Good morning! Thank you Steve!
Good morning, all! She(?) is really building up the egg cup. Do you think a 3rd egg is iminent?
Not sure how I want to vote on that 3rd egg. Been successful in the past years and they are wonderful parents!
Just quickly saying good morning from work. Will turn on cam and get my paperwork done while I drink some hot tea. It is so-o-o-o--o-o cold out there again.
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!---THIS MORNING---NPR had a lead story about our BEAUTIFUL EAGLES ---BELLE & LIBERTY!---described our nest location at NCTC---& cam---we now have sight & sound----This is our 5th year--we have 2 eggs now--Stated the eggs are laid 3 days apart & we are expecting another egg---usually lay 3 eggs!----Described how these programs will be available for use in the classroom, etc.----PAULA can describe what they are planning & how they plan to use these programs in our schools!!!
Thanks STEVEN!---MORNIN' VICKY---HARBINGERDC---& GLO!!!----Today is study group!--Will check in when I can!!---Running late this am!----Still have a screwed up email program---later!!
Norma - I think you are already gone, but I heard that same story, it was nicely done! I thought of you and figureed you were probably listening ! ☺They interviewed Jay Schlack of Fish and Wildlife and did talk about the upcoming program to include school curriculum regarding the study of Eagles. Did not mention Sandy Burk's name. Paula I will try to find a link to the story, would be on WBPUBCAST.ORG I think will have to research it a little.
Hi Just Vicky, Glo, Harbingerdc, Red and Megan from other thread..hope I didn't miss anyone... Justy Vicky, like your new soaring avatar.. Glo, Loved the new pictures! Those deer trudging in the snow, are awesome !
Lone hen at Pix PA...hope she didn't get lost from the flock and spend the night alone at the site...
Good morning; I got called in to help atschool,so here i am.The temp.is7 with some light wind and thatmakes it cooooooold out. BBLIndiana Nesting Eagles----Dave
Paula Paula, that seems to be the link and I see other stories that were covered, including the one about White-Nose Bat Syndrome, but cannot find the FWS story yet, still looking...
Hi Indiana Dave... Can you take pictures when you are out helping at the school?
I went to the NPR web site and couldn't find the story.
Howdy all:) I looked around when Norma mentioned it, but I don't see the story either. Maybe they haven't posted it yet.
Morning all from still snowy PAGlad to see the nest so full of fluff and EGGSI was reading part of yesterday's blog and wanted to report that I have been getting those car warranty calls on my cell phone nearly everyday for months. Always from a different phone number. Glad I am not alone.Lolly I love your yard with gazebo and garden. Just the right size to manage and still enjoy.
I just cruised the site too, maybe you're right Megan it isn't updated yet, but most of the other stories were listed, I sent them an email asking for a link to the story....How about that White-nose Bat Syndrome story?
I think I missed OUR EAGLE changing its position in our nest, did I miss seeing the eggs?
That bat story is scary...
People across the country are reporting telephone calls coming from the numbers 623-238-6228 and 408-587-2116. These calls claim that your car warranty is expiring, but they are really scam artists trying to steal your personal information and identity. Other numbers generating these spam identity theft calls include 202-552-1332, 702-520-1105, 609-948-0971 and 562-289-8136.The calls always say roughly the same thing (often leaving automated voicemail), along the lines of:“Your car warranty is expiring. We have notified you several times by mail.”Sometimes, instead of an expired warranty, they will also offer debt consolidation or refinance loans. In any case, they are after your financial information, and your money. These calls are illegal, probably under both the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), and the Federal anti-spam law, CAN-SPAM. You can report these calls to the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) - and file a complaint with the FCC at http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/complaints.html.
Morning everyone....thanks for the call over Vicky and the new thread Steve.
Sure is, Megan, glad it does not pose a threat to humans, EXCEPT, fewer bats means a whole lot more INSECTS ! :(
I spent a lot of time with WV Public Radio over the last two days. ☺
☺ Hi MITS ☺
Thanks for the protection info, Megan....most of the calls I have been getting about warranty start out as a computerized voice so I just hang up...
hi ya, Margy...BRS is riding into the sunrise
grannyblt: seen anything cool these days?
that's how mine start, Margy, would just hang up and not push button to talk to anyone...then last 2 times pushed button to tell them no thanks, and still get calls, maybe I ought to talk to Frank.
I am half dressed!---But MARGY---WVNPR had both stories on this am!!----The white nosed bats & the story from NCTC in re: THE EAGLES!!
eagle laying in nest at NBG
MARGY---The stories were on WV NPR----Is that the NPR station you are tuned to?---
Gotcha Norma, we are checking the site waiting for that story to appear, I emailed Steve about it, and emailed WV NPR asking for the link. It is fun to think we are Seeing and Hearing the same things sometimes. ☺ Have a Great Morning !Hurry Back ! But don't go out Half-Dressed, that story might make the news also ! ♥
Eagle at NBG has been there for a while, that cam really makes me queasy when the wind is blowing. I got a weak tummy....
Then it must have been a local story. Our NPR station airs a lot of local stories - they have a large local reporting team.
...well, then I am not going to Norfolk this morning, Megan... waiting on some action at Maine..
NEST WEATHER........TodayCloudy with a 40 percent chance of snow showers. Highs in the lower 30s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.» ZIP Code Detail TonightMostly cloudy. Lows around 15. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. ThursdayMostly sunny. Highs in the upper 20s. West winds 10 to 15 mph. AMEN;)
That's right, Norma...listen to it as often as I can! It always reminds me of you!Michael Feldman on Sat and Car Talk on Sunday crack me up ! Harbinberdc: I agree, many stories the same, some different due to locale... ☺
hmmm, perhaps she is incubating at NBG, might be why they have her in closeup.
both eagles at NBG, walking ever so slowly round the nest
2nd eagle just arrived at NBG, looks like with food.
Well, I can't type, make that Harbingerdc sorry...☺
Sounds breezy and wintry at the nest, MITS
I'm surmising no egg yet at NBG, eagle took off, big momma eating
Oh no, zoomed in at NBG, don't look if you love George...he's breakfast....
yikes..good close up of food at NBG
That's ok, Magpie.Which site is NBG?
big big fish at NBG
Norfolk Botanical garden-NBG
my bad, thought it looked like a fish:(
I think it was a squirrel, I've been wrong before..
ah, nature, raw and uncut at NBG
no, think you are correct, Megan...think I saw his beady littl eyes on part of the head that is left.
Yeah, when they first zoomed in you could see the squirrel body. Funny, the gore doesn't bother me so much, but the movement is really bothering me, gotta take a break from that cam for a little.
neither seems to bother me...
cam frozen at NBG
guess all you have to do is refresh and NBG comes back
our eagle is moving
Good view of the eggs!
hmmm, I still see an eagle there, Margy
short and sweet
I saw eagle that was on eggs fly out, and other fly in and sit on eggs.
how low can she go!
EAGLE laying in nest at OK
Well, I better do some work. :)Back later...
OK could be laying on an egg, looks real comfortable
turning eggs NCTC
Good morning everyone!
Balmy 8° in Bluefield and lots of snow.
Mits, Do you think an Eagle makes a sound like a chicken when it lays an egg? I wish the sound was working. I'd like to here that>>Hi everyone, I have been reading back and see that there is not another egg yet. Maybe today will be the day.
hello, Sharon.....eagle up at OK, don't see an egg, but it was pulling its feathers out of the chest area, so maybe an egg is imminent:)
BRS is stopped at a rest stop
Morning to Everyone in Eagleland!Just checking be4 I get to work.We had snow for a few hours--think it quit now, but COLD, so covered grass.Don't see any in the nest, only thing white are the eggs! ☺
Donnie, I sure do think it makes a loud noise when that big old egg comes out of her:)
Guess BRS got tired of sun in his face. Has stopped at a truck stop. He's in Nebraska now.
P.S. I would guess there will be 3 eggs, as Puala noticed there was HP going on in one of yesterday's pics I posted! Love is in the air!♥ ♥ ♥
think I would be happy with 2, but she seems to be a 3 egg momma:)
I know the chickens let you know it's done. That would have to hurt. Now that I'm thinking about it... the chickens lay every day. The eagle 2 or 3 a year. Whow... whata surprise.
yeah, Donnie tell some of us ladies about it...lol!
EAGLE UP IN MAINE....eating
could be another George:(
MT nest at HH osprey site, but they brought in a pine cone
BRS, back on the road again
Fly in- our nest-then my cam froze-#@#$$$%- did it bring fluff.
Switching- there goes one, Still see 2 beautiful eggs.
Morning all! Sunny, chilly start to the day. Did have some early flurries. How much snow in Bluefield, S&S??Norma, guess you are already gone...did you get any?Margy, hope you are feeling well! HEard a call earlier that a lady on the other road in my development fell on ice and broke her leg. This was just when I was hiking out to get the papers...sure glad it wasn't me! Think I would be smart to put my cell phone in my pocket when I go out like that.
eagle calls in Maine, trying to do nestorations in the snow
Deb, Love your Lib and Belle pic gracing the front page of our blog
good idea, Lynn
Wow Norma, I wonder if a transcript of NPR is available about our eagles?
There was a segment on the news last night about those irritating car warranty calls...they are illegal!!
Hey Paula and Lynn:)Hadn't even noticed that, Paula, that is a great picture of Lib and Belle. Deb's pics should be apppearing everywhere, they are really beautiful.
sunrise at LW
so if they are sending an automated message how do you get them to stop, did they say?
Lynn, I can identify with the fall. I fell last night trying to get Hairy out of my hateful neighbor's yard. Bounced my chin off the ground and hurt my knee.
They said you should report the number to the FTC and those do not call list people. Didn't say on how to get the automated calls to stop.
We kept getting that on one of our phones here at work...it finally stopped....but is there anyway to talk to a person? Then you can tell them that you are on the do not call list...and are reporting them.
Mits, the report was on NBC4 last night...maybe you can check out the article there...
I never press the button to talk to them
okie dokie, Paula, thanks
That's what I did last night, reported to those two places..
Magpie - you can preview your post and test your link before you actually post it!
BTW, automated calls to cell phones are illegal...I do remember that from last night.
Let me try this again: WV PUB Radio Eagle Story
Okay that's a go, let me delete the other one...☺I'll send it to Steve... ☺
Good Morning everyone..I really slept in...got up earlier and went back to sleep.I shut my 'puter down completely overnight and now I can't get the Live Feed up...still cam is OK. Anyone else having that problem?Margy, feeling better this morning?
I'm not getting them on my cell phone.
My live feed is up..don't know if the sound is back on yet or not, though.
Wll I can't get the sound to play but this will get you started.Sorry...still playing around with it.
You can see the snow at BWO...and a touch at BWE
If you Google auto warranty scam calls, there are stories about these calls occuring all over the country lately. Many articles have links to the agencies to report the phone numbers to. It is illegal to call a cell phone, and they are scammers, guy last night wouldn't even tell me what company he represented. Aad when you look up the number or try to call it, it's not a legitimate number, and they are phone #'s from all over the country.
I'm not getting any sound on mine.
If you get them on your home phone and you are on the Do Not Call list, then you can report the number for breaking that law.
my live feed is on, but still no sound
Nope, no sound on cam, here. Still having freezing issues...
I'm on so many do not call lists....nobody calls me except these people:(
when my cam moves it is like slow-motion
OH Wahoo ! I did get the Audio ! ☺ Hi Wanda, Hedgie, and all the others coming on this morning Yes, feeling somewhat better, something is still lingering... Thanks !
good morning all, its startimng to get light here. Little Brandon is getting ready for school. We had a sleep over last night. We have been watching the nest this morning and he doesnt understand how it is light there and dark here. I will try explaining again when he is more awake.
I have not seen live cam forever. Its a blank page . Still picture is fine. Off to make him breakfast. bbl
It didn't seem as though the sound was going to come on, it went to a funny looking screen with no pictures, but a place where I could hit the play button. At least if no audio, you can read the story.I did sent the info to Steve, but he probably already knows all about it. Would have been great to have HIM be the one interviewed ! I've got to move away from the computer, need to get some things in the mail, including something to the Friends of NCTC ☺ ♥I went to school with Donna, and have to add a little note with the card.. xo Good Day Wishes to All xox ☺
Hi Anne-Marie ! Ah, a sleepover, magical times!Grandson would always like to say "It's the Morning" and "It's the Day" (usually before I was quite ready for it...☺ ) Hedgie: Yes, take that phone with you wherever you go ! Please!
( Paula, I do usually try to test drive the link, but I guess I was too excited when I saw the article pop up ! )
Good Morning all, and thanks Steve. Oh how wonderful it is to say Thank You Steve after all these months of absence I have had. Glo I kept up with For the Love of Eagles. Thanks for all the times I never told you. Norma Bird it's your Mauley this morning.Hi Just Vick and Harbingerdc Megan and all. So much snow here and cold they dismissed faculty and students from the college and here I am home. Watching eagles and sharing moments with friends. God Bless you all today. I have a few errands to run. Blessings Mauley
Hi mits, remember when I typed Hit Mits and Jo took up for you. Hi Sis, Hi all. donna
ROFLMBO....I remember that, Donna:)
Hi Paula, do we not get morning updates from Suzanne? Hi Margy again
Morning, everyone. It is a beautiful sunny day today, headed to the 30's. I listened to the NPR story, thanks for posting it, Margy.
**GOOD MORNING****EVERYBOdY**Are we still holding at 2 eggs?? Or 3 now??C(°ٿ°)DJim
Mauley, Suzanne isn't allowed to get on the blog from work now:(Hey Jim and Deb:)Still two eggs..
Eagle on eggs just flew out of nest.
Eagle back and onto eggs.
Sharon, hope your injuries aren't bad. Didn't pull your tummy, did you???? Was this one of the middle-of-the-night forays for the dog???Concernig those stupid warranty calls...I also get a lot of mailings w/ dire warnings of expiration....since I never keep a vehicle past the manufacturer's warranty time/miles, and have never bought a warranty policy, I just laugh and pitch...but think I may just put their stuff back in their postage paid envelope and mail it back w/out my name on anything!!
Juvie is at BWO
Oh, cool, Deb. thanks- did you see Lisa's note on BWO-02/03/09:We had a sudden influx of young bald eagles today. The 1st was the youngest of the group, then the 2nd bird had a bit of black on its head and looked close to being an adult. And the 3rd bird was about 3 years old and looked like an osprey.
Wonderful - 2 eggs - way to go Lib & Belle! Are you going for 3? We're all hoping!
Margy, thanks for finding the NPR program....sound but not video played.
Now 2 juvies!
I did see that, Megan. I saw the one she said looked like an osprey.
2 our nest...looks like Belle is eating..Jo, I do still see the white feather patch on her right wing as she now faces the cameraAnd looks like she is gone....cam still freezing here....
Good late chilly morning to you all!I just returned from seeing Dracula!I have just started emails and blog comments. Boy 2-3 hrs with you all on here makes for lots of comments. Took forever for my Live Feed to come on -WE MUST BE #1 VIEWED FOR TODAY!
Snow is really melting quick at BWO
Lynn, there won't be a video, just audio and the text...sorry if I mis-stated that....Lots of new folks jumped on while I am getting ready to head out, just saw the Eagle Switch OUR Nest.Welcome back again Donna!Hi Carol, Deb, Jim, Wanda...and Everyone else ! TTFN xo ☺
2 at BWO - juvies....unless that's what Deb was saying...I just saw the second one on the left!
Howdy, Jo:} Hope dracula didn't get all your blood..you should've taken garlic with ya.We've been the #1 cam on Beakspeak for the last 8 days...course we already knew this was the #1 nest.
NPR article was good, but, of course, we all know that Egg #2 was Monday, not Tues!!
Going to get ready for hair apptmt. See you all this later this afternoon.
BRS is behind bars. Now how did the truck get there?
Hmmm think that's Belle in the nest. Whichever one left had the white patch on the right wing...
I don't see any bars, Red, thought you meant he got arrested?
I think he is in the Kearney/Grand Island part of NE, according to the yellow pin. At least that is where he was when he last updated his location.
mine shows him behind a grid of some sort.
LOL Megan I forgot to google garlic last night!! Juvies have invaded BlackWater!Still over finishes emails then I need to read.. So glad to have these avatarsto recognize everyone.
I thought the same thing, Helen.
oops updated mine and got rid of the grid. Sorry.
I have him at a truck stop of some sort.
He is on the move, maybe we can see where he is.
Wish I had screen captured his cam. Mine showed him behind a grid of some type. Refreshed and he in a parking lot now.
BRS is ON THE MOVE AGAIN !
me too, thought for a minute we would have to bail him out:)
he is on the move again...
Can't read signs Not that he going too fast - They just blur BUT I thought I saw the SINCLAIR gas station sign!
Being a trucker is about the next best thing to being a FREE BIRD
how much was the gas...all our gas around he is over 2 dollars again...grrrr.
WHOA Catch up with that BUD LITE
What did that sign say----
I think he just left North Platte, NE. All those bridges in a row.
If he goes under a great big arch across I80 he is at Kearney, NE.
well I'm all dressed for my zoo shift, I feel like Ralph's brother...."I can't move my arms!!!!!"
I give up on guessing where he is, don't recognize anything.
BRS is, was, in Kearney, Ne. That is the home of JESSIE JAMES. Look out Steve! I have a piece of bark from the HANGING TREE on the James property. I am a collector of very weird objects:)
Hope you can walk, Helen:)
Map shows him outside of Lincoln NEIt is interesting to note that if you click on the Larger Map Picture (Under the reg. map) you can get a lot of infofrom Steve (But I'm not the one to understand it)
I think BRS is closer to Lincoln. His last pin was over 2 hours ago.
MITS - Just waddle waddle OR wiggle wiggle!!!
I didn't know you could zoom in, so now we know he is just east of Grand Island headed towards Lincoln. He will be about 4 hours south of me at Lincoln.
Now he has a new pin closer to Lincoln. He's playing games with us. lol
Yes you can zoom in and also select satellite shot. I sometimes select satellite shot and zoom in to the truck stop he's at. lol
You can zoom to your house in most loactions. Sometimes the graphics are not high resolution though.
Capt. Eagle just told me, NO, NO, Kearney, Ks. is the homeplace of JESSIE JAMES. I am NOT a very good co-pilot;)
I didn't think that sounded familiar. I lived in Kearney, NE, for four long years. (I didn't like it there).
Red, we can zoom in on my Mom's house in the Spring and see her spinach patch! Can't see much of our place because of the trees. We have a lot of evergreens. That feature of the computer maps program is awesome!
Gene is VERY interested in WILD WEST history and when we first went across the country, the one place he was most interested in seeing was the homeplace of Jessie James. He was extremely disappointed in the set-up there. Anything that was worth seeing was fenced in and you had to go through the gift shop to get to anything and there was a fee, quite high as I recall. We were told the JJ tombstone was in a glass case. We wanted to get a rubbing off of it. No can do! They wouldn't even let us buy a souvenier without paying to get in the gift shop. Needless to say, we left without a souvenier (except for my pice of bark from the Hanging Tree) My Mom said I was going to be arrested and my Dad says "take all you want, I'll pay your fine"!
Remember to check out the Asia Trail after 1:00 & see if we can find ourbundled-up guide named Helen
That is a great story Wanda! I still have bark from our Sycamore tree
Eagle in OK nest.
Now both eagles in OK.
Looking at the eggs- our nest-freezing is making me crazy- now back on them
I've been away too long! I have no clue what you all are talking about...tracking BRS?? Have any of you "google mapped" a big city like NYC and gotten down to the street level where you can see people and cars on the street and actually move down a street, like 5th Avenue? If not get a google map of NYC and select "Satellite" view. Then zoom in some and move that little yellow person figure on the left to a street - and Voila - it's like you are standing there looking at cars, buildings and everything at the place. You can move yourself down the street by clicking on the arrow in the street or you can look all around where you are. You can look down on the street or up to the top of the buildings. It's really cool.
Carol - BRS is Big Rig Steve...has a cam in his tractor trailer...goes across country
Thanks, Paula. Do you know the link to get to his cam?
Good afternoon! Have been lurking this morning. Jack called this morning, so I have started my day out right!Wanda.....are you still having trouble getting the live video? You really have to wait a long time for it to come up.Wish they would turn the sound back on!!!!!!!!
Thanks, Deb - I'm truckin' with him!
Split is coming.
