Hidey sure is growning up...can't waiit to see some WING DANCING in person! Are you coming with us, Norma? We have a whole day planned...Lunch in the Eagle Express and Dinner in the Clarion's new TUSCANY GRILLE, or the Rumsey Tavern, depending on the respose that I get from Momsters attending. So far, Margie is the only respondent. Don't make me come after you all with my cane. We want you ALL there:)
MORNIN' DEB!---REMEMBER---the forecast isn't always CORRECT!---TODAY---We are thinking--HAPPY THOUGHTS & HAPPY BIG FEET!!---something like that!!---ho!
What I wouldn't give to be able to be there with ya'll this visit! But Memorial Day is a hard time to get away, had reservations at the lake since last September for that weekend. Maybe I can get up there for open house in the fall! :((
Good Morning, all!! Hidey woke me up this morning yelling!! Mom or Dad brought him a fish and he wanted fed - I think they are trying to make him eat on his own!!
MORNIN' BEAUX63----Our 'LIL' ONE has a mind of her own!--(that's why i think she is female) ho!--She DEMANDS her food!---She has never had to share!!---But who wouldn't love that ADORABLE -- INTELLIGENT -- EAGLET???
WHOA!!--New folks!---If you were watching our BABY---She just did what we call----"A POOP SHOOT"---lifts her rear & the white poop goes out off the nest!!---They learn this at an early age!!
Sorry Normabyrd - got called away - I am from Youngstown, OH - someone sent me this link in an e-mail on Friday and I've been addicted ever since!!! Just discovered the blog yesterday, though! Where are you from??
She don't really want to go yet. She still has 2-3 weeks of practicing to go and then she will be ready! :)
Beaux63, in the past, all eaglets have fledged from around the 4-5 o'clock position of the nest. Don't know why exactly they choose right there but all have so far.
Thanx, Sharon!! Good Morning!! I just think this is the coolest thing ever!! My best friend and I leave the nest up on our computer screens and run back and check on it every now and then - then we text message each other saying what Hidey is doing!! She texted me while I was out mowing the lawn yesterday to tell me that Mommy or Daddy was in the nest! I came running in because I had yet to catch one of the parents in the nest and I finally got to see one!!
This is such a blessing to get to watch. Modern technology is a wonderful thing. Also, the friendships that I have made through this blog are wonderful!
Good Morning all you active AM birders! Praying that MM is comfortable and has had some breakfast and is ready to go Home! Checking on Mei and she if flat out/down for a morning panda nap! Here is to All of you Making it a Good Day!
We have a nest close by on the other side of Canfield - people park on the side of the road and they watch the eagles from either binoculars or cameras with zooms - I've even seen people at night with night-vision goggles!! But you can't see much - this eaglecam is just wonderful!! I got up at 3 am and snuck a peak of Hidey sleeping - kept hearing tapping sounds - I'm assuming one of the parents was sitting on the camera or close by and was either preening or moving sticks around!!
This is better than my Goldfinch flock watch in the summer - I plant sunflowers in patches all over my yard and every evening at 5:15, a flock of Goldfinches start at one side of my yard and they make their rounds through all the patches - it is so neat to watch - gotta be like 15 of them - I'm hoping they come back this summer - I'm gonna plant the sunflowers in the same exact spots as last year - must have lucked out and chose the right spots!!
I'll sometimes take a ride out to the nest site during the day and you can see the parents perched on branches around the nest but you don't see much of the eaglets - the nest is just too far up in the tree and even with binoculars you can't see much, but people show up with all different kinds of sighting equipment!! I'm sure they get the same thing down in WVA!!
Beaux, do you know a guy named Ozzie?? Seems like he lives near Youngstown and he has been watching a nest with 2 eaglets in it. He is the one that started this journey for me in 2006.
When I first started watching, my family kept telling me that I needed a life. I kept telling them that I had one and it was pretty good. Loved watching this stuff. Now my sister, who was one of the main ones telling me that, has about 15 cameras up on 2 different computers, pandas, eagles, osprey, etc.
I happened to be looking at the Hummer nest, and although the second chick is not yet visible, the second egg is no longer exactly egg shaped. I think the second chick is breaking out now.
For those interested in a read, or just in looking at the pictures, there's a late posting of last week's Northern Channel Island Report on the IWS site.
Hello all:) Beautiful day outside, fog has burned off and the sun is shining! Will have to check out Bob Q's pictures later on.... Yep, garter snake, cut little bugger, really. But I discovered him earlier this morning when I stuck my hand into a flat of salvia and felt something move. After a shriek I discoverd what it was, and let him hang out in the flats where I took a pic. The poroblem is, he disappeared into the plants in the back of the Gh , and everytime I pick up a flat I'm afraid he'll be in it.
GOOD MORNING, EVERYBODY-- (it still is morning here in SoCal!) Have had to run a bunch of errands, so couldn't be here until now. Glad to see that Hidey is kind of 'laying low' in the nest. It sounds really windy there. It's wonderful to have sound again, by the way! Hope everyone is feeling well today; is MM home from the hospital now? Prayers for her (and everyone else's) speedy recovery! By the way, one of the Mother's Day gifts I got was a 'Smithsonian Field Guide to the Birds of North America'!!! It has a DVD with it, with 587 bird songs on it! (Ask if that's been FUN to listen to!) So nice to hear a Cardinal and a Cedar Waxwing again! Well, Hidey sure seems to be enjoying the sunlight there! Guess I'd better go get some lunch while things are quiet there. Take care, and will BBL. :o]

My starling/flicker saga continues. Both in the tree as we speak. Starling always seems to win out though.

Wanda, I sent you an email about the dinner...
Yup, it's cool, isn't it Beaux
Hidey is preening...trying to get all those little down feathers out....
Seems to be enjoying the breeze this morning!

Beaux, do you know a guy named Ozzie?? Seems like he lives near Youngstown and he has been watching a nest with 2 eaglets in it. He is the one that started this journey for me in 2006.
No, can't say I know anyone by that name, but I've heard that our Canfield nest does have 2 eaglets in it!!
I have also been told there is supposed to be a nest in Mill Creek Park but it's in the swamp and its a restricted area.
Beaux - the NCTC nest is on a restricted campus....it's an FWS training center, gated, etc
But we do take binocs, and scopes and cameras with us when we go....we arrange it in advance!

Upcoming Nest Visit 5/23/09
Dinner Intentions (Head Count) Wanda posted a message on the Momsters' email and this is the information for those of you not getting those emails.
HI EVERYONE...
A few days ago, I posted a comment about our Nest Visit on Saturday the 23rd of May asking that those who are planning to join us for dinner around 4:30 - 5:00 pm to look over the menu of the new eatery, the Tuscany Grille. It is the same location in the Clarion as was the Sebastian Room. THE TUSCANY GRILLE, serves italian dishes and more. The menu is posted on my blog "Just For Fun". Check it out and tell me what you think. I need to call in the Head Count and hope to see as many of you as possible there. Please email me at my personal address with any comments and your intentions.
(((HUGS)))
Wanda
Good morning all!

Thanks again for bringing the photos over to all of us.

LOL Bob, we will never let you live that down!! :)
((hugs))
Sorry, I can't make the trip to the nest. I'd love to get some shots with the occupants some day.
Norma - email me your mailing address.

PS- Bob, the name is not the Rum Runner , if that helps...
I know, it's the Rumpelstiltskin Tavern!
Well, Megan, your visitor looks non-poisonous, and it probably doesn't eat full size flower growers. Hahaha.

Jim
And now they've changed the name again...poor Bob
No thank you, Wanda. I want to come visit you, see your flowers and green house, but I think one guest at a time is enough!
Morning all! Just watched Hided do a poop shoot and his wingersizes.
All other cams seem quiet. Need to check the loon.
Megan - Was that a garter snake?
Love the flowers....
morning everyone, Mary Margaret hopefully will be released sometime after lunch, is the latest I have heard.
Nice pics Bob. Cool to see the parents hanging around...eagle and osprey alike.
Good news, Mits!!
Megan, hence the reason I am a transcriptionist and not a floralgirl!
Megan, nice pet you have there:)
Megan, shoot it, shoot it now!! Useful snake, WHATEVER!!!! I hear people say that but it seems like an oxymoron to me!!!
New update on Mason's site.
Talk to you all later. Got to take care of business.

Thanks, LOlly, must be me...
Time for me to eat something. Close to finishing my coffee. Time to eat and get a move on, but sitting here is sooooo nice.
Have a great day everyone!
mine has that annoying buzz in the audio, Paula, but I do hear the wind
Finney's osprey has that Rod Stewart look going on.
