Tuesday PM

Been one of those days thread.

I'm told we will have a new web address for the cam tomorrow. The guys have been working the kinks out of the system and this is part of that process. More when they send me the info.

Thanks for the update, Steve. That is certainly good news!!

paula eagleholic said...

Costume Lady said...

Hi, Glo, thank you steve for that report. Hope we can get sound back before our little ones hatch.

paula eagleholic said...

I put Norfolk Pic on EM blog!

Steve Chase said...

the sound should come back on with these improvements. We switched it off because of the bandwidth issues that you have all seen.

Red said...

Paula, I think Jo is talking about the update date thats shown below the live cam view.

Red said...

Thanks Steve for the new thread.

floralgirl said...

Thanks Steve:)

paula eagleholic said...

BTW, that Feb 10th date below the live cam means the last day a change was made to the webpage.

paula eagleholic said...

Boy Norfolk Mom really throws herself on that egg, doesn't she!

Egg roll our nest.

paula eagleholic said...

Thanks, Steve. Looking forward to having the sound back!

Thanks Steve and we'll await more info!

Mema Jo said...

Awesome pic on your blog Paula
Wow! That is really good.

Costume Lady said...

I guess it must be the positioning of the camera, but NBG egg looks hugh, compared to Belle's.

Mema Jo said...

Going to hear the wind and the crunchies
and the wing flapping again! And also our eagle voices!
YEAH the dogs, geese and trains!

AWESOME!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Wow, I hope it makes everything work better.

YEAH NORFOLK!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

My IE keeps freezing up and driving me nuts!

It is wonderful to be draNO!!!!!

paula eagleholic said...

Wanda - I think our eggs look large enough! They are the size of a tennis ball, just in an egg shape! :)

deb said...

Congrats to Norfolk, get off that egg so I can see it!

I am glad you are now draNO, too, Sharon.

Mits said...

BOOYAH FOR NBG:)!!!!!

Mits said...

great pic, Paula, already sent it to Suz, so she sees it first thing tomorrow.

deb said...

We had a nice walk, too bad the #$@#$ wind is blowing, but this is SD. I saw a Bluebird today!! Also saw flocks of geese winging their way into the area. A lot of the river is still frozen, but lots more open water than there has been.

Mits said...

cute shot of eagle now at NBG, she looks so content.

Mits said...

there is the egg at NBG

deb said...

It looks like she is looking down at the egg, MOVING NOW. There it is!

Mits said...

lol.....she does throw herself down onto the egg.....PLOP!!!!!

Mits said...

Glad you had a nice walk, Deb....Wanda says the wind is coming our way.

T-Bird said...

thanks Steve-I can't wait for the sound

deb said...

The wind was horrible yesterday, sustained at 30, not sure what the gusts were. Today not so bad, 15 with gusts in the 20's, but it is cool to walk into it. We headed back into the trees instead of walking by the water.

Your forecast sounds worse.

Mits said...

Accu Weather Warning.....for Thursday........

High wind occurring on Feb 12. Maximum sustained 27 mph (maximum gust 42 mph).

floralgirl said...

Thursday
Partly sunny and windy. Highs in the lower 50s. West winds 25 to 30 mph with gusts to 55 mph.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Mits said...

paula eagleholic said...

They're catching on, Mits ;)

paula eagleholic said...

Look at Belle - she is laying picture perfect.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

She is always picture perfect, even when doing a poop shoot!

Mits said...

nice night lights at the new Maine nest.

floralgirl said...

Dad has just arrived at NBG!

floralgirl said...

He didn't stay long, practically sat on females head, then flew out.

Mits said...

Good thing I refreshed the stupid cam, was wondering why it was not getting dark....

deb said...

I was just checking out Judy from the Maine Forum's egglist and the next new nest we should see an egg in is West End. That is assuming the eagles follow last year, so far that hasn't worked out too well. :)

deb said...

Eagle in LW.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

My post disappeared into no man's land. Gonna get a shower and go out for a bit. See ya'll later!

deb said...

Gone already at LW.

Mema Jo said...

Mits said...

just one now, may have switched

Mits said...

thanks, Deb for the updates.....

Mits said...

eagle mantling at OK, looks like some lightning,,,there was a tornado vortex, to the northwest of Stillwater.

deb said...

I have been searching Google maps and Sooner Lake is directly north of Stillwater, about 20 miles, in case you haven't already done the same thing.

Mits said...

eagle at WE

Mits said...

thanks, Deb had not gotten that far yet..

Mits said...

weatherunderground radar gives a good view of the storms

floralgirl said...

Still 45° here, was just outside, there are nightcrawlers everwhere.

Mits said...

city girl here.......are they worms?

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Yes, Mits, that is yucky worms!

Mits said...

yuck.....

Mits said...

They are not allowed here

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Yeah right! I was trying to catch some one day for Daddy to fish with. I used a pillow case to cover my hand cause I wasn't touching them yucky things. Once, I was going to be brave and bait the hook with one, it moved and I screamed and dropped it.

Mema Jo said...

PIC PA Woods - buck there now on regular

BUT earlier at salt lick was a dead carcass being investigated by the raccoons! YUCK!

Mits said...

how come they didn't remove that carcass?

Mits said...

Sharon, I have always blamed my son's early birth on a slug...stepped on one in my bare feet,,,,,yuck, got so mad went in a got a can of beer and drowned him in it....2 days later Kev was born 3 weeks early

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Oh wow, what a story. Slugs are nasty, that is for sure.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Raining at the nest. I have to remind myself all the time that they are not sitting there feeling sorry for themselves, saying "woe is me" because they have to keep the eggs covered in the rain. No human emotions!

Mema Jo said...

EGG ROLL OUR NEST

Mema Jo said...

Position change - Tail at Two

Mits said...

say to yourself...they have done this before....and they are better to be free, and do this naturally...wish the pandas and other endangered species were so lucky

Mits said...

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Looks like it.

Mits said...

Mits said...

Mits said...

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Well, my *&(^$ cam was frozen but she is still in the butt-facing 2 o'clock.

Mits said...

both owls at the Starr Ranch

paula eagleholic said...

Wow, Mits, your comment just made me realize I have been watching them for this, the 4th year. What I have learned since then...

deb said...

If you still have your OK cam open, every once in awhile, the lightening lights it up.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Wow, this is our 4th season, huh? My, my, my.

Mits said...

yes, saw that.

deb said...

Of course, now that I posted that, no more strikes.

Mits said...

ok, I may be a city girl ,but honestly, I know what it means when another bird scrambles on top of another bird.....obviously the people that watch owls don't...from the Starr Ranch site...
January 31, 2009 There are 6 eggs as of tonight. Still less than in 2007, yet more than in 2008. First egg should hatch around Feb. 20. She could stop laying now or lay a few more. Some of you have emailed me about male/female interaction, e.g. he comes in with or without prey, scrammbles on top of her for 10-20 seconds and then is off. This is copulation. It happens often approaching and during the egg laying period. Also: Standing on one leg. They do this all the time. Apparently this is more comforatable than standing on two, or more likely we really don't know why... Point is, they are OK. There's nothing wrong with the "hidden" leg.

Mits said...

yeah time sure goes by fast.

Mits said...

what was it when the cam first started...60 second refreshes....and now look where we are:).

floralgirl said...

Ha ha, city girl, want me to bring a jar of nightcrawlers with me Thursday??
Worms are a gardeners greatest friend...

deb said...

You do have to feel sorry for some people, don't you, not to know anything about nature and birds. A friend of mine's daughter is in Africa for one semester. She has no interest in seeing the wildlife--I feel bad for her, someday she will realize what a wonderful chance she missed.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

At the very beginning, it was 5 second refreshes and then they changed it to 30 seconds and I got so bored with it that I just about stopped watching. Man oh man, what I would have missed out on.

Mits said...

why yes, they are, but just the same, I don't like them:) Not afraid of them, kinda fascinated by them, but I like dogs and pandas better...

floralgirl said...

How on earth could anyone go to Africa and not want to see the wildlife?? chance of a lifetime, and soo much of it is disapearing..

Mits said...

that is sad....I would like to go there just to see the wildlife or the Galapagos Islands.

deb said...

I have tried to convince her dad to encourage it, no, that isn't why she went to Africa. I would think the school would include an excursion, that is mandatory to get them a rounded education.

Mits said...

looks like it might be raining at Caltran.

Mits said...

you bet...

deb said...

My sister and my niece have both gotten to go. My sister went to see the wildlife, my niece went on a mission trip and made sure she saw the animals.

Mits said...

eagle up at caltran

paula eagleholic said...

Boy, that girl is really missing out!

Yes, we changed to 30 seconds last year...that sucked...and still does!!

I do love the live cam...when it's working! ♥

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Going out for a little while but I will be back! :)

paula eagleholic said...

NBG has the nightlight on...Mama sitting up a lot tonight.

Well folks, off to work on taxes...

BBL

floralgirl said...

oh... when I had dial up I couldn't even watch the live cam, you guys would talk about them flying in and out of the nest and I couldn't even see it.

Mits said...

Caltrans' is showing off her lovely eggs

Mits said...

taxes,,,,you pay taxes, didn't think we had to do that anymore;)

floralgirl said...

I thought you only had to pay if you got caught not paying...

Mits said...

still waiting for jubby to call and say he is on his way home. I'm getting hungry

Mits said...

Mits said...

yippe, just called, so dinner in about a half hour....he's messing up my Tuesday night TV schedule, good thing we have a TV in the kitchen.

hedgie said...

Nightcrawlers...hmmm...used to buy them to feed the toads when it wasn't the right time of year to find earthworms and crickets. Could handle earthy's ok, but used tweezers for the nightcrawlers!
Put the finishing touches on taxes today and e-filed.

hedgie said...

Congrats to Norfolk!
My oh my....tornadoes already in OK. Saw a grasshopper today, as well as a spidey, and heard the robins singing....sure wish it WAS spring! Afraid we are going to pay for this stretch!

Nest Update

02/10/09:
We've had more immature bald eagles on the platform.

We hear from a cam watcher on the scene that yesterday an adult bald eagle chased an immature off the platform. The adult was probably defending its perching spot.

magpie said...

I know it is an optical illusion but it sure looks like Belle has two heads! Just missed the nest-hopping routine :(

One thing we can thank Spidey for...we can tell if the cam is frozen or live...

Howdy Evening People ☺

magpie said...

I've read just far enough back to see that Norfolk has an egg ! Oh boy....

magpie said...

I sure am glad I washed my car yesterday, so now I can see all the new wet grey stuff on there that today's rain brought onto it -

but I know we need rain, so It is What It Is ☺

hedgie said...

Anyone watch The Mentalist? Love Simon Baker. Cho was pretty cool when he got his mo-jo on, huh?

magpie said...

TWO Owls at Valmont !

hedgie said...

Taped NCIS...still have to catch it. Without a Trace next.
I agree....CSI not the same w/o Grissom.

magpie said...

I have noticed owls do a lot of HP-ing even after the eggs hatch, continual bonding....

whoops second one just left, wonder if I missed some HP before I clicked on that one

Mema Jo said...

Without a Trace is next.

BBL

magpie said...

Belle is stirring

magpie said...

Well she is awake...at least that second head disappeared

magpie said...

NO egg rolling or anything, now she is settled into her feathers again.

Great Picture of Norfolk parent with egg, Paula !

Red said...

Well this boy is going to bed. See ya tomorrow.

magpie said...

Nice close up of the Norfolk eagle in the nest now, she is up and the nest is swaying...

magpie said...

Verrry strange, when I have Valmont open and then open up Norfolk, the Norfolk view fills the Valmont site...I noticed that this morning and thought I was just doing something wrong !
I guess I AM doing something wrong...

magpie said...

But I reset Valmont and now I have both like they should be ...

magpie said...

A wing stretch and an egg roll, I saw three eggs for a milli-second and that was it ! She's still awake, looking around...not settled down yet

magpie said...

Eagle at Norfolk...just does not look settled in at all. Seems kind of strange to me.

I hate to leave while Belle is still thinking about something but I have got to skee-daddle. Work day Wednesday for me :(
Will miss all the daytime fun

Good Night Eagle ♀ and ♂ Folks, Peace, Love and Prayers xo ♥

'Night Deb...enjoyed having another smiling face on here...will see everyone's late night posts, at 4:30 in the morning ☺

Mema Jo said...

I see our eagle is awake watching Spidey's web

deb said...

I just checked and it is 60 in NBG, so she may not need to be on the egg right now. They do slow down incubating with the first egg, so that is probably what is happening.

Mits said...

oh sorry, Margy, Tuesday is a pretty good TV night....have a good day tomorrow...Belle has been restless tonight
