted to go to JR's rib place last night, we went and I ate the ribs, like falling off a horse, had to get back up and ride again;)
Goodness, Mits, you really are working too hard!! Slow down, girlfriend...time for a rest. Wanda, glad that GeeGee got along well. LOL about the rib aversion :) Thanks for the flamingo info, Mits...they are so graceful, and the color is showing much more vibrantly on this closer cam view.
The plants on the Loon nest look like they might be wild iris or lillies of some kind. Hope the cam stays up long enough to see them bloom. Going to process my photos from Saturday from the camera to the 'puter. Hope I have some goodies. If I don't make it back here...GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE.
Good evening all. I ain't even going to watch that loon cam for now! I had to look a little while to find Hidey. Getting ready for bed now. I am still worn out from the trip!
Paula, if I have some of the Sopapilla, would you like me to put a little taste on your picture??? That was so funny in person watching Wanda feed Lolly, but even funnier watching it again on Gene's video...roflmbo!
I have been out running around - I can't really spot Hidey - what position in the nest do you all see her?
If you all can find the blue link that Lynn (Hedgie) placed in one of her earlier comments about the Loon Information - The baby is safer & more protected while on the parents back out in the water then sitting in the nest. Ten days was mentioned as the length of time the parent will carry the young around on their backs.
Can't believe that after all of that crab fishing, the Hillstrands would go fishing on VACATION!! Even tho' it's a warm clime, I would think enough is enough being at sea! Jonathan is a hoot to watch dancing!
Jo I just read Larry's comments. He said it is a good thing there is not sound. Right now the little loon is safe on dad's back. I am calling it a night. Pleasant dreams all.

Jim
Jim, the hatch date was March 14.
LOL, Norma...must be that CRS cropping up again!
did you know??????
Several eagles soaring in a thermal together is described as a "kettle of eagles."
No Mits, I did not know that. But, also I have never seen over 2 adult eagles at one time.

Hello Glo. Great to see you on here!
Well, 19 out of 24 window panes done in sunroom...whew!! Hard on the ol' shoulder joints! Only 6 are "small" panes.
I made Lolly's Sopapillas today...very rich, very GOOD!!!! Had to try it before planning to make for company next month!
Hi Sharon have to peak in every now and then but I have to admit I have not let myself get too attached this year I just can't right now. Still have to see my favorite nest and our eaglet every now and then. Chances are I will not be sitting here typing fledge as it happens though not this year.
LOL besides if I yell fledge the way I did hatch well I will once again be loony with the rest of you LOL.
later, Paula.
Finally got a look at little Looney...cute little fella from what I could see. How soon will he take a ride on mama's back? Anyone know? And does she carry more than one at a time when it happens?

Hedgie - I am coming over for dessert! I have the ingredients but haven't made it yet!
egg alone at loon's nest
Looks like a fish still laying behind the blob.
loon just swam by, not on this one's back, must be on the other parents back
from Larry....
The first baby loon is IN THE WATER!!!
The loon in the water sat by the nest and the baby jumped/fell in.
The loon on the nest got off the nest and joined the its mate and baby in the water and swam off a little ways. The second egg is laying on the nest exposed. There is no obvious hole or crack in the second egg but there may be something on the other side or underside that are out of view.
loon back on egg
OMG...look at the Flamingo cam at NZ.....lovely sight!!! Different view from what I used to look at!
Lynn, they are building their nests, so they must have changed the view to show it...some are already sitting on the mounds
looney was on parents back, now in water by itself
finished 2 bedroom and bathroom closets....heading to kitchen, and laundry room tonight, after dinner, I hope
Don't over do it Mits!
Gonna see if I can spot the baby loon getting a free ride :)
your right Paula, just ate some dinner, maybe I will call it a day, last load is in the dryer....at least there are new shows like Deadliest Catch on TV tonight, usually when the network shows finish for the season the stations like HGTV, Food Network A&E, etc, start their seasons
how did Gee-Gee do today Wanda?
Sounds like you've been at it all day...you'll be there long enough to get it all done.
your right, I rearranged my whole schedule at the zoo, so I could be here, if Mei were pregnant, I would have gone home, but they can do it without me....jubby keeps reminding me I'm just a volunteer, and he is right, had to shift my priorities
5 flamingo nests in view
Helen, GeeGee did really well today. Her scan only took 20 minutes. We go to the Urologist

Goodness, Mits, you really are working too hard!! Slow down, girlfriend...time for a rest.
Wanda, glad that GeeGee got along well.
LOL about the rib aversion :)
Thanks for the flamingo info, Mits...they are so graceful, and the color is showing much more vibrantly on this closer cam view.
Does anyone know of plans to publish footage of Hidey's fledging? It's bound to happen soon
I'm quitting at 9:00 p.m., Lynn;)
don't know, Hawklady, depends on who is watching and knows how to do it?
loon baby is swimming all around the nest, looks like it is trying to figure out how to get back in
Mom loon called dad. dad came and baby loon is swimming with him. Hope they get him back in the nest.
Time for Deadliest Catch! BBL.
Baby loon still in the water. People on chat room are concerned.
Got my slideshow done of our visit on Saturday....link is under May 23rd with the pics I posted a couple of days ago.

Hawklady - If I see it I will certainly tape it!
If no one can capture it, maybe Steve will be able to publish it for us!
Good evening all. I ain't even going to watch that loon cam for now! I had to look a little while to find Hidey. Getting ready for bed now. I am still worn out from the trip!
Loon is off nest Going to look for baby and other loon.
Hey, Helen, did you hear Sig talking Norwegian? Bet that's kind of what Finnish sounds like!!
Paula, if I have some of the Sopapilla, would you like me to put a little taste on your picture??? That was so funny in person watching Wanda feed Lolly, but even funnier watching it again on Gene's video...roflmbo!
Sure Hedgie, give me a taste!
That was me giving Lolly a taste...she has done so well on her diet, I figured she deserved a treat! Wanda wiped off her mouth :)
Like Lolly said, it's calorie free that way!
I heard that Lynn, I bet they are concerned Ceil, it has to be tired and hungry:(
Two Harbors nest now has sound!!
Jo, I think Hidey is at 2-3 o'clock.
I am glad to hear that about the loon!
Thanks, Sharon!
Thanks Jo. The last time I saw the loon it was not on the parents back. Larry was suppose to come back to the blog but has not.
Ceil - I guess they are born to swim!
I keep checking but not sure he will be brought back to the nest.
Larry's comments are from 8:02pm
I think it is the new one Very lengthly ..
WOWSIE Larry's Blog sure tells us quite a story

I guess I am to say,
There is a "pack" of Raccoons in the PA woods!
Jo I just read Larry's comments. He said it is a good thing there is not sound. Right now the little loon is safe on dad's back. I am calling it a night. Pleasant dreams all.
