Great photo gallery on the BWO pages, Osprey Cam Gallery - if you haven't already loolked, there are some great close up shots of some of the juveniles....
For all of you to know - here is the intended attendees for the day... Wanda & Gene, Ceil & Jim, Helen, Mary Margaret, Megan, Lynn, Margy, Suzanne, Jo and Randy Robinson & Thelma Flynn will meet us there. Our eagle in Our nest if very alert this am!
I'll mention our Pop Up Cam not working if I see Steve. Lolly, I'll head into the gift shop for your medallions! Almost ready to head over those mountains.
Morning all. A bit cloudy here w/ an early shower...hope it got it out of its system!! Red...you haven't left yet??? Can you make it here in 90 mins.??? LOL! Wish you could join us, along w/ others who can't make it. Almost ready...shutting 'puter down...it will surely appreciate a days rest!!! SEE some soon....talk w/ others much later! Have a great day.
Deb, I bought Corel Paint Shop Pro Ultimate yesterday. Got lots of learning to do. It's improved over the one we use in class with lots more bells and whistles. Can't find some of the stuff we studied about Tuesday.

Jim Thank you for the link on the other thread to Steffs and Dr. Sharpe's pictures and INTERESTING information. Dr. Sharpe said he is going to let the EAGLES try to hatch the eggs this year. He won't be putting "wooden eggs" in the nest and taking the real eggs. "God Bless those EAGLES out there and their first year of the eggs hatching under the parents." This should be very egg-citing!

Ya know it is exciting that Dr Sharpe is going to let them hatch their own this year. and yet there is One Miracle out there that without the help of Dr Sharpe would not have hatched from the West end nest. We woul dhave all been sad instead of Surprised Don't get me wrong I am excited for them and agree it is time to give them a chance. Hoping they are all very successful.
No Sharon not this time...I'll be heading there sometime probably when the eggs hatch. I've been too sick to go. Have an appt. today could have cancelled but I needed to go there instead.
I'm like you Sharon I'm with the BUNNCH IN ALL THEIR HEARTS...now move over a seat someone is squeezing me in at the table LOL LOL
Glad to hear about the egg at PH, Paula. It looked like they would in the morning, but I didn't check it much in the afternoon, and the cable was down last evening....
Weather Channel says sunny and 33 here, but there is not a touch of blue in the sky. The cloud cover is thick, so it isn't like the sun is coming out anytime soon.
Our visitors probably visited a lot over lunch then back to the nest, before heading out for home. It will probably be later today before we get an update and see some pictures.
Certainly is quiet on here! Just tood a nap. May take a while before I catch up on my sleep. LOL I usually do not take naps, but since taking care of the boys, I am sleepy!!
Jack added a mouse to my laptop. I certainly like that better.
My fingers were getting stiff. The mouse is much better. Jack made me a great lap desk some time ago. It is great for the computer and leaves enough room for the mouse.
Well, I can use Sissy's in the car. She has a card that goes into her laptop that connects. It is through her cell phone company, AT&T. Whereever there is cell service, she can get wireless service.
I'm back from my class. Didn't color photos today. Learned how to scan and fix old torn or damaged photos. Can do some really neat things with Print Shop Pro.
I might have to pass by this Nature show on PBS this week!

Good afternoon Eagle Buds. Put a few "More Eagles" on blog. Since I didn't get a swell WV lunch today, I'm off to construct a chicken & veggie roast. BB when it's in the oven! ☺ ☺ ☺
Okay "Both in our Nest" post at 11:49 - We saw that just before we left to go to lunch!
Just returning home now. It was a great visit.... More on all that in a few minutes. At 2:50 pm. Belle, we think, flew from I guess would be west of the nest, all the way over the river and we waited and waited but she never returned....and maybe has not yet !
The weather was perfect: overcast most of the time actually helped with the viewing. We did linger over lunch, Randy Robinson joined us so we exchanged all kinds of information with him, then we hit the gift shop and back out to the nest around 2:30 - - saw Lots and Lots of wonderful blue birds, two different kinds of hawks - a Red-somethinged and something smaller. Sun did come out sometimes, no lap tops but Wanda and Gene and others got quite a lot of pictures ☺
We think we could see that Belle was in the nest, because she sits up higher and we could see her fuzzy head moving from time to time, so maybe it was Liberty that flew off to the river, I think that is what it was...
Randy reported that the school project that Sandy has been working on with Paula, has been turned out and will be test driven by some school systems, maybe in Virginia first, then tweaked for a more universal use, including, probably the four states of WV, VA, PA and Maryland... ☺
Megan was telling me how she can keep one view of the nest open all the time regardless of what else is up on the computer, I MUST get that figured out!
I guess, Paula, that after the Eagle flew to the river and we waited and waited, that the empty nest happened when we were heading back to the Orange Parking Lot...there is NEVER a good time to leave once one is there watching and waiting... The exchange at 11:49 happened just in time though! ☺
Bird in our nest behaving like Liberty? Fluffing the nest while in place...
Deb The big hawk could have been red-tailed or red-shouldered, but it was very high and hard to discern, the other hawk was bigger than a kestrel, but had that kind of short tail, not fanned...trying to look through pictures in bird books now
I sent the magazine before I figured out how to get my scanner working. I sent all the free ones I got away, so I don't have a copy anymore. I am waiting for my subscription to come in the mail.
Home from our great adventure. A good time was had by all. It was fun to be together with our friends, and we talked about many who weren't with us...were your ears burning? It was all good talk!! Our lovely eagles performed a little for us, as Margy has described. Haven't read through rest of blog yet...will catch up later. Downloaded pics from new camera, so need to peruse them. Still need to read today's papers.....and rustle up some dinner. Will check back in later.
I'm sorry I'm so late getting on here...had to make a visit. I can't believe that a group of people can get together and have sooo much fun. Yes, the eagles did put on a bit of a show for us. A fly in and a fly out and 3 hours later...a fly-by. They can't put on too big of a show because they are , after all, EXPECTING:) I have posted a few photos on my Wild and Wonderful. Promise to post some more later. I am slam wore out from talking and laughing so much. Time to settle down for awhile:)
Yep....that eagle express is the greatest:) Many thanks to Wanda and Gene for driving us around NCTC. Went back outside to see the moon Margy mentioned, it is a beautiful crescent- think that is Venus up above it.
Yes, the Captain and First Mate got some swell photos ☺
I hope some of you all can see that exquisite sliver of a moon before it sets, which will happen very soon! Hope the skies are clear Friday, it will be deliciously close to Venus!
What a beautiful day - Perfect! And I am sure many more are to come! I followed the Eagle Express onto NCTC grounds this morning. Guard visited inside with Gene & Wanda and then as I pulled up with license in hand and ready to pop the trunk the guard says "Well I think I know you by now! Have a good one!" I got a chuckle out of that one. The young deer (on Wanda's pics) welcomed us into the Orange parking lot and the fun began!
hi ya:), got home around 6:30p.m., accident tying up things on 270 south, so took me 2 hours to get home, told hubby to bring something in to eat, thank you Wanda and Gene for the Eagle Express, yes, Mr Happy was the guard on duty today, we should have given him the chocolate peeps, so he would have a sugar high, weather was extremely pleasant today
02/26/09: For those who feed suet to birds, there has been a recall of certain types of suet that may contain peanut meal from the Peanut Corp. of America’s plant in Georgia.
Yes, Jo, once we got to the parking area and was greeted by that beautiful deer, all the other Momsters and Dadsters (Jim, Ceil's hubby and Gene) followed suit. We didn't stop talking and laughing and having fun until we parted around 4pm. Have not known such wonderful people and had so much fun since I was a teenager. So glad Suz was able to take off from work and join us, she is a dear:)
Mits - glad you are back in your roost, sorry there was a traffic delay.... Paula was wondering about the CC TV in the Admin building, thanks to short term memory and too much excitement I forgot the report about that...
someone made a beautiful quilt for the panda keepers at Atlanta....
Thursday, February 26 Every once in a while, one of our giant panda fans truly goes the extra mile to show their love for and dedication to our favorite black-and-white royalty. On February 16, longtime panda fan Cherie Goodwin of Massachusetts presented Zoo Atlanta’s Carnivore Department with a gorgeous handmade quilt inspired by spectacular photos of – guess who – our very own Xi Lan, Mei Lan, Lun Lun and Yang Yang. Ms. Goodwin also brought a toy ball for Xi Lan and gifts for his keepers. (But we all know that getting to watch Xi Lan play with his new ball will be a gift in itself!)
On behalf of your panda friends in Atlanta, thank you, Cherie, for the beautiful work of your hands and your heart!
Wanda had fresh coffee brewing for us and Megan brought the coffee cakes! Wanda also had oatmeal pies for all. Steve found us as we entered the commons bldg. At lunch Randy Robinson came and sat with us. Sandy couldn't get off of work and make it over.
No one has told on me but as I was in the loo - the morning switch at the nest started to take place! I came out just in time to see both up at the nest. And then around 4:00 when we were waiting and hoping for another switch or at least a return of our eagle from the river - These Momsters had the nerve to tell me to 'Go To The Loo, Jo!'
Remember that June will probably be the next nest visit - just before they fledge. They say that open house is always the 3rd weekend in October.. Let's plan ahead.

RED -- Are you taking the trip?
Just checked my notes YES they did hatch their own at SR.
They had two and hatched one at SR.
I still have a lot of papers left. Showing eggs need to be laid for Eagles Nest. WHOPPPEE more eggs to come.
Then their are Osprey yet...don't have all the papers for those. I think I gave up with me getting sick on keeping papers for Osprey.
bb
FINNY NEST---Is just a MESS this am!---SNOW COVERED early this am!!
DANA!---Think about it!---He is not called "DR. SHARPE" for nothing!!----ho!----He truly knows all----

Can't tell anything NORMA by looking at the our cam. Don't see anybody with a RED DRESS on...or Margie holding up MULTI-COLORED BANNER !! lol

Yummy....I just got my Girl Scout cookied today!!
Paula, I thought you were going to the nest?! Guess not!
I have been to the dentist today. More fun! I think I can think of much better ways to spend money.
Anyway, home now and will do some cam watching! Seems like I have been away forever!
Make that cookies!
Have to get payroll done, Lolly. It's not a day I can take off.
Current nest conditions...

Still looks overcast to me.....don't see any bright sunshine...
There's some sun now... :)
You're right, Paula. No shadows to show bright sunlight.
Up to 83 here and bright sunshine. To warm! Supposed to get cooler this weekend.
BBL...
I am falling asleep sitting here. Think I will go eat a bite and take a Panda nap!
I hope Lynn's new camera is working out for her!
Certainly is quiet on here! Just tood a nap. May take a while before I catch up on my sleep. LOL I usually do not take naps, but since taking care of the boys, I am sleepy!!
Jack added a mouse to my laptop. I certainly like that better.
Lolly, I hate using my laptop without a mouse attached. I don't do well with the mousepad.
The same with me, one of the first things I did after I got my laptop was to get a mouse.
Maine 2 keeps going in and out, both sound and picture. Can hear an eagle occasioally cry. Sounds like it is sitting on the cam! I wonder???
My fingers were getting stiff. The mouse is much better. Jack made me a great lap desk some time ago. It is great for the computer and leaves enough room for the mouse.
Wow, check out the Y branch at Maine 1, it is back where it belongs.
Sharon, the other day you were using your laptop while traveling. What do you need to do that?
Hope Lynn gets her laptop going.
LW is back up, they have snow in the nest.
Using my laptop like while I was at the hospital?
I just realized that I can not watch both Maine cams at the same time.
No, I thought you were using it while actually in the car.
Okay, cool! We have AT&T. Will check that out. Thanks!
eagle in LW!
Red, that sounds like a good thing to learn. How many more classes do you have?
Got to LW for a few seconds of viewing....then poof!!
Lolly, you generally have to pay extra for roaming wireless for your laptop, unless you just go with wifi spots...I know you have to w/ Verizon...
I might have to pass by this Nature show on PBS this week!
True Adventures of the Ultimate Spider-HunterThey can run, and they can try to hide, but no spider can escape the tireless pursuit of Martin Nicholas, as he proves in True Adventures of the Ultimate Spider-Hunter. Join spider expert Martin Nicholas, a mild-mannered water treatment engineer by day, as he tours the world in search of some of the most amazing arachnids.
Two more weeks Deb.
I'll pass, too, Paula.
Eggs were visible in BWE when I started typing.
MT nest!!
Eagle is back...
Eggs are covered.
The party broke up around 4 - and of course the good-byes took awhile, but all should be approaching their respective roosts at this hour.
Paula: OUR nest was empty? Well then I guess maybe a switch DID take place....
Nice pictures, Loretta.
We are glad you got to see the eagles flying and got to see both in the nest, Margy and nest visitors!
The weather was perfect: overcast most of the time actually helped with the viewing.
We did linger over lunch, Randy Robinson joined us so we exchanged all kinds of information with him, then we hit the gift shop and back out to the nest around 2:30 - -
saw Lots and Lots of wonderful blue birds, two different kinds of hawks - a Red-somethinged and something smaller.

We think we could see that Belle was in the nest, because she sits up higher and we could see her fuzzy head moving from time to time, so maybe it was Liberty that flew off to the river, I think that is what it was...
We were hoping that we would come and find a post about Two Eagles in the Nest....at 11:49 as Sharon noted....☺ We were happy nesters!
A red-shouldered hawk, maybe??
Red-tailed hawk in Portland has been busy this afternoon.
Randy reported that the school project that Sandy has been working on with Paula, has been turned out and will be test driven by some school systems, maybe in Virginia first, then tweaked for a more universal use, including, probably the four states of WV, VA, PA and Maryland...
☺
Margie - MT nest - that was at 4:41 not 3:50
Was just looking at Loretta's nice new photos and missed some action at our nest, didn't I
IDK Margy, wasn't watching...maybe an egg roll...
There was an egg roll.
Egg roll in BWE.
Margy, sounds like a great time. Glad ya'll got to see an exchange....wasn't sure it was gonna happen, cause there was one a little earlier than that.
Did ya'll get to see the live feed at NCTC?
Megan was telling me how she can keep one view of the nest open all the time regardless of what else is up on the computer, I MUST get that figured out!
I guess, Paula, that after the Eagle flew to the river and we waited and waited, that the empty nest happened when we were heading back to the Orange Parking Lot...there is NEVER a good time to leave once one is there watching and waiting...

Deb The big hawk could have been red-tailed or red-shouldered, but it was very high and hard to discern, the other hawk was bigger than a kestrel, but had that kind of short tail, not fanned...trying to look through pictures in bird books now
We also did meet and talk with Steve briefly before lunch, he gave us some tips on checking for job opportunities there!
Also, there were lots of young men and women there taking fire training, like Smoke Jumpers maybe
Hope you all saw that there was a Blue Heron at BWO Wednesday, it is in the gallery with other Great Photos from the last few weeks!
Deb We loved seeing your magazine, showed Steve - but Hey! You forgot to sign it! ☺
Also, Jo is now the happy owner of one framed South Dakota Eagle - which IS signed... ☺
Hi Margy! Glad ya'll had a great visit!
See ya later!
Ha! We all had to show picture IDs at the gate, and the Eagle Express got boarded by the Security Guard, and was "thoroughly inspected" ☺
I sent the magazine before I figured out how to get my scanner working. I sent all the free ones I got away, so I don't have a copy anymore. I am waiting for my subscription to come in the mail.
I am glad Jo liked the picture.
Ooops missed your question Paula, I did not see the closed circuit, but the Ceil and MM might have seen it....they went down to that building first.
Thanks Lolly and all, but of course it would have so much greater of more of you could have been with us!
I'm going to leave some room now for others to make some posts...
☺ sorry sometimes, I can't help myself with I get to chattering!
Three eggs visible at Colo Eagle cam

Still need to read today's papers.....and rustle up some dinner. Will check back in later.
Did we just have a switch in the nest? Missed it...
Switch and an Egg Roll our nest, still is ahead of the live
Belle has reclaimed her spot
Belle was huge on there, I missed part of it, the fly in and fly out :(
I walked by the computer and saw her on back of nest-she did look huge.
Deb got a nice empty nest picture from this morning arounmd 0930 posted on the Momsters album....
Newborn moon in the southwest - very nice !
Another egg roll in BWE.
I just took the garbage out and it is COLD, I don't like this time of year, 60's one day, 10 the next. Windchill is -11, yuck!
I'm sorry I'm so late getting on here...had to make a visit.
I can't believe that a group of people can get together and have sooo much fun. Yes, the eagles did put on a bit of a show for us. A fly in and a fly out and 3 hours later...a fly-by. They can't put on too big of a show because they are , after all, EXPECTING:)
I have posted a few photos on my Wild and Wonderful. Promise to post some more later. I am slam wore out from talking and laughing so much. Time to settle down for awhile:)
Egg roll, our nest.
Wanda - you need never apologize for doing the things you need to do !!
Thank you and Gene so much for gathering us up in the Eagle Express, and capturing all those fine shots of people and Nature ☺
I loved the pictures so far, can't wait to see some more!
Yes that is very correct...Megan...Venus, the Planet of L♥ve...☺
And a Big Round of Applause to Mema Jo for making all the arrangements and to NCTC for granting us Eagle Watching Passes ☺
IMPORATANT MESSAGE FROM LISA ON BWO SITE.....
Nest Update
02/26/09:
For those who feed suet to birds, there has been a recall of certain types of suet that may contain peanut meal from the Peanut Corp. of America’s plant in Georgia.
BTW, went to the ladies room in admin bldg, before we left, closed circuit TV was working great, with sound:)
Deb
That new avatar of the Waxwing is exquisite !!
Mits - glad you are back in your roost, sorry there was a traffic delay....
Paula was wondering about the CC TV in the Admin building, thanks to short term memory and too much excitement I forgot the report about that...
Salmonella - what a nasty organism! Heard that their plants in Texas AND Georgia were infected.
next trip for BRS......
Robinson, IL - Plainfield, IN - Akron, OH (351 Miles)
I'm back for a sec...
Sounds like a great day at the nest!!! Gotta check pics later.
Buzzer went off---din din should be done ☺
looks like the still cams up in Maine are working again.
someone made a beautiful quilt for the panda keepers at Atlanta....
Thursday, February 26
Every once in a while, one of our giant panda fans truly goes the extra mile to show their love for and dedication to our favorite black-and-white royalty.
I saw the sliver of the moon & Venus!
And then around 4:00 when we were waiting and hoping for another switch or at least a return of our eagle from the river - These Momsters had the nerve to tell me to 'Go To The
Loo, Jo!'
Remember that June will probably be the next nest visit - just before they fledge. They say that open house is always the 3rd weekend in October.. Let's
plan ahead.
Did Steve say anything about the live feed?
All that fresh air today is putting me under! The weather could not have
accommodated us any more perfectly!
