Laynie - If Hidey has fledged, he will return! Sometimes it takes a couple of days after fledging. He will stay in the area for aroudn 6 wks, but we will see less and less of him.
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!---I have spent forever reading & catching up----just assumed that this is one time her name 'HIEDY' fits her!!--I think HIEDY aka MIRACLE -- is going to pull off the MIRACLE name & appear this am!!!---'come out---come out where ever you are'---WE LOVE YOU!
Thanks all for the great info on the "after fledging". I appreciate all you have taught me about eagles over these past few weeks. I have been watching another site (from NJ, my home state) where there are three eaglets. It is very hard to watch how they bully each other around after getting so use to watching Hidey and her adorable antics with no "in-nest" violence.
Sure would like to know whether he used the launch pad! If he was under the cam, I would think he would have been seen at some point in the last 2 hours!
LAYNE---If there were 3 at our nest this year---one would see the same 'in house fighting & pecking'!----OUR LITTLE ONE IS A WEE BIT SPOILED!!---But that's what makes her so lovable!!! ho!
Paula.. yup... Dukes Farms. One of those Eaglets is a real bully though!! Always showing dominance. But they are certainly growing nicely. I really thought the little gray one (not gray anymore) was not going to survive, and she is thriving nicely now.
Norma... now that I have gotten "into" this eagle watching, I have learned about what you said... "fighting and pecking", but my first encounter was with Hidey, so now I was spoiled as well as Hidey!!! LOL
She certainly is a spoiled little one. I loved watching her test the waters with her parents over the past few days... pecking at them!
Wasn't Jim the last one to see Hidey? Jim you got that eaglet----give him/her back to us. No Birthday Party tomorrow if you are holding that eaglet riclmbo=rocking in chair laughing my butt off.
Does anyone think he could have done a little hop & is just sitting on a nearby branch - OR, after his eager behavior yesterday - do you think he has fledged?
Just getting up down here in Houston. So Hidey fledged??? She/he was sound asleep in the nest when I went to sleep last night (about midnight your time). I hope someone has tape! Yea for my first eaglet!!!!
Hi, Everybody, I've been watching for about 20 minutes. Thought I just heard something hit the camera, and a bit of a noise. Could Hidey be up under the camera? Seems like that happened yesterday or the day before... Hope the rascal is still close by!
Hidey has been amazing to watch! Is it possible to "love" a wild animal so much? :) This is addicting. You guys do realize I'll have to follow you around to other nests/wildlife now!
I forgot to thank you guys for the pix from last weekend (I think I saw Paula's?). They (and others before it) really put everything into context with the nest cam.
MEMA JO--PAULA--GLO--DANA--WANDA--SHARON--SUZANNE--MITS--JIM--& all EAGLE LOVERS---We should have known better!!---ho!---'never trust a beautiful little eaglet again--they will steal your heart'---but you will keep them in your heart FOREVER!----
Those of you who have been there . . . isn't that the river in the upper right hand corner? It was easier to see when there weren't leaves on the trees, but I have always thought it was the river. Also, how long might it take Wanda to get there?
Stronghunter, the river is actually way back behind where the camera is. When you are at NCTC, you can see the parents flying up over the hill from the river. Awesome sight.
Now that is one of the white dogs barking. Someone must be at the curve in road. By where the guard lives. We have watched the nest many time from that curve in the road.
Maybe only Sprint cell phones. That is what I had and called. When she went there she would call and I would tell her what I was seeing in nest. She would tell me what she was seeing and I would type that here for her. She had Sprint also.
I heard that horn honk too-- do you think it might be Wanda?! Golly, I hope that if Hidey did fledge that it was caught on video!
The wind's blowing more at the nest. What's the weather? I thought it was supposed to be fair, am I correct? ARRRGH the suspense is ruining my blood pressure!!!!
I just a shadow go by like at 12 o'clock and to the left. Nothing, think it was leaves blowing. Thelma thinks I am crazy and that very well could be. Going blind watching at 6 o'clock for any movement. I have to go. I need somebody to let me know when Wanda reports back in. I sent Lynn and Dana my phone numbers. Lynn just said she would call. I will check in from Sissy's computer at the flea market.
WHOA! BLUEFIELD SHARON!!---If there is a lull---maybe you could fill them in on our other EAGLET---that was LOVED & is still LOVED by all who knew her---"SPUNKY"!--she is still in our hearts---& WILL ALWAYS BE THERE FOREVER!!----
Okay, Shar...just opened it...will do! Wish Wanda would let us know something....she never said that she WAS going....was just thinking about it, right??
Upon close inspection, could it be that Hidey is branching at about 10:00-- almost hidden by leaves? There's a dark spot there. The tree trunk kind of obstructs our view, too. Can't remember what's down on the ground, but whatever the dark spot is, it looks closer.
I was awake at 5:20 this morning (Sat) and heard a lot of noise. When I looked at the eglet and she was gone..I guess she has taken flight..we will miss her..
Good Morning All - On this very very special day! This is the big 11th week event in Hidey's life! Hidey has everyone's attention. I just knew this was going to happen one morning when I signed in and No Hidey to be seen. Anxiously awaiting Wanda's report
DEB--I think if WANDA didn't go---She would be on here with the rest of us!----I'm not sure how far she is from nest---she is in Berkeley Co.--nest in Jefferson!
Wonder what it's called when baby squirrels leave their nest? I have a whole lot of little ones running around that I haven't seen before! Crows are out there, too--hope they aren't planning on snatching any.
Hey all... Stopped back in and I see no word from Wanda yet, and no Hidey yet? As far as the comment about the shadow at 10:00 a.m., I persontally think if that was Hidey we would have heard her... either her usual whining or even the flapping her wings she loves to do.
Well, seek and ye shall find....a squirrel nest is called a drey, and they are about 10 wks. old when they leave the drey...so guess we can say they de-drey!!
I'M BAAAACK! Wow, what a beautiful morning to go to the Sycamore Tree. Could not see Hidey, but Belle is above the nest looking out for Hidey. The leaves are so full and dense now, that I could barely se the nest. I could see something near the cam that could have been Hidey, but whever he is, he's probably afraid to move and won't for awhihle. I forgot my memory stick to my camera!!@#$&**!

I didn't expect her to fly this early in the am!---It is a wonderful am to FLY!---The 'little imp'!!!
BBL going to get a cup of tea. Plane looking for Heidy.
I hear that low flying plane. Is that one of OURS looking for Hidey??? :-)
If Hidey did fledge, I certainly didn't expect it today!
Our baby has flown the coop..We will miss him. It has been a great experience watching him learn.
GLO---Where is the JEEP LADY---have missed her!

SHE could be branching???
Just heard something near the mike..and a horn toot
So, if Hidey fledged, everybody missed it?
Love those Duke farms eaglets too!
If so, Hidey was outta here at first light Sharon!
Sure would like to know whether he used the launch pad! If he was under the cam, I would think he would have been seen at some point in the last 2 hours!

Paula.. yup... Dukes Farms. One of those Eaglets is a real bully though!! Always showing dominance. But they are certainly growing nicely. I really thought the little gray one (not gray anymore) was not going to survive, and she is thriving nicely now.
If anyone wants to check them out, they are at:

PAULA---Isn't there a tape?
Norma... now that I have gotten "into" this eagle watching, I have learned about what you said... "fighting and pecking", but my first encounter was with Hidey, so now I was spoiled as well as Hidey!!! LOL
She certainly is a spoiled little one. I loved watching her test the waters with her parents over the past few days... pecking at them!
Wanda if you go call someone on your cell that is watching the cam. So that way you can ask them if they are seeing anything.
LAYNIE--excuse the misspell!
Norma - there is a recording, I believe...but not sure how long it runs before it tapes back over!
That nasty hum is back...
LAYNIE---OH YEAH!---She was pushing all the buttons!!---ho!
I am sitting here chuckling at the thought of all of us....staring at our cams....willing something to be seen...a beak, a feather....something!!
Theres a hummer on the left!
Good Morning Everyone that came in since the split.
Yep Laynie is we had three there would be pecking. That is why last season one of the three was called "Pecking Pearl" lol
Hummer gone!
I just saw the stick coming through at 7 o'clock move.
Another little bird on the left....
PAULA!---CHESS & CHOP---the 'BWE EAGLETS' are still checking in---Guess they need some R&R!!! ho!
WHAT IS THAT IN THE BRANCHES AND LEAFS TO THE LEFT? About 9 o'clock there was movement.
Don't know if the bird that was at 10 o'clock was on the other end of the stick.
I hear him, I think
Wonder if Wanda left in her PJ's?
She would be a PJBPM - PJ binocular packing momma!
Anyone think she might be up on the limb above the nest with her parents?----HEY KIDS!---I want her back so bad--I'll believe anything!!
HOW DARE SHE LEAVE & NOT CONSULT THE EAGLEMOMSTERS!!---
WHOA!---If WANDA is 'packin' she may have to appear before 'da judge'!!---
I hear geese again and I also have the hum back in my sound.
Yes I think Hidey could be as I commented before. Up on a branch with parent/s.
I think she changed...wouldn't want to be caught out there in her pj's.
If you didn't read all the comments. Margy is zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's
Oh, I think I am coming down with "bird flew".
PAULA---Do you think this means--that INTELLIGENT BEAUTIFUL CUNNING SNEAKY EAGLET got the last laugh!!---That would be COOL!---She is WAY COOL!!!
I hear a plane did Wanda take the vehicle or a plane?????
I see an empty nest, Hidey, where are you? Have to read the comments.
Tee hee Sharon good one!
Norma - I would say so!!
Wanda maybe took the "hovercraft".
If Hidey did fledge missed Jim's birthday by one day.
If Hidey is still there, she is living up to her name better than ever before.
Now, for you new people, hopefully, if she has fledged, she will be back.
Good morning - I hope - Paula, Sharon, Dana, Norma, Deb:
I'm sure the question of the morning is "WHERE IS HIDEY?"
Paula when we use the "SILVER ALERT" for people. Do we use "Eaglet Alert" for missing eaglet?
Hi Deb Hi Lori.....we sent Wanda to look for Hidey.
Good morning, I've been watching for several weeks. This is interesting. I can't wait to see what has happened to Hidey.
Wasn't Jim the last one to see Hidey? Jim you got that eaglet----give him/her back to us. No Birthday Party tomorrow if you are holding that eaglet riclmbo=rocking in chair laughing my butt off.
Oh Great - God Bless Wanda.
Does anyone think he could have done a little hop & is just sitting on a nearby branch - OR, after his eager behavior yesterday - do you think he has fledged?
Sorry - my newsperson mentality makes me impatient for information.
Just getting up down here in Houston. So Hidey fledged??? She/he was sound asleep in the nest when I went to sleep last night (about midnight your time).
I hope someone has tape!
Yea for my first eaglet!!!!

Did anyone see the show moving at 1 o'clock? Have to look at Sharon's avatar & figure out if there is a branch above that?
Sorry, that should have been did anyone see the SHADOW moving at 1 o'clock?
Hi Becky - My first eaglet too - and what a special one!
Sorry, Sharon you don't have the nest tree avatar. Have to go to my photos from last weekend.
Hidey has been amazing to watch! Is it possible to "love" a wild animal so much? :)
This is addicting. You guys do realize I'll have to follow you around to other nests/wildlife now!
Oh, my....can it be?
Hidey left when we didn't see?
Tho' skyward bound,
Please hang around...
We need our fix,
And we'd like some pix!!
I forgot to thank you guys for the pix from last weekend (I think I saw Paula's?). They (and others before it) really put everything into context with the nest cam.
Maybe on the live video at NCTC..on the tape there. They can find the fledge.
Great poem Hedgie kind of says it all for sure.
Now was that the dog or was that Hidey's puppy sound?

Jo has the nest tree avatar.
Sissy is selling at the flea market this morning. I called her and now she is watching from the flea market.
I need Wanda to report in. I have to go find fleas.
Has anyone heard from Wanda yet? Hope we do-- soon! Inquiring minds want to know...MTBR ;o]
Called Wanda's cell no answer.
No, stronghunter....river can't be seen from nest area.
Lynn and Dana, check your emails.
Probably not a signal at the nest.
Thanks, Sharon. It is a little hard to tell what is in the background.
I was watching last night and saw Hidey lying in the nest about midnight. Like everyone else, I woke up this morning and found an empty nest about 7.
I do hear interesting little sounds now, though.
All 5 Kestrels are still in the box. I hear something by the cam.
Oh Norma, Becky . . . everyone. Hidey did steal our hearts... now will he/she bring it back?
I hope Wanda can call someone from the nest who can transcribe and put it online for all of us.
Hidey - come home!
Now that is one of the white dogs barking. Someone must be at the curve in road. By where the guard lives. We have watched the nest many time from that curve in the road.
I have my sound turned W-A-A-A-Y up, and just heard what sounds like wings hitting the camera. I bet Hidey is doing what Hidey does best-- hiding!
Sharon great signal for cell phones at nest. Remember when I use to go down and called Nilla. She would type on here what I was seeing.
I could do the transcription! :)
I think maybe Wanda just blew her horn?
that's great to know about cell reception, Dana.
Think someone from Eagle Momsters can put out an email once we get some news?
HONK that must be Wanda
I don't think I had a signal there Dana.
God grant me patience but please hurry! :)
Wow, love the poem, Lynn! You're a poet, and I didn't know it! LOL :o]
Maybe only Sprint cell phones. That is what I had and called. When she went there she would call and I would tell her what I was seeing in nest. She would tell me what she was seeing and I would type that here for her. She had Sprint also.
I had a signal on my verizon phone...she probably forgot her phone and camera!
Waiting . . . waiting . . . waiting . . .
I just think if she were still in that nest, that she would be taking full advantage of the wind and doing some wing flapping.
Mine and Thelma's laptops don't have sound but my desktop does. Go figure.
good morning i have been watching four just a few days really neat
Dana and Lynn, did you get my email?
I keep hearing something hitting the camera-- is it a branch, or could it be that Hidey's up there? Would that spot be more sheltered from the wind?
Not sure about the wind Andrea.
No Mrs B it isn't...and usually when they fledge they go out and down...not up!
Not unless eaglet branched above....but we surely would have heard Hidey by now if he was up there...
morning Paula! I'll be at your office crying on Monday if Hidey's gone. :(
Or as Sharon told me we'll all have the Bird Flew
Eagle shadow just now over the nest?
What was that sound?
I just a shadow go by like at 12 o'clock and to the left. Nothing, think it was leaves blowing. Thelma thinks I am crazy and that very well could be. Sharon I got them too put in my phone. If you need I can call or Lynn can let me know.
Dark spot at 10:00 looks interesting. It moves with the wind like something on the branch. I zoomed in on it.
stronghunter you would be seeing some feathers blowing if that was Hidey.
7 more minutes since last heard from Wanda.
It is Saturday today and the nest is quiet. I wonder if the eaglet flew.
ooopps that would make 2 hrs. since her last comment. Now 7 more minutes. last comment from her 8:12.
Wanda is probably out there with her camera but not her phone making us a show LOL.
I wonder, too, Lynn. She never said she was going, but I hope she did go.
I was awake at 5:20 this morning (Sat) and heard a lot of noise. When I looked at the eglet and she was gone..I guess she has taken flight..we will miss her..
If Wanda has a report...I'm sure the Maine forum would appreciate it...I was going to post it on the CHIL forum also...but I'm getting ready to go...
Hope Hidey returns soon. Catch ya'll tomorrow!

"Bird flew"... LOL.. that was a good one!
Norma, Wanda is only about 15 mins. from the nest....
That's what I am hoping, too, Norma, her last comment was something about how that might work. I took that to mean she was going.
Young Kestrels getting feed, that is one crowded box.
Thanks HEDGIE---Just read about your SQUIRREL DAY!---I bet they are cute!!---Well she could have been back---but think she said she hadn't dressed--
Every sound I hear from the cam - I jump! My blood sugar is great this am but can't vouch for my blood pressure!
Well, seek and ye shall find....a squirrel nest is called a drey, and they are about 10 wks. old when they leave the drey...so guess we can say they de-drey!!
